Nina pulled all the options for me ahead of time and was able to read my vibe very quickly, and the 5th overall dress I tried on sincerely floored me!! I became obsessed. I went around to a few other places and kept trying to get the same vibe, and I never felt it. I ended up going back today to get that exact dress, and I'm so so so glad I said YESSSS at Lotus! Her price for altering my dress were half of what I was quoted in Manhattan and the alterations were turned around in a two weeks. Two other things I appreciated about Natalia were: 1) She made suggestions about how to alter my dress, but wasn't pushy at all and let me come to my own decision on train alteration. 2) She is extremely detail oriented. The top of my dress was a bit baggy. Instead of the easier alteration of adding darts, she instead did the more challenging alteration of taking in the bust in via the arm holes, which maintained the clean lines of my dress. UPDATE: Today, the day of my daughters prom, we realized that the hook that aligns with the bustle was missing. Frantically I left a message for Yvonne and she got back to me immediately. With her calm demeanor, she told me to come right in with the dress and she would make the alteration on the spot. It took under 15 minutes and the dress is now perfect. I was looking for a qipao but I was equally impressed by her gowns styles. These are simple but so beautifully crafted, designed and fitting to a woman body in combination with the most delicate silk fabrics in different colors that I just can't imagine you will be disappointed. Kimera's experience is extremely personal and dedicated to your needs and wishes. She's got ideas, talent, excellent suggestions and planing ahead. I love how respectful towards what you want she is, tho she will suggest improvements accordingly. After all,this is all about you girl. You should not let anybody to shape what you wish. For my dress we had 5 sessions from design and fitting until it was ready to pick up. I also wanted an special fabric after she showed me some samples. Such a beautiful glowing silk fabric with a delicate cherry blossoms pattern. I loved it and she was able to get it for me. Susan quoted me over $1200 for this adjustment, and when I said this was more expensive than my dress cost, I received the most unprofessional and rude response and was quite taken aback. "Yes, we pay humans who live and eat and pay rent in the United States, which is very different from the people who made your dress so it is usual that for dresses under $1000 alterations cost more than the dress. Good luck with your hunt." They don't know where I got my dress from, and I'm also someone living in NYC and doing my best. I think people are allowed to charge what they want or think their skill is worth, but I also think the wedding industry has lost their minds. I found an independent professional who did a beautiful job and charged a fair price. I have other dresses to be adjusted until my big day, and had considered saving them if I needed help for my main dress which will be more expensive, but based on this rude and entitled response, I already know to never go back to this business again.

That said, the overall experience felt much less personal than some of the other bridal salons I visited in New York City. It felt a bit like a factory of brides, with a giant room where many brides are trying on dresses at the same time. The mirrors were also surprisingly small and free-standing, and I felt very close up to them, which made it hard to really see myself clearly in the dresses. I also would have liked to step off the podium more to see how the dresses looked naturally, but my stylist seemed to prefer that I stay on it (and of course dresses tend to look better when you're elevated on a podium). The selection is definitely a major strength, and I understand why Kleinfeld is so well known. However, there are other bridal salons in New York City that feel much more personalized, spacious, non-judgmental, and relaxed. I also noticed that some of the stylists standing around elsewhere came across as judgmental, which took away from the overall atmosphere a bit. Overall, I'm still giving 5 stars because of the dress variety and the iconic experience, but I would say brides should go in knowing that it may feel less intimate and personalized than other boutiques in the city. I went on a weekday to avoid paying for the experience. I'd recommend others do the same, as I don't think the fee is worth it. My stylist also was the least knowledgable about dresses compared to other salons.

The cups that were sewn in were two sizes too small, causing my bust to bulge out of the dress. The underwire cut into my chest, pushing one breast to the right and the other upward. With every fitting, the situation got worse rather than better -- leaving me in tears with my wedding only a week away. I ultimately had to take the dress to another seamstress just to salvage it. To make matters worse, after three fittings, they had not even completed a hem. Wedding Atelier charged $1,300 for alterations -- payment required at the time of purchase -- and refused to refund a single dollar despite the damage they caused. The owner, Carrie, was completely unsympathetic and unwilling to take any accountability for what happened. She is unethical,. If you want to protect yourself from unnecessary heartache and stress in the lead-up to your wedding day, I strongly urge you to take your business elsewhere.

I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for the genius and talent of the tailors in this place! I've been working with Rita and Humberto on two of my wedding weekend looks. They are professional and extremely knowledgeable and skilled at what they do! Yesterday I left with the biggest smile on my face, and yes, little teary eyes (happy tears tho!), after I picked up my suit and (blazer and pants) and the pants for the rehearsal dinner. Wow. Where do I even begin with Alteration Specialists-- and the new love of my life, Myrna, in particular?! I came in frantically at opening time for a same day service desperately to seek help for a terribly botched hem job done by another tailor for my sister's wedding the next day. Myrna welcomed me with open arms and did me a HUGE favor by promising she could get it done, even in the busiest time of year for them. To top it all off, the facilities are super nice and Myrna makes it fun and light-hearted along the way. My dress was fixed within mere hours on the same day. I will be singing Myrna's praises from the mountaintops and I'll certainly only ever be bringing my clothes to Alteration Specialists from now on!! These looks were pulled together from precious, one of a kind vintage pieces sourced and styled by Alexandra at Le Grand Strip. When the time came to get everything fitted - Alts was the only place to trust! The Alt studio in Williamsburg is glamorous and fun to be at. I had an amazing experience getting my bridesmaid dress altered at Alts! The Williamsburg studio was pristine, welcoming, and the receptionists were so friendly from the moment I walked in. Lee Ann was absolutely phenomenal to work with. My dress needed both a hem alteration and bodice alterations, and she made the entire process seamless. Myrna works miracles. My wedding dress had a complicated design and bodice. The bodice just did not fit properly (too small in certain areas and too loose in others). Myrna took some material from the lining and shortened the train to put inserts into the bodice and tightened the bodice to fit my shape. My designer dress looked better after Myrna was finished with it. I had no anxiety throughout the process. I would recommend Alteration Specialists and specifically Myrna. I took in 5 suits last week which were turned around super quickly, and to a very, very high quality. went back for a second fitting, but every one of them was perfect first time around. very grateful for the high quality service and at speed too. these off the rack suits were miraculously turned into tailor made versions (from a fit perspective) within a few days. amazing investment and Yaser was really awesome, skilled and charming. great job! read more

Humberto is so great! He fixed the all of the straps on the gown for me. It was originally my moms and I needed to get it taken in. It was done within a week rather than the full two weeks! He also noticed the price was a little high for the work and gave me a very reasonable price. I then brought in the mini dress a week later because the first two buttons fell off the first time I wore it. I am happy to share that I had my wedding dress altered here in at least four different places (the…read morelength and width of the skirt, the back area, and the arms I believe were all taken in). Mine only involved one fitting/consultation and one pick up appointment because my dress was non-traditional and very small, almost like a cocktail dress. That being said, I really appreciated the opportunity to save on the cost of the additional appointment and the woman even tried to talk me out of one of one of the adjustments that she thought I didn't need (to be specific it was the back of the dress near the opening on top). I did it anyway and in total it came out to $226.63. I appreciated the timeliness of the appointments (for the most part) and the easy booking process. The turnaround time for the alteration itself was about 30 days which was just right for me. The shop was pretty busy and it's quite small, but there is seating outside on a small bench and it's in a cute enough area of Williamsburg where you can kick back. Luciana reassured me that everything would get done in time, and continuously provided me with such wonderful service every time I went in. My main dress just needed a simple hem, but my second dress needed to be taken in multiple sizes and was a lace corset. They pulled off a miracle and everything was done perfectly with a week to spare. I found the pricing to be reasonable, even with the rush fee. I am so happy I ended up going to Tailoress!

He told me it would be $125 and that honestly it's fine and I shouldn't do anything to it unless I really wanted it. I left having nothing done to it and wasn't charged anything! I needed three Indian wedding tops adjusted, and trekked all the way here from Astoria at the…read morerecommendation of a friend. Two of the tops needed to be let out, and one needed to be taken in. All of these tops came with additional material on the inside, so I thought this was going to be less expensive than what it ended up being. Store wise, it's a fairly small shop, with just a curtain to step into and put around yourself while trying things on. My tailor worked quickly to pin the tops where necessary. They were done in about a week, and 2/3 were perfect when I came back in to try them on. One of them had broken clasps at the top (that were busted before I brought them in, though I hadn't realized) and the tailor who was there quickly stitched on some new clasps to fix it. I paid $120 for all three, which I think would've been less if had I taken my chances in Jackson Heights. I'd trust these people with high stakes tailoring like a bridesmaids dress.
