Yes, mam. i highly suggest you get the espresso milkshake. its not too thick, you do not have to wait for it to melt. the shake itself is creamy. they blend this with 100% italian espresso, not just milk. So if you're looking for that kick, look no further. keep in mind they have other seasonal flavors of the gelato to blend in for the shake. you can also buy tubs of the gelato in the freezer off to the side I also grabbed a red velvet cookie, i didnt hate this, but felt it was a little dry. I will gladly come back for the house made cannolli and another espresso milkshake. read more

Unfortunately they only had three flavors of gelato available because they were making another batch. We settled on a medium hazelnut ($6.5) which was good but rather small for the two scoops. They also sell some Italian pastries that didn't look that great. They also sell pints of gelato which may be a better deal. Continuing my ice cream kick this summer brought me to Benvenuti. I was surprised when I walked in to see a short list of flavors and of course the one I wanted (strawberry) they didn't have much of. They did offer to make another batch with a 15 min wait. I decided to go with the mango flavor with the little bit of strawberry that was left on top. I love the gelato from this cute little shop. It tasted very authentic. They have some regular flavors and then some seasonal flavors as well. Normally I get pistachio because its the best, but my recent visit was during October and they had a pumpkin spice flavor. It was really good too! My new favorite gelato spot in Montclair. It's a cute little place in the downtown area with outside seating. We came here last night for a post dinner treat and so happy we did. The people working there were friendly, warm and let us try the flavors before committing to one. I tried the vegan matcha and dark chocolate sorbet before deciding that the dark chocolate sorbet was the winner. My husband got the pistachio gelato. The gelato was creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. This will be my go to spot for gelato going forward. read more

When I walked into this gelateria over the weekend, I definitely didn't think I'd leave with a vague pot brownie taste in my mouth. My chum and I stopped here for dessert after having lunch nearby. It's a pretty small shop with a few tables to sit at, as well as a couple of display counters/freezers housing Italian pastries along with the gelato (which certainly seemed to be their bread and butter). We were served quickly and ably by a friendly employee. Maybe I just picked the wrong flavor, but the only one that appealed to me in the moment was salted caramel. Their salted caramel though was only available with CBD. I'd never actually tried any type of ice cream with CBD in it before (and was pretty ambivalent about it) but figured I'd give it a shot since I wasn't feeling the other available options. The small cup I ordered came to a little less than $5 - in my experience, gelato tends to be heavier and more expensive than normal ice cream, so not a big deal price pointwise, in my opinion. It came with a piece of an artisanal cone as decoration, which was a nice aesthetic touch. One issue that my chum noticed - the level of the bottom of the cup is super misleading. From the outside of the cup, you'd assume the interior goes all the way down but it's actually raised about a quarter to a half an inch inside so you're not getting nearly as much as you'd think. Personally, I think they should invest in a different style of cup. The gelato itself was fine. I like to think I have some street cred in this area, having studied abroad in Florence and spending most of that time in gelaterias. It honestly seemed kind of bland by comparison (which is not my typical experience with salted caramel flavored items). And just based on my personal palate, I wasn't crazy about the CBD, which you could definitely taste. My chum commented (and I agreed) that this isn't the flavor I would have chosen for a CBD infusion. She ordered the Hot Cocoa and seemed to enjoy it more than me, inhaling it in about two minutes. If I returned, it would be for a different flavor that didn't make me feel like I was at a Phish concert. read more

Been wanting to try this gelato shop for a while. Unfortunately we couldn't and here is why. Came to Benvenuti at 9:30pm (it closes at 10pm). The door was locked with a note saying the employee was on break. We saw the girl inside dancing around in front of her phone, blasting music in the shop. She was just doing a TikTok video, 30 mins before closing. So ridiculous!! Update: Came back 20 minutes later, 9:54pm, door is still locked and she's still doing her TikTok video. Two other couples also tried to go there for gelato, but were turned away. Really sad that the business is losing customers due to this. No Bueno!! Still want to try this place, but the business owner needs to make sure that if the hours say it's open till 10pm, that the shop is actually open until 10pm. read more

Visited 02/28/2023 After eating too much around the corner... we (like so many others stumbled into Benvenuti for "a cup of coffee... etc." Gonna keep it short except to say the gelato (chocolate/caramel and pistachio/hazelnut) were maybe the best gelato we've ever had. I may have to update this after our visit to Florence, Italy in May, but so far, Benvenuti has the best. The Lavazza cappuccino and espresso we had was also excellent. In fact, when you walk inside, there are only a handful of tables for you to sit at (if you wanted to dine in) and the line to order had a few people on it and were already standing by the door. However, that was not any indication of the service/product here. The girls behind the counter were very attentive; the moment my friend and I were at the front of their line, they made sure we were taken care of without hesitation. I ordered a waffle cone bowl with Nutella and espresso gelato. Originally, I had wanted the pistachio, but it wasn't ready at that moment, so it looks like I will have to go back for it. One of my favorite things about this spot (weather permitting) is the outdoor seating. It's cozy without being completely isolated. If you're not sure about this place, check it out! Stopped by randomly while visiting Montclair. I'm always skeptical of ice cream or gelato shops because of my allergy to nuts. I informed the manager of my allergy and although it's not 100% safe, he shared that he does everything he can to reduce contact with allergens. I tried the dark chocolate gelato. (No allergic reaction!) It was really rich & tasted great. The manager was kind, made conversation with us & told us about his family & previous life in Italy. My husband and I decided to have a spontaneous time out with an old friend and we were walking the streets of Montclair in the evening. We decided to come here because it was one of the only things open and I am so glad we did. We were able to try any of the ice cream flavors and the employee was patient because I think we tried them all. The gelato is so worth it and they actually give you a pretty good portion. I got the pistachio gelato with pistachio crunch and it was delicious. Our friend got the fiore di latte with coffee crunch and he enjoyed his as well. But the best thing about this place was the service. They let us stay outside and eat our gelato way past closing time. We were asked how the was and the employees and owner were very kind.
