First time at Juqi - I've seen their location in Manhattan and was always curious about it…read more Although, when looking it up I do remember always thinking "whoa, it's kinda pricey..." Well, I know why now AND I can tell you I would still come again. First - the place is very traditional Chinese style and very spacious inside. We were seated quick and didn't need a reservation or anything as TBH bf and I came to Flushing to get Dim sum...to find out that our dim sum spot is GONE!! (this is another story) Anyways - there's a digital menu so you can browse and also see straight up how much everything would cost. The staff are also very helpful if you need any assistance esp if you don't speak or read Chinese. Anyways - Juqi is known for their peking duck so we ordered the half duck set. Which also with the leftover pieces or bones (or something) they will ask if you want to fry them or make into a soup. We choose fried (well I would preferred the soup but..haha next time), seafood fried rice, soy sauce chicken, Chinese vegetable and beef with green peppers. All the food came out pretty quick! The duck came out and the server showed us how to properly wrap it up to eat. The duck was tender and skin was soo crispy. It wasn't heavy at all. The soy sauce chicken was properly seasoned and it came with a sweet chili sauce and a ginger oil sauce, both was great. But not needed but that's also preference. The beef and green peppers were so well balanced and beef was soo tender and soft, not dry over overcooked at all. The Chinese vegetable was very simple but crispy (not overly cooked) and the portion was bigger than I thought. Lastly and my favorite dish was the seafood fried rice. It doesn't looked seasoned and even plain but the taste is very clean, simple and elegant . Meaning it's fried rice but it's not greasy from the usual. The taste held well over the next 3 days (leftovers) and I can say that it still tasted as good as the day we ordered it. We had leftovers and I was able to enjoy them for lunch on a work day!!! Win! So yeah it might seem pricey for the food but I think it's worth it. It's the quality of the food and it's deff there. They ensure that the food stands out on it's own without having to cover it all up in heavy sauce or seasoning.

It came highly recommended by friends, and it has never disappointed. The mixed soup dumplings are a must, especially the truffle and pork varieties. Everything arrived fresh, and the staff did a great job bringing out the dishes in a steady, well-paced order without making us feel rushed. It's a fantastic spot whether you're looking for a satisfying meal or a classic Asian breakfast with fresh soy milk and fried dough. I highly recommend getting there early since it fills up quickly. If the wait is too long, takeout is a great option, and there is convenient parking nearby.

Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings is one of the best-known spots in Flushing for Shanghainese cuisine, and…read moreit is easy to see why it has become such a destination. We walked into a modern, spacious dining room that felt much larger than it appeared from the outside, making it a comfortable place for both small groups and larger gatherings. The room had a polished, contemporary energy with a layout that accommodated the steady flow of diners, and even though it was consistently busy, the operation ran efficiently and the atmosphere stayed lively without feeling chaotic. The soup dumplings are the clear highlight and are the reason we would recommend coming here. We ordered a few baskets and found the wrappers thin enough to hold a generous amount of rich, flavorful broth without falling apart, and the fillings well seasoned. The classic pork soup dumplings were a must-order, while the pork and crab version was another standout if we were looking for something with a little more richness. Beyond the dumplings, the menu had plenty of other Shanghainese favorites, including beef noodle soup, pan-fried pork buns, scallion pancakes, fried rice, and a variety of appetizers that made it easy to share several dishes. Each plate arrived hot and well assembled, and the consistency across the menu gave us confidence in ordering beyond the signature item. Despite how popular the restaurant is, the wait was well managed. We joined the waitlist digitally before being seated, and tables turned over fairly quickly. Once seated, the food came out at a steady pace, making it a good option even during busy lunch or dinner hours. The staff moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the flow smooth without feeling rushed. Overall, Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings lives up to its reputation. The soup dumplings are some of the best we have had, and the extensive menu makes it worth ordering beyond just the signature dish. If we are visiting Flushing, it is a restaurant that deserves a spot on the list, whether it is a first introduction to xiao long bao or we are already a fan of Shanghainese food.

The restaurant was much larger than it first appeared, and the atmosphere added just as much to the experience as the food itself. The room had a lively, bustling energy with tables spread across multiple sections, and the steady flow of diners reflected its popularity as a destination for a full hot pot meal. The hot pot menu offered a wide variety of broths, meats, seafood, vegetables, and handmade specialties. We appreciated that there were options for both spice lovers and those who prefer something milder, with the signature Chongqing broth delivering the classic numbing mala flavor while the tomato and mushroom broths provided a lighter alternative. The ingredients tasted fresh, and there were plenty of premium cuts of beef, seafood, and specialty items to choose from. The self-serve sauce bar was another highlight, letting us customize our dipping sauce exactly how we liked it, with a wide range of condiments and toppings that allowed for endless combinations. The restaurant gets very busy, especially during dinner and weekends, so planning ahead is important. Reservations are highly recommended because walk-in waits can easily stretch over an hour. Even with the large dining room, the staff did a good job keeping everything organized and regularly checked in throughout the meal. Despite how crowded it could get, service remained attentive and food arrived at a steady pace. The team moved through the room with efficiency, keeping the broth refilled and the table cleared without making the experience feel rushed. Overall, Chongqing Lao Zao delivers much more than a typical hot pot meal. The combination of high-quality ingredients, customizable broths, and one of the most impressive themed dining spaces we have experienced makes it a place we would gladly return to. If you are looking for authentic Chongqing-style hot pot in Flushing, this is one of the strongest options available.

Food: 4.1/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 3/5 Overall: 4/5 We came on a Friday morning around opening time and were lucky enough to not have to wait for a table (though many parties did have to wait). We were seated towards the back of the restaurant where we found a cockroach crawling on the bench seat. Also, the straw decoration on the bench seat was uncomfortable throughout the meal for me particularly. Our waiter, since it was our first time, helped us a lot in choosing the broth and its spice level (we ended up getting tomato and mild chongqing), as well as helping us with the amount of food we would be ordering (which turned out to be almost the perfect amount of food for our party of 6). Some of my favorite dishes that we got were the: - Wide Potato Noodles - Doesn't take that long to cook, SO chewy and nice, pairs well with any broth or sauce - Enoki Mushrooms - My favorite kind of mushroom, even more chew and great noodle substitute - Fried Breadsticks - Very crunchy and don't lose that much crunch whenever dipped or soaked in the broths. - Sliced Beef - Standard and really good meat option for hotpot. Some of their specialty beefs are also interesting, but I ended up just preferring this over those. - Beef Tendon - I lied. This was the best meat option. Extremely soft and melts in your mouth. Doesn't take more than 5 seconds to cook. Just so good. Even with everything that I liked, I didn't find that much that was superior to other hot pot places that I have been to. I did enjoy the food that we did have, but with the insane wait that I would likely have if I came back as well as the high price of the meal, I don't know if this would be worth coming back to in the future.

The environment is clean, and staff was welcoming when I dined here on a Friday evening with other Yelp Elites. The restaurant filled up with people very quickly. I cannot remember having better Northeastern Chinese food anywhere. The food came with an amazing presentation, taste, freshness and quality. I am a huge fan of the Cumin Flounder, which is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It is the best flounder that I have ever tasted in my life! The Beef Tenderloin in Brown Sauce is to die for. I loved the Minted Salted Egg Yolk and Sliced Pumpkin so much that I will come back here to order it for Thanksgiving dinner. If you can handle the spice, go for the Fried Squid Head with Spicy Peppery Sauce. It was the table favorite because most of us prefer the head or tentacles of calamari to the rings. The Molten Sugar-Crusted Yams and Dates were phenomenal. It came with a bowl of water on the side to remove stickiness from the serving spoon between helpings. We also feasted on the Sautéed Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper, Cumin Lamb, Sliced Potatoes with Truffles and Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The pickled salad certainly tickled my fancy. TIP: Eat everything with chopsticks for portion control. Thank you Andie for putting this all together, and the birthday cake that Mike bought for you was a decadent surprise because it was so chocolatey and moist.
