Delicious Sichuan food! The food was not too spicy as well, although you can probably ask for spicier. The waiter warned us that the stir fried green peppers were spicy and I was expecting the worse, but the spice level wasn't too bad. Pretty tasty dish even though I don't usually like peppers. Actually all the dishes that we had were great! Especially the boiled fish in chili oil and lamb with onions.

I was here with a bunch of others who were looking for a spicy kick and this place did not disappoint. A Chinese woman who has been here plenty of times ordered the following 8 dishes and it was a plentiful amount of food for the price (I believe around 20 bucks or so.) Before I begin, special thanks to Google Lens for the direct translations from their online menu. As with other places with a lot of dishes, I'll be splitting it by preference: Excellent: Dry Mixed Beef/干拌牛肉/Ganban Niurou. This was outstanding. Very nice texture to the dried meat with a lot of flavor and kick. It was finished very quickly at the table Beef With Bean Curd Sauce/豆花 牛肉片/Douhua Niurou Pian. I've had this dish the more traditional style with fish which we didn't order as we were already getting another fish dish but I preferred it with beef. The beef had a wonderful flavor from the bean curd. Would also highly recommend. Very good: Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Chili Sauce/水煮鱼/Shui Zhu Yu. Also very tasty. Fish was very tender but not as spicy as some people thought it would be. Smokey wok tossed green peppers//虎皮尖椒/Hu Pi Jian Jiao. This was the surprise hit of the table. The name of the dish translates to tiger skin peppers from the texture of them being smoked. There was a bit of Russian roulette as some of them had the head with all the seeds but some of them were not spicy. I'm usually not that big a fan of regular peppers but this was good. Sautéed pea shoots/豆苗/Doumio. Nicely flavored and a good little extra dish to go with the rest. Not too much oil also. Good Sautéed String Beans With Minced Pork/干煸四季豆/Gan Bian Si Ju Dou. This was good but it was hard to take the pork. The string beans had a good texture though. Stir Fried Lamb With Cumin/孜然羊肉/Zi Ran Yang Rou. Unfortunately the cumin was a bit too light. Alright lamb. Double Cooked Pork With Chili Leeks/回鍋肉/Hui Guo Rou. Tasty but as per the previous dish, I preferred the version from the restaurant a few doors down as the pork had better texture there and it was less chewy. The person who had been here said that this was the one dish that wasn't as good as last time she was there along with the lamb. There was also free cabbage like other tables as a palate cleanser in-between all the spice though we didn't get as big a portion as a smaller table nearby but it wasn't really an issue. Overall the food was very tasty. Not many complaints especially with the three or four best dishes. The cumin lamb and the double pork were the odd disappointments in a sea of very good dishes but overall it was reasonable and very tasty and I can see why she liked the place prior. Mid 4.

Hot Kitchen remains one of my most favorite Szechuan restaurants. Ditto to everything I wrote in my previous reviews. I've been coming to this restaurant for quite a number of years, and they have been consistently great. Hospitality and service has always been welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The only slight drawback is that not all of the staff speaks English; however, there is usually at least one person there at most times, who does. Seek them out if you don't speak Mandarin. Love this place. I usually go with a big crowd and they are always terrific. Highly recommended! Note:. If you are not Asian, best to emphasize how spicy you'd prefer your food. If you want really HOT, make sure to let them know.

The lunch specials were rather meh, so won't be ordering that again. The spicy fish was not bad. The eggs and tomatoes and the potatoes with beef were both bad. The pea shoots was on point but the Chong Ching fried chicken was good but not the best I have tasted. It lacked numbing peppers. Overall, I had way better.

Ordered food to go for the first time. I would have given 5 stars, but.... POSITIVES -Authentic and flavorful Sichuan flavors -Prepared quickly and everything was still hot after getting home. NEGATIVES -Sautéed Omasum (beef tripe) was very hard and chewy. Not tender enough. -The YangZhou Fried Rice contained only 3 small shrimp...really??? -Portion sizes could be more generous considering the prices. Not cheap; that's for sure. All considered, the food was actually quite delicious, so will surely stop by again :-).

Came here a 2nd time and ordered: Wonton in chili oil: really good and decent sized (I prefer this here than at Szechuan House next door but both are good) Dan dan noodles: ok, I think Szechuan House does it slightly better due to the garlic they add Beef tendon: was given a good amount of beef tendon and has a more peppercorn taste; not as soft or thinly sliced as S.H., but the flavors are different and depending on what you like, it could go either way - I'm a fan of both! This one is definitely not as garlicky All in all, Hot Kitchen is still a great restaurant to eat at. I like to compare dishes to see what I would get at each one.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with family. It was a raining and cold day so the spicy dishes really hit the spot. The food is authentic and it seems like the customers are the mainly Chinese. The decor is basic and clean. The service was ok though at the time I went, it was only 3 tables with customers. We got the double cooked pork belly, a veg. and tofu soup, the spicy fish, and some cold cuts. The dishes were simple and tasted fine. I didn't have a out of this world culinary experience (like the first time I had duck confit in France) but if your expectation is a nice and inexpensive family meal, then this is the spot.

Hot Kitchen is located on Roosevelt Avenue where Little Pepper Hot Pot was situated....above where Little Pepper used to be down stairs. This place is the bomb! Clean, hospitable(family operated) with a vast menu. After trying literally all the various ethniticities of Chinese cuisine in Flushing we found this place to be the best. For Appys we had: *Sliced Pork Belly in chili Garlic Sauce- perfect consistancy of pork belly with outstanding hot red chili sauce. Mmmmm ! * Sichuan Wontron with Red Hot Chili Oil - Tender Wonton in super red hot sauce. So good we dipped other items in it for heat. On to the mains: * Chef's Mapo Tofu - Best we ever had...Tofu just firm enough to pik up with sticks and the sauce was hot with meat which added consistancy and taste. Was super for lunch the next day.,..hot and tasty * Chongqing Spicy Chicken - Outstanding....hot crisp morsals of chicken mixed in with a copious quantity of red chili peppers...loved that dish! * Double cooked Pork Belly with Chili Leeks- Taste was spot on and Leeks were tender and tasty. All this plus a soda and Tsing Tao Beer for a whopping $41 total!! Woo Hoo...good as it gets...albeit its CASH ONLY..but for these prices you cant go wrong. This is our new go to place for food that is not only Mala but tasty......

Double Cooked Pork Belly - so good! I don't usually like this dish because it usually has a gamey flavor, but this one didn't. Chong Qing Spicy Chicken - chicken is the crispy kind. The 2nd time I had it, it was maybe too crispy for me, but still tasty. Beef w/ Bean Curd Sauce - just as good the 2nd time around. Spicy Chili Beef - sweet, like beef jerky. The 2nd time, I was already over the novelty of it. Hot Pepper Veggie with Beef - this beef dish with less sauce tastes pretty good to me, though it's not spicy (which was why some people didn't like it). Shredded Beef with Fresh Hot Pepper: This other beef dish with a lot of sauce, practically a soup, was not to my liking, but other people liked it. Hot Spicy Beef Tripe Tongue - I don't like tripe, but the sauce in this dish is great. Sauteed Bitter Melon w/black bean sauce - not as bitter as it usually is, so it was good for me. Sliced Fish w/ Hot Chili Sauce. Tea Smoked Duck - not to my liking, but other people liked it. Sauteed Pea Sprouts - really bland.

This place is underrated for sure. The food is pretty authentic with reasonable price. My friend had a good experience here for a family gathering, so she recommended to me as well. For her second visit & my first visit, we ordered some classic Sichuan dishes and were impressed by everything. Will come back to try other dishes :D

Some standouts were the twice cooked pork, the dry fried long beans, and the fish soup. The twice cooked pork had very thinly sliced pork and it was rich and well seasoned with chili bean paste. The long beans were wrinkly and deep fried with savory ground pork mixed in. The fish sound had abundant tender pieces of fish and a creamy mild broth. I convinced my dining companions to try the braised kidney flowers, as 火爆腰花 is one of my favorite sichuan dishes and I was interested to try this braised version. While most of my friends were not particularly into the kidney, I really enjoyed this dish. The hatched kidneys were floating in a rich broth with peppers and bundles of glass noodles. The noodles were unexpected, but a very welcome addition as they allowed me to consume more of the delicious braising liquid. The kidneys were tender and bouncy, exactly I as expected them to be. I didn't place the order so I'm not sure if you can select the spiciness level of your food when ordering, but I didn't find any of this food to be particularly spicy and I found the tingly mala notes to be muted. While everything was very delicious, aside from the sweet and sour pork which I found to be inedibly sweet, I think this is a more tame and toned down expression of bold Sichuan flavors. The service was extremely friendly and I would return again for another group dinner, as they have enough options here to satisfy a wide variety of diners with different palettes. Hopefully next time I can sell my companions on the 夫妻肺片,as I've heard they make a great iteration of the dish here at Mountain House and I would love to try it.

I've dined here with my family twice and in the most recent occasion, we came with no reservations around 2:30pm on a Sunday. All the tables were taken as they just opened at noon so we had to wait a bit. Their menu / iPad ordering system was simple to navigate and quick to place. Our table was started off with their spicy pickled cabbage, which was super addicting. I love how the spicy oil was so flavorful and the cabbage was soft and just slightly tangy. We ordered 5 dishes for our party of 5: the la-zi chicken, stir fried cabbage, grilled beef ribs, beef and mushroom bibimbap and mao xue wang. My favorites were the la-zi chicken as the diced chicken was super crispy and flavorful. The spice level and numbingness was just the right amount. Next comes the beef and mushroom bibimbap, which is mixed and served at the table. The flavors were more soy based and was very balanced. The stir fried cabbage was cooked well but the pork in the dish was extremely salty. The grilled beef ribs came with steamed baos, similar to peking duck. I enjoyed the experience and presentation but the dish was a bit boring. Toppings included a spicy hot sauce, cucumbers and scallions along with the sliced beef that was individually torched at the table. Lastly the mao xue wang is a traditional stew featuring offals and blood curds. This one had duck blood, tripe, and intestines. I was extremely disappointed by this dish as I was expecting some tofu and small pork intestines but it didn't have either. The tripe and intestines were very crunchy, wherwas the duck blood was silky and soft. The flavor was very basic mala stew and had a ton of red chili peppers. Overall I had a decent meal at Mountain house but can't help but wonder if I ordered the right things since not everything was as good as I hoped. I will mostly likely return to give their other menu items a try.

They uniquely have a self-rotating lazy susan which can be controlled remotely which was an interesting touch. Along with the usual peanuts, they provided us some free picked radish which was very tasty with us getting extra. The first dish that arrived was the Crispy Cucumber Salad for $15. The flavors were standard with a mild sweetness from the dark soy sauce with the more interesting part being the shape as they almost resembled flowers. I slightly preferred this over the usual as it added a more fun texture and I found it absorbed the sauce a bit better. For the same price, the Mapo Tofu was very tasty. While having a good numbing flavor from the peppercorn, It's a bit spicier next door at Szechuan Mountain. However, the texture of the tofu was better here being a good mix of firm and silken. This version was also fully vegetarian I believe as commonly, there's a tiny bit of pork on top. This presumably was why it was a bit cheaper as well compared to next door. My favorite of the dishes, which was a favorite of the whole table was the Stir Fried Bacon With Tea Tree Mushrooms for $22. The mushrooms had a fun crunchy texture while the bacon was more Hunan style with plenty of smokiness. This was delicious and a definite highlight. Also tasty was the Spicy Stir-Fried Pork Kidney for $20. The kidneys were cut into thin manageable pieces and the offal flavor was milder than other kidney dishes I have had being less gamey and a bit less minerally. There was a slight chew to the kidneys but it wasn't too much and the bit of veggies added some crunch. The Eel With Fermented Rice Sauce for $20 as well had mixed opinions but a few people such as myself liked it. The portion was large and I liked that the eel texture here more than in other spots where the eel is fried. The light fermented flavor was also nice which also added a unique red hue. However, the dish was quite boney so I liked some pieces a lot and found some others to be OK. I would still recommend it. The Chongqing Spicy Chicken for $20 was pretty standard. I wish it was a lighter fry but the chicken was pretty moist even with the amount of batter and it had a good mala flavor. The peppers were also nicely cooked down in the wok and plenty edible. The Dry Pot With Asian Mushrooms for $22 was pretty good. As with others, I preferred the other mushroom dish much more as the flavors were lighter. The textures weren't as fun here, but at least the presentation was nice. Larger was the alright Cumin Lamb for $25. This was pretty tasty, in terms of cumin, but I find other spots are better in terms of spice, such as next door as well as Xing Shun Da among others. The pieces were also smaller here and I liked the texture of the larger pieces at other places. This was fine, but I would recommend other places for this dish instead. The largest dish was their take on Golden Sour Sliced Beef Soup for $32. A few others loved this, but I found it to be OK. The dish in general has a good mix of sourness and spiciness, but this version was a bit too sour and not spicy enough for my liking. I appreciated the other toppings from the plentiful enoki to the noodle bundles, and the beef was good, so if the spice is improved, I would recommend it more. At the end, the staff gave us a complimentary dessert consisting of Black Sesame Mochi Balls in a Rice Wine Soup, a variant of Tang Yuan. The rice balls inside were hot and packed with black sesame, and were very tasty. The broth was excellent here with just enough rice wine for flavor, while not being overpowering. This was a particularly tasty version of this dish, and I was very happy it was included. The food here overall was solid. I prefer a handful of other places, but for the reasonable prices and good overall quality, I would recommend this place. Low 4.

Heavy on the breading too Golden Sour Sliced Beef Soup: lots of fatty beef in those one and some noodles, but the taste wasn't really what I was expecting. Not the biggest fan of this one

Everyone gets a bowl of rice, and they have a gift card deal - buy $300 and get $50 free. Plus free meal on your birthday, and some discounts on Tuesdays or Wednesdays? Check the signs. Seats filled up quickly on a weekend and they were packed - come early and enjoy. The double serving for two was smaller than a single serving for one, so just get two if you have two good sized appetites. Single unisex bathroom, and the tables have drawers with paper napkins. Drinks - eh, pass, had better elsewhere. They did forget a dish, but that's ok, we were reasonably full.

I mentioned to her that a couple places in Flushing sell crawfish Chinese style and she wanted to try. Did a search on Yelp and saw someone recently raved about the crawfish here. Every order of crawfish comes in 2lbs and we ordered the spiced flavored one. This crawfish gets an A++. Little one loved the flavors and freshness. So tasty. Not only that, but these were probably the biggest crawfish we've ever seen! Even the claws had meat! We also loved how they chopped off the top of the head to removed the "filter". We also ordered a couple small dishes to try. For cold apps we ordered the pigs ear and okra. We love the crunchy texture of the pigs ear and the more we ate it, the more addicting it got to eat. Okra was also a bit. For the skewers, we ordered the lamb beef and intestine. Honestly the lamb and beef skewers were probably the worst ones we've ever tried. It was a struggle to finish them. The meat was tasteless, hard and overcooked. No fat ratio at all. The pig intestines were perfectly cooked. Love when it's crispy. We love finding a place that's been around that's actually a huge hit for us. We will be back. If you spend $120, they will gift you a huge carafe of passion fruit tea.

Customer service was excellent from start to finish. We felt genuinely welcomed, and the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. The menu has a great variety, so there's always something new to try. We had such a great time dining here--definitely a place I'd keep coming back to.

It wasn't too sour, and the broth had a nice strong garlic flavor that was a welcome addition to the sourness. The fish was flaky and tender, and I liked the noodles in the dish too. I would definitely come back to try the tomato version! Although I do wish it automatically came with rice instead of charging $2 per bowl.
