Roselle has a great Portuguese bakery/deli and I was lucky enough to be introduced to this location by a close friend. Came here on the weekend and this place was buzzing with people. In the summer, they have outdoor seating as well. It's a bakery with fresh pastry items as well as a deli with lots of cold cut options and breakfast sandwiches. Since it was 1pm I ordered an Italian sandwich on a Portuguese roll with all the fix-ins. For dessert, a classic pastel de nata. The sandwich was delicious, although I felt it could use a little more meat. They went cheap, but still satisfying. The winner of the show was the pastel de nata. Tasted different than a traditional one from the famous Teixeira's bakery in Newark, but in a good way. Slightly sweeter and creamer, and it came out warm straight from the oven. We were back at Pinho's again since we were nearby. The store was tidy and clean, prepped for Easter. We got a dozen of the natas this time. We also got crème brûlée, sprinkle cupcake and couple of other items. Our order was packed within minutes, it was a quick efficient service. I also bought a coke zero can that was only $1.50, pleasantly cheaper than what I thought it would be. Loved the natas. Ate them over next few days. Hot pr cold, they taste so good. Stumbled upon on this bakery in the neighborhood! What a surprise!!! Looks like a family owned bakery. It's a little chaos in there when ordering even if there's a line. But the staff members are very nice. I came only for Pastel de nata, which is great. Creamy inside and crispy at the bottom. They also have bread, cookies, cakes etc. hot coffee only. Big indoor seating area. It was snowing that day. Extra romantic having my afternoon tea and looking snow outside. They also have some board games. Great bakery in this neighborhood. I've been to this place a few times and they never disappoint. The custard tarts aren't the best, but we didn't enjoy the cannolis, fruittarts, chocolate chip cookies, and the mini Keylime pies. Loved the pastry cream in the lobster tail, which was huge, but the pastry itself had no crunch and was mushy. Creme brulee had no crunch on the top. No Italian rainbow cookies by the lb, only prepackaged. They were pretty good though. We tried mini lime tarts that weren't line-y enough and the tart was mush. These guys has some really cute unicorn cookies for my daughter and niece. Best thing we tried was the carrot cake. Nice amount of nuts, I got a raisin I was happy with, cream cheese frosting was excellent, and I loved the vanilla frosting on top- nice and sweet. Anybody else have a problem with pre-ordering for holidays? This is the third holiday, in a row, that I received something that I didn't order & missing what I did want. The last two times, I sent my husband back to have the order corrected, which they did with no problem. I just don't understand why this keeps happening. I am embarrassed to tell you that I have lived in a neighboring town for 17 years and only NOW did I hear about this bakery. My wife was on a town Facebook page recently and several people mentioned this was the place to go if you lived nearby. Needless to say, they were right. On our first visit to explore, we bought a 4 loaves of bread, a few muffins, and a half dozen rolls. Holy Cow! Tasty and fresh! We were amazed on how reasonably priced and I would say "much cheaper" everything was compared to other bakeries we have been to. They offer a huge selection of cakes, pies, prepared cookie platters, pastries, babkas, and everything you can think a bakery should have. My wife and I went back a couple of weeks later and purchased 30 large cookies for a family occasion. The 30 cookies consisted of 12 chocolate chip, 12 oatmeal raisin, and 6 peanut butter chip. Everyone was amazed how large, fresh, and tasty they were. Some family members compared them to the size of a large pancake. This is now our "go to" place for just about anything bakery related. We have already spread the word around our neighborhood that this is the place to go, however, some told us they had already been going there for years. Shame on us! Pinho's is my tried and true destination for fresh donuts, especially of the sprinkle variety. The bakery has a good amount of seating, and with a small deli counter, can be a quick place to grab both pastries and lunch. I don't think the sandwiches are much to write home about, but I'll go out of my way to grab the pastries. The other thing I appreciate about this location is their ability to take pastry orders with a relatively quick turnaround. Pinho's is a special place! Not only do they make the most beautiful and delicious pastries, cookies, and cakes, but they also have a deli. This place is always packed, especially on weekends, but they have a very large staff and run like a well oiled machine. There's always 2 lines, one for the bakery and one for the deli. The deli has subs, salads, and soups. At breakfast, they offer breakfast sandwiches and coffees. We've come for birthday cakes, birthday cupcake-cakes, and pastries. The birthday cakes/cupcakes have been works of art and are extremely reasonably priced. I find their ordering process very easy and efficient. Other bakeries I've used have asked for a lot of detail from me, but pinho's asks a few questions and then creates a cake that surpasses my expectations. For my son's construction truck cupcake cake, they made the cake look like a real construction site with dirt (oreos), signs, and they even included toy trucks on it.
