Paper Plane Coffee is located in Upper Montclair. Seating here is similar to a plane but being popular all were taken. Raj often comes here and today had a different coffee - the Paper Plane Tonic consisting of Orange, Tonic and Espresso. He enjoyed it a lot. I had the iced Nam-Dam which consisted of a cold brew with cardamom and sweetened condensed milk. It was delicious and I could have had two! We got high stools and sat by the front window. This cafe is Columbian-American with beans from Columbia. In the refrigerator, I found to my surprise Spēka, the chocolate covered cottage cheese bar in assorted flavors that I had sampled at the Restaurant Show and has been difficult to find in the Big Apple. I bought four in lemon and gave one to Raj to try. The only drawback to this cafe are the hours whereby they close at 6 pm all week.
Cute airplane-themed coffee shop. Gets packed, but they have a lot of seating. I ordered the Nam dam, which was good though I couldn't really taste the cardamom. My boyfriend liked his espresso.
The coffee is fantastic, but it is the setting that truly makes this place unforgettable! Sitting in refurbished airplane seats is such a fun and unique experience that you won't find just anywhere. The vibe inside is amazing--warm, inviting, and full of character. Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee , hot or cold ,hanging out for while at Paper Plain Coffee is definitely worth a visit. Also casual outside seating to.

I've been a few times and every coffee I've had has been excellent...smooth, flavorful, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. I loved the vibes.. they have plenty of options on the drink menu and some pastries. They also have a good amount of seating as well. Spent an afternoon here on a day off to finish a book and not be stuck in my hotel. Absolutely loved the coffee, so much I got two drinks. Highly recommend the Butterbroo! The unique atmosphere was fun, too. Baristas were chatty and friendly. Will absolutely be returning if I'm in the area again!
Amazing coffee and vibes. They were pretty crowded when I popped in on a random weekday at 11, and I can absolutely see why. The decor is charming and thoughtful and the airplane seats are such a fun touch. Drink selection is massive and way above and beyond the classics. The iced mint eastwood was really tasty and so photogenic. Pro-tip is to take the photo before you swirl it up! They also sell merch and you can even buy a jug of coffee to take home, which I probably should have done. Next time!
If you love coffee gotta give this place a try. Tried 3 different ones today. Root beer draft cold brew was delicious, didn't even need milk! The red white and boom had pop rocks in it! Who would've thought really cool drink, and Mel got the mint Eastwood which was delicious as well.
I love trying local cafes and paper plane did not disappoint! I had a matcha with lavender milk and maple syrup it was delicious and gone within five? Ten? Minutes maybe. I also tried the culto di brownie and it was absolutely delicious! I loved how clean the ingredients were. Service was ok. It was our first time there and the person who took my order seemed to be in a rush to take my order. Love the laid back ambience and those seats that resemble a plane?! LOVE it. I hope to be back to get the whole Paper Plane Coffee experience one day despite feeling rushed to order.
They expanded their shop and it was still full of people enjoying some creative & tasty coffees. They do pour overs presented beautifully if you enjoy it there in which case you don't need to use a disposable cup. And if you're lucky enough to have the owner taking your order, she can help you move beyond the usual coffees to some of their especially interesting ones after asking a few pointed questions. Since I was a chocolate lover she recommended the Mayan for me. She also helped our other guest pick the best pour over for her. And the Matcha latte was very rich we could add more filtered hot water on hand to freshen it up. (Appreciate the filtered cold water too.) Even my my latte design lasted till the bottom of the cup; i'll post the midway photo Everything has a feeling of being lovingly and generously made with a women owned touch. It's long past the season to shop local. Get your coffee here!
I finally made it to the Paper Plane Cafe and it was enjoyable....and unique. The cafe has a very cool section, where customers could sit as if they were sitting on a plane. Of course, these seats are always occupied, but if you're patient, you'll have your chance to enjoy it and take your Instagram pics. I ordered a Mocha Latte and it was very good. I enjoy when coffee doesn't need to cool down for an hour and this one was perfect. I also enjoyed the hint of cinnamon, as well. I also spoke to the owner. He mentioned how the cafe will be expanding and showed me the upcoming new area. I look forward to returning and enjoying the new space. If you're a gamer, the cafe also has a Super Nintendo station to help with your relaxation time. I commend the Paper Plane Coffee Co. for their ingenuity with the theme of this cafe and is highly recommended.
This is the cutest cafe with the most amazing airplane-inspired seating concept!! I ordered their hot YuenYueng (oolong tea, cold brew, and sweetened condensed milk). I really tasted every ingredient and was pleasantly surprised with how well they tasted together. I was torn between a few things on their menu though because everything they offer sounds delicious! Service was really quick but friendly. Parking was easy because I went on a Sunday afternoon, but I'd imagine it may be difficult to find street parking here depending on when you go.

I always love coming here! Not only is a coffee great, but the ambience is unbeatable, and the owner is truly the sweetest . Their lattes are delicious and definitely give a try to their special "science" menu if you are into being surprised ! The croissants are not the best I've had in town, it would definitely be nice if they offer some salty items on the menu, but I understand that their focus is coffee. read more
I've heard about this place ever since I used to live in North NJ but never made my way. Was in the area today so had to stop in. The ambiance is awesome and I love the plane concept. Ordered the iced butterbroo which was a little too simple for me. I expected more flavor and a little bit more of the espresso taste. Slightly underwhelmed by the coffee unfortunately and more impressed with the vibe. read more

Been here a couple of time with my Fiancé! I wouldn't say it is the best coffee or tea we have had but the vibes of this shop is everything! Such a cute hangout/place to get some work done! Service was great! And the coffee was pretty good! Would recommend to come by just to check it out! read more

I'll join the other Yelpers to say that Paper Plane has something special going on. Their beans are pretty strong in a good way- I got their half decaf iced Mayan latte and I am feeling the effects hours later! Strong and slightly on the sweeter side but still a great cup. Interior is modern and airplane themed on one side. They have an array of drinks to choose from - teas to pour overs to lattes and the classic drinks. Menu is a great read- they have descriptions of their beans. Service was good, the baristas had friendlier smiles although harried. A steady stream of customers is always a good sign! Street parking, parking garages, credit cards and Apple Pay, cash. read more

coffee is topppp tier. love that its not overly sweet and is balanced in flavors perfectly. so many delicious drink options and the price is great + they don't charge for non dairy milk + ITS AIRPLANE THEMED and so cutie. id definitely recommend the butterbroo latte. outlets at every seat, wifi is fast, and vibes are so vibey in here. service was also so kind, friendly, fast, and accommodating. read more

Came in for an iced matcha latte with almond milk which I was excited for given all the great reviews on this place! However, it was pretty milky and I really couldn't taste the matcha. Seems like they are more known for their coffee than their matcha. Baristas were slow and chit chatting the whole time so waited awhile for the matcha. I will say the decor was super cute and would be a nice spot to work from. read more
I've seen videos of this place on social media so I decided to finally check it out. It has a very cute theme and it simulates the feeling of being at an airport. I got an ice latte and an almond croissant. The ice latte was good and I loved how big my croissant was. The menu also had a lot of cool non caffeinated drinks available which i thought was cool. I came to get some work done since I heard they had free wifi and plenty of wifi. The space is kind of small. It gives me the impression that its more take out rather than dine in. I sat at the area with the faux windows seats and airplane like seats. The seats were comfortable but the table is kind of tiny so you can't have too many items. Plus there are only 6 of those seats and 3 regular tables with regular chairs so once those are taken, there isn't anywhere else to sit so keep that in mind. There is a unisex restroom with really nice decor. They had a painting in there that I loved (see photo). There is only street metered parking so be aware of that. read more

Paper Planes Co in Montclair is sooo good The vibes are everything -- super cute, cozy, and perfect for catching up or getting some work done. The drinks were really good and you can tell they put care into everything. Definitely one of those spots you'll keep going back to. Whenever we are in the Montclair area in the morning time, we always make a point to stop by Paper Plane Coffee. With their changing menus and unique drinks, we are never disappointed with the selection of drinks and being forced to try something new here. The ambiance here is so fun- it's been crowded both times we've been (Sunday mornings) but so worth the wait. Service is friendly and fast which is a huge plus. Will recommend this coffee shop over and over, and they just announced they're opening an even larger location in Maplewood! read more
I know this coffee shop is award winning, but it is always reassuring to taste the coffee for yourself and agree with the hype. I got the milo-spresso and my husband got the Mayan iced. Both were incredible. The interior is so incredible and the playlist was a vibe. It was definitely crowded for a sunny weekend day, as expected, but the staff had our drinks prepped quickly after ordering. Looking forward to returning. read more

Love the concept. It looks like a plane with coffee from all over the world. Service is pretty good. Only thing was that's the place is off the main strip and takes a while to get to (especially if you are walking). There is no parking nearby. Parking actually seems to be a challenge. The pastries look really good (although I am not supposed to eat them due to gluten free diet). No gluten free options. Nice vibe. read more

Ordered: 16oz Iced Mayan Latte (~$6): cocoa, cayenne cinnamon, brown sugar, espresso, and oat milk (+75¢) Aya's take: Off the bat, I can say Paper Plane Coffee has such a fun, unique decor from the airplane seats to the split-flap display to the art. Their menu was a bit confusing to me as they don't have "standard" drinks or syrups but offer many seasonal or monthly drink specials. The Iced Mayan Latte was creamy, lightly spiced from the Mexican chocolate, and the espresso was quite bright. There's a lot of "science" behind their drinks unlike a typical coffee shop which I can appreciate and they roast all of their speciality coffee in-house! It was a good try; I would come back and try their more unique offerings! read more

Hey Will, we do not make bagels here. But, there are a few really good bagel places within walking distance. We are specialty coffee roasters
Are you offering indoor seating at this time?
Unfortunately no. Our space inside is only big enough for our ordering window, market, and production. We are expanding next door to reopen indoor seating though. Should be ready in a few weeks. We currently have seats available outside
Does their outdoor seating have umbrellas?
We do not have umbrellas, but that's mainly because our sidewalk doesn't get direct sunlight for most of the day. It's usually pretty shady and nice
