    Mofawar and Yemen Chocolate Special
    Deya M.

Dropped by Qawah house on a whim when in the Montclair area, and it was a delight. The place was so busy on a Sunday, but there were no issues finding seating and service was quick despite this! We never had Yemeni coffee before, and asked an employee for his suggestion. He told us the Mofawar was his favorite, so that's what we went with! We decided to dine in, so this was served in a pot with two small cups. For $13, this was easily three normal sized coffees! Two people had more than enough of their coffee fill, and we took a whole cup to go. The coffee was very enjoyable and balanced with coffee taste and spice. We also go the Yemen chocolate, which was Qawah House's take on the viral Dubai cholocolate. This was decedant, with a dark chocolate outer shell and pistachio and rice vermecelli on the inside. Not even a crumb was left of this dish by the time we were done. Overall, Qawah house was great. It's the perfect place to come and work, or to catch up with your friends!

Sabaya and Blond Arabic Roast coffee! Outstanding!

My wife and I were in the area for a concert. We just finished dinner and had an hour to fill before the show. I saw Qahwah on Yelp and had previously tried two of their other locations. It's an excellent place to relax, very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional. I ordered a small pot of blond Arabic roast coffee and Sabaya. The sabaya was solid, would probably like it better when it was first made as opposed to reheated but the flavor and texture were still good. The highlight for me was the coffee. An absolute experience! They prepare it in a sizable pot, even the small yielded five small cups of coffee. The color without any cream added was lighter than any coffee I've seen. The flavor is smooth and delightfully well rounded. I look forward to having that coffee again!

Iced Adeni chai (left) & iced Yemeni latte (right)

Before I begin, I must disclose that I love a good cafe. I love to order a drink and a pastry to sit back and have conversations with loved ones, or work/read. Cafes are the backbone of many of my weekend activities. If you're like me, or you consider yourself a coffee/tea lover - absolutely make sure you visit Qahwah House. The workers behind the counter were very kind & patient as we looked over the menu and at the pastry selection before ordering! Qahwah House is mostly self service- upon ordering you receive a buzzer and retrieve your items when buzzed. This is a very similar system to many Asian cafes I frequent, and avoids a loud hollering of your name or drink for everyone to hear (I'm looking at you, Starbucks). This Qahwah House location feels very modern, calm, and natural with wood furniture and accents on the wall. Lively Arabic music flows through the speakers, and I feel like I've entered the home of a good friend. It isn't too loud or too quiet and is the perfect scene for good conversation over delicious beverages and snacks. We got the iced Adeni chai and iced Yemeni latte for our drinks. The Adeni chai was beautifully fragrant from both the spices and black tea. This chai puts any other chain cafe's watered down chai latte to complete shame. I could drink this all day, any day. I got it sweetenened, and it was perfect - not too sweet! The iced Yemeni latte was a nice balance of sweet & bitter. Neither my partner nor I are the type to take our coffee completely black. We both typically enjoy a splash of milk or cream. Before mixing the latte, we sampled a bit of the espresso on top. When I say this was the most divine coffee I've had in a long while, I speak from my heart! My partner and I both agreed that we would drink this coffee black, and we will be returning to Qahwah again to order it undiluted in a latte! The espresso is smooth and not tinny or bitter, with a touch of warm aroma from the spices. My partner was worried he wouldn't be able to drink our usual coffee again after this. For pastries, we got what I believe was the Hazelnut Dream, as well as the Khaliat Alnal. The Hazelnut Dream was fine, something along the lines of a cheesecake with chocolate & hazelnut. A bit too sweet for my mood at the time, but smooth & delicious. It had a lovely crust on the bottom which I believe to be Kadayif. The Khaliat al Nahl is a standout item. Please get this if you come to Qahwah House. It has a beautiful honeycomb shape that is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, filled with soft cheese. It's served warm and coated with honey. It is a beautiful example of sweet & savory working in harmony. Each piece pulls away easily, bite-sized and ready to be consumed. I will be dreaming of this until my next visit to Qahwah House.

Experienced the best Yemeni Latte ever! They were also open to 11PM on Xmas-Eve. I'll definitely be visiting this place when in Montclair. The service was wonderful as well as the ambiance. They have a beautiful map displaying the areas where Arabica coffee has been.

Stopped by Qahwah Coffee during Montclair Pride, so it was understandably busy and my drink took a bit longer than I'd assume it normally would. The space itself is really well done. A beautiful setting that highlights the journey of the coffee bean from Yemen to the rest of the world. It feels intentional and unique, which I appreciated. I ordered the pistachio latte, which was almost $10. Definitely pricier than I'm used to for a coffee, but to be fair, it was very good. Smooth, flavorful, and different in a good way. I'd come back again to try more drinks and hopefully check out some of their food options too. A solid spot with character and quality.

I came here to catch up with a friend on a Tuesday night and it was pretty low-key and I liked it. I got the mango refresher and it was delicious. Next time I definitely want to come back to check out their desserts.

Always been a fan of Qahwah House and the new location in Montclair doesn't disappoint. The ambience is great and the tea and coffee are as usual amazing. Will definitely keep visiting

Any cafe that takes their coffee seriously is welcome in my book. Qahwah House is a unique experience as they feature Yemeni Style Coffee, Tea and Dessert (It's worth a look to read about their organic coffee history on their website). I tried the Mofawar coffee, a medium roast coffee served with cardamom & cream. The coffee was a unique taste to my palate, served piping hot; it was a flavorful and interesting experience. A medium was $6. The cafe itself is clean, spacious, a great place to relax with friends, maybe the music was a bit loud if you like to catch up on reading with your coffee. The hours are great for those that like coffee in the evening. I will definitely return.

    Sabaya and iced Yemeni latte
    Milan K.

I visited Qahwah House in Montclair and ordered the iced Yemeni latte along with Sabaya . The iced Yemeni latte was aromatic and refreshing, though a bit too sweet for my taste. The Sabaya --a freshly baked, flaky Yemeni pastry--was lightly sweetened and paired nicely with the coffee. The atmosphere at the café is cozy and inviting, with friendly service and reasonable prices. Overall, Qahwah House is a great spot for those looking to experience authentic Yemeni flavors, especially if you enjoy sweeter coffee drinks.

Finally stopped in with a friend and we were so happy we came! Everything sounded so great it was hard to decide. We both opted for a matcha blend from the specials. I loved the coconut matcha. The barista was very kind and told me he could customize my level of sweetness because I didn't want too much sugar. The treats in the front case looked delicious too! Will definitely be back!

This place is gorgeous! The customer service is outstanding. Staff is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful with any questions you might have about menu items. I ordered their pumpkin spice latte and it is the perfect balance of spices and a little bit of sweetness. I've had a lot of pumpkin spice lattes in my life and none of them have ever come close to this one. My husband ordered the Turkish coffee and he loved it. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town.

This is hands down my absolute favorite coffee shop! The Yemeni iced latte is consistently amazing every single time I order it. I'll gladly go out of my way just to come here. Whether I'm grabbing my drink to stay or to go, the experience is always excellent. Literally take alllll of my money. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and visit -- and definitely try the pastries, they're always fresh and so good!

My SO and I made a visit to Montclair to check out Qahwah House. The large space is absolutely beautiful, the décor is fabulous, and it all lends to the very chill vibes. There are several pastry options to choose from, but sadly, none that were gluten-free for me. Now, onto the coffee! My iced coffee was phenomenal, perfectly balanced, and rich. My SO's was not my style, but even I must admit the coffee itself is brewed very well. The staff were very polite and engaging, seeming genuinely happy to help customers. I cannot recommend Qahwah House more while in the area.

So even though they went digital only, they had no listed prices, which is annoying, especially if there was a line. It's just not the most ideal ordering experience. I did get a hazelnut frappe ($6.50) which was sweet and very thick. I was tempted and gave into a cinnamon role ($7.50) which they warmed up. Both were perfect sweet treats and didn't taste odd being vegan. The roll was huge. I probably shouldn't have gotten both because it was decadent, but they both rocked. There are a few chairs by the window, but there isn't a lot of space inside. The order did take a while to prepare, but it was interesting to try.

It's angled on a the corner of Broad and Belleville (which is cool bc of how it's situated) and when you walk in you know you're stepping a bit back in time bc some of the original features of the building are still evident which makes for a warm welcome. There's plenty of seating available if you want to stay and people watch out the window or post up and do a little work with a cushioned window seat and table. I didn't even realize they were vegan until the wonderful woman stated it as I inquired about the dairy choices (so this was my first time having a vegan iced coffee). I went with the Crème Brûlée iced with oat milk and it HIT! It was seriously one of the most delicious iced coffees I've ever had (& I drink a lot of iced coffee). I will certainly be back to support this business and I need everyone else to pay them a visit too bc they should have a lot more foot traffic on a Wednesday morning.

I had to make adjustments to the time and amount of ppl to the reservation and she was very accommodating. We had an early dinner reservation elsewhere, so we didn't intend to eat there, but they started us off with menus, instead of flowers. Then they brought out the "purse" vases and flowers. Justice was our server and flower instructor, and he did a great job in the duel role. We were all impressed with his floral knowledge and we all learned something new. The bathroom was clean this time, had tp and soap in the dispenser. The cute decor was the same except for the lil selfie booth which looked to have been updated for Vday and still up. Next door is their event space with lots of different selfie stations for a fee.
