Their service makes it very easy to book and edit appointments. I was able to find one towards the end of the day and they're one of the few alterations locations that will take on suede and leather so I was very excited. The timing was great and they did a wonderful job with my leather piece. They're still fixing a pair of pants for me because the first iteration was just a bit off, but I'm sure they'll do an incredible job. Everything looks beautiful. I brought 4 pants in to have them hemmed. When I came back to pick everything up they had it ready and when I got home I realized they had forgotten to hem 2 of the pants. I brought them back and they were very apologetic. The girl at the front desk couldn't have been nicer. I finally got all of my pants back hemmed, only to find out 2 pairs were uneven at the bottom. Like a good half inch longer on one leg than the other. Very expensive for low quality sadly. read more

I had a great experience with Cristina, who altered my wedding dress. She is super friendly, and I could tell she cared a lot about making sure I was happy with all the details of the dress. She had great suggestions for how to improve the fit and I was so happy with the result! As a heads up, it did end up being more expensive than the prices listed on their website for bridal (which I believe are just starting points), but I think it was worth it for the quality of the alterations. TLDR -- brought suit pants/jacket and dress shirt in to get simple alterations to achieve a desired look (I provided pictures) and left feeling pretty underwhelmed for the price I paid. -------- What happened -------- I recently bought a slim-fitting wool suit from Suit Supply that fit pretty well off the rack but needed further alterations. The pants already came with a leg taper but I wanted to see if anything more could be done. I brought the garments to Alts and provided pictures of what I wanted -- a tailored suit that was slightly relaxed with a no-break pant hem (something pretty common with current trends). My tailor (an older gentleman whose first language was not English) just seemed to miss what I wanted and when I would make suggestions, I got the vibe that he got a little annoyed. During our session, he suggested that my pants were too baggy and tapered the right leg using pins. I felt that it was too tight and didn't follow the aesthetic from the photos. He disagreed and didn't offer any alternatives. I asked if he could hem the left leg using pins so I could compare how it looked next to the right (given that the pants already had a default leg taper), which confused him but he managed to do. I liked the left leg better after previewing it with the hem, which led him to suggest that I wouldn't need any taper. There was no offer to meet me halfway and no attempt to show me that maybe a lighter taper than his previous pinup could look better. He just seemed eager to get out of there. The moment that truly led me to believe that this service was mid was -- after the pants debacle, he said our session was done and started to walk away, not noticing the billowing dress shirt I'm wearing that I brought to get tailored. I told him I needed the shirt tailored too and he awkwardly asked if it really needed to be tailored. If the dude at Brooks Brothers even said it should get tailored, then yes bro, it needs tailoring lol -------- Final thoughts -------- I can't speak for all the tailors at Alts (I'm sure most are very good) and maybe this is an isolated incident. But for a tailoring chain charging premium prices and touting to be New York's most genius tailors, I was hoping for a bit more attention to detail and customer service, especially for such simple alterations. Just something to be aware of -- I was charged 40% to 70% higher for each alteration from the base prices listed on their website. I didn't ask why, but maybe I should have given there was no explanation. I might update this review once I get the finished product. But for now, I can suggest that my fellow men-with-suits can get the same (if not, better) service elsewhere for less money. read more

Great place. Cristina did the most amazing job with my garments - especially a treasured trench coat which needed to be re-lined with special detail to the lining fabric. Their team went above and beyond, including studio coordinator Brendan who personally went to the garment district to source the lining / get the perfect color, texture and weight so the trench moves beautifully. I also appreciate the level of design, professionalism and cleanliness that they put into the space itself. Multiple fitting rooms, nice waiting area, water, mints and magazines. I've gone to a handful of scrappier tailors around different parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan - they're all old school which is great in its own way. But def pretty messy / dusty with nowhere to sit and barely a curtain to change behind. It's a nice bonus to feel so comfortable on top of the amazing work. read more

I came in to have a bridesmaid dress altered and David worked with me to make sure it was the perfect shape. I knew it was going to be a complicated job going in but David was patient and worked with me to get it done! Since the brand the bride chose was designed for straight body types and I have a curvy shape we had our work cut out for us! I bought the dress a size up to fit around my thighs and booty, but this meant the top half was too long and too big. Came here last year to get a couple of pairs of denim taken in at the waist and hemmed -- it's a very nice space with several changing areas, friendly front desk staff, and the tailor who helped me did a great job on the alterations. I asked to keep original hems and the work they did was invisible. It's pretty busy so if you need a fast turnaround, check one of the other locations that might have more bandwidth on their schedule. read more
