This TLJ store was so clean and well maintained, I thought it was a newly opened location, but it has been there over a year. This a huge store with a large space for guests to sit, chill and dine. All their popular bakery and dessert items kept in multiple different cabinets. Of course they also had their popular cakes and slices by the register. The menu also had the hot, cold and seasonal drinks. We bought bunch of stuff here including croissants, egg custards, slice of cake and bread. Each of the items cost anywhere between $2-$5. Service was genuinely friendly and there's ample seating for groups. The decor is quite modern and tastefully decorated. I got the vanilla chocolate cream donut, which was very airy and delicious, along with the iced tiramisu latte which was delightful. The only reason this place gets a 4 is because of the not so amazing service once I got at the counter. The woman at the register came off a bit rude and rushed. I asked for a medium iced ube latte, and before I could even finish, she cut me off with "We don't do medium here..." and just stared -- no clarification, no follow-up. Definitely not the warmest welcome. That said, the ube latte is the star -- both the iced and hot versions are incredible. I literally go out of my way just to get it. Hands down one of the best ube lattes I've ever had. The chocolate chip cookie was also a nice bonus -- soft, sweet, and satisfying. I've loved every sweet and savory pasty I've ever gotten here. Their coffee is also really good. I've only had fine experiences and love their food, but it's concerning to see what others have said about their service. One thing I will say, a canvas picture fell off the wall and hit my 67 year old mom on the shoulder which was upsetting. No one came over to see if she was ok. It's a big cafe though so I'll give the benefit of the doubt that no one was aware. read more

I'm a Paris B girl, but Tous Les Jours donuts and drinks have me in a chokehold. Their donuts are incredibly airy and stay fresh no matter how long I've had them at home (sameday). Mango is definitely my favorite, but they're all good, and I love trying new flavors each time. I also love that their desserts are perfectly sweet, never too sweet. Finally made it in and happy I did! The store was bright and inviting. The food cases were so mesmerizing and there were so many options it was difficult to pick! I came around noon so opted for more of an afternoon tea and tried a variety of macarons, milk cream bread, and pomegranate green tea. All the treats tasted great! I came to Tous Jours after working out, and I ordered an ICED AMERICANO, the girl made my drink wrong I said I didn't order an AERO I ordered an Americano she reluctantly made my drink dropped it in front of me and gave me an attitude. I asked the guy with the curly pony tail why the girl with the red hair was being rude I simply told her she made the wrong drink. I then asked where was the manager because this was unacceptable for her to be upset with me, she made my drink wrong. He then says well she made it right so get out....this took place on Saturday, May 23rd at 10:34am. POS 02-03041143. I sat down for a moment to let the person I came in with know what happened and as I walked out to leave, I checked one more time to see if the manager was by the register, as I left the guy with the curly pony tail walked outside the store behind me and my guest, that's right OUTSIDE the store to say, hey I know you took a picture of me if you post it anywhere watch what's going to happen. I said yea okay. He continued to argue with in which case another person outside the store stop to observe his abusive behavior. I am disappointed and disturbed. You are supposed to treat people well and with respect. People do not patronize businesses in their town to be degraded by workers with bad attitudes. It's unacceptable. I have an image of the people that I am happy to share with the manger to confirm the specific individuals who were unprofessional and disrespectful. We have been to TLJ stores elsewhere, they've always been great in every way. Unfortunately now that we have one in our backyard it turns out to be CONSISTENTLY the worst customer experience interactions ever. Why? The crew is always looking for a reason to be rude, and that's when they deign to speak to you at all. Easy example: on the TLJ website, Google, Yelp, etc., it states the hours as 7:00 am opening every day. They refuse to acknowledge that and open at 9:00. The person who refused us entrance (through the unlocked door!) said it was because of the snow. That excuse was used previously when we arrived at their posted opening time. This associate also pointed out that the correct hours are on the front door! Really? Is condescension part of the customer experience? Please, please, please get it together. read more

Twice I've now been in there for hot coffee, each time it's been served as hot and was cold, not ice cold, but refrigerator cold. Once is a mistake anyone could make -- but 2for2 is a statement. Bakery products look good, but if you can't get the coffee right. Not like it's a local small shop - stuff is shipped in from corporate hq. Went there this week.We had our tray of pastries and while we were waiting to place our beverage order, the phone rang. The young woman at the counter, answered the phone. From what I could gather, the caller was inquiring about an item which they didn't have. Instead of telling them that she was with customers and asking them to hold for minute or two, she proceeded to describe what they had in the display case to the caller. Meanwhile, my husband and I are waiting to be served. She keeps talking. My husband says that she can let us know when she is done so that we could finish the transaction. The phone call ended and she started doing something else. We were not happy at all and left the shop. I have been to other Tous Les Jours and I love the food but I will NEVER return to this location. The one star is not for the quality of the food but for unprofessional customer service. There are many eateries in Montclair and if the owners want their business to survive, I suggest that they provide better staff training. read more

Does Montclair really NEED a new bakery? This Township HAS a half dozen OVER a Baker's dozen bakeries already, all delicious! Well ... sometimes it's not about need but want and for THAT ... heck YES it WANTS Tous Les Jours! I went to give it a try and grabbed far MORE than a baker's dozen variety of items and not one of them so far has been disappointing. The prices are not cheap but NOT expensive either. NB for the DISABLED: when you walk in and look straight ahead you SEE a step up, but directly to the left is an ingeniously threaded-in ramp that gets you right where you want to go. It is LOVELY and ROOMY inside with a high ceiling. There is nicely appointed well-spaced seating. Most of the pastries are on tables or in open cases available for customers to grab themselves after you pick up a tray. The tables and cases holding the pastries are nicely laid out and spacious, so even if it's crowded you will be able to get in there and get what you want, with just the most delicate items - including cakes, cake slices and macaroons - in a traditional let-the-worker-get-it case by the cashiers. And the people ... OH the people! I'm disabled on crutches, and when I asked the kind and charming Gabriel for a bag instead of the tray that's there to pile up my goodies, his response? To immediately grab a tray and say no no let ME help you. And help he did. He went with me all over - even replacing the tray as needed since I wanted to give a good review trying multiple items - and he tonged up all I wanted with commentary and suggestions as requested. And after purchase volunteered that if my car was nearby he'd happily carry the bags there and he did. Just kind and terrific as were the other two people there working the check out. I will note that it was late in the day and not crowded, so having him help didn't make it difficult for others. As to the pastries, all I can say is YUM! The almond croissant, fabulous, the chocolate dipped croissant, ditto. The round granulated-sugar coated donut ... things ... delicious! Gabriel suggested the sweet cheese and blueberry which I'm eating now and Double Yum! I haven't eaten the others I picked up yet - one pastry a day is enough - but I will and I also have to note that I like that the cake slices with their delicate frosting are boxed in clear boxes to keep them safe. Practical: it is right on the corner at a CROWDED intersection with parking up and down the street. read more

There are some real growing pains here. One woman behind the counter constantly barking at a young lady working next to her trying to correct her mistakes. This makes everyone nervous and distracted. I was handed a box of delicate pastries that was not closed properly and all the pastries were smashed. Open the box to find that I did not get what I asked for. Maybe it will get better but right now, it is a very loud, anxiety-inducing experience that is not worth the prices. The potential is there but the execution is not even close. read more
