Stopped into Benvenuti, again, and enjoyed great gelato. It's not surprising, why this gelateria has such a high Yelp rating, with 100 reviews. The shop is clean, the service is cordial, and the generous servings of gelato are award winning. Hopefully, one day soon, you'll get to experience Benvenuti and enjoy the happiness.
Continuing my ice cream kick this summer brought me to Benvenuti. I was surprised when I walked in to see a short list of flavors and of course the one I wanted (strawberry) they didn't have much of. They did offer to make another batch with a 15 min wait. I decided to go with the mango flavor with the little bit of strawberry that was left on top. I thought the mango was just ok, but definitely was a fan of the strawberry. Added bonus was the seating outside.
I love the gelato from this cute little shop. It tasted very authentic. They have some regular flavors and then some seasonal flavors as well. Normally I get pistachio because its the best, but my recent visit was during October and they had a pumpkin spice flavor. It was really good too! I would recommend it if its in season and you like anything pumpkin related. I love that they offer a little piece of cone with your scoop! The service is always friendly and quick! They also offer a variety of Italian products from chocolate to coffee.
WOW! I stopped by after creating candles next door at Alchemy and enjoyed the best pistachio gelato I've ever had! I ordered a small which was more than enough to cure my sweet tooth. Whenever I need my gelato fix, I'll definitely be back for the pistachio flavor!
I was looking for vegan ice cream options in downtown Montclair and yelp recommended this ice cream place and the other rolled ice cream place both with excellent reviews. As I am a huge fan of the rolled ice cream, I was at the other place first but I got disappointed seeing the line till the door which was partially because of their slow service, we were asked to wait for 30 minutes, so I had no option but to walk further to this place. This place was crowded too, but the service was quick. I was disappointed when I got to know that they had only 1 diary/egg free option that was mango sorbet. Wish they had more diary free options as their regular flavors looked creamy and smooth. My child got their hazelnut ice cream. He loved it. The mango sorbet was alright.
While in Montclair, my friends and I were looking for a sweet treat and we came across Benvenuti! The staff were friendly about letting us try the flavors and they had some unique flavors! My friend's matcha gelato was scooped BEAUTIFULLY and looked perfect on top of her cone. I got the hazelnut gelato and it was delicious! Benvenuti is a great gelato spot to try if you're in the area!
This is such a great spot for gelato in a quiet walkable area of Montclair. Church street has a lot of great restaurants, and this gelateria is a great spot for dessert if you're in town. The employees here are super friendly and allow you to taste all the gelato flavors to make sure you select your favorite. Don't be afraid to combine two flavors as well! They offer cold drinks as well but this time we went for the pistachio gelato and hazelnut gelato. We also added a chocolate chip cookie and an espresso to our order because I can't go without coffee. Gelato here is spot on delicious, some of the best in NJ in my opinion. There is tons of seating outside so it's perfect for sunset and a romantic outing.
Ordered: Small Gelato Cup (~$5): half strawberry & half pistachio Aya's take: We were walking around the area after dinner and stumbled upon Benvenuti. They probably have around 10 flavors to choose from, and if I'm being honest, none of them stood out to me. After trying a couple, I ultimately went with strawberry & pistachio knowing they wouldn't disappoint. Don't get me wrong; the gelato is smooth, creamy, and fresh! There's just nothing unique about it - but it is the only spot in Montclair to get gelato. Cute seating area outside and friendly staff.
Went in to try some gelato..but girl who worked there was MIA for about 8 min so hubby went next door to Chip City to have with our cappuccino that we were waiting to order. Thought we would get a delicious cup being as though this is an authentic establishment but...cappuccino was probably worst I've had..hubby agreed Dunkin was probably better and that is terrible
5 stars for the gelato! Wowowowowow, they make all their gelato fresh, in house. I tried the mascarpone which was so creamy and tasty & the fruity one which is made with fresh berries. 4 stars for the pastries which had potential but just weren't fresh when I visited. Will be back!
My new favorite gelato spot in Montclair. It's a cute little place in the downtown area with outside seating. We came here last night for a post dinner treat and so happy we did. The people working there were friendly, warm and let us try the flavors before committing to one. I tried the vegan matcha and dark chocolate sorbet before deciding that the dark chocolate sorbet was the winner. My husband got the pistachio gelato. The gelato was creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. This will be my go to spot for gelato going forward.

We were curious to try it as we had walked past it very often. They have outside seating and a couple of tables inside, there is no bathroom which isn't great. I got their nocciola gelato and it was delicious! The price was okay, $5.5 for a very small cup. They only had 4 flavors so definitely lacking variety but I wonder if maybe they switch them daily, I guess i'll have to go again to find out! read more
We were in the mood for a cold sweet treat and satisfied both needs here after a customer outside vouched for the gelato. Unfortunately they only had three flavors of gelato available because they were making another batch. We settled on a medium hazelnut ($6.5) which was good but rather small for the two scoops. They also sell some Italian pastries that didn't look that great. They also sell pints of gelato which may be a better deal. There are a few small tables outside if you want to people watch and the weather is nice. That street has plenty of other eateries and stores. read more

When I walked into this gelateria over the weekend, I definitely didn't think I'd leave with a vague pot brownie taste in my mouth. My chum and I stopped here for dessert after having lunch nearby. It's a pretty small shop with a few tables to sit at, as well as a couple of display counters/freezers housing Italian pastries along with the gelato (which certainly seemed to be their bread and butter). We were served quickly and ably by a friendly employee. Maybe I just picked the wrong flavor, but the only one that appealed to me in the moment was salted caramel. Their salted caramel though was only available with CBD. I'd never actually tried any type of ice cream with CBD in it before (and was pretty ambivalent about it) but figured I'd give it a shot since I wasn't feeling the other available options. The small cup I ordered came to a little less than $5 - in my experience, gelato tends to be heavier and more expensive than normal ice cream, so not a big deal price pointwise, in my opinion. It came with a piece of an artisanal cone as decoration, which was a nice aesthetic touch. One issue that my chum noticed - the level of the bottom of the cup is super misleading. From the outside of the cup, you'd assume the interior goes all the way down but it's actually raised about a quarter to a half an inch inside so you're not getting nearly as much as you'd think. Personally, I think they should invest in a different style of cup. The gelato itself was fine. I like to think I have some street cred in this area, having studied abroad in Florence and spending most of that time in gelaterias. It honestly seemed kind of bland by comparison (which is not my typical experience with salted caramel flavored items). And just based on my personal palate, I wasn't crazy about the CBD, which you could definitely taste. My chum commented (and I agreed) that this isn't the flavor I would have chosen for a CBD infusion. She ordered the Hot Cocoa and seemed to enjoy it more than me, inhaling it in about two minutes. If I returned, it would be for a different flavor that didn't make me feel like I was at a Phish concert. read more

Went here for a quick dessert during a beautiful late spring night in Montclair. We both got gelato since it was warm outside. I got the cookie butter gelato and it tasted almost like the Trader Joe's cookie butter, but not as sweet (which I did like.) my friend got the strawberry gelato and that looked good as well. Overall this is a cute place to stop on Church Street for a dessert! read more

Been wanting to try this gelato shop for a while. Unfortunately we couldn't and here is why. Came to Benvenuti at 9:30pm (it closes at 10pm). The door was locked with a note saying the employee was on break. We saw the girl inside dancing around in front of her phone, blasting music in the shop. She was just doing a TikTok video, 30 mins before closing. So ridiculous!! Update: Came back 20 minutes later, 9:54pm, door is still locked and she's still doing her TikTok video. Two other couples also tried to go there for gelato, but were turned away. Really sad that the business is losing customers due to this. No Bueno!! Still want to try this place, but the business owner needs to make sure that if the hours say it's open till 10pm, that the shop is actually open until 10pm. read more

4.7 / 5 only because their pistachio does not live up to the authenticity. Regardless, their Hazelnut and Stracciatella are both top notch. Hazelnut is very nutty and delicious. The service was very friendly as well and let us try some samples before deciding. Pricey but definitely worth it. I'll be back if I am in the area! read more

Great find, walked past and stopped for dessert. The Gelato looked so inviting and was being freshly made. Tasted fantastic, fresh, light and soooo creamy. We took espresso and hazelnut, very subtle and delicious !!! Will recommend and come back to try more flavors. read more

This gelato spot has a variety of vegan gelato and sorbet! It's great they have dairy-free options. The few flavors we tried tasted so creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and luxurious! Can't wait to bring more family members to try this spot. Conveniently located on a cute street near cloths stores and restaurants. read more
This is Good gelato. Real good. *Italy* good, in fact. And no, i'm not exaggerating - it's got the right texture, it's at the right temperature, the flavors are spot on, and you're basically compelled to come back for seconds (and 3rds, and 4ths, and so on) The key seems to be that Roger (the owner. nice guy!) makes small batches, which ensures that the stuff you're getting is Oh-So-Fresh, and absolutely not been sitting there overnight. So yeah, if you're in the 'hood - go get some. And if you're not in the 'hood, you should make a point of going there to get some. Trust me, this is probably the best gelato I've had in the NYC area! read more

Was out to dinner with a friend, and I had a huge craving for ice cream (on National Ice Cream Day -- how appropriate), but it was not an option at the establishment we were dining at. After looking to see what was in the area, we came upon this place. It is not a large store by any means. In fact, when you walk inside, there are only a handful of tables for you to sit at (if you wanted to dine in) and the line to order had a few people on it and were already standing by the door. However, that was not any indication of the service/product here. The girls behind the counter were very attentive; the moment my friend and I were at the front of their line, they made sure we were taken care of without hesitation. I ordered a waffle cone bowl with Nutella and espresso gelato. Originally, I had wanted the pistachio, but it wasn't ready at that moment, so it looks like I will have to go back for it. One of my favorite things about this spot (weather permitting) is the outdoor seating. It's cozy without being completely isolated. If you're not sure about this place, check it out! Definitely worth the stop. Craving fulfilled! read more

All the flavors are stunning! I love the strawberry but the mango, hazelnut, cheesecake, and coffee flavors are all heavy hitters. There's something for everyone. It's an amazing experience in the summer and winter. I love love love love love this place. read more

Stopped by randomly while visiting Montclair. I'm always skeptical of ice cream or gelato shops because of my allergy to nuts. I informed the manager of my allergy and although it's not 100% safe, he shared that he does everything he can to reduce contact with allergens. I tried the dark chocolate gelato. (No allergic reaction!) It was really rich & tasted great. The manager was kind, made conversation with us & told us about his family & previous life in Italy. Guess you can say this place is super authentic. I'll be returning! read more

Really cute shop in Montclair selling home made gelato and some bakery items. The staff was really nice and friendly! I was happy they let me sample too! I had their tiramisu, chocolate, and salted caramel gelato flavors. The best one was the salted caramel flavor! It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The tiramisu flavor was also very good! The chocolate flavor I thought was just ok. I also had their brownies. Everything is alway super fresh! You can tell their baked goods are made the same day. The cheesecake brownie was very good! Their regular brownie with fudge icing on top was very moist, but it was cake like. I like my brownies more chewy and fudge like. I recommend Benvenuti in Montclair! read more
My husband and I decided to have a spontaneous time out with an old friend and we were walking the streets of Montclair in the evening. We decided to come here because it was one of the only things open and I am so glad we did. We were able to try any of the ice cream flavors and the employee was patient because I think we tried them all. The gelato is so worth it and they actually give you a pretty good portion. I got the pistachio gelato with pistachio crunch and it was delicious. Our friend got the fiore di latte with coffee crunch and he enjoyed his as well. But the best thing about this place was the service. They let us stay outside and eat our gelato way past closing time. We were asked how the was and the employees and owner were very kind. You don't get that type of service often. Very much recommend coming here. The price is a little up there, but it is definitely worth it. Can't wait to be back! read more
