My server and the food were great. This establishment is absolutely adorable and so unique. I love visiting. If I could rate the hostess a ZERO I would. She worked on 7/29 and I arrived at 3:00pm. She had absolutely NO customer service skills. I asked to be sat at the counter before my friend arrived so I could order a drink and a snack and do some work. This seemed to be the most insane request because she told me to just sit in the waiting area? I know I couldn't be sat until my party arrived so I wanted to get my own check first while I ordered something small. She was really apprehensive and made me feel like I was the biggest inconvenience. As someone who's worked in food service, I understand sections and if the counter was not being served I did not want someone to have to go out of their way to serve me. First time here and I love the decor! The outside and it are pretty unique. To start, I ordered the Nutella cold brew which was a bit too sweet for my preference but it was tasty. To eat, I ordered the Greek omelet with a side of avocado and it was yummy! Not too heavy or light just the right amount of flavor and texture. Hash browns were partly crispy which I loved. I wasn't too fond for the multigrain bread but I'm a bread snob who makes their own sourdough so that may be why . However, it still came out wrong again--this time with American cheese instead of the cheddar I specifically requested. Now let's talk about the bill. The grilled cheese was $8.95, bacon was an additional $3, and then there was a $7 charge labeled "deluxe." That "deluxe" charge? A small bowl of fries--maybe 20 fries at best. I was honestly floored. A $7 upcharge for fries is excessive, especially when there was no clear communication that agreeing to fries meant upgrading the meal to a "deluxe" at that price point. I understand a "deluxe" upgrade when it comes with a full burger setup--lettuce, tomato, onions, fries--but this felt misleading and disproportionate for what was actually served. Agreed to take the two overcooked burgers back and replace them. Burgers came back medium well not medium rare. We realized this is the best they can do and let it go. Three deluxe burgers for $70 including tax should come out the way it's ordered. Otherwise don't ask me how I want it cooked. French fries were meh. Nothing great. I've had their food before and it was ok. I don't expect much. Oh my goodness! This diner is amazing! It's by far the fanciest diner I have ever been to. Decorated with the theme of Alice in Wonderland, there is so much to look at. The building sits atop a hill that overlooks NYC in the distance. I came with 3 other women for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. The restaurant is very large, so we were promptly seated. Our server, Jessica, was tops! I had the California Breakfast BLT which was large and delicious. It came with chips that were very good. I also ordered a bowl of fresh fruit for the table to share-very good. Two of the other ladies had omelettes that were good. The coffee was very good and our cups were never empty. The decor and tables are nice and the food was very good. The only issue I had was with the syrup. When you order pancakes, you only get one small bottle. When I asked for an extra syrup or two they gave me small packets of Smuckers syrup which aren't the same as the original syrup offered. The Smuckers syrup also tastes different. Their reasoning is that they have to up charge you more for each additional small bottle of syrup they give you, like they originally provided. Thats understandable, but when you order a standard stack of pancakes, they are big and dry and need a little more syrup than the small bottle they provided. Came here before our trip to Turtleback zoo. This was my wife and niece's first New Jersey diner experience. The niece got the waffles which any 5 yr old would enjoy. I split the Deep South with my brother and my wife had the Greek omelet. The waffles were great. The rest of the food were fine. We came here on a Sunday morning because we always pass by it but we have never gone in, and we were curious about the "Alice in Wonderland" themed diner. We asked for a table for two and we were seated very quickly, however not in the main area so we didn't really get to enjoy what I think most people come to this diner for, which is the looks of it. My boyfriend's chicken and waffles, though, on the other hand, were great and definitely worth the $22 we paid for them - the chicken was very crispy and tender, they did not lie when they said you get half a chicken, and the waffles were very sweet and tasty. We also got orange juice and we were shocked to see the bell and find out that it was eight dollars for a glass of orange juice ! I have never been anywhere here or abroad where I have been charged that much for a singular glass, so that was very shocking. Overall, if I were to come back here, it would be just for the chicken and waffles.
