This restaurant is hands down one of my favorite restaurants to go to. My best friend who is vegan loves to stop by here and we always have the sandwiches from here. The desserts are DELICIOUS! I recently tried their gluten free peach cobbler cheesecake and wish I got more than one slice. The service here is always great and they will inform you if your order is taking a little longer than expected. The music is always great and the establishment is always clean and smelling fresh. I go here often enough and the customer service is amazing. They also have rewards and an app now so I recommend getting your points. Nice black-owned spot with variety of vegan options and it is clean. There's space to dine-in and they are open on Sundays. The energy is also open enough where strangers will have a convo while waiting. Coming from Brooklyn, I'm happy to have this spot so close to where I am now. Savory: My go-to is the chickpea tuna sandwich. I've tried it on a roll, long sub, and gluten-free... highly recommend the long sub. It's way too messy on the roll for me. Typically get it with the works. The potato salad is also very good most of the time (sometimes the potatoes are a little undercooked). I've also had the macaroni salad and the fried mushroom sandwich which are also good. I definitely enjoyed the thanksgiving special with stuffing (highly recommend that if they bring it back this year). Tip: if ordering a hero and you don't see yourself eating the entire thing in one sitting, I recommend requesting for the sandwich to not be cut so you can cut it evenly on your own For baked goods: the peach cobbler is good and it comes in a cute cup with a little spoon. I've also had the lemon cake & rum cake. Would order all 3 again. Would love to see donuts or cinnamon rolls (hopefully without cashews or walnuts due to my allergy). DRINKS: I haven't had a drink there that I would get again. The teas are overwhelmingly sweet; hibiscus punch was a lot like kool-aid to me. How Delish in West Orange is one of my favorite fully vegan spots, hands down. Their deli sandwiches are my go-to. Fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying!! It's the perfect lunch, and honestly the perfect beach day meal too. There's just something about a giant, delicious vegan sub that hits every time. A while back they hosted a soul food night with oyster mushrooms, mac and cheese, greens, the whole lineup, and it was amazing. But those deli subs are still the thing I keep coming back for. They're huge, filling, and just taste like someone really cared while putting them together. There's seating inside and a wall where you can write your name, which I think is such a cute touch. Makes the place feel personal and loved. I also tried their carrot cake at VegFest recently and it was delicious and moist. They had a pretty steady line of people the entire time, so clearly the vegan crowd knows what's up. The subs run around $20 and everything is made fresh to order, so expect to wait a bit. Why isn't there a ten star button? My only complaint is that the sandwich was so delicious I burnt my mouth gobbling it down. I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. I got a vegan sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on toast and I nearly cried with pleasure. It's the first really actually delicious, satisfying, non scary meal I've eaten at a restaurant. Believe it or not, I went there not realizing it was a vegan restaurant. I would give it five stars, but it was a bit too pricey. I ordered french toast with sausages and desserts afterwards. The french toast was good. Again, I'm not vegan. The french toast was probably gluten free and had a dense texture. It had just a little too much ginger in it and was a bit overpowering. I did not taste cinnamon in it at all. But, all in all, it was good. The sausage was good but a bit too small-especially for the price (I believe one sausage was $5). The sausage was smaller than the palm of my hand. The presentation, on the other hand, was great. And, the staff were very friendly and very customer service oriented. I give them a five for customer service and a BIG FIVE for their desserts. The desserts were amazing! There were a lot to choose from. The decor and vibe of this restaurant were super aesthetic. I'm grateful that there is a black owned business in the neighborhood and that there is a café to stop by to work from home but outside. I was surprised when I saw the prices of the food. I would definitely say that the prices are a higher than I'm used to seeing at cafés. We ordered the a hamburger and a cheeseburger for lunch with a Matcha latte, two mango iced teas, one iced tea lemonade, and the peach cheesecake. - my cheeseburger was all right. I wish the bread was smaller because it kept on sliding off of the meat. I would probably order it with American cheese next time. -The Matcha latte was delicious and just what I needed to caffeinate me throughout the rest of the day -the mango lemonade was more mango than lemonade, which was perfect and refreshing for the concert we were heading to. -iced tea lemonade tasted great, but was super sweet I know it's called a dessert shop, but I'm glad they had a lot more than desserts on the menu. This café is good for a work session hanging out with friends or hosting an event In terms of the service, one of the cashiers had horrible customer service while the other one was super kind and welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and the neighborhood. This cake wasn't my favorite though. - GF Caramel Cheesecake Slice: This was my favorite. If someone gave this to me without saying it was GF, I wouldn't have known because the texture and taste was on point for a cheesecake. - GF Tiramisu Cup: Best of the three items we ordered. It looks deceiving in size (smaller at first look) but pretty rich so the size makes sense. I was surprised by the number of GF options with the desserts. Found this cute little diner in West Orange. Self service you order your food on the counter and they'll bring them over to you. Spacious room for small groups. They have so much varieties of Gluten free desserts/breakfast items which it was a PLUS for Boyfriend. Their breakfast was amazing. I was plant-based in the past but no longer so it was a pleasant surprise. My partner on the other hand was not quite ecstatic about that because I promised him a typical breakfast sandwich haha. What we ordered: - Pastrami, Egg, and Cheese on a roll - Sausage, Egg, and Cheese on a biscuit - Fresh squeezed Orange Juice - Strawberry Shortcake Parfait I'd recommend getting your breakfast sandwich on a roll vs biscuit because as soon as it arrived it was already falling apart (shown in photos). I ended up eating the sandwich with a fork instead since the biscuit was very crumbly which kind of takes away from the whole idea of a sandwich. In the end, we were both satisfied with our food and it was very good but you should go in knowing you will not be getting the sandwich options that NJ is known for. Hungry, I look for a Vegan meal to order through UberEats. I really like subs! I'm glad about finding another Vegan sub spot. The Roast Beef sandwich travels well (about fifty minutes) fresh from the eatery though the second half tastes good though not as good as when from a fresh wrap from the eatery with the juices dripping. The first half fresh reminds me of my first time having a sub from an eatery in elementary school (my pre-Vegan days) from the super long subs everyone has to/ share. The sub is huge. The bread is consistent so the juices don't soggy the bread. I feel like vinegar on the side is necessary if holding the second half for later (beyond thirty minutes after re-wrapping). Not vegan but was definitely a fan! My friends recommended this place to me so I had to try it out. I am open to eating vegan food, I love to experience any food I can as a foodie. Upon arriving there were a few people waiting, the ambiance was cute. They had menus and a digital menu that you can look at while waiting. I ordered the vegan Turkey sandwich with the works: lettuce, tomato, onion. The cheese was extra, I got the American cheese. I also ordered a small macaroni salad and the salted caramel cheesecake. I was told 25 minute wait, which was okay. I don't think they're doing dine in so I went home to eat. The sandwich was great! Have been driving past this place for awhile and finally got the chance to stop in. I ordered a BLT with extra mustard. Now I'm not vegan but do dabble in it from time to time. I've had meatless bacon before and depending on the brand, it can have a particular taste. I was hoping that would not be the case here as I didn't know the brand they used (and didn't ask). Moreover I was really hungry. The employee was patient and pleasant, taking time to answer my questions. The actual store (which sits on a corner) is bigger than I thought as there is another side to it accessible thru a small alcove. I waited like 10-15 mins then got my sandwich. When I got into my car, I immediately opened it (after getting a couple of pics lol) and took a bite. It was surprisingly tasty. Almost like a Blimpie sandwich as it had the red onions, black pepper and a bit of oil and vinegar. The bacon was really good and was a perfect crisp. I did not get any cheese on it. The owner reached out to me to apologize and tell me she was implementing changes to improve the areas her employees were lacking in. The last couple of times I was there, I had the chickpea tuna and that was always delicious; the issue was never with the food. This time I decided to try their BLT and Omg!! Woooah! I can't even begin to describe how good it was!! I'm not Vegan but everyone thinks I am :-) I eat at Vegan establishments and gave up eating meat about 2 years ago for health reasons. The thing I miss most about meat is...you guessed it - bacon; but not anymore. Eating the BLT from How Delish reminded me that you can give up eating things that are bad for you and replace them with healthier plant-based alternatives...even if you're not vegan, like me. The BLT sandwich was truly amazing. I was dancing and humming the "Yum song" the entire time I ate it. In case you don't know what that tune is...it's generally what little kids are caught humming (and dancing) when eating something so tasty. Haha!
