We went here 2 days in a row - Day one was the roast beef and cheddar with gravy and meatball parmigiana- the roast beef was incredibly moist and tender just the right amount of cheddar and the gravy was unctuous, the bread toasted to perfection. A 10 out of 10 sandwich! Meatball parmigiana had tender moist meatballs with just the right amounts of seasoning and cheese, once again bread toasted to perfection!! Day two - cheesesteak, eggplant parmigiana and a Monica's favourite tuna Cheesesteak - this sandwich gives Dalessandro's steaks in Philly an run for its money- steak was tender and full of flavour right amount of onion and green peppers, topped with cheddar, if I would have asked for provolone it would have beaten the Philly champ hands down. Eggplant parmigiana was without a doubt the best I've had in years- sauce was full of flavour but you could still taste the tender well seasoned and breaded eggplant- bread toasted perfectly as usual!! The sleeper was the tuna - the olives and banana peppers took the tuna to another place. Just a big WOW Needless to say Pete and Monica were so friendly and accommodating no matter how busy it got they never rushed anyone's order or queries about the 50+ sandwiches on the menu With a little marketing this place could be an absolute nightmare of a line!!!!!! Looking forward to next week's short rib ravioli in mushroom sauce!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupendous value and flavour read more

My business placed an order today and it was ALL wrong. I called and they argued that WE were the problem. I was standing right beside the phon when the order was placed and it was clear. They have lost our business because of the argumentative attitude with no understanding or revision. read more

Dara's is my favorite sub spot! The bread is always fresh, I love how thinly sliced yet well stacked the meats and cheeses are. They're always quick, You call in your order and shortly after they will have it ready :) def my go to deli. If you're ever in the area, stop in and get you a sub! read more

Food is always good! Salads fresh. Hot roast beef very good! Tables to eat in. Staff helpful and pleasant.

The worst place to get your sandwiches. I had decided not to shop there a long time ago, but at the insistence of my coworker, I returned to order our lunch. First of all, they are very odious, they have no sense of what it is like to treat customers, I imagine that because they believe they are the only ones in the area and they have a lot of time there, so they treat customers badly. We called for our order, they told us it would be ready in 20 minutes, we arrived in 30 minutes to pick it up, surprise, they did not even know where our order was. Then the elderly lady who attended us was very odious and uneducated, she told us; we are so busy here, if you want to wait you can wait, or you can leave it. Very iresespectful, and when our order was ready, She was very upset, wrapped the sandwiches and threw it into the bag in a bad way. Very iresespectful. read more

HURRY UP AND GO! I hear they are going to close! Why do this?!?!?! Sell the place to someone. Let them apprentice to you to learn how to make everything how people expect it to be. This should be illegal. read more

Hands down the best sub spot I have experienced in NJ. I live out of the state now but when I am in NJ, this is my number one spot for my hot pastrami sandwich with russian dressing, tomatoes, lettuces, oil and vinegar . read more

Always great food and service. They also have daily specials and homemade soup. Best sandwich around.

Great food! My fav was their Chef salad and Roast Beef sub. The bread was always fresh, as well as the dressings.

This is one of my top fave restaurants in NJ. I love eating here. The food is excellent, very reasonable and the place is full of locals, firemen, cops, govt workers -- those folks know where the good food is. Cobb Salad is awesome. read more

You can't get a better sub in all of New Jersey than at Dara's in Elizabeth!! Great prices, great neighborhood ambiance... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

Love this place! From sandwiches to salads, everything here is absolutely delicious.. prices are also very affordable.. I typically get the tossed salad with chicken, chicken Caesar sub, or the Cobb salad and all are outstanding.. they have over 30 sub selections to choose from.. recently tried the eggplant parm and that was amazing! The marinara sauce was delicious.. another couple of my favorites is the Jackie Robinson pulled pork, Monica's favorite which is a tuna sub, and I believe they have a sandwich on garlic bread which is also delicious.. This place can get slammed for lunch so recommend ordering in for pickup.. things can get a little hectic there so it can be challenging to get their staffs attention.. outside of that this place is a gem! read more

Sandwiches are great. Service is good bid give them a higher rating if their hours of operation were a little longer. They say open till five but y they start closing up around 4:30. read more

I have been going to Dara's for sandwiches for the past year and found the staff friendly and the sandwiches delicious. This year I was searching for a catering service that had good food and able to deliver. I knew they catered but I nor anyone I knew had used their service. I decided to give it a try for a holiday party. From start to finish excellent service and delicious food. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

Love it. I love their sandwiches. #50 The Clayton is my favorite. I will go back every week if possible. Yummy!!!!

Awesome sandwich. The Italian Sub was my favorite I will be going back to try more sandwiches.

Dara's is a local legend. My parents used to bring me sandwiches from there when I was kid, & now I still continue to go there even though I've moved out of the area. I've tried many many sandwich shops, & some are great......but Dara's is PHENOMENAL!!!! If you're looking for a good shop in the Union county area, Dara's is worth the trip! They truly deserve a 5-star rating. You have to taste it to believe it! read more

I recently moved near the area and was told I have to try Dara's. Boy they weren't wrong ! For 7$ I ordered half an eggplant parm sandwhich and I felt I was in a 5 star Italian restaurant. First off the lady working the front was nothing short of an amazing comedian making you feel comfortable and at home with her own charm and personality that reassures you that you are in-fact, around other human beings who are making through their day to day shift with a great attitude. Then I met the head honcho of the joint who also was a great personality and made me happy to even try the joint; but aside from the great people who work here, for 7$ I had an amazing eggplant parm sandwhich, which I might add I was definitely not expecting to be as great as it was !!! It's something I'd expect from a fine dining establishment! And while I'm positive that this spot does not need a positive review to keep bringing the business it takes on day to day, I'm just so happy that that I can still find a mom&pop place that's producing this good of a product and after just one visit I know I will return countless times!!! read more

Dara's Caterers - Eggplant parmigiana sandwich - Caterers Near Me - Elizabeth, New Jersey

Dara's is a classic NJ Italian Deli! They have a ton of specialty sandwiches and salads along with daily specials. They are bee accommodating that every sandwich can be had with no bread in a "tub" as they like to call it which has the deli meats on lettuce & tomato with whatever else you want to add. They have many popular the salad dressings, but their specialty is honey balsamic which I have put on salads and sandwiches! There can be a wait in the afternoon, but that has to be expected at a great place like this! You'll enjoy it! read more

I have been buying sandwiches here since 1974 when i stopped in on my way home from Hamilton Jr High School. The people here know their jobs, they are fast, friendly and work hard to make everyone who comes through their door happy. I tend to get their #1 Sub-Spiced Ham,Salami, and Provolone with tomato, onion, lettuce a dash of oregano, oil, and extra vinegar. And #9 Sub-Tuna with the works. But i have had everything on the menu from here and it all is delicious fresh and well put together. #24 The Muffuletta- Ham,Salami,Provolone,Pepperoni, with Olive relish is another one of my regular orders. They are a Local favorite and they have a loyal following. read more

It's known as Dara's now - but if you're a longtime local, you know it as Kampy's. Small spot for good subs. Place gets busy at lunchtime but if you call in your order it'll be ready for you. Reasonably priced and staff is friendly and quick with getting food together. I wish they had a menu available online. They have some good sandwiches but I always forget them if I'm calling in my order. read more

My husband told me about this place and he did not disappoint. Great subs. Call ahead to ensure you don't have to wait long.

Great subs and even better conversation with the owner. The subs here will blow you away for sure leaving you craving more until the next time! Keep up the great job here as you have always done. read more

THEEE worse customer service today!!! And the worse part about it, it that your product is AMAZING!!! Somehow, my credit card was declined for my order and your RUDE delivery guy, said, "there's no point in trying it again, we tried 3 times!" I asked him to verify what number he was trying and he couldn't. He told me "it doesn't matter"... yet there he was with my order. I showed him my banking app on my phone, which card I provided when placing the order... FUNDS ARE BEYOND available. Let me remind you, I only ordered a number 21!!! Half of a Turkey and Cheese. He refused to call the store to run my card again, so I had to call - GREAT SERVICE!!! I spoke with a person who hadn't the slightest clue of WTF was going on. A man in the background shouting like a fool, telling her he can't deal with this now... NO, SIR! You will. FINALLY, I had another woman come to the phone, take my card info again and SHE was able to successfully process the charge. She then went on to advise me that I was actually charged twice. I HONESTLY love the food here I even asked for extra menus to pass around, as we're in an office bldg with TSA and Elizabeth Town & Gas... I've posted on the building Memo board to NOT order from here due to the lack of order and/or customer service. In addition to that all, I will be disputing BOTH charges on my account, as the sandwich I received, isn't what I ordered!!! All of that and my order isn't correct in the slightest way!!! #21: Turkey & Cheese... How is it that I have ham and banana peppers on my sandwich??? A mess!!! Sad, because I'm good friends with the owner's son, Pete... read more

We are very pleased with this business and use this it for all our local catering needs. We were referred by our neighbor when we first moved in and six years later, we are still very happy with them. For just a little over $200.00 we served 20 people with jumbo sandwiches, Greek salad, potato and macaroni salads, olive/pickle platter, cheese platter, big house salad, soda and all condiments and paper products included. I mean, I did not have to do additional shopping for this party. We had tons of food left over and will eat for a week. The food itself is very fresh and varied. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about everything... and believe me, my Italian family is very opinionated when it comes to food. Aside from catering, you can stop by for lunch, casual setting. Please note, however, my review is for the Catering service and not the eat-in area. I would give them at least a weeks notice with your order. read more

Had lunch here with my son..I got a turkey sub, he got a tuna salad sub. Subs are about $6 each...worth it, because they do put on more meat than the usual sub places. I like the casual atmosphere and the very Jersey feel of the place. You can eat outside as well. When we were there, 70% of the diners were law enforcement officers of some type..they usually are a good sign of food that is good, and this was the case once again. If you are looking for a good sub, this is a good place. I love how the gal behind the counter yelled out the names of the orders when they were ready...even the cops ran up to the counter to get their food! read more

I've been going here since they opened ...my favorite sub is a number 3 with peppers..but lately I've been enjoying the roast beef melt over with gravy..it is excellent..they have a small assortment of salads ..they are consistent..and the bread is delicious..I highly recomend..anything you order on the menu is bound to please!!! read more

This place has really fallen off in quality in the past few years. It was better years ago when it was Kampys Korner, I miss their specials! A few times I went to Dara's, the place had a funky order inside and out. I've noticed in the past, the guys here give preferential treatment to certain customers. If you've been a regular here in the past, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Oh, and the staff here are just rude jerks, to be completely blunt. Last time I ate here, I got sick afterwards, so that's the last straw for me. We're through Dara, time for us to see other people! read more

I've been to ALOT of sub spots being its a big thing in jersey, but this place is by far my favorite. I've been coming for years now and it has stayed consistent. The staff here isn't always the friendliest, but because the quality of their sandwiches are so good, it really doesn't matter lol. I've eaten several subs from here which were all delicious, but Their tuna is made to perfection. whatever you order , you won't be disappointed ! read more
