The place had so many flies in their I was worried if my cake was covered. The cake was supposed to be an star but they said they don't do the so I settled for a circle and just want that design. Selection of breads and pastries is exceptional. In general, the specialty breads (mission, olive, etc] are among the best I've tried in the area. Pastries are always fresh and tasty. Bagels, however, are only average, so I'd recommend going to a place that specializes in bagels rather than Pinho's. Staff is always helpful and pleasant. Could make improvements in preserving freshness if baked goods. For instance, the apple turnovers are usually stale by 12 noon. The apple filling is not spread throughout the pastry thus leaving the end very hard and unappetizing. I think people are fooled and overwhelmed by the massive assortment of bake goods. Called before I came just to ask if they had chocolate cake as I was looking for a last minute birthday cake and the person on the phone was very nice and let me know my options. I came in the store a few hours later and they're were many to choose from .The girls at the counter were quick to offer help with choosing what I needed. They have cakes that are around $16 and feed about 8 people. They also have slices of each cake at the counter if you want to see what it looks like inside or if you want to try them before buying the whole thing. Omg so glad I found this bakery. My birthday cake was purchased from this bakery as a surprise and it was delicious so when it was time for my daughters 18th birthday I said let me try them. I sent pictures of what I was looking for then ended up telling the manager my color choice and t just make something beautiful and that's just what they did. I was even able to pick up the cake a day earlier due to the snow storm that was coming. I absolutely loved it and so did my daughter and yes very reasonably priced. Bought 2 eclairs from here to have for dessert much later that evening. After a wonderful dinner, I eagerly anticipated eating and enjoying these eclairs. To my surprise and disappointment, one of the eclairs did not have the yellow custard filling. The other one was only half filled. This destroyed my entire evening. I've been coming here for over a decade and within the last 3 years I've noticed a decline. The cakes are not most. The cookies are too hard (brick-like). This was our second time coming here, and although it was packed, the pastries here are worth the craziness inside. We got a triple chocolate cupcake, chocolate dipped biscotti, a Napoleon, an egg tart, Swedish fika, and a crème brûlée. The young male who helped me was very polite, everything is very fresh and good quality, and I highly recommend stopping by for a visit. This year alone I ordered 5 speciality cakes for a 25th Aniversaries, Sweet 15 and Sweet 16 cakes, 2 speciality cakes for a 50th Annivereary, 2 cakes for a 50th birtday and have another 3 pending orders till July of this year. I reached out pretty last minute in a panic that I would not have a cake for my sons first birthday party. They were understanding of my situation and made it happen and with such ease at that. They were super responsive and easy to get a hold of. The cake came out beautiful, exactly as I had imagined and tasted delicious!!!! I would like to express how disappointed I am with the service of a rude lady working at the front desk (Portuguese lady who wears glasses). I don't know her name and I wouldn't like to know because I believe people like her shouldn't work with others. It's not the first time she has been extremely rude and very disrespectful to me again today! I regret that a bakery I really enjoy going to has people like her working! I visited the bakery as I always do on Sundays, and she treated me differently as soon as she saw me. Today, once again, she was extremely rude. I ordered a cheese sandwich, a baguette, and a large éclair. However, she treated me poorly, simply because I mentioned that I wanted a large éclair, mimicking me for possibly mispronouncing it in her mind. This is total disrespect towards the customer. You receive many Brazilians, Spaniards, and people who don't speak the correct pronunciation, but she shouldn't play around with that. Overall a great bakery for cakes and pastries. Honorable mention for their homemade sandwiches on their homemade Portuguese rolls. Speaking of Portuguese rolls, they are well made and baked fresh daily. You'll never get an old roll from this place. As a matter of fact, all of their breads are made fresh. There Natas are very over rated and simply put, average at best. Definitely had better. But if your craving a nata, I guess theirs will do. Their staff are a bit rude though. Not the young girls, they're sweet normally. I'm talking bout the older women that own the place. Gotta get that stick outta their asses. Lastly, I'd hate myself for not mentioning this, but Pinhos has perhaps the most underrated donuts you'll ever have.
