I ordered the omelette and customized it with egg whites, a berry crepe, and my husband had a breakfast crepe. The food was delicious and came out perfect. The crepes are huge and stuffed to the max. Came here early Sunday afternoon looking for breakfast, and this spot was it for the weekend. There's metered street parking, so that's no issue. There are several metal chairs and taxes out front. The spot was crowded, but jas customers in and out as I sat to eat my breakfast. I ordered the 3 eggs omlette with spinach, Swiss, and bacon with a large cappuccino. The cappuccino was large, so I'll order the small next time. But my omelet came with a butter crossaint, mixed green salad with a half slice of pineapple, and strawberry jam in a recycled brown cardboard container. The food was fresh and delicious. I have been to this perfect little neighborhood gem several times over the years, and I have never been disappointed. Many customers are greeted by name as they clearly have many regulars. The ambiance is nothing fancy, but you will feel comfortable. As for the food you really cannot go wrong. The soups are very popular. The tomato basil is perfection, and they serve it with an exceptional roll. Every crepe I have had, both savory and sweet, has been delicious. Also, they are huge! This is a quaint little place, unassuming with just a few tables inside. We ordered the Strawberry, Banana, Nutella crepe together with a hot cappuccino and an iced caramel macchiato. I have to say that the crepe was delicious and was generously filled. The cappuccino was also good but I can't say the same for the iced caramel macchiato. They used a caramel flavored syrup, but not caramel itself I think and it left an artificial aftertaste in ny opinion. We will be going back for that crepe :) read more

Haven't been in a while so decided to order lunch while we were home working and schooling virtual. I've been over the years and don't remember Bonjour blowing me away, but I do enjoy their coffee. Lunch wasn't anything spectacular, some of the comments were "too much bread for my turkey sandwich" and "the mozzarella wasn't that good." The Grilled Chicken sandwich gained good reviews and the salads were a plus. Overall, on the average, but I'm sure I'll continue to pop in for a cup of coffee or whatever. read more

When I first moved to the area I probably ordered from Bonjour on a weekly basis, and over the years through delivery service I've probably spent thousands with them. On the few occasions that I've gone into the restaurant my experiences haven't been great but weren't necessarily terrible either. Today I decided to order pick up and go into the restaurant to get my crepes. I gave them a good 25 minutes to get the order ready and grabbed a coffee nearby while the order was being prepared. When I got to Bonjour I saw my bag stapled closed, on the counter, with my name written large and in bold red marker. I then picked up the bag, loudly said thank you to the cook and proceeded to walk out. The cook then looked at me with a funny look and said which one is that? I told him the name and he said ok (again with a weird look on his face). I've always gotten the sense from this place that they think I'm a delivery man when I'm picking up my own food and they don't treat me with the respect you would give to a customer, especially one who has patronized your business for years. Not to mention even if I were an Uber or DoorDash delivery person I should be given the same respect as anyone. So I go to the car (feeling as though they suspected I stole my own food) when I get to the car and check the bag I see they gave me no utensils and no napkins. I go back in and up to the counter and I ask the woman behind the register for utensils and napkins, another man was there at the counter and he had asked for the same. She hears me but didn't acknowledge, she grabs his utensils and napkins, looks at me, drops the items in his bag, so, I wait patiently assuming she will get to me next, whatever. She then roughly grabs my bag, makes a face, and says "what is this". I said you've got to be kidding me, "what is this" you say, just then the chef chimes in and goes relax. I told them they can give me a refund or the utensils I asked for and I make clear that will be my last time in there. The food is ok but it's nothing to write home about, so having terrible customer service and some more insidious undertones are all I need to see in order to end this patronage. read more

I like big crepes and I cannot lie . We tried to order from our usual place (Le Petit Parisian) and found out that they took all the crepes off the menu. The horror. So we drove to the next option, Bonjour! This place is small but they have additional outdoor seating. It's casual so service wasn't like a sit down restaurant. We ordered dessert crepes and they were huge! Way bigger than le petit. All of us were full but had to force ourselves to finish because the crepes were so delicious. I ordered breakfast for pick up the other day from here. There is street metered parking available in front of the restaurant. I ordered 2 crepes for my boyfriend and I to try. I ordered the smoked salmon crepe with goat cheese, tomato, pesto and the morning crepe with feta and tomato. I didn't enjoy them as much as I would have liked to cause the cheese overpowered the crepe in both for me. It just tasted way too salty, partially my fault for going with those cheeses. Maybe next time I'll go for different cheeses. Without the goat cheese in the salmon crepe, it tasted delicious. And the portions are big. read more

Bonjour Montclair is my #1 go to place for Outstanding Authentic Crepes! The crêperie is small with wooden tables inside. However, Great things do come in small packages. Some Parisian Style Pictures adorn the cafe. One picture cites the top places to see in Paris. You order at the counter, Counter service is very friendly. Should you decide to stay, a server will bring you the food on a platter whether your sitting inside or outside of the café. My favorite Crepe has Grilled Chicken, Brie,Tomatoes and Pinenuts. I must have Brie Cheese in all of my crepes :). Have to say all the crepe combinations are very good. IMPORTANT NOTE: Bonjour Montclair definitely does not skimp on any ingredients in their crepes. You get what you order and PLENTY of it. All the crepes come with a small side salad and a slice of a fruit in season. My past slices of fruits have been fresh watermelon, pineapple and cantaloupe. Delicious fresh and refreshing juices are available. Two of the juices I've had are (1) Cucumber and (2) a Combination Carrot and Ginger Juice. Cappuccino, Expresso and many teas are available too! This place is tiny. So don't go strolling in here with a group thinking you're going to get a table. The dining room (if you call it that) can probably seat no more than 12. The crepes, however, are delicious and that's all that matters. We opted for 1 savory and 1 sweet to balance things out. The saltiness of the prosciutto on the savory offset the sweetness of the cinnamon apple on the sweet. At first, I was skeptical about paying just under $20 for two crepes, but the portions were very generous. The $4.75 for the large fresh squeeze OJ, on the other hand, was not. The OJ was delicious (and fresh, as advertised), but the cup was no more than 12 oz. Kind of steep. Aside from the price on the OJ, the only other reasons I'm at 4 stars is because: 1) They don't accept credit cards. Bonjour! This is 2016. Get with the times. 2) I didn't care for eating my crepe on a styrofoam plate with a plastic fork and knife, but I think the place is so small, they probably just can't accommodate a dishwasher. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Was very excited to finally try this place after reading all the wonderful reviews but I never even got to try it. I am in such shock at how horrible their customer service is. The lady in the front looked over whelmed due to being understaffed and several orders but it is no excuse for such a rude behavior towards employees and customers! I ordered 2 sweet crepes and she told me it would take 30 min. 30 min turned into an hour and 15. After going in there several times to check up on my order I heard her being extremely rude screaming profanities at the people working the kitchen. I was in shock. The only reason I left off a star, was because of the mild humidity smell that was apparent as soon as I walked in. Once we were seated and chose to sit near the food, the smell quickly disappeared. First time here so the five stars is strictly for this visit. I pray the Stars being aligned perfectly for this visit was not simply a fluke. The lady working the counter met us with smiles and a sweet personality. Instant plus !!! This place is simple in terms of decor and style but cozy and welcoming. Sometimes all the thrills and frills are a distraction to the lack of service and food but not here at Bonjour Montclair. These team has a winning formula that other places can only dream of having. OK now to my meal....Ooooo Man was I blessed this morning with a mouth watering stomach satisfying Steak, egg and cheese with mayo on my hero sandwich. Talk about heavenly bliss. And all for $7.50, Woooow...Not so much that it was out of this world than simply being perfect for this hungry big man. The best Ive had for sometime. A good crepe is very hard to find, its thin, delicate pretty much a very thin version of pancakes. Of course, I ordered a crepe here, which consisted of mushrooms, spinach, onions and goat cheese. They aren't cheap with their ingredients because it was heavily stuffed. Mushrooms were large, spinach was lacking seasoning, onions were just simply sauteed and the goat cheese was the absolute winner. I would have loved if the crepe was a little bit more crispy though, it would've made a big difference. It also came with a side salad and a pineapple slice, all for $9.50. The bacon egg and cheese was ordinary, served on a hero bread with a side of jam. Service consisted of a young lady taking care of the small dining area by herself. Everything is served on styrofoam plates and provided with plastic utensils. Food came out reasonably fast but the strawberry shake took a bit long and was served with the food. I wanted to come here because I moved to NJ from Montreal about a year and a half ago, and I miss French breakfast and coffee. Sadly, we were disappointed. While waiting for a friend to arrive, my hubby and I split a croissant and ordered coffee. The coffee had a bad taste and the croissant was okay, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the croissant French toast with fresh fruit. In all honesty, it wasn't even bad, but it said it was served with caramelized pears, and it came out with more berries than pears. The fresh fruit juices were banging. Made to order and simply hearing the juice machine put smiles on our faces. Both drinks were lovely, fresh and healthy for us! Both crepe plates came with fresh half slice of pineapple... Yum! The savory crepes come with a side salad and the sweet crepes come with whipped cream. These crepes were amazing! I will cut to the chase on this one: incredible crepes, very nice people, but every time I eat here I definitely kill at least eleven sea turtles. Everything is disposable - plates, cups, cutlery, napkins (that's normal though) and the plates are even made of styrofoam. Now that you know that, another important thing to know is that they do not take cards so be prepared. Also, they love putting pineapple on the side which I think is cool. I usually get the lemon crepe, which I really like. A good place to catch up with a small group of friends, quick service, and outdoor seating in the warmer months as well.
