We came here for a big take-out meal. This place is a little bit different than the other restaurants we have ordered in the past. This is a restaurant that specializes in the Northeast part of China dishes. Food tastes pretty authentic to me and the price is reasonable. We ordered about 7 or 8 dishes for the 6 of us. We had dumplings, eggplants, some beef, and string beans. I am not an eggplant fan, but I actually like this dish. The dumplings were great. The beef was nice and tender. But my favorite dish was the string beans. Yes, you head me right. I loved this vegetable dish. Overall I'd say we enjoyed our meal.

I am big on hygiene and cleanliness. And this is a place where those things do NOT exist, unfortunately. My son didn't even want to wash his hands as the toilet was dirty and sink was filthy. But we stayed and gave it a try as this place was recommended by a friend. So the service was very fast. And the food was ok. Dumplings was good. But again I would go back to the start point- hygiene!!! I couldn't believe my eye how they clean after people. So people finished eating, left and then waiters or busboys came to clean . Omg!!! They came with 2 big ugly buckets with food scrap, and they stated dropping everything from the plates into those bucket. It was disgusting. It made me nauseous. I am not coming back there . No way.

Yummy food! It has that cozy family restaurant sort of vibe. Staff were attentive. Will be going back.

Bonus if you can speak Mandarin, cause it seems like that's all they spoke/understood. We did a large takeout order, and with my broken mando, I was able to convey what I wanted, and they were able to take my order in a prompt manner. Portions are pretty big, and prices are decent. The food was actually surprisingly decent. It wasn't overly spicy and has just the right amount of heat. We ordered a variety of dishes from apps to entrees. Apps: - Jelly Fish with Vinegar - this was refreshing, with the right amount of tanginess from the vinegar, and the perfect crunch from the jelly fish head. - Steamed Pork and Cabbage Dumplings - not too bad, the sauce was good too. - Sliced Potato, Eggplants & Peppers - this was supringsly good too. I never had sliced potatos and eggplants mix. Entrees: - Shredded Pork with Hot Garlic sauce - decent, not too spicy. - Fried Squid - this was yummy - Whole Prawn with Salt and Papper - Mapo Tofu - this was very smoky flavor, not the flavors I was expecting. Each of the entrees came with rice.

This restaurant specializes in Northeast Chinese cuisine, and the dishes we ordered all hit the spot for my family, who are all from that area of China. The chefs are both from that region as well, according to our server, and we can taste it in the authenticity of these dishes. The prices are pretty standard for restaurants in Flushing but the portions are fairly decent. I particularly removed the squid dish, and the fried pork as well. Even the fried fish and the dried tofu, which I don't usually love, were really good. The staff were accommodating to our tight schedule and helpful for recommending these excellent dishes. Because it is a very authentic place, be warned that there may be groups of loud Chinese aunties and uncles at adjacent tables and haggling over the bill. It's part of the charm, though.

I would like to highly recommend this traditional northeast of china style restaurant to everyone who have never tried it before. The cost performance is very high if you are a pure food lover and a big appetite. The service is super nice and friendly. Everyone was so productive and you don't need to wait for a long time to have a plate. For the food, I love every courses in this restaurant, especially the deep fried small yellow croaker and stir fried pickled cabbage with glass noodles. By the way, the free relish ia also very tasty and yummy. Sour and sweet pork in a traditional way cook is a little bit too sweet for me. If you wanna try it, I will recommend the way cooking with ketchup. In addition, if you have niver tried frozen pork skin, you must try it in this restaurant! The garlic soybean sauce is so good and the pork skin is very fresh! In addition, the ambiance is very cozy and will make every Chinese feel back home. If you are not Chinese, you must have a try and you will love it!

Great restaurant for big parties. Food comes in big family style portions. The lamb chops are a must get, super crispy, and well seasoned. The waitress was very attentive and refilled our pot of tea regularly.

My mom suggested Golden Palace as she has dined here before. The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived there which is always a good sign. Luckily there was a table for the three of us. I am so impressive that the menu included pictures with the descriptions of each dishes. The service was really good and the boss lady came by our table to ask how we enjoyed the food...I told her YUMMY! Food: Tofu with sauteed carrots and onions with a light sauce, Cumins Lamb (my dish), something dried tea shoots which uses the crystals in the pot to heat up...I totally forgot the name, and pigs feet Wow I absolutely love the Cumins Lamb and the spices were just perfect but my dad can't take the heat so he picked around the lamb without the amounts of red hot peppers. Jeez, it reminds that I am back in Shanghai! Very homey type of restaurant. Definitely you need to swing by =P

This is the second time I'm back here. They have really goood dong bei food. The taste is authentic; sweet sour pickled flavor. The free cold marinated potato appetizer is outstanding. My favorite things here are the cumin lamb, pork kidney, and pork intestine. Service is a bit lacking, you really need to flag down the wait staff or else they'll never come back to your table

I can't give Golden Palace anything less than 5 stars. This northern-Chinese restaurant really delivered in authentic dishes, generous portions, great tastes, and friendly staff. Golden Palace is tucked away in a very residential area, but it is worth the walk. One of my friends is from northern China, so he was helpful in choosing dishes for us. We got the sour cabbage (with beef), yellow fish, fried eggplant, and pork dumplings. (See my photo!) Our food filed the table! The fried eggplant was probably our favorite; the texture was so unique, and the tastes were great. (Be careful of the hot peppers!) The sour cabbage was also very new to me. The sourness is modest, and I couldn't stop eating it. The fish was also very good. One order included two fish in a brown sauce. Again, the taste was different than what you'd get at a "traditional American Chinese" restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and all smiles. At the end, we got a complimentary red bean/sticky rice dessert. I'm not usually a red bean fan, but the dish was great! Go for a pitcher of beer. It'll cool your mouth off a bit. Using your credit card adds a small but modest fee, so in the future I'll bring my cash. I can't wait to come back!

Today I was told there is no lunch special. They messed my order and missed one item. Is amazing how different an experience can be in a 3 week span. Not really satisfied

Any place you can take your pregnant wife to that makes her happy gets an automatic 5 stars. Food is authentic North East Chinese(Dong Bei 东北菜) As a vegetarian, the dry pot potatoes (not on menu, but on menu board near kitchen) were pretty good (I ordered w/o meat). The green bean jelly noodle (mung bean) was very nice with a strong hint of mustard with a nice sesame sauce. She feasted on the braised pig shoulder- portion enough for three people. We ended up taking half the food home as left overs If you are looking for white glove service, this place ain't it. If you are hungry and want real Chinese food, come here.

This is a review for delivery order. These dishes were not authentic or delicious. The fried pork in scoop was horrible. The pork slice was very thin and it was mostly corn scratch. I could barely find pork. The griddle cooked tea tree mushroom was not dry enough. The seasoning was also a little bit weird. Overall disappointing.

The service was amazing, very attentive, and everything was clean. The food was pretty good, but there were some dishes I liked more than others. Ordering the boiled chicken slices as an app was the wrong move. It tasted okay, as good as it sounds, but I don't think it was the best app option. The pork belly in mashed garlic was good, but I wish the cucumbers had been more chilled and fresh. I liked Uluh's version of this dish more. Next time I would try the boiled chicken in chili sauce or the crispy fish. The flavor and texture of the braised pork belly were amazing. The pork was tender and fatty. The prawns were fantastic and very garlicky, just how we like it! The rice was pretty good and actually had a decent amount of seafood, but I found the shrimp to be the same quality you would get from a takeout Chinese restaurant. The rice was also on the more steamed side, less on the dry side. All in all, I thought the food was decent, but the service was amazing and the vibes were also a plus.

We were seated promptly, since there was no one else waiting to be seated, and the wait staff was quick to arrive and get our items into the sacks (to keep our stuff from smelling like hot pot all day), and helped us place our order. We got two broths-- mushroom and spicy (mild heat). Y'all, the mild was too hot for us and we were scooping out the peppers out of the broth to make it manageable. The wait staff noticed we were suffering and said the trick to eating spicy hot pot is to dip it in oil, and even brought us some. IT WORKS. Anyway, 10/10. Great tasting food, helpful and caring staff, and overall, a very fun decor/vibe.

The inside is beautifully decorated and they have multiple floors with tables and seats. Being a party of 7, we got a private corner room on the top floor which was really nice. We got half spicy and half non-spicy broth, and even at mild it was quite spicy. Our server had to help us take out a lot of the chili peppers floating inside. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies and fishballs, all of which were great. I liked the flavor of the spicy broth a lot, and the quality of all the meats and veggies tasted good. Anyone with a nut allergy beware of the chili in the sauce bar and for some of the meats, as I couldn't have those. For dessert, we got the fried brown sugar rice cakes which I thought was lowkey the best thing - it was so perfectly warm and chewy with just the right amount of brown sugar syrup. Definitely recommend this!

I was at this Szechuan restaurant earlier in the evening with six others (thanks again, Andie),…read morewhere we sampled a good amount of their dishes. As mentioned, it's a pretty tiny space with one large table that fits 8 comfortably, though probably 9 could fit if needed. Otherwise, there were some smaller seating arrangements. The service was friendly and efficient when it came to taking out dishes and our ordering process. For the table, they gave us some lukewarm water, which was refilled frequently when required. They asked about the spice level, and our host went with medium, which worked, with some of us clarifying that "mala" is fine. In terms of flavors, most dishes had a nice numbing sensation from peppercorns and had plenty of heat, but not so much that it overpowered any one dish. The prices overall might be slightly higher than some other places, but they make up for it with their portion sizes and also by including rice with all entrees. Our only appetizer was the $11 Smashed Szechuan Cucumbers. The cucumbers were sliced into slightly large pieces, and there was a nice sauce that had both heat and a mild black vinegar flavor. I found the ginger a bit light, but overall, it was refreshing and tasty and worked well with some other dishes, which arrived soon afterward. My favorite of the main entrees was the Spicy Shrimp for $32, which was in a giant pot with a good 14 or so large shrimp inside, if not more. Along with the shrimp, there were also potatoes, peppers, scallions, onions, and lotus root slices. The dish reminded me a lot of Mala Xiang Guo/麻辣香鍋/Spicy Dry Pot, which is one of my favorite Szechuan dishes. The shrimp inside were prepared perfectly, while the potatoes were soft and the lotus root had a good crunch. I would recommend this highly. The other most expensive dish was the $40 Xu Chu Braised Chicken, which also arrived in a giant pot. The chicken could be ordered braised or fried, and we got the former. The meat was on the bone, as expected, and tender, with the pieces in a very red broth. This was tasty, with the sour pickled pepper adding a nice extra flavor, along with the typical mala from the non-pickled peppers and peppercorns. A more typical dish, though not in a typical presentation, was the tasty Cumin Beef, which was $30. In comparison to most other spots, the beef was cut into larger slices. Usually, I haven't liked this before, as the larger pieces of beef weren't tender, but that was not the case here. Otherwise, there was a mix of vegetables, including the standard onions along with large pieces of pepper, both green and red. If I had to make a complaint, I wish the onions were also sliced thinner, as they lacked a bit of cumin compared to the meat. Another more typical dish was the $20 Szechuan Bacon, which was their version of Hui Guo Rou/回鍋肉, or Double/Twice Cooked Pork Belly. The pork belly was tender with only a mild chew, and the scallions added a nice refreshing flavor. The heat was there, but I found the douchi/black bean flavor a bit light. I didn't mind this, though, as it made it a bit less salty than usual, and there was plenty of flavor otherwise. The last of the more unique dishes was the Crispy Pork Ribs for $24. The ribs were lightly fried and tender, but some others found them a tad salty. As with other dishes, this came with the usual mix of peppers and vegetables. Finally, the last typical dish was the $13 Mapo Tofu. The portion was a bit smaller than other spots, but that makes sense, as this was the cheapest of all the mains. There was some sourness and a bit of heat, with my only complaint being that I prefer a slightly firmer tofu in this dish for texture, but that's a regional quip. Outside my personal tofu preferences, the flavor was good. They gave us some Bingfen/Sichuan Ice Jelly/冰粉 as a complimentary dessert at the end, which was a nice touch. The ice jelly had a mild sweetness from the brown sugar syrup, and it was refreshing. The toppings included the typical hawthorn/haw flakes on top for sourness, golden raisins for sweetness, and peanuts for crunch. The dessert made a fine ending to our excellent meal. Overall, we had a very good meal here, and I look forward to going back. I wouldn't mind trying their pig trotters, or especially their fish, among other things. I can see why they're popular.

There was a constant flow of patrons the entire time we were there. Customer service and hospitality were great; very professional, friendly and efficient. Our shared menu: (We ordered everything "regular spicy", which, for me, was medium spicy but very spicy for others): ~ Smashed Szechuan Cucumbers ($11): fantastic! This is a cold, spicy appetizer. Crisp, flavorful and refreshingly delicious. ~ Xu Chu Braised Chicken ($40): this is a huge pot of chicken; the chicken can be ordered braised or fried. We ordered the braised, and it was delicious. Recommended! ~ Szechuan Bacon ($20): usually called Double Cooked Pork Belly in other restaurants. This was very good. It included lots of hot peppers and vegs. ~ Crispy Pork Ribs ($24): The fried pieces of pork ribs were perfection; albeit slightly greasy (it is fried, after all). This dish also included lots of hot pepper and vegs. ~ Mapo Tofu ($13): this was probably the most standard dish of the bunch. But still very good! ~ Cumin Beef ($30): most of the time, when I order this dish in other restaurants, it just includes the protein. This version had cumin Beef along with lots of hot peppers and vegs. Very good but the pieces of been were small pieces. ~ Spicy Shrimp ($32): this was a very generous portion of large shrimps (shell & head on). This huge pot was full of shrimp, hot peppers, potatoes, lotus root, and other spices. Recommended! ~ Rice (complimentary with each entree). ** They served everyone a complimentary refreshingly cool jelly dessert with Hawthorn flakes on top. This was the perfect way to end our spicy Szechuan dinner! The cool jellys cooled off your szechuan numbed mouth and the hawthorn flakes help with digestion. This was such a well thought out dessert! Kudos and thank you! As I mentioned before, they have a huge menu. I'm looking forward to a return visit to explore their other dishes! Recommended!!

I am a huge fan of the Cumin Flounder, which is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It is the best flounder that I have ever tasted in my life! The Beef Tenderloin in Brown Sauce is to die for. I loved the Minted Salted Egg Yolk and Sliced Pumpkin so much that I will come back here to order it for Thanksgiving dinner. If you can handle the spice, go for the Fried Squid Head with Spicy Peppery Sauce. It was the table favorite because most of us prefer the head or tentacles of calamari to the rings. The Molten Sugar-Crusted Yams and Dates were phenomenal. It came with a bowl of water on the side to remove stickiness from the serving spoon between helpings. We also feasted on the Sautéed Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper, Cumin Lamb, Sliced Potatoes with Truffles and Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The pickled salad certainly tickled my fancy. TIP: Eat everything with chopsticks for portion control. Thank you Andie for putting this all together, and the birthday cake that Mike bought for you was a decadent surprise because it was so chocolatey and moist.
