New Wok's has become my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. You order at the counter or call ahead. There are tables inside, but the takeout action is where it's at. They also deliver and, yes, you can get the lunch specials to-go. The lunch specials are almost too good to be true. Available every day of the week from 11 AM to 3:30 PM, there are over 60 entree options, all under $7, with most around $6.50, each served with pork fried rice (+$0.25 for brown rice or +$1 for lo mein) and choice of either soup, soda, or egg roll. (While I wasn't a fan of the brown rice, the lo mein is worth the upcharge.) There are a variety of vegetarian options, though I mostly stick to the chicken dishes. General Tso's chicken and the sesame chicken are delicious, and the hot & spicy chicken also does the trick. There are also extensive choices for pork, beef, and seafood. I've literally grown up eating food from here ever since I was little. My family used to live right by Queens College, so my parents always ordered from Wok Kitchen. They would literally "walk" to "Wok".. haha. Then we moved to Fresh Meadows, when I was only 2 years old. They better not try & revamp the menu, because it's perfection! If it aint broke, don't fix it. The only thing I think they're missing is some good ol' crab rangoons. But is the food warm and stick-to-your-ribs good on a cold day when you're really stressed out and just want to wind down with someone? Yes. Service is curt but quick and they get the job done, and they mind their own business. Unfortunately they stopped the daily $5 specials, which gave you a choice of two entrees every day, rice, and a choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup. It was too good to be true, and they were probably losing money, so they stopped. 3 out of 5 stars for its presence. I know it's not perfect food, but it's delicious when you are knowingly indulging. P.S. I usually get a vegetable and rice dish. I keep it simple. My boyfriend and I tried the orange chicken once- I don't recommend. I agree with Lynne F's review- if you order, their delivery IS sooo fast. I always give a good tip for that. I love living by Queens College so I can make up excuses to get food from here. When it comes to Chinese food, I'll admit that I stick with what I know I like, so I can personally testify for the chicken and broccoli/chicken or shrimp with bean sprouts, fried rice, and ESPECIALLY chicken/veggie Mei Fun (which is almost always what I get). I think they just put up a daily special for $5 each. For the price, you get a shit ton of food. It's incredibly reasonable. The two young cashiers (a male and female) are always very accommodating and will bring your food to you if you are sitting down. I always find it tasty, fresh and good-quality. The portions are a little smaller than regular Chinese takeout places, but the prices here and quality of food are much better than on campus, so I can't complain! FOUND ROACH IN FOOD DO NOT EAT HERE!! Ordered food from this restaurant which I've done regularly, brought it home for my daughter to have lunch and she screamed because she found a roach in the food and immediately started throwing up. I work for a pest control company who the entomologist described it was a female roach carrying eggs in my food. The store used to be next to "Magic Extermination," or whatever store that is called that killed bugs for you.
