Tried out Shakeman tonight. It was a decent place. It's a walk-up window right off Verona Park. They've got a nice selection of ice cream, shakes, and sandwiches. The taco place next door looks good. I ordered the Marshmallow Meltdown: it was a mix of chocolate milkshake with marshmallows and chocolate chips. The flavor combo and textures were a nice mix. They had some pretty cool other flavors, but they all just seemed alright. I'd go back but nothing super special to be seen here. read more

I stopped after seeing this location for the week. I'm SO happy I did. Their ice cream custard is smooth and Italian ice was flavorful and perfect. I can tell this business is here to STAY! It's in an ideal location right next to the park, has outdoor seating and such a fun menu! I can imagine they'd going to have bumps in the road as a new business, but the service was great and everyone was working hard to help with service. If my first visit tells be anything, it's worth it- this place is a GEM! read more

This place is usually pretty good but tonight was a disaster. We ordered two spoon shakes and with tip it came to over $20. While the ice creams were being made a group of teenage guys were distracting the girls that were working. When we received them, my spoonshake(Oreo afagato) was very thin, missing all the extras it's supposed to come with, and was not full like it normally is. When I went back to request a refund, the girl asked what was wrong and I gave her the break down of what's wrong. She responded by saying there were out of the crunchy toppings and that it should have said that on the board. I looked again and it was not crossed off. it took almost 20 minutes at which point the girl said you will see $7 refunded by tomorrow. At this point I reminded her that the spoonshakes are $8. After another 5 minutes I gave up and left without a full refund. read more

Saw this on IG as a new place in North Jersey so I decided to give it a try. It's a hole in the wall type of ice cream shop and I love their unique logo. We came here on a Saturday night around 7pm and thought the place was going to be packed. The place is off a main road so don't expect there to be any parking. We got lucky and parked the empty lot next door where there will be a taco place opening up. As I was sitting there some people have put their hazards on the Main Street, ordered, waited, and then jumped back in their car, so I anticipate there being a lot of traffic once the taco place opens up. Anyway, I ordered a chocolate mint shake which I was very disappointed in. I guess I had a different expectation of how the shake would've been made. What I essentially got was a mint shake (no complaints there) with groceries sized chocolate chips thrown to the bottom of the cup, and a regular sized straw that didn't even allow me to suck up the chips. If I wanted mint ice cream with chocolate chips on top, I would've just ordered that. I envisioned the milkshake to have the chocolate chips blended IN to the mint shake itself... the shake was good. Nice and thick but not thick to the point where you can't drink it, but was just disappointed at the actually chocolate chips.. My husband ordered the Oreo afagato which took about 10 mins to make...not exactly sure why. I've worked at Starbucks before back in the day (literally- when I had to pull the espresso myself) and those espresso shots take less than 2 minute to pull. A crowd showed up after up with families ordering milkshakes after who got all their drinks after while my husband waited. Trust me- his was delicious but not really sure why this took that long to make... We got our son a regular chocolate soft serve which I probably would've just shared with him because it did come in a decent size up. The creaminess of the soft serve was perfect. So I would highly recommend their soft serve. Overall the place isn't bad for a small location in Verona, but nothing I would drive 20 mins for. I'm glad I got to try it before this place got too social media popular and if I was in the area, I'd probably come back. I can't speak for the cleanliness since you can't really see anything in the back of the store, but if you're craving ice cream and you happen to pass by, definitely take a look. read more

Decent milkshakes with some fun twist. I recommend the Oreo. Service is a little slow, but it is milkshakes and being that it's new, the line always long. To go only but Verona park near by makes for a fun ambiance. read more

Seems social media is creating a stir for this business as the line was out to the street. It is right next to Verona park so it could be a nice treat after a walk. However, improvements can be made. While the line was long it goes quick. It looks like all teenagers were working but that is typical summers for ice cream joints. Now, if your namesake involves shakes they should be good but I was so disappointed I couldn't finish. It seems like they just give a few squirts to the outside of the cup and put the ice cream in. Regardless of process the flavors were very light and as the cups were not labeled my husband could not tell what was what when he tasted both. I had Dulce de leche and he got espresso. Another member of our party got a chocolate shake and said it tasted like vanilla with some chocolate syrup added and not a true chocolate. The best thing of the bunch was the Oreo affogato. At $7 a shake I expected better. read more

I went there and got two milkshakes and a sweet thang spoonshake. I asked if I could get the sweet thang without snickers BECAUSE I AM ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS. The girl working there said yes. Then proceeded to make my shake wrong not once but TWICE I tasted peanut butter and started to have an allergic reaction. She was not apologetic and very offstandish. I will never be going back there lol. Terrible customer service. And not accommodating to allergies! I don't know if she put snickers in it or the machine just isn't cleaned enough and has peanuts on it or something but either way she was not nice and didn't even say sorry after I had to come back three times! read more

The bad no customer service not very helpful w lactose free options which on TV was offered. Young staff had no experience in customer service. The shakes are great the cups and bowls are also very good the taste is amazing and filling well portioned. Flavors are great w diverse tastes and flavors very good product overall. read more

Tried it twice. First time my husband got a strawberry banana shake which was soup. I got the marshmallow meltdown "spoon shake"which was good, but basically the consistency of a regular shake. Tried again since it seemed to have other good reviews, but again strawberry banana was basically liquid and this time my marshmallow meltdown was missing the marshmallows and graham crackers, so basically the equivalent of a (very) soft serve chocolate ice cream and chocolate chips. Sorry to say that I don't think we'll be back again. read more

Another hidden gem. Adorable little shake in the heart of Verona known for shakes. It is only open in the summer and is always crowded. We found Sunday afternoons (or rainy days) to be the best time to visit with the least crowds. We have been loving ShakeMan over the last few weeks! The chocolate mint chip milkshake is a consistent favorite. The PB blast spoonable is also great. One rec. for improvement: they used to have wider straws that allowed for the chips in the milkshake, but lately they switched to "regular" straws that get clogged by the chips. I end up with a mountain of chips at the bottom of my cup, which ruins my shake a bit. Please go back to wide straws! read more

This shake was totally worth the calories. My husband and I split the S'mores shake, my daughter had a custom blended shake of Oreo and dulce de Leche and the other member of our group got vanilla soft serve. Everything was great, especially the shakes. read more

Food was good, delicious Service, let me make this clear there was no service. The girl working the register didn't know where she was, she didn't understand a "waffle sandwich" was a sandwich with waffles. Parking is tight but that isn't really on the place If you come here food is good, but service is very questionable, be weary. read more

For our first visit, we are enjoying the dulce de leche milkshake and King Cone Spoonable. Service was courteous and fast. We lucked out with a parking spot on-street directly across on a day and time that was legal and 2 moments where Bloomfield wasn't crazy busy. (A crosswalk would be great there.) read more
