An absolute frenzy from the moment we walked in…read more-- packed dining rooms, large Chinese families everywhere, noise levels through the roof, and servers running at full speed trying to keep up with the chaos. The staff wanted my wife to sit at an angle to the table; so that they could pass through. The seafood itself was solid traditional Cantonese fare with fresh lobster tanks, steamed fish, and classic banquet-style dishes. The atmosphere felt colorful authentic Hong Kong banquet hall energy. However, some of their pricing was completely out of whack. Mother's Day premium for sure which is understandable, but some dishes were simply excessively expensive for what was delivered. For example, our two lobsters, while fresh, were missing that smoky "wok hei" flavor that great Cantonese kitchens are known for. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness one expects from a proper high-heat wok preparation. A few items felt priced more for Guide Michelin luxury dining than a Flushing seafood hall. This said, the service was efficient and professional; changing plates all the time. So a high level of attention above the usual Cantonese restaurant. Overall, decent food in and an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant that targets special family gatherings, but be prepared, both the crowds and the bill can become overwhelming very quickly. I paid more than $400 for three people. But we had a Tiger Fish which is $50 per pound.

I have so many reasons to believe that Emperor is truly the reincarnation of the restaurant...just a little rusty. I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.

Royal Queen is a large Cantonese restaurant in Flushing that focuses on traditional dim sum and…read morebanquet-style dining. We walked into a grand interior with chandeliers, spacious seating, and a more formal atmosphere compared to smaller dim sum spots. The setup feels designed for larger gatherings, family meals, and celebrations rather than a quick casual stop, and the room has a polished, traditional energy that fits the style of the food being served. The dim sum experience is the main highlight. The carts moving through the dining room make it easy to see the dishes before choosing, and there is a wide variety of options ranging from classics like siu mai, har gow, and rice rolls to more unique dishes. The siu mai stood out because of the larger size and generous filling, while the egg tarts had a flaky crust and smooth custard center that made them a solid choice for finishing the meal. The mango sago offered a lighter, refreshing contrast to the richer dim sum items. The food comes out hot, and the cart service adds to the traditional dim sum atmosphere, keeping the meal interactive and engaging as dishes pass by. One thing we appreciated about Royal Queen is the overall variety. It is the type of place where everyone can find something they enjoy because the menu covers steamed items, fried dishes, noodles, meats, and desserts. The portions are also better suited for sharing, so it works well when coming with a group and ordering multiple dishes for the table. The service style is fast-paced and typical of a busy dim sum restaurant. The carts come around frequently, so dishes can arrive quickly once you are seated. Since the restaurant is large and often used for events, the dining room can feel busy and crowded during peak hours. Finding the entrance can also be a little confusing since it is located inside the mall rather than directly from the street. Royal Queen is a solid option for traditional dim sum in Flushing. The combination of the large selection, cart service, and spacious banquet-style setting makes it a good choice for group meals or anyone looking for a classic dim sum experience. It may not be the most intimate restaurant, but it delivers the full dim sum atmosphere with plenty of choices.

We decided to try last minute, we have a group of 30ppl, takes about 3-4 big tables They took our reservation last minute. Our family ordered a lot. The only one we kinda disappointed was their steam range chicken, the inside still kinda pinkish raw. The manager said it's how they cook it. He was willing to change a new chicken dish for us. We didn't even know if he ended charge us for it. Overall is ok. Portion is huge.

Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

However, it does have some nice looking decor, very grandiose. Some might call it gaudy. To each his/her own. Also, always able to get a reservation, not needing to go into downtown Flushing traffic, and having a large parking lot are major advantages. Honestly, these are the reasons that sets Crown One apart from most of the other Cantonese restaurants. As mentioned, the food here is solid, but it does have some ups and downs. Some of the better dishes I had include Sautéed Conch w/ Fried Milk, Boneless Chicken w/ Ham & Chinese Broccoli, Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari, Preserved Meat & Cauliflower, and Beef Pan Fried Noodle. The dim sum overall is decent and priced reasonably. I have been here for dim sum, small meals, as well as large banquets. I have never left here wow'ed by the food, but also never left unsatisfied. Due to its advantages, it will always stay in my mind as a good backup when I need a place last minute.
