I spend my Saturday mornings collecting delicious ingredients for the week ahead. This week, I found Mastriano's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Very cool "old school" butcher and sandwich shop! Staff were pleasant and professional. I purchased Berkshire pork chops, prime New York strip steaks, and a rack of pork ribs. All of it looks great! The sandwich list was too good to pass up, so I got a chicken cutlet, mortadella, broccoli rabe, and fresh mozzarella wrap. All of the ingredients were top notch and the flavors came together really well! Will gladly return to Mastriano's! read more

Excellent small deli, but a huge menu compared to its size. Really, well run. It's not cheap, but nothing is these day, and the pricing is absolutely fair. read more

So we were waiting outside of Holsten's to open a week ago and I was starving and I noticed this deli across the street. I started looking at the menu items and my mouth started to water. We had agreed to go to Holsten's so we ended up going there but today a week later we ordered sandwiches through DoorDash. And we are so glad we did! The sandwiches are very high-quality very fresh. The prices are reasonable for the quality and the portion you receive we will definitely be ordering from this place on the regular. read more

Stopped into Mastriano's Quality Market for lunch and was seriously impressed by the variety they offer. You can tell right away this place takes pride in what they do the deli case was loaded, everything looked fresh, and the staff was friendly and quick. I ordered the Johnny Boy and the Buchiee Boy, and both were absolutely fantastic. The flavors were spot on, the portions were generous, and you could taste the quality in every bite. Definitely the kind of sandwiches that make you want to come back and try the whole menu. If you're in the area and craving a legit, high-quality lunch, Mastriano's is a must-stop. I'll definitely be returning! read more

I've seen this butcher shop/market many times, but they were closed when I arrived across the street at Holstein's ice cream and luncheonette But this past Sunday, I was there early around noon and finished lunch and went across the street and went into Mastriano's They were closing at two so it was quite busy. I looked around and the pork chops and steak looked good in the display case so did the soup I saw that they also had store baked turkey and specially made corned beef So I ordered some turkey corned beef, provolone cheese. I decided to get a single pork chop along with chicken soup and a half Stromboli with spicy sausage. The lady at the counter said that they are very well known for their pork chop. A customer was telling me how delicious the pork chop would be. So I had a very nice interaction and received my order once they were done preparing the turkey, corned beef and cheese The Stromboli was very delicious after I heated it up for about 20 minutes, but I also got some of their fresh marinara sauce which I had with the Stromboli The next day I made the chicken soup. Nice chunks of chicken, onion, celery, corn, carrots, and peas. It was a very good tasting broth. Not too salty definitely homemade and fresh no MSG in the broth, which was good very pleased with the chicken soup. I decided to put the pork chop in my cast-iron frying pan. Took it out and added some salt and put some salt on it before I started cooking it sea salt. I sat down to have my lunch. Cut into the pork chop and was wondering how good it would be. Usually pork chops are so so. Well, this pork chop was absolutely delicious. Such a wonderful flavor. It was a very deep rich flavor. Much better than any other pork chop. I've had. Not sure if they put "secret ingredient" into the pork chop. I wish I had ordered a few more and then I could've frozen a couple. I'll definitely be coming back to get more pork chops. Also, I would like to try a steak and some other items I didn't get last read more

I bought short ribs from a restaurant supply chain but they were too big and I wasn't able to cut them myself so I asked these guys for a favor on Christmas Eve, and not only did they cut all my short ribs beautifully, but they didn't charge me for it, and they did everything with big giant smiles on their faces! What a great Christmas present this was! Thanks a million for the excellent service and favor read more

We have gotten our catering and Christmas beef tenderloin from Mastriano's for the last 5 years. We are also loyal regular customers for deli meat and sandwiches. This year the beef was delicious as always BUT it was literally DOUBLE the price. We were shocked when we picked it up but had no choice as it was Christmas Eve. And I feel like the owner convinced us to get way more meat than we needed for our headcount. We have a ton of leftovers and spent way more than in last few years. We are considering going somewhere else next year as the new owners don't seem to have the same level of care for their customers. read more

Great food, friendly people....the best. My go to place for fresh cut-up chicken and berkshire pork chops, as well as their delicious soups, prepared foods and other goodies. Thank you Maria, Ruth and the rest of the gang!! read more

This tasted so so good. It had chicken cutlet, mozzarella, roasted red pepper, hot pepper, prosciutto on a roll. I added my own balsamic glaze which made it worthy of a *chefs kiss*. Recommend bringing cash to the place and checking out their variety of meats, perogies, and italian desserts. Didn't have a chance to try it out but I'll be going there again at some point, this sandwich was amazing. read more

Friendly service, family-owned vibe--and really fine meat. Bought chuck meat for a beef Bourgignon that was just right, so I came back for prime rib that was out of this world. Also like the antipasto selection, which--excuse me--is just as good as that in Rosario's, and served with a nicer attitude. read more

Great sandwiches. The macaroni salad is my absolute favorite! The people are so nice and have great customer service. Love that we have them here in town. read more

I'm the friend Brian C. is referring to (see post before mine). I give this place 5 stars because it really is as good as it gets. You can't beat the portion sizes and freshness of the ingredients for the price. I've tried a couple of their subs but I would also say that my favorite is the #32. They also are a butcher shop with great prime meats and they have a nice frozen section as well which includes Long Island duck breast. The employees are also very helpful and friendly. One thing to note: they're closed on Wednesdays. Apparently this is a tradition that dates back to the original owners. read more

Expensive (small meatballs were about $23 for a dozen), but the sandwich menu is decent and the folks are very friendly.

We ordered several trays of some amazing Italian food. The penne vodka , chicken parm, chicken francese, potato salad and garden salad were very good . Everyone finished the trays . We will be ordering from them for all our special events .The staff is so friendly. Thanks guys !! read more

I had such a craving for a good deli sandwich, and this place came up #1, and naturally, we can rolling on into this shop, and thank God we did. This shop serves as a sub shop and a butcher shop, WINNING already. For an indecisive person, this was hard, the sub menu was a page long, and all sounded delicious. We decided to go with the #3 - Hey, How Are YA? Prosciutto, sorpressata, fresh mozzarella, and hot cherry peppers with a splash of balsamic. The menu states that each 1/2 sandwich has 1/3lb of meat, and they weren't lying. The half sandwich fed myself and my SO. While we were waiting there, we got to peek at all their fresh deli offerings and they offer the holy grail! Speck! Speck is a smoked prosciutto and is not offered at many delis! So basically we walked out with a 1/3 lb sub, a pint of soup and a lb of smoked meat. Literally, winning in all aspects. Service was great as well. You can actually call in your order ahead and just pick up, which is super convenient. 100% already have been back! Happy eatings! read more

I love their roast beef and fresh mozzarella sandwiches.. great selection of burgers kebobs and other grilling items for the summer.. Huge specialty sandwich menu. Razzmataz is a good one and their chicken salad on rye with bacon in a must try. They have frozen premade items that you xan tale home and make also.. Bunch of nice helpful employees always. Just make sure you dont try going on a Wednesday, they are closed. Not a normal day to be closed so I alwayd forget. read more

This is my go to spot for an Italian hero. The bread is fresh, the meats are high quality, and the prices are very modest considering the portion size. My go to is a large #3, and it always lasts me for lunch and dinner. Also, they do not skimp on the meat especially with the prosciutto like other places. My boyfriend gets one of their chicken cutlet heros with prosciutto and red peppers, and their chicken is always on point. Will be back :) read more

Amazing customer service. I called at closing time and asked if it was possible for them to get in a special order for the next day. They made sure the cut was exactly what I needed and then they stayed late to call around to source it. It was packed and ready for me when I went to pick it up. Cannot ask for better service than that. read more

Second visit to my niece's home & second time ordering sandwiches from Mastriano's: it's their go-to lunch spot, helpful staff Fast sandwich prep, ready when I was told they would be, fun menu, fresh ingredients, stack of tasty pastrami, Good rye bread and not too much mustard -recommend the #'s 3; 5; 25 thumbs up! read more

My husband and I drove 20 minutes to get a sandwich based on the reviews. We walked in and there was not a single person physically in the store. Before we were even able to order we were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes because they were 'backed up with phone orders'. I own a business and have always served and attended to the people standing physically in front of me. We did not order 10 sandwiches in which case I would have understood. We were there for 1-2 cold subs. In my opinion poor customer service. We walked out. I have never written a yelp review r er but this was upsetting. read more

This place is great. Such a wide selection of excellent fresh meat and prepared food, and the folks that work there could not be nicer. The staff is always friendly and courteous, and their food is top quality. They use Boars Head premier and bread from a high end local bakery that is always fresh and delicious. Their prepared foods are well done and reasonably priced. They stock high quality meats and poultry. A solid job all around, a fine place to get a sandwich, lunch/dinner or meats to cook at home. read more

My review of this place is just for the deli. Place is a butcher shop with a lot of different sandwich and homemade deli style salad options. Came here for the first time yesterday and got a #3 "hey how ya doing" which was prosciutto, capocolla, sopresata, mutz and hot peppers. The bread was perfect hard italian brea, meats and cheese super fresh and the peppers had a really nice kick. I got a "small" which was a perfect size sandwich for one. Wish I could give them a 4.5 it was a very good sandwich and anytime I need an Italian style sandwich this is where I will be coming back to. The butcher section looked great, homemade sausages, burgers and a lot of nice looking steaks and chops. Next time I am grilling I will try this out for sure. read more

On a cold and snowy February weekend, how can you beat two sandwiches from here? Had the Norwalk (delicious smoked turkey with stuff) and the Fat Fairview (eggplant parm sub). Called in the order, and those guys who work there are so nice. My hubby loved that Valentine's Day lunch! And I went after yoga class and his Y workout--so no guilt. Top notch Jersey subs, period. read more

Not bad but not worth a special stop. Not sure how they get 5 stars from some (maybe we haven't tried the right stuff?) because by NJ Italian deli standards they have been very average the couple of times we've tried them. Meatballs average (and small for the price). Chicken cutlets average. Fresh mozz average. Prices are OK - what you'd expect to pay for good homemade Italian but there are really good homemade Italian places nearby with the same prices and above average food. read more

Mastriano's is simply amazing. Everything they make there is the best, from sandwiches to prepared foods. Their chicken cutlets and broccoli rabe are by far the best I've ever had and the meatballs come pretty close. The parmesan parsley thin sausage is AMAZING and addictive. I keep trying more things and am never disappointed. Prices are perfectly fair considering the high quality. I only wish they were open past 6pm so I could grab dinner on my way home from work, but it's probably a blessing in disguise that I can't because I might never cook again. read more

Ordered a large #20 at this establishment for lunch today for $12.95. I shared it with my wife and it was definitely enough for the both of us. The place appears clean and had 5 employees who were all polite. Now the sandwich ........ Quality bread and abundant chicken breast. Chicken breast was a little dry. Mozzarella and red peppers were tasty with balsamic dressing. I would suggest adding arugula for anyone ordering this sandwich. Overall, a quality sandwich at a fair price. read more

My fiancé and I went in there for some steaks, and came out with a bag full of goodies lol Firstly, the place is very clean and the staff was unbelievably friendly. They greeted us and chatted with us the whole time. They were not pushy or trying to sell us anything, but they genuinely wanted to talk and learn about where we lived and what we liked etc. We ended up buying the steaks, some homemade pumpkin raviolis (that I cannot wait to try!) and a Roast Beef sandwich on rye which was ABSOLUTELY amazing! We appreciate quietly meat and service and will def be going back for our specialty items or when we want a really great sandwich/sub :) My only critique would be the prices on the chicken. Meat prices were equal or better then what you'd get at Fairway, but the chicken price was much higher then expected. read more

Lots of other reviews already note this - but the sandwiches here are really good. So I stumbled upon this place on Monday evening as I was picking up ice cream from Holsten's (where the ice cream is addictive, by the way). Anyway, I wanted an antipasto tray for my birthday to take to my monthly dissertation meeting. I walked in and was greeted warmly. They worked with me to tailor the tray the way I wanted. I picked it up and it was ready on time. Needless to say, but I'm going to (lol), it was DELICIOUS!! Happy Birthday indeed! The tray had various cheeses, prosciutto, salami, sopressata, olives, roasted peppers, mushrooms and crackers. The poor tray fell victim to our hunger and we pretty much devoured it!! My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed it. Furthermore, I love patronizing businesses where the owners and workers are warm, welcoming and friendly. I'll be back! (Sorry I don't have a better pic but when I opened the tray, we pretty much jumped in so I didn't get a pic without the lid! Haha! ) read more
