My mom has worked in the area for basically my entire life and whether I am visiting her for a late lunch or she's bringing some food home, Oasis has been a staple. She (and now me) loves everything from the sandwiches to the pastries, the clean space and even the coffee. On our last visit here, we all got some version of their grilled chicken sandwich. It came on a roll with lettuce, tomato and mayo and was a perfect lunch. The menu is small but mighty, basically just 1 or 2 simple salads, the grilled chicken sandwich as well as tuna fish or chicken salad and maybe a couple other options. Small, but everything is great. And do not sleep on the pastries! We always get a couple of the pastel de natas but on the last trip tried a few other things as well. My favorite, besides the custard cups of course, was the almond danish - it was sweet but oh so good. They have a big space, so plenty of tables for any group size, and street parking outside is never too hard to find. Worth a visit! read more

We went to this bakery about a week before my birthday to request a cake. When showing them the design I wanted, they said they could do it & I showed them the color & piping details I wanted. They agreed and "took note", all was fine. Fast forward to the day of my birthday, the cake is picked up and looks NOTHING like the picture. I understand if maybe the design was difficult, but it wasn't and they had a reference photo!! Colors did not match the picture and what I told them at all. It's a complete job and it looks like they didn't even try to look at the photo I sent. So disappointing and a waste of money, don't recommend. read more

I drove by the store yesterday and noticed that they sell açaí bowls. I love them and was excited that a local shop sold them. I went there this morning and asked the cashier what was in their bowls. She stated bananas and granola. I'm use to more items coming with the bowls but I decided to order it anyway. The pictures show what I got. I'm highly disappointed with this. Presentation is everything and they failed miserably. I have no idea what the mayo looking stuff is on top and I'm not trying it out. They really should be specific with what's in or on their food because I could be allergic to whatever that is. read more

Super cute bakery with a lot to offer from cupcakes to mousse to bagels and coffee plus sandwiches and more. A bit of a barrier between the staff and I as the young lady had a hard time hearing over the display case what I asking for, but I didn't want to yell at her either over the counter so she could. Everything looks freshly made and smelled super delicious and amazing. Well worth the not so steep prices for each delicacy. read more

Oasis Bakery seems to be well known by the local community for bakery items, afternoon snacks, and light fare lunches. The sandwiches are hearty enough. Not huge belly-buster monsters, but will certainly leave you full. Because it's a bakery, the bread is absolutely incredible. A few varieties of small loaves and rolls, with crisp crust and fluffy insides. I like this as a small oasis (ha, get it?) in an area lacking in spots to camp out for a few hours if you have an on-the-road job like me. If you're trying to resist temptation, don't enter. If you're willing to be overcome by the allure of pastry cases filled with cookies, Portuguese sweets, cakes, empanadas, croquettes and of course, bread, then come right in. There is a small selection of prepacked sandwiches and fruit salads, but everything else is made to order. The Portugese chourico is a good choice for those who like salami and cured meats, though they also have soups, salads, and turkey, tuna, chicken salad, ham, and cheese sandwiches. When I was there recently, two sandwiches and two drinks came to about $12. Great deal. There's plenty of seating available in a large open space. Tables are small, but easily can be pushed together (and frequently are by police officers and other folks stopping in for lunch in groups). Xfinity hotspot internet is available if you have an account. Everything is clean, service is friendly, and they offer coffee, cappuccinos and lattes. Count me in! read more

This place caught me by surprise. Its right across the street from the hillside well fargo. It's a nice clean where I can get quick bite to eat and update on the news. I order a pastrami sandwich which I should not have ordered. It wasn't the best comparing it to kat'z in the lower east side. I will get a roll with butter and cawfee next time. This is a great local place. I pass by here often for work. They make their own Portuguese rolls and custard tarts....a must try. Great coffee, they make Great egg sandwiches on portuguese rolls in the morning and have a grill for lunch, burgers, chicken sandwiches, soup and some specialties. Come here every so often to grab a latte (galao), tosta mista and some pastries. Their coffee is great with just the right amount of sugar and milk with the espresso. The tosta mista (grilled cheese) on pao de forma (sliced bread) is really good with extra ham and cheese and tell them to butter up the inside as well. I've also had their francezinha sandwich meal and its probably one of the best I've had in NJ. I def will recommend this place to others especially for breakfast. read more

This is a place I go often and this time very disappointed with my experience. I went and I placed the order which was close to $20.00 and paid with credit card. Couple minutes later I needed to add to my order a small salad. The cashier refused to take my order because all I had was the credit card and no cash on me and my order should bean more than $10 for her to take my credit card. But I just paid almost $20 a minute ago I said you can't accommodate me now because it's under $10? She left me there waiting for ten minutes came back and said " No we can't. What else are you going to order to be at $10 or more for me to take your credit card" Very disappointed I cancelled my salad and just took what I ordered prior and left. read more

The first time i went to this bakery I purchase cupcakes and they tasted old. The second and last time I went to this bakery, I purchased two cake slices and they where old. This place has excellent pastries. I transform into hungry hungry hippo when I bite into one of their danishes. I love the pecan rolls, cheese danishes, and cherry danishes. I would give them five stars except for the fact that they are always out of my favorites. Maybe my favorites are everyone else's favorites. But, when it's only noon and my mouth is watering for sweet flaky breads and you tell me you are all out....welp....I'm not going to be happy. I love this place! Best pastry shop in town. Here are some of my fav food items: bacon egg and cheese on a sweet roll (best breakfast sandwich), the "Francezinha", their tuna salad or sandwich equally delicious! I've also preordered cakes and they're always fresh and always made on time. My fav is the vanilla cake with vanilla cream and fresh strawberries!!! Yums! Orders 3 sliced cakes carrot cake is dry and bland and red velvet is so dry looks like it's been sitting in the fridge cause it taste like fridge and the tres leches cake is not dry of course but so bland.. ShopRite has better cakes ( not in hillside shoprite though ) So disappointed.. read more

We place 3 orders with them for pick up, and every single order was screw up. Even when the order is place at the counter they still screwed it up. I have spoken to them in English, Spanish & apparently either they don't understand or they try to give you what they want. This last time they screw my order 3 time at the counter even after they confirm the order they still got it wrong. The owner was there and try blaming us for the mistake her staff / cook made and told us not to order from them again. Apparently they only like Portuguese customer. The best pastries in the area. I had my sons 1st birthday cake made there, all I did was take a picture of one I fell in love with online and they re-created it plus some. They amazed everyone at the party and after everyone had cake, they wanted their info. Not only are their stuff fresh but the decor is great, very clean and good service. I highly recommend. read more
