On my rare day off, we went on the hunt for a new Italian sandwich joint. Today brought us to Nutley, NJ. Plenty of parking on the side street. Old school Italian Deli, which I totally love. They got everything from your traditionally Italian cold cut sammich to the Hoboken (roast beef, mutz and gravy). Service was pretty swift. We got 3 sandwiches. My wife and myself got a chicken based sandwich and the kid got a meatball parm. If I didn't see it for myself, I would've never known, but it threw me back. They warm the chicken up in a microwave. I'm not sure why when the meatballs they brought in the back to the ovens to make my son's sandwich. I just found that very odd. I got the chicken cutlet, with provolone and broccoli rabe. Sandwich was excellent. I was really in the mood for crunchy semolina bread, but this was still very good. My son loved the meatball sammich. So all in all, a very solid spot. Just stopped in for the first time and this place was great! Tons of classic deli options and the prices are really affordable. We got the classic chicken cutlet sandwiches with added mozzerella and it was giant and delicious. The bread was awesome and that's super important of course. Petraccos is quickly becoming a go-to for me in town. I've tried their eggplant rolatini which was made fresh and deliciously. It came with bread and a nice sized salad. It was great, good sauce and a generous portion. Their sandwiches are fantastic too. Bread is really good and they stock pile the ingredients. Great experience- contact free delivery. Their website basically is only a list of sandwiches, panini etc. If you've ever been here you know they're way more than that. Very accommodating when I called. Ordered aMonster of a Sloppy Joe, Cheese Steak, Chicken Fingers( homemade and spectacular) and Disco Fries. Everything was great! I'll give this a really solid 4 stars. The size of the sandwiches are huge at a reasonable price with great meat portions. I've been here twice, so as a result of those two trips was able to try three separate sandwiches and all three were really good. I had one of their specialty Italian subs the first time (I don't know which sandwich because my sister-in-law ordered it for me) and it was good but just a bit dry. The second time was better because I made my own. I got the spicy sopressatta, fresh mozzarella, LTO, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt & pepper and balsamic glaze. Think I would do without the balsamic glaze and do oil and vinegar next time but still good. On the plus side the person answering the phone was friendly. Also as a side note my relative had the turkey sandwich with LTO, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper which I really liked when I tried it. I think this is a great value for the price for $9.95 for a stuffed one foot sandwich, but I can't give it 5 stars though because there is something lacking for it to be a destination deli spot you would travel a good distance for but since my brother is moving to Nutley soon so will be a good local joint I would hit up again when in town over and over. I can only comment on the sub I tried. The menu did have a lot of options ranging from pizza to wraps to subs. I had a ham and cheese sub with roasted peppers and oil and vinegar. When I picked it up, I was immediately surprised by how heavy the sub was. I decided to weigh it and it was approximately a pound, a hearty portion! The sub itself was solid. It was packed with ham. There could have been a little more cheese, but not a big deal. The roasted peppers added a nice touch while the bread was flaky. Will I go back? Easily. read more

What a great find! I was coming just to grab a sandwich, but I could have filled up my entire kitchen with all of the great delicacies they have. From the Italian meats, vegetables, and coffee creamer to made to order sandwiches and entrees, this place has it all. It's basically a mini market. I ordered a Half Chicken Franchise sub and their half size is huge 12", a full at a giant 24". The lemon brought out the flavor of the chicken and the bread was perfect. The chicken was thin which I like but in some instances meatless and pure bread crumb. It was also a little tough. I ended up eating half, taking half home and throwing it out. Been back recently and feel food level has dropped off a bit. Not as good as I remembered it being... However, that's not the reason for the big drop in stars. I was standing towards the back where you have a clear view of the kitchen, when I noticed the guy in the back using the same rag to clean all the surfaces (prep table, stove top, griddle) to dry off knives and other cooking utensils. There is nothing better than a great corner deli sandwich. I had a craving for a good sandwich and was lucky enough to find Petracco's. This place more than exceeded my expectations. I had "the Vincent" sandwich which is chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, long hots, and provolone. I always said you can judge a good deli by their chicken cutlet sandwich, and this is definitely top notch. I've been coming here for years, the food is really good! I don't know what has changed over the past 1-1 1/2 years, but the food has gotten even better! Sometimes I only get a taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich, or one of their subs like the Spring Garden. Other times my mom will stop there on her way home from work and pick us up some of their hot foods like penne vodka, or chicken francese. Everything is just delicious. The store looks bright and open after all of the remodeling over the years. You can almost always see some locals dining in there, just enjoying good food and good company. Having lived in Nutley for a number of years I have tried this deli multiple times. I've given them enough chances. It is up there with one of the worst sandwiches you can get in town. The prosciutto was so dry it should've been in the garbage. I will never go back there again. Multiple other deli's in town are so much better!!! read more

I've been coming to petraccos a lot lately. They make some awesome sandwiches, but then again most places in Nutley do, so what makes them 5 stars? Their sandwiches are HUGE and priced well for what you get. I was very surprised to see so few and mostly negative reviews for this place on Yelp. I really can't find one thing wrong with this deli. They have high quality cold cuts, use Zinnacola bread, and have a fees seats to eat at. PERFECT To be honest, this deli is on the same level as Fiores in Hoboken with the exception that Petraccos uses better bread, and that's a FACT. read more

Last time I go here. Every time I've gotten my cold cuts they weigh every one heavy. I ask for a 1/2 lb I get .70,.58,.60. Never anything under. Sent my husband today and did the math for all their overages. It was over $10 more than it should have been. Ridiculous. Sad because it's very close and convenient. Overpriced, they charged me $3 for ONE gallon of water. Mold on the fruits and vegetables. The bread is left outside in the morning before opening & when it's warm out, i usually always see a fly or two on the bread. If i could I'd give them a negative 5 star. read more
