Seafood with pan fried noodles

Great meal. The beef rocks! The seafood & noodles was also very good. The service is attentive without being obsequious. The dining room is sufficiently spacious, not cramped. It is a tad noisy, but not objectionably so ...

We've had 2 group dinners at Chef Wong's Bistro so far and both meals have been excellent! Cantonese seafood dishes are their specialty and you're guaranteed to get some of the freshest ingredients possible, especially if you choose the live seafood from the fish tanks. They keep a stock of North Atlantic Lobsters, Dungeness and Alaskan King Crabs, as well as assorted fish like sea bass and grouper. Sometimes they'll even have mantis shrimp and Asian spotted prawns. At a previous dinner, we had for cousins visiting from California, we had a great banquet meal and for our latest dinner, we entertained friends visiting from Vancouver and the Philippines. We will take any excuse to have a big dinner! The restaurant set meals are good deals with a variety of appetizers, soups, beef, seafood & chicken dishes at different price points. You can even swap dishes from the regular menu to your liking if you have different tastes. There is also a Chef's Specialty menu that you can choose from. This last dinner was a winner. We only had 6 people, but we had an excellent meal starting with the Mixed Appetizer Platter, West Lake Beef soup, a whole Peking Duck and a Pan Fried Flounder. There is a current deal for an Alaskan King Crab for a flat $218, which I reserved the day before. The server brought the live crab out in a tub for pictures and then it was off to the kitchen to be served in 3 dishes. He said it was a 5 lb crab but looked way bigger. I estimate it was at least 8 lb. I had specified the crab legs to be served steamed with garlic & vermicelli, the body parts stir fried with ginger & scallion and the entrails from the carapace were used to flavor the Golden Fried Rice. The best part were the meaty legs, but the body parts were just as sweet. If you get a chance at a King Crab, do it! Being here at the northern end of downtown Flushing, it's easier to drive here and street parking is not hard to get around dinner time, which is free after 7pm, Mon-Sat and all day Sunday. Paid metered parking is usually for 2 hrs from 9am-7pm on the north side and 9am-10pm on the south side.

Food was mediocre at best and only one lady waitress was friendly while the others didn't care to serve and help us while we had our end of Chinese new year dinner. The unfriendly servers tried to rush us to leave, they kept hawking over us, consolidated our dishes together to "make more room" when we didn't even need it. Parking also sucks around here. One and done. So many other places to go with better parking.

This beef was incredibly good

Gotta love seeing the cantonese restaurants pop up. Happy to see this one on Northern Boulevard. We didn't bother with the parking lot which I'm told is comped for this restaurant. We found parking on the street on a weekend. Service is friendly, efficient and quick. We got a standard banquet style meal with customary 8-9 dishes. Ended with watermelon and dessert soup. The one dish I didn't like was the fried rice as it seemed the rice wasn't fully cooked. I had it as leftovers, added more water, and voila! It was pretty good with softer rice. They had a private room which is great for a large group - be sure to book in advance if you want that room. Otherwise, the restaurant is on the smaller side but good amount of tables.

Salt & Pepper lobster Special $15.95

Great place for family style meal and gathering, most tables are big round table, apart from lunch specials I think this place is better to enjoy with big group so you can order more dishes and fresh seafood. They have big fish tanks at the dining room you can see live seafood available for purchase. Their famous king crab is $40/lbs which isn't a bad deal when you have a big group. The lobster special is daily, but you need or order at least one dish from menu in order to order one lobster, two main for two special price lobster etc. two flavors are free of charge are ginger scallion and salt & pepper. Lobster is big and juicy. I had a lamb and beancurd skin casserole, the lamb is skin on the bone in, more like lamb legs, the dish was a bit bland I didn't even finish, pack it home to cook more. I had a mix BBQ with crispy pork belly and duck, it was not great, pork is very dry and there's only a quarter duck and four of five pieces are just skin and fat, for over $20 that's really not a good portion and quality. The service was good, our waiters are attentive, refill water when it's empty and change our plates when they are full of shells.

Great Cantonese food. We will be back with our family & friends. Our new favor restaurant in Flushing

Today the special was chicken for $1 and folks where can you get that?! We went back for their delicious Ginger Scallion Lobster that Chef Wong executes to perfection! Their Steamed Fish with Ginger & Scallion (薑葱蒸魚) is delicious. They take the fish directly from the fish tank and prepare it a la minute with scallion and your traditional soy sauce. This is always a center piece for. Cantonese seafood feast at around $75. This dish boasts a delicate and simple flavor that's simply just right. Part of why it's a Cantonese classic is because it's a nutritious, refreshing dish that's super easy on the stomach. Service was super friendly and dedicated as my mother in law comes here often. The ambiance is relatively relaxed but with a nice setting and a functional aquarium. They have King Crabs, fresh lobsters and multiple fishes. So for a unique Chinese Seafood experience, Chef Wong reigns supreme!!!

Love this place! Must go back and try the King Crab. Everything I had was great. Amazing deal for lobster!

It was first night meeting up with family in nyc. server was helpful, while we wanted to try roast pigeon, they were out as it was kind of late. dishes were prepared to cantonese style, pretty authentic good portions, decent price.

Came here for Mother's Day dinner with family and cousins. This restaurant used to be in Chinatown now it in Flushing. It can hold big groups. As we put our order eleven dishes as the waiter wrote down. Somehow as the food was being served it came out the way the waiter wrote down, usually the mains would come out in the middle but it came out towards the last few dishes. Lot's of dishes lack of seasoning and small portions. They have free parking when you spend a certain amount that covers one car only if you double that amount get another free car parking.

Steamed Eel

This is a good restaurant for big group dinner. They have many different live seafood dishes with very reasonable prices. We had the Alaskan Crab cooked in 3 different ways. They also had various specials posted on the walls such as half a chicken dish for $1 if spending over $100. We were seated in a room. The dishes all tasted good and service was good.

This is best Cantonese restaurant for dinner so far. Many restaurants shrinks the portions or quality drop due to inflation. This restaurant still provides large portions, and every taste excellent. I'd give 5 stars if the eel can taste even. So we check the fish tank afterwards the eel were half stuck in the tank, half of its body moving alot and the other half got stuck didn't move. Our family taste the different texture, first half is perfect and second half little mushy. Overall the flavor of steam eel is excellent. Just make sure you go check the eel you want and pick them. We will do it next time The rest of food are perfect to taste, nothing too salty everything has it's own flavor. Owner & servers are so nice. You'll get free bowl of red bean soup as dessert, also a fruit platter (although I found mold in a small batch of grapes) so 4 stars gor the first try. We are looking forward to come back for second meal and already reserved the table for our next visit.

For dim sum, the carts are out and about with freshly steamed dishes. The cart ladies are so efficient. They will show you what they have and then push additional dishes on you to try. They are also motherly, urging you in Chinese to eat the food while the food is hot and not let it sit. They are sharp eyed, looking for diners who express interest in the dishes in their carts. It is a crowded, noisy, and wonderful place. You eat, look for dishes that catch your eye, and then eat some more. You also get to watch all the other diners enjoying food with their family and friends. For dinner, it was always done family style. We usually order lobster and shrimp dishes, as it is a seafood restaurant. However, all their other dishes are really good, so it is hard to say what is a favorite dish. Anyway, I encourage my friends to come here. I highly recommend Asian Jewels for the terrific food, great staff, and atmosphere.

Some might call it gaudy. To each his/her own. Also, always able to get a reservation, not needing to go into downtown Flushing traffic, and having a large parking lot are major advantages. Honestly, these are the reasons that sets Crown One apart from most of the other Cantonese restaurants. As mentioned, the food here is solid, but it does have some ups and downs. Some of the better dishes I had include Sautéed Conch w/ Fried Milk, Boneless Chicken w/ Ham & Chinese Broccoli, Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari, Preserved Meat & Cauliflower, and Beef Pan Fried Noodle. The dim sum overall is decent and priced reasonably. I have been here for dim sum, small meals, as well as large banquets. I have never left here wow'ed by the food, but also never left unsatisfied. Curry Fish Fillet Over Rice ($10.25) - This was also on the salty side, but it pairs nicely with the mountain of rice. Lemon Tea ($4.25) - Solid HK Lemon Tea with a good combination of sugar and lemon. This location looks more modern but still keeps the essence of how chachatangs are like in Hong Kong. Overall, I think the portion sizes are good for the price and if you can't finish, I would definitely take leftovers home and add rice or extra noodles to make use of the sauces! I ordered the Wonton, Dumpling, & Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($14.75) under the "Popular Items" section of the menu since it seemed sampler-esque. The waiter then proceeded to bend down close to my face (too close for comfort) and asked me in Chinese if I can finish the food or not. His mandarin is a bit hard to understand so I was a bit perplexed if I misheard the question and asked him again then he turned to leave and literally waved me off with his arms (ok..?) I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.
