The perfect spot for a fancy dessert!! I stopped by for dessert after dinner and was so excited. The desserts all looked heavenly it was hard to decide! I went with the giant macaroon with fresh raspberries which was delicious! My husband had the raspberry sorbet which was tart and refreshing. I thought the desserts were reasonably priced around $7.50 for most personal size desserts but they could also easily be shared if you want! There were 3-4 tables where we enjoyed our desserts. The service was so friendly and the place was so cutely decorated for fall!

I love this bakery!! The desserts are so beautiful and decadent. My favorite are the canneles.

Had to pick up a carrot cake loaf after dinner on the way home. So incredibly fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced at $18. Our favorite carrot cake!

Where do I begin? I've been frequenting this place since it first opened. Stepping into Jayce Baudry French Pastry is like being instantly transported to a quiet side street in Paris. The aroma of butter, sugar, and rich chocolate welcomes you, and the sight of the dessert case will make you gasp. Each pastry is a masterpiece. Then of course there are sandwiches and salads to eat as well. This is my go-to for a perfect treat. The desserts are almost too beautiful to eat--true works of edible art. The staff is incredibly friendly, and Jayce, the owner makes every visit feel personal and special. You can see by some of the photos, that I go there a lot. A definite must-visit!

This has been the location of death for many well respected establishments but not only has Jayce Baudry survived, it's downright thriving. Take a peek in their small Church Street window, soak in all the hand crafted pastries and throw open the doors and damn those New Year resolutions! Always a bit of a crowd but shove your way in, especially on those occasions when every obnoxious Montclairian decides they want a latte and a sweet thing to go with it. The staff is warm and welcoming, everything is exceptional and there's even a small area inside to either people watch or pastry watch depending on the options!

My favorite find of 2024. Was walking one night after dinner and saw the beautiful pastries from the window and of course I had to go in and check them out. Picked up a few pastries for my family and a chai tea and was so impressed by the freshness and delicacy of the pastries. I cannot remember the names of the ones I purchased but everyone was so impressed. My favorite was the passion fruit cheesecake. Honestly better than some pasties I had in France. Have been back a few times since and have literally told everyone to go check them out.

The first thing I saw when I walked into Jayce Baudry was the beautiful pastry display! You can tell that they put a lot of care and effort into crafting each of their pastries, which all looked gorgeous. Try to take cash if you'd like to avoid a service charge on credit cards! I ended up picking out a hazelnut and chocolate rocher, which I was excited about as hazelnut and chocolate is my favorite combination! The pastry was just as decadent as it looked, and was a little overwhelming in its richness for me to fully enjoy the whole thing. However, it was delicious and clearly made with quality ingredients. The biscuit base was lemony, which offered some relief from the rich chocolate ingredients. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a very French pastry shop with great quality desserts!

An afternoon trip to explore around downtown Montclair. Jayce Baudry was definitely the highlight of the trip. We had a Croissant, a Leek Parmesan Puff, and a Blueberry Muffin while sitting at the outdoor cafe table with umbrella. It was a perfect fall afternoon combination. We also took home a slice of Flan and a Fig & Plum Tart. The tart was unbelievable! The picture probably can do a much better job than my words!!! We can't wait to try the Flan tomorrow! The staff and the owner were very warm and welcoming. We love all the details in the products, the store, and even the receipt. It's a nice touch to see the detail descriptions of the items purchased. This place is the #1 reason for a return trip to Montclair, even though we live 45-50 minutes away.

This spot is top tier fancy!! When I walked in I initially thought, yeah this is definitely out of my price range, boy was I wrong. Let's just say never judge a book by it's cover. Everything was reasonably priced. I felt real fancy walking out with goodies I got for my daughters 19th birthday. Oh yes, everything was a delectable delight. Staff was great & every treat is absolutely Beautiful, what's not to like, will definitely visit again!

Great service and variety of deserts. When I visited I was on a health kick, so I ordered the parfait and a guava meringue cookie; I loved that there were some options for those looking to keep it light. The guava meringue cookie was light and had great flavor. The tropical parfait was very enjoyable. Looking forward to trying their more decadent treats next time.

The first bite you knew exactly what you just got ripped off for. The staff, was rude. "The ingredients are flown in from Europe and the cookies are handmade in the city" are you sure? "do you think I'm lying?" With an attitude? Well. Yes. In fact do less. Because if the ingredients are flown in from Europe they should know what they're doing with them because these my dear are from the continental cookie company. But don't bark at me when it's the single most dry cookie I've ever attempted to eat. The raspberry jam was so artificial. For 43.00 a pound at least get GOOD bulk cookies. Because for an employee to be as nasty and defensive but have an answer for everything? Just say you were wrong and move on, nope you wanted to argue. Brunette, glove on, to serve the dry cookies, only to then touch the lids with said glove between. Took cash while wearing glove, made change (23.00 for 5 small cookies and 2 small coffees) and then with the same hand put the cookies in a bag, while with the glove fiddling with stickers to close the bag. 7.50+ each for small coffees (one latte one cappuccino) neither made properly. An amalgamation of crumpled sugar packets that look like they'd been taken from other establishments stuffed in a small tin on the counter. You want to be some form of Parisian patisserie? Pretend better. Over priced and the entire case looks awful and if you're going to employ people who would rather play on their phone than do their job? At least make sure they can be composed. The young blonde was polite and kind throughout, the dark haired employee? Thankyou for telling us you're not the owner, because the owner should really evaluate your customer service. Needless to say we went back in to return the cookies because the one my husband choked down was enough but the abhorrent attitude solidified this being a terrible experience.

ONE STAR -- Heartbreaking Disaster for Our Twin Daughter's First Birthday…read more I am absolutely shocked and heartbroken by the way Calandra's Bakery handled our daughters' first birthday cake. We paid $400 for a custom cake -- and even had to supply our own candy hearts -- and the entire bottom tier collapsed. The cake was constructed incorrectly, the dowels were tilted, and it was sliding off the base. This was not our fault -- this was baker incompetence. The baker was Alida. When we called to report the disaster, the manager Tony was rude, dismissive, and nasty. Instead of helping us salvage the cake, he blamed us, said we should have paid extra for delivery, and then had the nerve to tell us we should drive 35 minutes away, wait 30 minutes while he "fixed" it, and drive 35 minutes back -- all while our twins party was happening. Absolutely unbelievable. After threatening a fraud dispute, Tony finally sent a replacement cake -- which was just a plain white cake with basic piping, looked nothing like what we ordered, and: * Arrived late (promised 2:20, showed up at 2:55) * Our event ended at 3 * Was stale, ugly, and poorly decorated * Had gray piping, not the promised rainbow design When we tried to get an ETA for the replacement cake, Tony did not answer any of our phone calls. When it finally arrived, his attitude was the same -- dismissive and rude -- telling us to "be patient" while the delivery men shrugged at the ruined original cake and tossed it aside. No apology. No compensation. When we asked for compensation, Tony yelled and blamed us, despite the cake being a complete failure due to their mistakes. We were celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime milestone for our daughters, and Calandra's Bakery ruined it entirely. For $400, you expect care, professionalism, and a beautiful cake -- we got disrespect, incompetence, and heartbreak instead. Do not trust Calandra's Bakery with anything that matters.

Right around the corner from Chipotle, on the 18th Avenue busy hub. Self service, tray, line with parchment, grab your goodies and pay. The staff are nice and friendly. Clean, roomy enough for customers to browse what they want but smaller than the location on 86th St. Although the price point is higher than your Asian bakery, the aesthetic and variety and taste makes it worth while. I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy.
