Food was fine but overall a little bland across the board. The chicken and waffles especially so, maybe so as to give the espresso maple syrup a chance to shine. Everyone enjoyed the breakfast potatoes, they were cubed and crispy and well seasoned. The lemon regatta pancakes did not have any lemon taste to them, and there was no evidence of lemon zest which was included in the menu ingredients. Service was fine, food took a bit to come out, but it was very busy during brunch so that's to be expected. Gisellia was so welcoming! I stepped into such a wonderful variety of gorgeous pastries in their glass display cases! They even had sugar-free options. I was admiring the cute artwork created on some of the cupcakes. There were sharks and piggies featured. It was so cute. French and Italian pastries! There is a nice seating area and we were open to sit wherever! We sat near the wall because there were all sorts of photos of the history of this family 's bakery. My bff ordered to get a lovely salad !! I ordered a spinach cheddar mushroom omelette, and it was absolutely delicious and I took half of it home! A nice bakery w cafe located on Route 22. I believe they bake here for this and the Westfield location. They have coffee and apparently a full sit down breakfast and lunch menu, which I haven't yet tried. Baked good is where it's at for us. This is one of the few places in this area where you can pretty fancy individual tarts, cakes, etc. And they are open later, so we often duck in here for take home deserts. My wife got the Irish crème cup, which consists of cake, cream, in a cup made of chocolate. This is always great. This trip I went for some kind of Bavarian cookie tart - was good, but the bottom was more firm than I expected. Next time I'll stick with my go to, which is the raspberry mousse cake. They have lots of cookies, cakes, pastries. Lots of selections! Service was somewhat quiet and rushed, but it still was a good experience. read more

I can't say I'm too impressed with this place. Mediocre at best. I feel like it's been hyped up way too much. I find a lot of the items to be dry. Shoprite has a better bakery to be honest. We recently had an issue on Passover. We called early in the week to check if they had kosher for Passover cake and we were told yes. Then we asked if they will have any available on Friday or if we should reserve something so we could get make sure they'd have one for us when we planned to come in on Friday. We were told there would be plenty and no need to reserve. When we arrived on Friday we were told there was nothing. Because of this, we now had no cake for a birthday party we were hosting. The girl behind the bakery counter told us to sit wherever we wanted and that's what we did. The food was meh. I ordered a BLT and they somehow managed to mess it up. The bacon was hard as a rock and stale and so was the bread! The chicken fingers were basic- you know the ones you buy by the bag from Costco? Those! The waitress took 50% off of the price of my BLT which was nice....I guess. I sent the whole thing back and opted to not replace it with something else. It's been 5+ years since we last visited Bovella's (the Westfield location we visited frequently when we lived in the area). All I wanted were the rainbow cookies! The place was busy, but we were able to get what we wanted fairly quickly. You seat yourself and the severs are always very attentive to your needs. The ambiance is semi-causal spot. The menu has great stable items that suit breakfast and lunch needs. The inclusion of the bakery means amazing dessert options for dine in or for special occasions. Another deeply disappointing experience at Bovellas Bakery today. Months ago, while I was pregnant with my son, I had an unpleasant encounter with an employee who was incredibly rude to me. I brought the issue to the attention of the owner, who acknowledged it at the time and offered an apology. I left that conversation hopeful that things would improve moving forward. Sadly, today's experience showed that very little has changed. I visited the bakery this morning with my son. When we arrived, two other gentlemen were already waiting to be helped at the bakery counter. One of them ended up walking out, saying he had been waiting over 20 minutes without being greeted or assisted. The other man, directly in front of me, shared the same frustration--he too had been waiting for approximately 20 minutes with no acknowledgment. At one point, several staff members who had initially been visible disappeared to the back. A waitress eventually passed by without saying a word to any of us. The man in front of me politely asked if anyone was working the bakery counter, and the waitress responded sharply, stating that she was a waitress and didn't work in the bakery, adding that someone would be out "shortly"--despite the fact that multiple customers had already been waiting far too long without any service. To make matters worse, a woman walked in after me and was immediately greeted and served by a staff member--completely bypassing the man ahead of me and myself. I approached the employee who was helping her and calmly asked, "Was that woman here before me?" Instead of responding respectfully, the employee became visibly irritated and defensive. She said she would stop helping the other customer and assist me instead--clearly in frustration. I told her not to worry about it, as she was already helping someone else, and I didn't want to cause more confusion. But the fact that I even had to say something in order to be noticed was incredibly disappointing and frankly, unacceptable. Eventually, the man in front of me asked to speak with a manager or the owner. When the owner came out, the man explained the situation in a calm and respectful manner: the long wait, lack of communication, and being overlooked by staff. Rather than apologizing or taking accountability, the owner immediately defended his employees, insisting they had done nothing wrong. I then spoke up and reminded him that I was the same customer who had spoken to him months ago about the rude treatment I received during my pregnancy. He immediately recognized me, which shows the previous incident clearly left an impression. Yet even then--faced with another clear breakdown in customer service and multiple complaints from present customers--he never once apologized or addressed the problem. He simply turned and walked away. It's such a shame, because the food at Bovellas Bakery really is excellent. But over and over again, the lack of basic hospitality, accountability, and respect from both staff and management leaves a bad taste behind. As a returning customer who truly wanted to support this local business, I'm now seriously questioning whether the food is worth continuing to put up with service that makes you feel unwelcome, ignored and disrespected read more

So, I have feelings on this one. It used to be excellent. Expensive, yes, but excellent. Now, it is just expensive. No, very expensive. I am speaking on cake orders only and very specifically on NY cheesecake. My family in NY loved it. It was creamy and thick but not dense. It was a perfect consistency and a decent size. My last time through cost over $86 for two of these things AND they were shorter, had less circumference, and clearly lacked as much cream. You could argue this is a one off, but at nearly a hondo there is no way I'm giving them any slack on that bust of an Easter dessert. You know it's bad when the cake itself is smaller than the golden cardboard sheet it comes on inside the box. You can say inflation, but I'd rather them charge me $100 and I get quality than the $86 and get garbage. Lastly, the staff never seems happy to be there nor to help customers most of the time. Some are nice enough, but others make it seem like you are bothering them by giving them business. Oh, and don't bother calling on the phone. Either A: it will ring forever, B: someone will answer in a surly manner and place you on hold forever, or C: once on hold they will just hang up. I had heard many great things about this place -- I would always drive by, but I never actually stopped to check it out -- so, when my friend asked me where I wanted to go for our morning coffee, I suggested this place, and I was not disappointed. When you enter through the first set of doors, you are greeted with a door to your left and one to your right; one is marked with, "enter", and the other is your, "exit", which I appreciated. Once you enter, the scent of the baked goods hits you and just makes your mouth water. We were greeted right away, and the employee was super friendly. We were told we could sit anywhere that had table settings since there was spacing for COVID restrictions -- sweet, simple and safe. So, since I had never been there before, it took me some time to look over things and figure out what I wanted, and not once during the process did I feel rushed or made to feel guilty about taking "too long". The server was very patient and kind about it, regardless of how he may have actually felt. My friend ordered a crepe, and I went with the avocado toast, and both of us were more than satisfied with our orders. The portions were very decent, and food was fresh and made with love.
