[[HIGHLIGHT]]We stopped by BoomChia during Montclair Pride and were surprised to find it pretty empty, but it ended up being the perfect escape from the rain and humidity. The open space and cold air inside were a total relief.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was super friendly and ready to help. When they noticed I was struggling to choose, they suggested the "everything" option--and I'm so glad they did. I got the açaí, pudding, coconut base, and all the toppings. It was a perfect combo of flavors and textures. My partner went with a smoothie that was equally delicious and a bit less sweet. As a fun bonus, they were giving out free BoomChia t-shirts with every bowl purchase that day. Great experience overall, and I'd definitely come back.

A good place for a very fresh acai bowl with lots of customization options. I got the acai and blue chia bases, chocolate granola, pineapple, blueberry, peanut sauce, coconut, almonds, and goji berry. It was very tasty, although it felt more like a desert than a health food. There were lots of different bases and toppings so I could definitely see trying this again just to see what else they offer. I knocked off 1/2 a star due to the price (my small bowl and a coconut water ended up being 17.99!) Checked out this spot in Montclair and was really happy with the results. BOOMCHIA pudding with blue coconut, topped with pumpkin seeds and flax, strawberries, bananas and pineapples. This was one of the best acai bowls I have ever had. Sometimes these bowls can be too sweet and boomchia did not have this issue. Being able to choose different layers of base is a great touch and their signature chia pudding was amazing. Having the option to customize your bowl however you want for no additional costs is also another great feature. The almond butter and apple honey are must haves on your bowl. Definitely come try it out if looking for a great açaí bowl
Boomchia is such a unique take on your classic smoothie bowls! Having it be completely customizable from the base to toppings with NO extra fees is a great addition to the experience. I appreciate the variety of vegan and organic options they had to pick from. The Boomchia Pudding in my personal opinion stands out for the cool combo of chia pudding and blue spirulina. Overall you are able to taste how fresh and flavorful the fruit is in each bite and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place!
The place was clean and had places to sit inside. The staff was friendly and willing to explain the menu to us. Everything looked fresh, the fruit was bright and crisp. There are three sizes to choose from. The blue chia pudding has spirulina in it, we were hesitant to try it but the staff told us it didn't have a distinct flavor, so we went for it. They were right! We had the mango base, blue spirulina topped with bananas, toasted coconut and apple honey. We also tried the coconut chia pudding with mango and blue coconut base, bananas and pineapple pieces with toasted coconut and agave. We would go back again/ we liked it better than playa bowls.

I remember the first time I had boomchia during a yelp event when that got 1st place for top 100 on yelp for nj. I have been a consistent customer since. Never fails to be amazing and its a good thing its not that close to me or I would be in financial ruins even tho its not that expensive. Every base is amazing just based on preference of taste, but i like to get a mix of all of them and and take little bites so it taste different each bite. read more

Ordered: Medium Superfood Bowl (~$14 regular price): açaí, dragonfruit, blue coconut, matcha, BOOMCHIA pudding, ancient grains granola, strawberries, blueberries, banana, sliced almonds, cacao nibs, date honey, and dark chocolate almond butter Aya's take: The açaí spot of your dreams! Where else can you get a bowl with unlimited bases and toppings for the same price!? In this economy! This bowl is perfect on a hot day or if you're craving a dessert without the guilt. I love the bases they offer and the fact that you can mix and match them. The dragonfruit and blue coconut were my favorites but somehow along with the matcha and açaí, every bite kept getting better and better. I'm a big fan of their BOOMCHIA pudding and highly recommend getting that as well. All the fruits and toppings were super fresh and high quality. They have a pretty comprehensive selection and you can customize to your liking. This place was awesome, it was similar to a playa bowls but with way more options and unique/healthy toppings. The people helping us were very friendly and patient since it was our first time going. Great value and if you like fruits nuts or smoothies this is a great place to stop into. read more

As a Playa Bowls loyalist, I lost my first time at Boomchia but the staff helped me with patience and a smile. I will admit I think I got a little too overzealous with my bowl choices but I love that everything is unlimited! Next time, I'll try to build a more cohesive bowl. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, not too sweet not too tart which is sometimes an issue for me at Playa Bowls. The highlights were the pitaya and mango bases. read more
Omg. This bowl is one of THE most delicious things I have eaten in a long time! A layer of matcha and açaí purées, Boomchia pudding (chia pudding with spirulina), ancient grains granola, hemp, chia and fax seeds, strawberries and blueberries, dried gogi and mullberries, toasted coconut and cacao nibs, tiny bit of almond butter, and drizzle of agave syrup. Not only is it healthy and good for you, but it is ridiculously yummy.... like CRAZY CRAZY yummy.... worth the ride to Montclair any day for this. I could eat this every single day. A small bowl is $10 and you can load it with anything. It is filling. I wish something like this was closer to my home but even so I will make this ride often. read more

If you are looking for a healthy sweet snack I recommend to give this place a try. Wish a cold base of choice it is a refreshing snack. The toppings are unlimited which is a big plus if you want to stock up on let's say peanut butter that is pictured in the second photo attached. The employees are very helpful when building your bowl. 10/10 read more
Nice little shop in montclair that has a cute interior and some seating. What sets this place apart from Playa bowls or others is the options you have for the base, granola, toppings, powders, nut butters, and vegan honeys. THEY ARE UNLIMITED!!! a small is only for $10 which is a steal in my opinion! They really fill it to the top and don't skimp. I loved the passion fruit base (which is a seasonal base, so it's only here for a limited time!). I got that with boomchia pudding, bananas, pineapples, mulberries, cacao nibs, matcha powder, date honey, and almond butter! Each ingredient was super fresh and you could tell its quality. Very very delicious! As for being yelp's #1 place to eat in NJ... And the #21 in the Country??? Hmmm... that's going a little too far for me. But the bowl was fantastic and I love the fact that it's build your own, with unlimited options for a flat price. read more
Fresh fruit, multiple bases and unlimited toppings! This place is awesome. For each bowl you can choose 1 or 2 bases, then a layer of granola, then chia pudding and then unlimited toppings. I got the mango and açaí base which were both great and the Boomchia pudding which was good. Fruit choices were pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and bananas. They also have sooo many toppings and sauces. They are super generous with the portion size too and take their time with it. The service is great too! Highly recommend this place if you're craving an açaí bowl. I like this place way more than playa bowls bc the flavor is so much more natural and less sweet. The quality is 10/10. read more

Amazing! The acai is the best I've had in Jersey by far. The owner and staff are always a pleasure too! I've had other acai I'm the area and it doesn't compare. I love that the toppings are limitless too! The acai bases are not tok sweet and they make it themselves! A great alternative for dessert after strolling Montclair streets. Service was ok, a little wonky but I think they were training. The space is clean and fresh. I like the huge table in the front - so much laptop space! Dogs were welcomed too read more
First the location is great and the building I love! Having lived in this area for a long time and not seeing that building (and others) being utilized was just wrong. Very engaging upon entering and greeted with enthusiasm and a smile. Wasn't too sure what to do, but they were very helpful with explaining the ordering process . Additionally, very knowledgeable of the ingredients and gave great explanations. Never had or even heard of Boomchia Pudding, but I can tell you I enjoyed it. Open counters (food covered of course) and everything certainly looked fresh and healthy! As you walk down the line selecting your items, don't be afraid to ask questions. The employees will provide great information. For the sake of messing up names, I won't tell you what I ordered (see pic), but I enjoyed it thoroughly! Western civilization has arguably gone downhill over the last few years, but the recent acai bowl trend gives me hope for humanity. Any time you encounter legitimately healthy food that tastes great and makes you feel amazing, run with it (and you should be able to run for quite a while after eating this). I initially stopped by months ago with a chum as part of a free/discounted promotion. She wasn't as crazy about this (I think mostly because it's not as sweet as the nearby Playa Bowls), but I've kept coming back, most recently this past Sunday morning, and it's never less than a perfect experience. I've ended up getting pretty much the same bowl every time. I wouldn't be opposed to venturing beyond that, but it's so good that it's hard to justify branching out - why mess with perfection? I go for the frozen combo base of acai and their seasonal flavor mango (it's labeled seasonal but it's definitely been there for at least three seasons - not a complaint but I think it's safe to just keep this on the permanent menu now), the boomchia pudding, dark chocolate granola, strawberries, cacao nibs, almond butter and cacao powder. Yes, there's A LOT going on here and you legitimately could get a few more ingredients in there; unlimited toppings is part of the sales pitch. I always go large to fit as much as possible. Again, not a complaint, but compared to a Playa bowls, I don't find this as filling - I feel peppy afterwards mind you, but it's not unusual for me to be hungry again in about three or four hours. The service is always top-notch. I usually see the same people there month after month (not much obvious turnover; good sign), who are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. A big part of the business model is the presentation value. I'm pretty ambivalent about that - I love a good pic but ultimately I'm there to eat the food, not look at it - but it IS pretty impressive to witness the time and attention that goes into each bowl. The person behind the counter very carefully condenses the frozen base to get as many ingredients as possible, usually at the same time as another person is cutting up the fruit to meticulously place on the top of the creation. Bottom line, they do the little things right here every time. As a bonus, this is a competitive price point especially if you are going to compare it directly with Playa. A bowl at Playa at this point runs around $13 I think. The large bowl at BOOMCHIA, which is literally twice the size of a Playa bowl, is around $15. The only negative I can think of is that they don't have any other locations, so I have to schlep over to Montclair and figure out where to park. But if that's the biggest complaint I can muster, that says it all. Absolutely deserving of its sky-high rating. read more

There was so many options to chose from and the servers were so patient with me & explained what would be best placed in my bowl. We moved from Beverly Hills, CA to White Planes, NY and we visited the Blue Bowl in Orange County all the time. With a lot of searching, my daughter found Boomchia. It was an hour drive but my daughter really wanted to go check it out. This place didn't disappoint us. Josh (the owner) helped us. We shared our story about Blue Bowl & he shared his about how his friend from Blue Bowl helped & trained them to open this location. Fresh & healthy ingredients. The bowls are so filling, a complete meal by itself. Yes on the sweeter side, but full of healthy ingredients & fresh fruit. Great welcoming service & kept very clean. I wish you were closer to us ... Long overdue review ... Love the bowls here & the choices. read more
