While I didn't find my dress here (went for something less contemporary), this boutique has the sleekest, hippest dresses I'd seen, and that was after going to 11 (!) bridal shops! Jana is also so warm and helpful, picking out a variety of dresses for you and you never feel rushed. Here you'll find a mix of bohemian, modern, more casual, two-pieces, beaded with colors and more. Three days before I had to fly out for my wedding, I had a very unfortunate incident with my original wedding dress, and needed to find a new dress in 72 hours. As you can imagine, I was in a state of pure panic, and called several bridal shops to see if they sold dresses off the rack. Veka Bridal answered immediately and suggested I come to the store.  Within minutes of arriving at the store, I found the most stunning dress that they not only had in my size, but that had never been on display or worn. The seamstress was on-site that day, and was able to shorten the dress overnight. The next evening, I picked up my dress, in what I can only call an absolute miracle.  The ladies at Veka Bridal were incredibly caring, calm, and compassionate, understanding the stress I was experiencing. Their dedication to helping me find the perfect dress was really heartwarming. Ksenia and her team went above and beyond to ensure I found a dress, and had the final dress in time for my wedding. I truly cannot thank them enough, and will never forget them. They are such an important part of my wedding story. It is not easy to be so calm when there is a very nervous bride-to-be in such a dire situation, but I felt so safe and taken care of in their presence. My dress ended up being an absolute hit at my wedding, and after my wedding, my husband and I stopped by the store to say thank you in person. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Planning a last minute international wedding with just a little over 1 month lead time, I felt pretty defeatist about finding *a* dress, let alone *the* dress... until I walked into Veka Bridal. It's incredibly difficult to find any dress in that timeframe, nevermind your dream dress-- especially when your bridal style is on the more unconventional side. Jana and Ksenia from start to finish were absolute heroes!! Knowing my tight timeframe and so quickly gaining a deep understanding of my style and preferences (I swear they're mind-readers and knew me even better than myself), they were so accommodating and eager to help me out in such a bind. Most other bridal boutiques basically told me flat out no or that it would be unlikely for me to find something in that timeframe. When I found the perfect dress at my first appointment, Jana and Ksenia immediately went into problem solving mode and made it work even with three fittings over the course of 2.5 weeks!! (Zuly, their seamstress, is also incredible at what she does!) Both my mom and sister came to Veka with me and wholeheartedly agree that this shop has the most interesting, unique dresses out there (especially in a market that is so beyond oversaturated with more or less the same old styles). The curation at Veka strikes such a rare and delicate balance of unconventional and unique, yet still timeless and sophisticated. If you're looking for a dress that isn't the typical cookie cutter mold, come here. And even if you're looking for a more conventional dress, come here-- you might surprise yourself! But it's not just the curation at Veka that makes it so special, it's also the heart and soul that Jana and Ksenia put into every last touch. These two make you feel so welcome from the time you walk in, and their expertise is unparalleled. Jana and Ksenia have such true talent and a keen eye for helping you find the right dress. i've been meaning to write this review for a while. A friend recommended Veka and I went with my mom. The dresses they have are very beautiful and UNIQUE. Really truly exquisite dresses that I didn't see anywhere else. I spoke with Ksenia in pretty vague terms of what I was looking for and she brought me a few dresses to try on. One of them was the one I ended up buying and wearing on my wedding day. I really felt like a princess, and it was the dress that in my mind I had imagined but didn't know really existed. It was flattering to my body type, very elegant and classic, and I could eat, drink, and dance in it. I went for multiple fittings with Ksenia and the seamstress, who did skilled work. I really hated wedding dress shopping. Usually I could only find one or two dresses that I liked in any given shop (I was looking for light, simple, pretty, not too fussy, and NO rhinestones). Nicole Miller was up my alley, but her dresses were paper thin and didn't have enough structure in their bodices, so they weren't very flattering on me. Veka, however, was perfect. If I had seen any one of her dresses in any other salon, I would have seized upon it immediately as the perfect dress. There were some really quirky designs, some lovely, classic A-lines, and several in the middle--not too strange, but generally unlike anything you would find in most other bridal boutiques. She carries Adele Wechsler, whom I had never heard of but who has gorgeous designs. Her silk/hemp blend looks like linen and chiffon had a beautiful baby. Jana was great--soft-spoken, understanding, frank but diplomatic, low to no pressure. The boutique was also a really pleasant environment--small, simple, quiet, with wooden floors and full of sunlight (which just so happens to be terribly flattering). It's also convenient--just off the A/C lines for Manhattanites, and off the G for Brooklyn/Queens residents. Since then I've been back for two out of my three fittings. It fit pretty well the first fitting, considering I had ordered it in February, but the adjustments that the seamstress has made since make it look even better. Love this place. Would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. read more

I had also been to a number of the top salons in Manhattan and none rivaled Veka for service. Ksenia and Jana, sisters and owners, have amazing taste and understand what looks best on a woman. Their gowns are unique and high quality, and while not inexpensive, they are certainly very reasonably priced for the exquisite fabrics. Their seamstress is very professional and has a very keen eye. When I was uncomfortable about my gown being just a *bit too low-cut, she and the sisters immediately rectified the issue by contacting the dress designer and finding a solution together. The customer service was bad. From the minute I walked in the door I was not taken seriously. Rather than saying something like "this fabric will be smooth once the dress is made to your measurements" she repeatedly said something more like "you are really stretching out this fabric, you're too big for this dress." I made the apppointment for 1pm and in her confirmation the day before she said 2, I did not catch the inconsistency until that afternoon and got there at 1:20 and I apologized although that is just as much her fault and she was super rude about it. When it comes to the dresses themselves, I could see how these could be just what some people are looking for but probably not for me. The one real contender from this shop is about $3200 before alterations and the quality is far below what I have seen for just a bit more money. read more

I contacted VeKa bridal inquiring about a specific Rembo Styling dress that I couldn't find at any bridal studio where I lived locally. I came to veka bridal with my sister in hopes of finding her wedding dress. As soon as we walked in, we were asked to take off our shoes. An odd request but it was wet outside with we complied. The appiontment before us was running late so we had to wait a few minutes. The salon did give us a heads up in advance that they were behind schedule which was appreciated. Unfortunately there was no place for us to sit while we waited. The salon is on the smaller end but had a decent selection. The woman who was helping us was fairly rude and was dismissive to my sisters requests. About 30minutes into our hour appointment the next appointment came in, 30minutes early. She and her party were not asked to take their shoes off, making the area around our shoes now wet for us to walk through in our socks. As soon as she arrived, the woman helping us was quick to rush us out. It was disappointing but ultimately we found a beautiful dress later in the day. read more

While trying on wedding dresses, I visited a number of boutiques and larger stores in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Generally, I found the experience lack luster, as most dresses in my price point looked very similar and I was completely confused as to how to pick on over another. My experience with VeKa was entirely different. Ksenia, one of the two store owners, helped me at my appointment. She provided several styles for me to try on, each one different from the rest, each embodying a totally different look for a different type of bride. She suggested that I try on one dress in particular that I never would have selected for myself, but that ended up being my perfect dress. I wasn't sure about the dress in my first fitting. Ksenia encouraged me to take time to think and perhaps schedule a second appointment when I was ready to take another look. In the meantime, I visited additional stores but found myself comparing every dress to the one Ksenia had shown me. When I returned, I tried on only that dress and purchased it on the spot. Ksenia, Jana (co-owner at VeKa) and Zuly (VeKa's fantastic seamstress) were all at all of my three fittings. They were all wonderful, friendly, and accommodating, willing to tweak the tiniest aspect of the dress to ensure that it was perfect. By my third fitting, Zuly had masterfully tailored my (tricky satin) dress to fit me perfectly. Everyone at my wedding loved the dress and I was so, so happy with my choice. I have never felt more beautiful (and at the same time, comfortable!) than I did in my dress. I highly recommend VeKa for any bride looking for a wedding dress to reflect her personality. After going to many big name salon's, I found the dresses weren't the quality I wanted. I also was having trouble because my top is bigger then my bottom, and everything came in standard sizes. I decided to go into Veka after recommendations from others who had purchased dresses there and had such a better experience then many of the other bridal salons. The dresses were high quality (i.e. not lined in heavy polyester), and could be made to my measurements. I went with a dress from palazzo and everyone who has seen pictures said its the most beautiful dress; very sophisticated and unique. Can't wait to wear the dress. I bought my wedding dress here and could not have been happier with the experience. I mostly worked with Jana who really knows her stuff. Every option she picked out for me was beautiful. The dress I ended up choosing was just "meh" on the hanger and in another store I may have just walked by it, but when Jana suggested I try it on, wow. I wanted something simple, elegant, and modern, but not super trendy or a dress I've seen 1000 times in people's facebook pictures. I got exactly that. The whole experience was great and I was so happy I didn't buy my dress, or even have to look for a dress, in one of those "bridal factories," trying on dresses in front of 6 other customers or feeling rushed or pressured. I *highly* recommend Veka Bridal! this was the last of about 8 dress shops I visited over two days. I was pretty weary once I made it here but Jana and Ksenia were both so incredibly kind and helpful. They helped me find a dress that really resembled me and what I was looking for. They carry beautiful dresses at reasonable (in my experience) prices. They were helpful and gave thoughtful feedback on what looked best and what would make the most sense given the wedding location- they're true experts and I felt I could totally trust them. I went wedding dress shopping here today after reading all of these amazing reviews about Veka. I expected to find a personable low-key atmosphere where I could get excited about amazing quirky dresses. Instead it was a completely deflating experience. The shop owner, Jana, mostly ignored us for the first 20 minutes while she tended to another client because she was running late. But then when the appointment after us came in, she immediately switched gears to tend to them. In the end we were rushed through just about 30 minutes with her. Like other wedding dress shops I've been to, they have limited stock and so they only carry a single size in every dress. That's understandable. But unlike other shops, they seem to exclusively carry a size 0 or a size 2. I am a size 4-6 and I felt fat in every dress. At one point Jana even used the word sausage to describe the fitting of the dress. I couldn't see how the back fit on any of the garments because they didn't come close to closing. When I talked to her about pricing she scoffed at my price range ($1000-$2500) and it seemed like she mostly decided to tune us out from that point onwards. Based on the other reviews I'm not sure why I got this sour side of her, but for some reason she seemed to have evaluated us as not worth her time. read more

So, I really like both of the women who run this place. They are quirky, cool, and very helpful. Like, they'll tell you when something looks funny-bad, so you trust them when they say something looks good. I bought my wedding dress there, and was quite happy with the results. As in, I looked great on the wedding day, and while they have some pricey gowns there (I think mine was originally for sale at $4k - yikes!) I managed to buy "the last floor model" of mine, so it was almost half off. So, there are deals to be had. Just ask. The only problem happened when it came to the fitting process. I am highly organized, and didn't plan on losing weight for the wedding, so I figured I'd get it fitted right away after buying it. Our wedding was in August, and they told me I should wait until June, even though I'd bought the dress in November. I shrugged, and thought, "Fine! I guess this is how they do it." Everything proceeded well in June, except that when I went in for the last and final fitting, the bustier that accompanied my dress mashed everything down so that there was a gap of about 1" between my chest and the dress. I was a bit concerned, and they felt bad, and reassured me that they could fix it in time. I was leaving NY to help my parents prepare for the wedding (in Maine) and couldn't stick around to try it on once more, and they'd said they would mail it - which takes a bit off the price. It arrived, safe and sound in Maine, but when I tried it on, the bustier/dress problem was worse!! I ended up fixing it myself, with seam ripper and thread, three days before the wedding. Not cool. They also quoted alterations around $200, but when I went to pay for the alterations, it somehow was $400. I called them to discuss this, and they said they had a new seamstress with higher rates... would've been nice to know that before! They agreed to knock $50 off the price. So, basically, these gals have beautiful funky dresses, and they are really cool. But the dresses can be pricey, and they can be a bit disorganized. read more

Everything about VeKa is how shopping for a wedding gown should be: fun, intimate and special. This is the perfect shop for a bride with her own distinct aesthetic...who doesn't want to look like every other girl in the usual suspects of wedding gown designers. I chose a Palazzo gown and not only was it gorgeous...it was also comfortable and fitted (by their seamstress) to my shape perfectly.
