Rolled ice cream joint. The positives are that the ice cream tastes good, and is reasonable value for 8.5 People mention unlimited toppings but no one in front of us seemed to take advantage of this (people just stuck with the standards), so not sure if this is really a thing. My main issue with this place is that its Understaffed. They just had 2 employees, so each ice cream took forever to come out. There weren't a lot of people in front of us in line, and we still waited about 30min from arriving till we had the ice cream. For that reason alone I will not return. Note they were good about letting people know about wait times.
We were just looking to get out of the house for a few hours on Saturday and stopped in a few different ice cream shops around Montclair, but the menus weren't really what we were looking for before finding Absolute Zero. Even though the line was to the door, it went pretty quickly. We waited about 15 minutes for our ice cream. The staff is super friendly and prices are reasonable, especially for the effort they put in to make everything perfect. Definitely recommend and would return!

First things first, the service was awesome! The lady who greeted us and offered recommendations was so helpful and nice. She was able to suggest some of her favorite flavors, including the ube and Vietnamese coffee. Second, all of the ice cream that we got was so delicious and creamy. I got the Oo-Bae-Bae (ube and coconut flakes), my boyfriend got the Camp & Chill (graham cracker and chocolate), and my friend got the Dream Team (strawberry, banana, and nutella). Finally, to top it all off (literally), the toppings were UNLIMITED. I really appreciated that they had such a wide variety of toppings, such as pocky, mochi, and condensed milk. Seating was also easy, since the shop was pretty spacious and had several open tables. I would definitely recommend, and I would come here again.
$8.50 for standard cup with unlimited toppings! I got the matcha strawberry, which was delightful although was hoping for more than just one strawberries to be mixed in... but taste and presentation wise it delivered! My mom enjoys rolled ice creams moreso and she was happy with the choice as well, not overtly sweet but incredibly creamy! The interior of shop is a little dated but workstations were clean, staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Looking forward to my next visit here!

The ice cream is made from home made recipe that is unique. Also, you can add many other ingredients like berries, cereal, and marshmallows to Matcha. The final touch is the fresh freeze roll which makes it practical and enjoyable to eat! Enjoy!
A few days ago, my coworker recommended Absolute Zero to me. I'd passed by the storefront so many times, but never went in. While I was in Montclair this afternoon, I decided to stop in and check it out. This was my first time trying rolled ice I cream and *mind blown emoji* it was good! I ordered #3 (Camp and Chill). "Tastes just like a s'more" Plus, added bonus with the toasted marshmallow on top. Now I have to come back and try their other ice cream numbers, and treat my partner to the vegan ice cream they have there, too. If you haven't tried it, you should. Totally worth it!
This small rolled ice cream spot is not to be missed. They have a bunch of suggested combos or you can do your own. The bad news is that it is $8 (one size) yet it's a big portion to share. The ice cream tastes deliciously fresh and flavorful. There are a few tables so you can certainly enjoy your ice cream there or take it to go.
The staff here are extremely friendly and personable. If you ever have a question or are unsure what to order they take the time to help you and you will never get an attitude for asking questions. Every flavor is so unique and different, I was surprised how each order is made fresh right in front of you. Amazing quality and flavor. It's a small shoppe with a homey feel. It's great and tasty whether you are there to eat in the or takeout. No matter what flavor you get you will be amazed.
I never really liked rolled ice cream because I would find that it tasted like nothing or freezer burn BUT for some reason this place makes it taste sooo good. I always get the hulk smash (matcha) flavor and I love that you can select unlimited toppings for your ice cream. There is a good amount of seating and the staff is incredibly friendly as well! Definitely recommend!
The rolled ice cream here is pretty good, and I appreciate the various options and toppings you can get for one order. They only have one size, so be aware! I got the Vietnamese Cofee with banana and condensed milk and I liked the texture of the ice cream - I've been to other places and the texture is too chewy and this place knows what they are doing. Overall, the 2 workers were really nice and patient with my indecisiveness and recommended toppings that would go well with my base ice cream flavor. Overall, I would come here again, for sure!

After wandering around Montclair on a warm spring day, I decided I needed a treat, so I stopped into Absolute Zero. Now I'm almost ashamed to admit that although rolled ice cream has been a thing for quite some time now, this was my first time trying it. The shop itself was a decent size with a few tables and chairs. When I arrived, there was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty fast. They had a system going...they took a few orders and then made the orders. When it was my turn to order, I got the strawberry shortcake without the sauce on it. The ice cream was tasty and was just what I needed at the time. read more

The only word I can use to describe this ice cream is ASTONISHING! I had tried rolled ice cream before but hadn't found a place in NJ that served it, not that I moved to Montclair, I came across this place and had to try it - let me tell you, it did not disappoint!! The ice cream is $8.50 no matter what flavor you get, and it includes as many toppings as you want - which to me seems like a fantastic deal. I got the "Me Want Cookie" ice cream with fudge and pretzels ... and WOW! The way they mix the ice cream just enhances the oreo flavor but without taking away from the sweet cream they use. The place has tables and a "bar" for people to sit on, as well as some outside seating. The people who served us were really nice and got us our ice cream pretty quickly despite the place being packed. This is now my favorite ice cream place in town! read more

This place is great. Each visit has been very satisfying in the way of ice cream. Ice cream is great but seeing rolled up and mixed with one of the 10 creations they have is very entertaining, though currently for safety purposes being inside isn't permitted for long amounts of time. The wait seems a bit longer since you can't watch the process presently but it's worth the wait. The ice cream combos are great though. My most recent visit I got "Me want Cookie" which is pretty much my favorite ice cream only now in Absolute Zero form and extra cookies. The selections are unique and you can load up on a wide range of toppings. First few are free. For a unique Ice cream treat. I say Absolutely, give it a try. read more

Love coming here for a sweet treat! It gets busy but I appreciate how they warn you of a wait time prior to ordering just incase you're in a hurry. My personal favorite is the strawberry shortcake and I love adding on toppings (at no extra charge)! It's fun watching the icecream being prepared and rolled. Would definitely recommend! read more

The staff here is extremely friendly and personable, if you need any advice on what to get, just ask! The ice cream, holy cow, it's unique and absolutely delicious. For those that don't know, this is thai rolled ice cream where they prepare the base and pour it out on to a frozen surface where it's mixed and then formed into rolls. My wife and I stopped here after dinner for some delicious dessert! I can't recommend the Vietnamese Coffee flavor with the condensed milk layered within the rolls, it had my mouth watering being made and I ate it quickly!!! Totally worth a stop if you're looking for something different as well as delicious! They're open for both takeout and dine in. read more
This ice cream is so cool and delicious! No indoor seating allowed right now. They have some benches outside which is nice but when I sat there with my family, it smelled like dirty garbage water. The ice cream though was great and I'd love to come back to try more flavors. I love the peanut butter chocolate one. It was cool to watch the ice cream be made. I'll be back several more times this summer! I ate my ice cream too fast and forgot to take a picture! read more

Rolled Ice Cream....enough said! Here's some tips on how to order: 1. If you have allergies to nuts or anything else, let them know right away 2. Big Chalkboard Menu in front of you, so choose one that makes you drool ... I chose #2 Dream Team... Strawberry, Banana and Nutella 3. Give your name 4. Pay at Cashier 5. Depending on how many people....for me it was a busy Friday night so it took awhile 6. Once they start yours, they call your name beforehand so you can watch them make it (took about 15-20 min until I was called) 7. After they are done, they ask what toppings you want so be prepared.... I asked for extra strawberries, bananas and Nutella heehee plus mini mochi yum 8. When done give a tip or tip when paying 9. That's it.... they have about 4 tables with 4 seating each and a bench alongside the wall and high chairs at the front window so seating is limited Tips: - if you have allergies they have a separate area to do your own order - know what toppings they have.... it's a lot! - street parking only and parking garages too - service was very friendly....I understand why it took some time because it was very busy which a sign should be placed so customers know - why not 5 stars? For people with allergies, the sign should be bigger or the person assisting the customer should ask first because the sign is so small Also for the waiting time, let your customers know ...it will help prevent them from wondering how long it will take read more

This ice cream spot is a cool experience watching them roll up the ice cream and prepare your dessert. Fun spot to take the kids. All the ice cream prices are $7.50 which is a tad pricey but the flavors and assortment of toppings make it worth it. We very much enjoyed this ice cream spot. read more
Honestly, I thought this trend would be ending rather quickly but Absolute Zero is doing it all right. Located right on Bloomfield Ave, it's definitely a hot spot. So for 7 dollars you really get a lot of bang for your buck. My friend and I decided to try the Camp n Chill which is essentially s'mores. They all have super fun names for each flavor, and there's a lotttt of them to choose from. They call out your name and basically give you the whole show. Our connoisseur also kept asking if we wanted extra chocolate sauce or other options. Obviously the answer was always yes. He saw we were together then hand torched 2 marshmallows and stuck them right on top of his beautiful creation. You really just can't beat this place. It does get crowded sometimes but I can under why. I'm happy I got to try Absolute Zero, can't wait to come back when I'm in the area craving something sweet. read more
I don't have many vices but this place is one thing I just can't give up. Absolute Zero has the best stir fried ice cream aka rolled up ice cream I have ever had. If cold stone and baskin robbins had a baby, this place would be it. It takes about 10-15 mins to make but it's worth the wait. During this pandemic they have two benches and a table that fits four to accommodate customers who ordered and have to wait outside. You can customize your order or select one of the many options they have pre set. I highly recommend Oreo (#1) or Brownie (#12). Honestly you can't go wrong with any topping you choose because the ice cream and the way they incorporate the toppings, is what makes this place special. read more
We came here on a Friday night around 830 & it was pretty busy but we really didn't wait longer than 5-10 minutes for our ice cream. There's some room inside to wait and sit but there's also like a bench & a table outside. I ordered the Hulk Smash which is matcha green tea flavored with bits of frozen strawberries - the toppings here are unlimited so I went with mochi, pocky sticks, & fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries & blueberries). My 3 year d decided on Cotton Candy Girl which is exactly what it sounds like - they mix the cotton candy with the rolled ice cream & then she did sprinkles & cotton candy on top. Finally my husband got the Own You Need is Coffee which is coffee flavor rich with coconut flakes and a toasted marshmallow. They also had seasonal flavors which are listed right by the register - right now its Dulce De Leche & Mango. This is a cute date spot, family spot & hangout place. I stopped dead in my tracks on a cold and rainy night when I spotted this cute ice cream shop. I love rolled ice cream and had to try out what they were offering. Everyone behind the counter was welcoming and personable when my friend and I arrived. They have a great variety of ice cream flavors, toppings and special combos. After having dinner at another Montclair establishment, Absolute Zero Ice Cream was a nice compliment to end the night. I had seen videos and pictures of rolled up ice cream on social media but never had an opportunity to try it until this past Saturday night. For $7.50 with taxes included, I was able to finally to cross it off my bucket list. I decided to go simple and went with the Oreo ice cream base. After getting called up for my turn, I got to interact with an employee named Tanya who was incredibly nice and helpful. Tanya managed to answer the questions I had, help me choose some toppings, and did so in a very time-efficient manner. After this experience, I'd definitely say I'm a fan of rolled up ice cream. Not only did it taste good, but I didn't feel rushed to finish in fear of melting. All in all, I would definitely come back when I'm in the Montclair area again. USEFUL INFO -There is only one size available and it's $7.50 with tax included. Credit cards are accepted. -It's a cool experience to see the ice cream base getting chopped and formed. I'm sure kids would enjoy visiting just to see the process. -You can pick an unlimited amount of toppings. Delecious ice cream rolls! We came in the store in a hot (100 F) Sunday afternoon around 6:30. The place was packed with customers standing in line to order their individual selection. They chopped the ingredients (most fruits) and mixed with condensed milk on a frozen cold plate. The mixture is smashed and smeared across the plate before the skilled operator cut and rolled them into five rolls in a ice cream cup. You can add various topping or sauces for a final touch. Awesome presentation at the end. You can stand by the counter and watch your order being made. We ordered Hill Smash and Berry Blast. Every selection is $7 with tax included. read more
I know the concept has been around for a while but the first time I actually had rolled ice cream was here this year, after having dinner in Montclair :) It has been pretty crowded all the times I've been here but the service is pretty quick considering that the staff has to work quite a bit to prepare the rolled ice cream. On my last visit here, I tried the Oo-Bae Bae which is Ube flavor (which by the way, is amazing with Oreo crumbs and condensed milk). I love that they don't charge you for additional toppings here, it's unlimited - everythings for a flat rate of $7 which is not bad at all. The staff is great, extremely welcoming and friendly. The wait hasn't been too bad for me yet, approximately 10 minutes after you place your order. I love how everything is made fresh - just milk/cream with whichever ingredients your heart desires and the staff will crush it down! It's actually quite fun to watch. They also have really cool spoons here that change colors! read more
