    Dirt cup Sundae
    Teena K.

Came here last weekend with a sweet treat in mind. Got the dirt cup sundae with gave me childhood nostalgia. A very big treat which can definitely be shared by at least 2 people.

    Cider Donut Sundae (~$15)

Ordered: Cider Donut Sundae (~$15): Dutch Apple ice cream layered with fresh apple cider donut crumbles and caramel, topped with whipped cream, cinnamon sugar, and a homemade cider donut, served in a keepsake Applegate glass Aya's take: Is it even Autumn if you haven't had an apple cider donut!? Applegate Farms will do you one better with their Cider Donut Sundae. It's exactly what it sounds like - sweet, spiced, and creamy. It was actually super satisfying especially with the layers of apple cider donut crumbles throughout. I love that it comes with a whole apple cider donut too that you can munch on while enjoying the sundae. The caramel was a bit too thick and made it harder to eat but other than that, it was a good try. It's massive so I definitely suggest sharing among 2-3 people and don't forget to take that keepsake glass home with you! The line situation was inefficient and the staff is generally slow so keep in mind that there are multiple lines all serving the full menu and know what you want when you get up to order. Worth a try if you're in the area!

Came here on a Sunday night and it was absolutely packed, but the lines moved fairly quickly and we were there for a total of 30 minutes (a long time fir ice cream, I know). There's a lot of parking in the back, as well as on the street. They don't have a place for you to eat the ice cream so most people I saw would just go back to their cars. I got their Graham Central and it was definitely better than others I have tried. It was like biting into a graham cracker! Their junior cup was huge and fairly priced (5.50 I believe). It was definitely good, but considering it has been named one of the best in New Jersey, it didn't fully live up to par with other ice cream places I've tried in Montclair.

Don't cheat yourself treat yourself! This is great hot chocolate you will not regret coming here. It's super tasty. I tried the gingerbread and the cookies and cream, hot chocolate and was not disappointed. It's very filling, however, so you could probably share one drink with somebody else. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. The presentation of the hot chocolate made it Insta worthy. Be mindful seating is outdoors. You might want to sit inside the car.

What a cute and charming ice cream spot! I love that it's open all year round, perfect for whenever you're craving a sweet treat, even in the colder months. They have a wide variety of flavors, so there's something for everyone. I did a one scoop sundae with the cookies and cream and everything was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. There isn't any indoor or outdoor seating, but there's plenty of parking available. Most people just enjoy their ice cream in their cars, which actually adds to the laid-back, local vibe of the place. It's simple, no-frills, and all about great ice cream. I'll definitely be coming back to try more flavors!

As the summer was coming to an end, we simply had to stop at Applegate Farms for our last licks of ice cream. As you're driving, you'll quickly spot a ginormous, fake cow, and you'll know you have arrived. During the summer, this place is packed, and the lines move fairly quickly. This time, during the fall, the lines were minimal. You can scan or just take a photo of their offered flavors prior to ordering. The last time I was here, I ordered their famous peach ice cream. It was good but a bit too sweet for me. My husband loved it. This time around, I ordered a Cappuccino Crunch ice cream, my husband ordered Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie ice cream, and our kid ordered a "root beer" float. Upon tasting the "root beer," we noted it didn't taste like root beer. The server explained it wasn't, as they were very low on root beer, so he substituted it with Coke instead. He also explained he's a new hire and didn't think to ask if it was okay for him to switch. The drink was okay, but we wish we had been given a heads-up. The serving size is interesting. Most of the time, their junior size is huge, so I ordered a junior, as did my husband. Oddly, when we received them, they both looked vastly different. When the server charged us, he had me as a regular cone and my husband as a junior, and the kid's drink as a regular root beer float. When we brought it to his attention, he stated he made a mistake, and he's new and had already rung it up. Oy. The place, when it's crazy busy, can obviously be a hard place to keep clean, but most of the people are very good at cleaning up after themselves. There are no chairs or tables where you can sit and enjoy, but there are barrels where you can put your drinks or cups down as you stand by, or makeshift benches by the wooden planks. There are no bathrooms, so be prepared to bring plenty of wipes, as the ice cream melts fairly quickly. The servers are very nice and patient as you decide what to get. Regarding new hires, hopefully, the managers will either train their new employees more or be nearby should the new employees run into any trouble, and not feel scared to ask their manager for help when they make mistakes. We chose not to say anything, as we all were once new hires. I give it 3 1/2 stars, but I've rounded it up to 4.

    Samah I.

Okay the only reason this isn't a five stars is because I'm pretty sure I was given the wrong ice cream scoops lol BUT it was all still fabulousssss. Now ten bucks will get you FOUR HUUUUGE SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM and they have a million flavors. I really wish they did half scoops because I would've loved to have tried more. They do allow a maximum of three flavor samplings and they give you a hefty spoonful to taste. I ordered yellow cake batter, graham central station, maple walnut and salted caramel. I can tell you for sure I could tell what graham central was and maple walnut but the other two flavors in my cup, no idea because neither tasted like what I ordered. For one, there were chocolate chips in one of them??? No clue. Graham central was insaneeee though by far my favorite with HUGEEEE pieces of fudgey chocolate. I would get a quart of that next time. I would skip toppings because I got marshmallow sauce and there was barely any on there and it was like a dollar fifty. I will say though I was such a glutton to get four scoops so that's probably my own fault why they probably couldn't put so much on but even my friend who got two scoops barely anything on it. (I shared my ice cream with someone else I promise I'm not that gluttonous) Also we had no wait and we were there on a Sunday a bit past noon, so maybe that's the best time to go. I do also realize I went in November so maybe that's why there weren't any lines lol

PROS: ice cream was great, prices were decent, staff was friendly, menu variety was plentiful, and atmosphere was farm-like CONS: the workers moved so slow that I thought they were gonna stop. Didn't seem like they cared. A line of 20 people took 45-60 minutes OVERALL: I think this is a nice place, they have parking and seating. Along with great ice cream. But they need to speed up the process without sacrificing quality

So bomb! Every flavor I've tried is creamy and yummy! Cute cow decor outside. They're fast at service but there's usually a line, so just prepare to wait a little.

    Very crowded Mother's Day
    She A.

Went here on a beautiful, sunny Mother's Day Sunday for some ice cream after brunch and botanical garden with 4 other people. The place was PACKED. We definitely had to divide and conquer with standing in separate lines. Speaking of lines...OOOOHHHMMMMMMMGGGGGG. We were in line for over an hour and 15 minutes!!!!! When one of us finally got to the front to order, we almost forgot about the wait,...almost. I got dulce de leche and rum raisin. My ice cream was smooth, creamy and ooh so yummy. The servers there did the best they could with the crowd and was friendly.

I've been coming here for years. It's one of my favorite ice cream spots in North Jersey. During warm months the lines can be quite lengthy and parking limited, but that's to be expected. The dulce de leche ice cream is absolutely worth the trip! Although it is open year round, there are no bathrooms or seating so be prepared if it's crowded.

Totally amazing ice cream ! I love this place it's so cute ( looks like a farm ) and is spacious outdoor seating . You choose the ice cream you want and there are tons of flavors . There are a few servers and the place is packed there is always a line but they are efficient and it moves pretty quickly !I chose the homemade strawberry cheesecake it is to die for !!! Very good ice cream and we sat outside it is so cute and delicious I will definitely be returning for more :)

So I told myself the next time I pass by I would definitely stop to try some. This was the day. Walked in to find one family seated at a table, enjoying their gelato. And then a girl and a guy behind the counter, they were both sitting but when I came in , the girl popped up immediately to help which look , I don't mind them sitting at all , I wouldn't want to be standing the entire time either. What I didn't love was that the boy looked like he could care less that there was a customer and continued to just play on his phone. The girl was really nice. I asked her to try the cheddar cheese flavor which I thought was incredibly wild to even have as an option. And i'm still confused how you can make gelato taste like cheddar cheese , but still be a dessert, it was good! I decided on marscapone and black sesame and had a seat to enjoy my Gelato. The Mars Capone was absolutely delicious. It was creamy, it was the right consistency. On the other hand I didn't love the black sesame. It didn't have a very strong flavor and I didn't like the crunchy whole black Sesame seeds. Usually when I get black sesame somewhere , the seeds are pretty much ground up. Before I left , I took a second look at the flavors and definitely have to go back to try some more of the unique ones. I'm actually pretty shocked that they only have 3.7 stars, I enjoyed the Gelato, hope it wasn't a fluke!
