I came here w/ two colleagues on a Monday afternoon, and we were seated immediately. I loved the cozy vibes in the restaurant, but I had mixed feelings about the service and food. I ordered the black bean burrito and an iced latte. It took a while for my latte to come out, and I actually got sick from it soon after. The burrito itself was great, and some black burnt potatoes aside, the potatoes were delicious. Food aside, there were some bugs flying around our table, which was pretty unpleasant. Our server never checked on this, and we had to go up front to ask for the bill. I probably wouldn't come here again unless I was really hungry and I just wanted a quick bite. read more

The place is bigger inside than it appears and I was pleasantly surprised to hear they have GF toast and pancakes (and maybe something else?). Excellent spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch in Montclair. One of the best things about Bluestone is their coffee - it's roasted in house and they also sell bags to take home. If you're a coffee snob, highly recommend trying. The food is also great. They have a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options, so much so it was hard to pick - everything sounded so good! I ended up going with the smoked salmon avocado toast on multigrain bread. The portion of salmon was very generous and you could tell it was fresh. The bread was piled high with avocado, cucumber, and the most delicious pickled onions. It kept me full all day. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito and his parent had omelets, all of which were large potions. They were raving about the rosary potatoes that were served with their meal. It does get very busy so be prepared to wait on the weekend at peak times. But I assure you it's certain worth it. read more

Not only is this our neighborhood place that's easy to frequent for us, it is one of the best places in town! Consistently delicious and super friendly and efficient service. Cozy atmosphere with local artists' works on display and for sale. Daily specials in food and drink available. Great sandwiches and soups also in addition to breakfast fare! My faves are huevos rancheros or Spanish omelette, or a good ol' egg sandwich and oat latte. The French toast is also yummmm! Brunch crowd vie for tables on weekends. Picked up a couple of baked goods and drinks. We had the blueberry scone and banana bread. We were asked if we wanted butter on the scone and we said, sure why not. We also ordered a spiced chai and vanilla latte and thought the vanilla chai was going to be sweet, we were mistaken. Our goodies came out in about five minutes. The biscuits were good and not too sweet. So apparently they buttered the banana bread too which I wasn't a fan of. I guess when we agreed to have the scone buttered they assumed to butter the banana bread? But like I mentioned, they weren't too sweet which I like! The vanilla latte was nice. The spiced chai was too sweet. I was like what the heck. I expected the vanilla to be sweet not the chai! The ordered to almost $12. Now I know what to order if I come back. read more

Fun place. Hipsteresque, but not over the top. Eclectic decor. Menu not real adventurous. My Canadian omelet wasn't exactly filled with Canadian bacon, or cheese either-maybe that led to it being dry along the edges. Nice roasted rosemary potatoes, and props for having croissants and English muffins for the accompanying toast choice. Minor quibble, the waitress dropped off the bill, not telling me to pay upfront. Wife said her omelette was tasteless as well. Didn't finish half of it. Service was slow even though the place wasn't very busy. Coffee was fine. The most amazing Chai tea lattes in the area -- not overly sweet, frothed to perfect and amazing when paired with a double shot of espresso. After coming here a few times -- I found the breakfast/ brunch quality to be a deteriorating a bit (example: bacon seems like it's the package pre-cooked bacon that's super thin) bagels similar to supermarket bagels (not plush at all). Will stick to the drink options and head to brunch elsewhere after my caffeine fix! read more

Compared to many other shops in Montclair I find this to be really affordable for pretty good quality. The staff is always very friendly. I was craving waffles and went to many cafes; many were closed due to early holiday. I came across Bluestone Coffee Co and I was not let down. The waffles were exactly what I wanted and more. They were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I received my order in good timing. Ordered their breakfast burrito special that has sausage (add $1) scrambled eggs, cheese, black beans, avocado (and a side of salsa).The ingredients themselves were tasty but I prefer my food seasoned extraordinary well and this lacked a certain kick. Luckily our wonderful server came prepared with some hot sauce (Cholula). Also got the pasta papa which is different, but tasty. Who knew that fettuccini went well with potatoes. If you enjoy a true 3 egg omelette, a bottomless cup of coffee and great sincere wait staff. It's pretty basic stuff. No gimmicks Just a nice place to have a breakfast. Sometimes when the weather is nice the families flock. Earlier is better. Pancakes and Baked goods solid. Fruit and salad are offered as substitutions. oatmeal solid as well. I've been here a few times now so it's about time I wrote a review! This place kind of reminds me of a diner. It's basic and they do it pretty well but it's nothing special either. The service is always good and there are a lot of tables so even if it's Sunday brunch time you don't have to wait forever. This recent visit I tried the frittata with zucchini and Parmesan cheese. It was very filling and came with delicious rosemary potatoes and 2 pieces of toast. My critique is that the Parmesan is sprinkled on the top after the frittata is done so it doesn't melt at all, it's just dry cheese on top. Another critique I have is with the jam. When I asked for some I wasn't expecting much but it came in a cute little silver cup making it look fancy. However, this was just your basic smucker's jam! I was not pleased at all as I thought it tasted really bad, basically like spreading candy on toast... The chai drink is ok, too sweet for me, and the one that is supposed to be "spicy" is not spicy at all. I do like that they have milk alternatives like coconut milk though. I was also disappointed in the zucchini bread I got for a snack. It was extremely dry and that is hard to do seeing as how watery zucchini is normally! I don't know what happened but I would not get it again sadly. Overall, the prices here are good so if you are looking for some basic food that is affordable, come here. Second time coming here and I love the bright mood of the place. It's perfect for grabbing breakfast/lunch with your friends and family to catch up. I especially love to come in the spring and summer. Came around lunchtime on a Sunday, but there was only around a 5 minute or less wait for 5 people. Our waitress was sweet and attentive and the wait for food was not too long. Though some of the portions aren't huge, I don't think the prices are bad for them. There's always a wait here, so that's definitely a downside, but the wait is always worth it! It's a small but yummy breakfast spot, so the wait is to be expected. The menu has pretty much all the normal breakfast foods you could want: omelets, French toast, waffles and egg wraps. Yet, they somehow do it all so much better than your average breakfast spot. The bacon is so thin and crispy, and they give you a lot of it - it's almost like eating delicious bacon chips because they're so crispy and delicious. I had the breakfast quesadilla both times I've gone and it was incredible both times. The avocado inside the quesadilla was ripe, soft and creamy, as it should be. My daughter ate almost all her dish - the Belgian waffle - both times too, which NEVER happens. That's how good it was, I guess! The coffee is a bit strong, but a little milk can fix that. Long story short, go here if you don't mind a wait and rude people seating themselves ahead of you (even though you're supposed to wait to be seated.) You won't regret it!
