First time here and I love the decor! The outside and it are pretty unique. To start, I ordered the Nutella cold brew which was a bit too sweet for my preference but it was tasty. To eat, I ordered the Greek omelet with a side of avocado and it was yummy! Not too heavy or light just the right amount of flavor and texture. Hash browns were partly crispy which I loved. I wasn't too fond for the multigrain bread but I'm a bread snob who makes their own sourdough so that may be why . Came on Valentine's Day with the family and we had such fun! Left another establishment as made a Resy but no one said it was a pre-fixe meal and didn't want to pay $$$ with our two 15yos! Oh my goodness! This diner is amazing! It's by far the fanciest diner I have ever been to. Decorated with the theme of Alice in Wonderland, there is so much to look at. The building sits atop a hill that overlooks NYC in the distance. I came with 3 other women for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. The restaurant is very large, so we were promptly seated. Our server, Jessica, was tops! I had the California Breakfast BLT which was large and delicious. It came with chips that were very good. I also ordered a bowl of fresh fruit for the table to share-very good. Two of the other ladies had omelettes that were good. The coffee was very good and our cups were never empty. Today, I decided to switch it up from my usual Cobb salad and ordered something simple--a grilled cheese. When my server, Daniel, asked if I wanted fries on the side, I agreed without hesitation. It's fries... nothing complicated, right? At no point was pricing discussed, and I didn't think to ask because it's typically a basic add-on. Things started to go left when I realized I was never asked what type of bread I wanted. When I brought it up, Daniel told me they had already made it with white bread--without even checking. That response alone was frustrating. I had to insist that it be made correctly with rye, which it eventually was. However, it still came out wrong again--this time with American cheese instead of the cheddar I specifically requested. Now let's talk about the bill. The grilled cheese was $8.95, bacon was an additional $3, and then there was a $7 charge labeled "deluxe." That "deluxe" charge? A small bowl of fries--maybe 20 fries at best. I was honestly floored. A $7 upcharge for fries is excessive, especially when there was no clear communication that agreeing to fries meant upgrading the meal to a "deluxe" at that price point. I understand a "deluxe" upgrade when it comes with a full burger setup--lettuce, tomato, onions, fries--but this felt misleading and disproportionate for what was actually served. To make matters worse, the fries weren't even good enough to justify the cost. I brought this to management's attention, and nothing was done to resolve or meaningfully address the concern. When I asked for an extra syrup or two they gave me small packets of Smuckers syrup which aren't the same as the original syrup offered. The Smuckers syrup also tastes different. Their reasoning is that they have to up charge you more for each additional small bottle of syrup they give you, like they originally provided. Thats understandable, but when you order a standard stack of pancakes, they are big and dry and need a little more syrup than the small bottle they provided. My boyfriend's chicken and waffles, though, on the other hand, were great and definitely worth the $22 we paid for them - the chicken was very crispy and tender, they did not lie when they said you get half a chicken, and the waffles were very sweet and tasty. We also got orange juice and we were shocked to see the bell and find out that it was eight dollars for a glass of orange juice ! I have never been anywhere here or abroad where I have been charged that much for a singular glass, so that was very shocking. Overall, if I were to come back here, it would be just for the chicken and waffles. Last time I was here was about 3 years ago. It was after 1030 and we sat right away. Waiter was nice and friendly he took our drink orders and we ordered the pulled pork nachos. The pork had good flavor but felt the chips were a bit stale. We had a cup of the chicken noodle soup, Reuben sandwich with fries and mozzarella sticks. The soup was good, the sandwich was good a big portion and the fries were just right. We took a piece of plain cheesecake to go. Sadly that was ok. The service at Chit Chat was exceptional, very fast, and attentive. This was an amazing dining experience and had both great breakfast and diner options. When I went, I got mozzarella sticks and a sandwich. Both were filling and delicious. The food was reasonably priced, but the drinks were a little pricey for the serving size. Chit Chat also had lots of options for dessert, making it a perfect date spot. When you first enter the diner, the case filled with fun decorated desserts stops you from getting seated immediately. I went in here today and ordered an Ahi tuna sandwich and something was just off about it. I come here often, so I trust the quality of their food. The sandwich smelled bad. It was the tuna. To be fair, I did not know that it means it's not cooked completely. I brought it up with my server, and they brought it over to the manager. He came over, we had a brief conversation and he generously took it off my bill. The service was excellent as it always is. The problem came when I paid for the bill. I left a generous tip for our server, because I wanted them to be compensated for the meal taken off. But not more than 30 seconds after I was making my way out with my family member who was with me, one of the girls from the front came out and wanted to see my receipt. She claimed that "someone had paid in cash.". They had my receipt at the front desk. I just paid on my card.. It took me a moment, and I realize that the manager had thought that I hadn't paid and wanted to see proof of it. I can't believe that they would do this over a $23 sandwich. I've been here plenty of times before I never had a problem. Who does this? I am not a person who sends things back or who asks for things for free. This place used to be so good. It fell off so bad. I always ordered the short rib hash. It was so delicious but then I ordered it today and they had these little baby potatoes in it. It's like they're trying to cut corners and cut cost on the food. I don't appreciate being charged the same amount for something I love so much for the past six years for it to be changed I guess because of the cost of living why would you skim the customers out of their food? The service was entirely the opposite experience - our server was angry, rude, impatient, and although we only milkshakes, kids food, and a salad - she got the order wrong. She left midway through us ordering to take other orders, didn't come back for 10+ mins and hadn't gotten the answer to the one question we asked, and it took over 30 minutes for our child mac and cheese and apple sauce to arrive. The server never brought waters for the water, the kid drinks came last, and we were missing straws. When I asked about the missing milkshake, the server told us we hadn't actually ordered it, then when she brought it... It was just milk with whipped cream on top. We raised these issues to the manager, who was nice enough to remake the milkshake, but then the server came over to say "did I do something to offend you?" ...
