What makes this worse is that I later told the same friend I originally went with, and she shared that when she calls ahead for a party of two, they simply tell her to come in because there are plenty of seats and that reservations aren't even required. So clearly, reservations are not the issue. That makes the way I was treated feel intentional and different. As a Palestinian who spends a lot of time in Paterson, I'm very familiar with Middle Eastern restaurants and pricing. Lentil soup is a staple on our menus. I know what a reasonable price looks like.
