I walked in this place and was so surprised by what I saw. Manny's is literally the most charmingly, unexpected Jersey diner you could ever step into! I thought the main focus was hot dogs but I was so wrong. People had everything on their plates from French toast, to roast beef sandwiches, to omelettes! I tried the hot dog combo and it was good- wasn't the best hot dog I've had but it definitely wasn't the worst. The chili is an absolute never again for me- mysterious dark color and flavor lol BUT I would love to go back to try other menu items. I was craving a great hot dog, and I really wanted to love this place, especially since it was my first time. The nostalgic vibe inside was great, the menu was huge, and the staff was fun and friendly -- you could tell they were proud of how long they'd been in business. Unfortunately, I can't let that alone carry the review. The hot dog itself had a nice snap, so you know it's finished off on the flat top. Where it fell short was flavor and presentation, starting with the chili. It just wasn't doing anything for me -- sad to say, but it looked like day-old chili. The color was off, and the seasoning was even more off. And nothing drives me crazier than a wet bun; this one was soggy, likely from the onions' moisture. I just can't do it. The dog will fall right through the bottom. The sweet potato fries were great, but the coleslaw was more like "warm slaw" -- even the waitress flagged it to the kitchen. Totally surprised. I was expecting a walk up counter hot dog joint with 4 items on the menu only to find it has a giant, full-on diner menu with sit-down service. The service was prompt and friendly. The food came out lightning quick. Nice ambiance as well. The Texas Weiner was not my favorite thing. The hot dog was a little underdone and shrivelly at the same time. It did have a good snap to it, however and was plenty tasty. The chili was a bit weird. Almost had a Cincinnati chili thing going on. Maybe a bit of cinnamon? Not bad, just a bit odd. The burger on the other hand was superb. Got the Jersey burger. The patty is grilled instead of griddled and had a nice scald on it while being juicy on the inside. The Taylor ham was fried up well and the sunny side egg was cooked to perfection, which is pretty rare for an egg on a burger. The fries were classic diner crinkle cut fries. Crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside. So, very pleasantly surprised overall. They did have off brand ketchup, which I normally knock a star off for but the positives far outweighed the annoyance of that. The exterior is cute, the inside is clean, and the menu is much longer than we thought it would be. They serve an extensive breakfast, with a long list of other options, including chicken sandwiches, fried shrimp, and soup. We ordered a hot dog (plain) and a texas weiner (the same, but with mustard, onions, and chili) and a cheeseburger deluxe. It was all fine, I prefer the hot dogs, but they don't make them often enough to be labeled a hot dog place. The buns and the chili seemed a little dry and stale, but not bad. The burger was exactly what you would expect from a diner, some goodnplain food with cole slaw and a pickle. All in all, great experience. We will absolutely be coming back with a different mindset to give some other menu items a try! read more

Stopped in here after shopping and we picked up a few dogs. The interior is so old school and was surprisingly busy for an odd time frame - 4:00 PM. The menus is huge, and the weiner selection is slim! The staff is friendly and welcoming. While we did not dine in, I would go back to give this place a second chance. I would not, however get the dog! Def not my idea of a dog. The "chili" on top was pastey, and strong spice - but not a fresh spice. I am sure this is what it should be, and I am certain that this might be a favorite of many, but I will not go back for a second. The other entrees that folks had at the tables looked good. I asked a woman who had an open face sandwich what she was eating and it was a ruben that looked good. Will go back and update. All I can say is EEWWWW! I've driven past this place for yrs. and finally decided to stop in. I ordered a chili dog and the Greek Burger, lets first dissect the burger which consisted of: Feta Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions, Tzatziki Sauce & Oregano, wrapped in a Pita. First, I asked for no tomatoes and got it anyway. Second, the feta cheese wasn't the normal crumbly texture, it was rubberier. Third, the tzatziki sauce was a runny liquid rather than the normal stiff stuff and tasted disgusting. Fourth, the burger itself was flavorless but bearable. Fifth, my fries were under cooked. And lastly, the coleslaw was dry. And now the chili dog... The hot dog literally tasted like bologna (yuck) and never in my life have I seen chili like this. Chicken was moist, and the tzatziki sauce was well-balanced. Pita was fresh. Cole slaw was yummy. Presentation was appealing. My colleague had the blueberry pancakes, enjoying them enormously. Portions are very ample. Our waitress put up a fresh pot of decaf for us. She didn't rush us. She's been there 32 years, and she's definitely an asset. No change in the decor. The fries arrive hot and the cole slaw comes on a bed of lettuce with what appears to be sprinkling of black pepper. The battered fish is fried okay; I'd like it to be fried a tad bit more but it's okay. Place is busy and many of the staff have been there decades. Parking is not bad since the opening of another lot. I was there on a Sunday at about 12:30 pm. Price for my meal in December 2023 is $17.95 without tax and tip. I can absolutely say that I have tried a couple of spots around and this spot by far has the best Taylor, egg and cheese sandwich. They are never stingy with the Taylor ham and the bread is always fresh. This spot is my GO TO in the morning at work. I would have given it a 5 star if they delivered but they still deserve a 4. Ok first of all, I would love to try everything on the menu, which is huge. I went there for a classic dog all the way. But I left with the dog, an overstuffed gyro and 3 milkshakes. I ordered one milkshake, tried it, called my wife and I got 2 more. Later on, I stuffed my face with the food. Have to be honest, only giving it a third star because there's a parking lot. Burgers and hot dogs are ok, the rest? Nothing to write home about. The staff is friendly, which is a plus but there are plenty of other places in the area that are much better when it comes to a variety of choices that are all good. Had a panini and it the meat was dry enough to make you choke, the extra grease from the onions however, kept that from happening.
