    Egg drop soup
    Remy L.

Trying this for the first time. Pretty cheap lunch specials that come with soup/egg-roll and a choice of brown, white or fried rice. Got 4 lunch specials for under $30. The garlic sauce was really good for the shrimp, chicken, and eggplants. The soup was not too salty, which was reassuring, but it was pretty viscous. Overall, would definitely order from here again.

    Tofu gone bad :(

The house special tofu I have ordered today was sour. I've called the restaurant to informed them of the tofu have gone bad. But was given a rude response by the restaurant staff. He told me there no way the tofu have gone bad, but I insist it was sour since I'm the one that eating it. I will not order from them again and will report them to the department of health for hygiene.

After reading the Yelp reviews for this restaurant that raved about everything they make being "fantastic" , it's "my favorite Chinese restaurant", and "egg roll and dumpling are on the point," I had to experience what I was missing. So I drove out of my way to get a taste of "the best Chinese restaurant in the area." The first thing you notice when waking in is the"B" grade hanging in the window from the NYC Department of Health. Not quite as inviting as an "A", but the reviews were fantastic! I ordered a beef and green bean combination (fried rice and egg roll) and some wonton soup. The egg roll tasted like a commercial brand (like Amoy); it had very little other "stuff" in it besides chopped cabbage. It was small, but not greasy. The wonton soup had a murky yellow tinge to it and was absolutely tasteless; salty and non-descript. An oil slick (see photo) formed on the surface that looked disgusting. There we're few pieces of scallion in the broth as well as a few (and I mean few) pieces of pork. The wontons were soft and "doughy" in the center and filled with a few pieces of ground pork (not shredded or chunks.). Some of the wontons were hard in spots. The fried rice was the all-too-common yellow rice with some bean sprouts and a few cubes of pork. The kind of fried rice that is served in most ordinary, uninspiring Chinese take-outs. The beef had been soaked in a corn starch bath to give it the illusion that it is softer than it really is. What your left with in your mouth is the texture of slimy beef. The green beans were OK (which is what saved this review from being terrible.) So many better choices!

No a/c, so workers are sweating all over the food. Nobody is wearing gloves. Workers eat at the counter, bare hands.

Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

The restaurant had a very unique interior that felt very authentic. We ordered the dual flavor pot with mild and tomato broths. They were both delicious, but we especially liked the tomato broth. Be aware that even the mild broth is relatively spicy. We also decided to pay an additional $1.95 each for the self serve dipping sauce station, which we definitely found to be worth it. We ordered napa cabbage, wide potato noodles, potato slices, enoki mushrooms, milky beef, streaky pork, black fish, and beef tongue. We found this to be a lot of food for two people, and the final bill came out to around $110. Our favorite meats were definitely the beef tongue and the milky beef. The milky beef was so tender, and we liked the slight chew of the beef tongue. The black fish and the streaky pork did not stand out as much, and I would want to try something new next time. This was definitely one of the best hot pot experiences I've ever had. You can tell that they put a lot of care into laying out the ingredients, and the staff are very attentive at adding hot water to the broth regularly. It's very spicy with the signature Sichuan peppercorn, so if you're not into numb spicy, considered yourselves warned. We specifically loved the pig trotters. I've never had them like that before anywhere, so it's definitely a chefs special. They were made crispy on the outside but soft and flavorful on the inside. Highly recommend. All the other dishes were also fantastic. Portions are also great, we ended up taking lots home. They gave us free dessert jellies which is also a classic Sichuan dessert; they also had a deal where you get free drinks if you order a certain amount of food, so we got two free drinks. I would have given a five star if not for the super long wait. Granted we did go for Christmas Day dinner. We saw them having to turn away lots of customers. They are super popular. Main issue is there isn't a number system, so getting a table felt a bit random; we considered ourselves lucky. Our servers were very friendly and nice. They told us it would be a bit of a wait, but this was the longest I've ever waited for food: 45 min before the first dish was served. We ordered 5 dishes with rice (forgot to take pictures of two of them). I wasn't told one of the dishes I ordered wasn't available until 30 min after I placed my order. But when the food did come, they all can't together so we didn't have to keep waiting. The servers were also attentive after despite how busy and clearly overwhelmed they were, which was really nice. In conclusion, great food with good portions for spice lovers. Very nice servers and try not to go on Christmas Day since it can get really busy.

I am a huge fan of the Cumin Flounder, which is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It is the best flounder that I have ever tasted in my life! The Beef Tenderloin in Brown Sauce is to die for. I loved the Minted Salted Egg Yolk and Sliced Pumpkin so much that I will come back here to order it for Thanksgiving dinner. If you can handle the spice, go for the Fried Squid Head with Spicy Peppery Sauce. It was the table favorite because most of us prefer the head or tentacles of calamari to the rings. The Molten Sugar-Crusted Yams and Dates were phenomenal. It came with a bowl of water on the side to remove stickiness from the serving spoon between helpings. We also feasted on the Sautéed Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper, Cumin Lamb, Sliced Potatoes with Truffles and Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The pickled salad certainly tickled my fancy. TIP: Eat everything with chopsticks for portion control. Thank you Andie for putting this all together, and the birthday cake that Mike bought for you was a decadent surprise because it was so chocolatey and moist.
