We were on our road trip from Fort Worth to the Hill country for the weekend. Interstellar has been…read moreon my bucket list but I always saw the long lines on this day. It was pouring down rain so I hoped that it would be a better line situation at 11 AM on a Friday. It was still a 40 minute wait but much better than two hours. Inside it's not a huge dining room, but I did notice people would get up pretty quickly after finishing. This place smells like amazing barbecue inside even. Make sure you bring your pocketbook because it's not cheap but you have to pay for the quality. I didn't even know that they had a Michelin star too, which says a lot for barbecue. We got a little bit of everything and I'll give you just the highlight. The beans are without a doubt the best beans I've ever had in my life. The macaroni and cheese was out of this world good. My wife had the rib and she loved it. The brisket was absolutely some of the best I've ever had in my life. And I've been eating barbecue in Texas for over 30 years. We will definitely be back but will try to hit an off time so I don't have to wait so long in that line.

We arrived 10 minutes to open (10:50AM) on a Saturday morning. Plenty of parking still available…read morethen. Stepped in line and the line manager told us it would probably be around 2hr45m wait based on where we were in the queue. Some people left the line in front of us and we got to order after 2hr20m from open for a total wait time of 2hr30m. The line manager was great since he informed us of wait times, what food they had on the menu, and what items were at risk of being sold out if you were further back in line. If you're further back in line, usually sliced brisket is the first thing to go but they have alternates (chopped brisket, burnt ends). While waiting, you can help yourself to water and their restroom. He also shared some tips for a shorter wait time. They are closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday are their less busy days. Weekends are variable, but this past Friday was actually worse than Saturday. To avoid the normal line, you can order a to-go order. This requires ordering at least 3 days in advance and ordering at least 4 lbs of meat. The food: Peach Tea Glazed Pork Belly - absolutely the thing to try here. It's delicious and very unique due to the meat and the sauce. Definitely can taste the peach tea in the glaze. Poblano Creamed Corn - a little sweet and you can taste the poblano in here. This was the best side I had on our trip Brisket - I like that if you get two slices, they alternate between a leaner cut and a fattier one. Fantastic. Pork Rib - the best pork rib we had on this trip - tender, no dry parts Duck - I liked the flavor on this, but found it to be on the salty side and a little stringy For two of us, we ordered 2 pieces of pork belly, 2 slices of brisket, 1 pork rib, 1 duck leg, a small creamed corn. It came with pickles, pickled onions, and white bread. We ate all of it and were satisfied. Hard to say, but I'm assuming we are medium eaters and I probably could have worked in a little more food if I wanted to gorge myself. They had three sauces - a red, traditional that was slightly sweet and tangy; a yellow, mustard based sauce; and a spicy vinegar. They were all tasty, but my personal preference was to use the red on the pork rib and the yellow on the brisket which helped cut into the fattiness. There's a lot to love about Interstellar BBQ. The unique styles of meat and sauces. The attention they give to the sides (some other places just phone those in). The customer service, being transparent about what information they have, how courteous they are knowing that they are popular and the wait is long. Things that looked good that I would want to try next time with a larger group. Beef bone with Chimichurri - looked delicious. Scalloped Potatoes - many other reviewers have talked this one up. Is anything worth waiting two and a half hours for? For me, very few things would make this cut. I don't have any regrets about this trip since the food was great and pretty unique. However, next time, I think I'd only risk the line on an off day or try to figure out how to work through a 4 lb to-go meat order.

My husband never eats mac and cheese and I'll be darned if he didn't finish my Trashy Mac and Cheese for me that evening! Finally! Some mac and cheese that is actually delicious and creamy. The toppings of brisket, bbq sauce, french onions and jalapenos all stirred together makes each bite a little slice of heaven. WOW! The next morning he said, "I kept telling myself I need to leave a little bit more for Lee Lee but I kept opening it back up and eating more until it was all gone!" Good thing I had my bites right when we arrived at our hotel because I was so hungry. My husband ordered sliced brisket and we lucked out and got a few of the brisket burnt ends. They weren't all "candified" like a lot of the other bbq places serve; but they were smoky and delicious. I also enjoyed the potato salad. We were excited to order the smoked mushrooms but honestly, they could have used a bit more flavor for me. You could just tap the salt shaker and it would have been fine. I appreciated the creative side dish and love how the bbq scene has doubled down on the side hustle! It was cold out so we sat on the enclosed patio that had heaters and were very comfortable. We order a couple of beers and waited for our food. The service was friendly. This was a nice dining experience.

Lazy G BBQ Company in Cedar Park is exactly what it sounds like: lazy. For a BBQ joint in Texas,…read morewhere the standard is high, this place is embarrassingly bad. Rudy's BBQ should be the baseline, yet Lazy G doesn't even reach that. I ordered the ribs and brisket, hoping for something decent, but both were far below average. The brisket was especially disappointing--you could see the congealed fat right in the slices (see pictures). Serving meat at the right temperature is BBQ 101, and their failure here made the texture and flavor a cold, greasy mess. The sides weren't any better. The cucumber salad was bland, with just a dusting of dill and no seasoning whatsoever. Adding salt and vinegar should be a no-brainer, but apparently, even the basics were too much effort here. I was excited to try the smoked mushroom side (as a mushroom lover), but it was downright unpleasant. There was zero smokiness, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down BBQ sauce, giving the button mushrooms a soggy, unappetizing texture. The BBQ sauce was another letdown--it tasted like bottled Sweet Baby Ray's. For a BBQ place, using (or at least mimicking) store-bought sauce is the ultimate red flag that they just don't care. Even at $22 for a two-meat plate, the quality doesn't justify the price. In short, Lazy G BBQ Company doesn't just fall short--it doesn't even try. If their goal was to live up to their name, they succeeded; this food is lazy, uninspired, and, frankly, not worth your time or money.

Today, I finally got an opportunity to taste this highly rated BBQ. People...the hype is real!!! We purchased a turkey leg, sausage, brisket (what they're known for) and chicken. We also got two sides of potato salad and dirty rice. I am not a big fan of brisket. However, the owner allowed me to have a sample of the brisket. I fell quickly, madly in love with the brisket. The brisket is so flavorful, tender and moist. So, so good!!! Next, I tried the turkey leg. The meat literally fell off the bone. Yummy to the Nth degree!!! Now, let me talk about this sausage...I have never eaten sausage this good. The sausage was (yes was...we ate it all!) dense, yet moist and super tasty. This sausage did not have a spec of grease. I think I ate most of the sausage. The chicken was also super moist and tender...made you want to slap yourself. The sides were good, however, the standouts without a doubt were the meats. The owner/chef was very personable, and highlighted the preparations associated with his menu items. He created a welcoming and chill environment... I highly recommend trying Bigg Belly BBQ...you will certainly enjoy your dining experience. Pro tip: Sunday and Monday Bigg Belly BBQ is closed. Also, the number listed on the Yelp website is for their catering business. I submitted corrections to Yelp today.
