    We've been to Sweet Wonton King a few times for dine-in and take-out, and think that while the staff may have some skill, low turnover seems to compromise the quality of some ingredients. We've recently had: - Shrimp with Walnuts 核桃蝦: $24.95; $27.16 with tax. This was a waste of money. The shrimp seemed to be boiled then then deep-fried, so the shrimp tasted old and hard. Go elsewhere for this dish. - Beef Chow Fun with Brown Sauce 濕炒牛河 (wet stir-fried beef rice noodles): $16.95; $18.45 with tax. Not terrible, but the beef also seemed to have been boiled then stir-fried, as it was a little harder than expected. - Shrimp, Pork and Watercress Dumplings in Pork Bone Broth 骨湯西洋菜餃: $11.95; $13.01 with tax. Very Good, with simple, crisp flavors, a bit on the salty side. - Curry Beef Brisket Lo Mein 咖哩牛腩撈麵: $13.99; $15.23 with tax. Decent flavors, but the dish could have used more beef brisket. There was a lot of inedible hard cartilage in the dish. Service when dining in was very efficient. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at 18%. There is a 3% surcharge for credit card use.

    First meal of the year, and we were not disappointed. The staff is friendly and the food was good. The guy in the front spoke Cantonese, but our waitress spoke Mandarin. It was a lot of pointing at the menu for me, but we were able to get our orders in. I wanted the curry wonton noodles, but they said they ran out of curry. They somehow got their hands on curry when we were almost done with our meal and asked if I wanted it, but I was already stuffed. We ordered a beef chow fun for the kids, and asked for no bean sprouts. The dish came out with a lot of bean sprouts. I think this was probably due to the language barrier. No big deal, just picked it out for the kids because they don't like vegetables. The ramen wonton noodles were bouncy just like I like it. I felt it could be a bit more flavorful but I usually drench in hot chili oil anyway. The rice rolls on their dimsum menu were ok, definitely not silky like the ones you typically get at dimsum restaurants. Overall - 3.8 out of 5. leaning towards 4 stars because of their friendly service.

    Food is 3 stars, but the service is 4 stars ... maybe even 5 because they let us sit at the restaurant for a long time even after we were finished with our meal. Came here about 2 hours before closing, and only three or four other tables were occupied. They all seemed to be return customers, so I had high hopes for Sweet Wonton King. And the friend I was with recommended this place. Pork and squid with peanuts congee - I always get Sampan congee (艇仔粥 tang jai jook) when I want congee. Overall, the texture was good, but the flavor was a little bland. I usually don't add white pepper to my congee, but I felt the need to here, and luckily, it was served with a white pepper shaker on the side. Every place makes sampan congee differently, especially with the toppings added. This place included something that was white (almost translucent) with a soft, spongy texture. I'm not sure what it was, but I wasn't too hot about it. Roast pork noodle soup - My husband got this and was very disappointed in the quality of the meat. The roast pork was old and dark in color. Maybe it's because it was the leftover scraps at the end of the day, but it was definitely not appreciated. My friend ordered soup noodles too and received a lot of fatty pieces with no meat. She said it was better the times she had lunch here. The eatery has a good amount of tables, but the biggest tables can only fit 6 people at once, so it's not ideal for super big parties. Maybe they're able to put together the rectangular tables though.

    Clean and fast place to grab a bite. I love Cantonese food and they have a $10 lunch special for take out or dine in. My dad got the fried fish fillet and tofu/bean curd with rice. I got the curry fish ball noodle soup. Both dishes are pretty yummy. I wish my noodle soup had a bit more veggies. There was only one stalk of "choy"

    Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 7 Overall: 6 Coming back from Europe after two weeks, I wanted Asian food. Learning that one of my favorite restaurants, Sweet Wonton House in Little Neck, expanding to Flushing, it was a no brainer. Ordering some of the usual items to compare, here are what I found to be the differences and how it stacked up against the Little Neck location. Three Type Flavored Dumpling w. Bone Soup - Same quality, no real deviation on their signature item. This makes me very happy. Pan Fried Shrimp & Green Chive Dumpling - The wrapper was not as crispy and slightly chewy. Very small compliant and still excellent. Salted Fish, Chicken & Eggplant Casserole - This came overflowing with tender pieces of eggplant and chicken soaked in flavors from salted fish sauce. I advise you to mix the dish before eating. This is possibly better. HK Style Sausage Pot Rice - Needed a bit more heat to create that crispy rice crust throughout the sides of the casserole. Not as good. Beef Chow Fun - Certainly not as good as the other location. Slightly clumpy and lacked flavor. Beef was not as tender either. Shumai - Similar but the filling is a bit tighter. I prefer the other location again, but not bad. Bean Curd Skin Sheet Roll - Worse dish of the night by far. Never mind that the filling was too carrot heavy, but there was a sourness that should not be there. Sauce was also too thin and didn't coat the sheet rolls properly. Pork w. Preserved Egg Congee - Bland is what comes to mind first, though the consistency of the comgee was perfect. I needed to add salt and pepper. Opposite of the version from other location where it's tastier but sometimes too thin. After my initial visit, I am a bit disappointed. I spoke to the manager who I know from the original location and asked if the main chef came over with him. He didn't want to say, but basically said there is a new head chef here at Main Street location. To me, it's pretty clear that this chef is not the same as the one I'm use to. Hopefully he'll improve with given time to practice. With that said, the saving grace is that their signature dish and the eggplant casserole, which I will return for since it's much closer. When I do, I'll be trying other items to see if I can adapt and just order what is better here than the other location. That also means I will continue to visit my beloved Sweet Wonton House in Little Neck for what they do best.

    I love love love this place! Their porridge is the best! Its thick and fulled with meat and century egg. I also love their rice rolls, its soft and fresh. I also tried their chow fun which was one of the best I've had but I always come back for the porridge and rice rolls. The place is super clean and well decorated. The staff and owner are also super nice and welcoming. P.S They have parking in the back but please BE CAREFUL with the guy giving out your tickets. This has NOTHING to do with the restaurant but the guy in the back gave us a ticket when we came in and PURPOSELY wrote the wrong time and as we were leaving he DEMANDED that we pay because we stayed over 1 hour but in reality we were there for like 30 minutes. Make sure you DOUBLE CHECK the time he writes because we realized too late and it became a whole situation where he refused to check the camera to see what time we ACTUALLY came in and THREATENED to BAN us. I had to go back to the restaurant and ask one of the staff to come out and defend us ( which he did and I'm super thankful for). PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!! Anyways love the restaurant though!

    This was the worst clay pot mushroom chicken rice ever !! The chicken given was dry..rubbery and tasteless!! There was no mushroom as asked for!! Clay pot rice a very famous traditional Chinese rice meal with Ingredients placed on top of a bed of uncooked rice inside a clay bowl and cooked all at once, so all the ingredients flavor seep into the rice made by this restaurant has destroyed the true meaning of a Clay pot rice meal!! Please, stay away from this restaurant!! The restaurant is giving good Chinese food a bad name !! Too bad there's a no star rating !! It's amazing that this restaurant actually sold this dish !!!

    Local neighborhood spot for solid cantonese dishes, congee and quick bites. It's a small restaurant with a few tables but food was delicious. There are several "over rice" lunch options as well. Service was friendly and no frills.

    While getting a car wash across the street, I spied the grand opening of this new Cantonese restaurant that replaced the previous Pho place. It's another Wonton King to join its sister restaurant Golden Wonton King on Northern Blvd. Sweet Wonton King on the southside of Flushing, is smaller and the menu is slightly different, but is a welcome addition. We stopped in for dinner on a weekday evening the first week they are open and it is bustling with people wanting to try out something new. In the front of the dining room is a table for 10, with 2 tables in the back for 8 and several tables for 4. The Clay Pot Rice (Bo Jai Fahn, 煲仔飯) are excellent. You can choose from a variety of protein toppings like Chinese sausage, spare ribs or chicken. We get 2 to share between the 3 of us and a couple of extra dishes. The meat on the spare ribs were not as fresh and springy as expected and I would skip it next time. The sausage was good though, with 2 flavor types, the sweet red and the dark duck liver (鸭肝腸) along with a couple of slices of Chinese bacon (lop yook, 臘肉). The sweet soy sauce is a must to drizzle over the rice and don't forget to scrape the crunchy rice on the sides of the pot. We get a Satay Beef & Vermicelli clay pot casserole as well. I like the enoki mushrooms in it. Ask if they have any fresh vegetables of the day that are not on the regular menu. We order the snow pea pod leaves stir fried in garlic. The leaves are young, crisp & fresh with good flavor and the portion is generous with pea pod leaves so expensive these days. I'm waiting to go back to try out the bone broth wonton and dumplings for lunch and definitely drag more people here for dinner to sample more dishes and more clay pot rice from the menu!

The staff wanted my wife to sit at an angle to the table; so that they could pass through. The seafood itself was solid traditional Cantonese fare with fresh lobster tanks, steamed fish, and classic banquet-style dishes. The atmosphere felt colorful authentic Hong Kong banquet hall energy. However, some of their pricing was completely out of whack. Mother's Day premium for sure which is understandable, but some dishes were simply excessively expensive for what was delivered. For example, our two lobsters, while fresh, were missing that smoky "wok hei" flavor that great Cantonese kitchens are known for. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness one expects from a proper high-heat wok preparation. A few items felt priced more for Guide Michelin luxury dining than a Flushing seafood hall. This said, the service was efficient and professional; changing plates all the time. So a high level of attention above the usual Cantonese restaurant. Overall, decent food in and an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant that targets special family gatherings, but be prepared, both the crowds and the bill can become overwhelming very quickly. I have so many reasons to believe that Emperor is truly the reincarnation of the restaurant...just a little rusty. I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.
