This review is a long time coming, but I can't recommend Alts enough and had such an amazing experience with Myrna, who is a true talent when it comes to bridal gowns. Myrna has incredible skill and detail for wedding dresses and delicately removed appliques from the bottom of the dress when hemming for length, preserving them to seamlessly add to other areas of the dress. She also added a very intricate bustle. I got so many compliments on how well my dress fit me (and I got to wear it twice for two different ceremonies)! I can't thank Myrna and the Alts team enough for helping contribute to all the details that made my wedding day so special. In addition to my wedding gown, I've also had pants and a jumpsuit altered at the BK Heights location and everything always comes out just perfect. I did not have a good experience with Elena. I needed my wedding dress altered -- a short dress made with delicate tulle fabric -- which was a little long on me, and the top portion too big. Our first meeting was pretty quick, but I was optimistic that she understood my requests and would be able to fix the dress. After the first alt, I was still not happy with the top of the dress. I showed her where it was too baggy and unflattering. We talked about adding a hook to part of the top, which I thought was a good idea. The hemming she did to correct the length made the front of the dress look like an apron, instead of the original design, but she said there was nothing to be done about that. After the second alt, the top portion was still very awkward on me. I did appreciate the hook that she added because it was subtle and did help a bit. But overall, the top was still baggy in all the wrong places, and some of her adjustments created bunchiness where there shouldn't have been. I asked her pretty directly if she thought it looked good/right on me, and she hesitatingly said yes. I promise you, it did *not* look good on me. She probably just wanted me out of her hair. But, determined to get this dress to fit me right, I took a chance on one last alt. After the third alt, unsurprisingly, the top portion still didn't look good. Clearly she did not understand what I needed, so I begrudgingly put a smile on my face and took the dress home, extremely disappointed in the result. In all of our appointments, she seemed insincere, annoyed, and in a rush. I was always kind and clear about what I wanted, so I'm surprised that she treated me this way. Luckily, I was able to take the dress to another alteration specialist (not with Alts) who understood exactly what I wanted, understood what looked good and flattering, and was able to fix the dress to absolute perfection. Of course this cost me hundreds of more dollars though... read more

This is my third alteration visit with Alts in Brooklyn Heights. They have completely reconstructed a men's two piece suit for me as well as more basic alterations. They are detailed in ther attention and on significant alterations they are untroubled by the need to make further adjustments after the first visit. I just visited with Oksana for three pairs of winter pants that needed to have the waist taken in. She advised me not to waist moneybon one pair that would be expensive because of belt loop placement. And she was great when having finished with me she returned when I realized I needed her to look at another pair that I had thought had rhe same defect. but did not. read more

Myrna is an absolute magician! I needed to shorten the hem and take in the chest of my BHLDN Chantilly lace wedding dress with multiple skirt layers and boning in the bodice. I honestly didn't even know if it would be possible. Myrna removed the bottom appliqué of the dress and raised it, using horsehair to delicately re-sew the lace back on. The result is seamless and FLAWLESS. My dress fits me like a glove now and I'm beyond excited to wear it at my wedding in a week. I enjoyed every time I went to Alts for my fitting sessions. The staff are so professional and pleasant. It's pricey but you get what you pay for, and for a luxe bridal experience, I highly recommend Alts! I had a great experience. I have recently lost some weight so I had a lot of items. Elena took the hour plus needed to evaluate and pin each item. The level of difficulty on several of the items was high - original hem for boot cut elastane jeans, restructuring bodice of a ball gown, hemming of a beaded dress, taking in a houndstooth sheath dress - in addition to a few waist and hem adjustments. I ordered a custom maid of honor dress online from a designer I love for my twin sister's wedding. This dress was a dream. I took my measurements myself - I wish I'd come in to Alts to have them take my measurements. The dress was way too long and there was far too much material in the sleeves. The dress is covered in super complex embroidered beading, making it a huge challenge to alter. Tatjana rose to the challenge. She's a genius. They hemmed it perfectly, shortened the sleeves, adjusted the bodice to be exactly right, and even added thoughtful touches like sewing in the ribbon belt. I was getting non-stop compliments all night at the wedding. But more than that, maybe for the first time in my life, I had zero anxiety about my appearance. I knew that my dress fit me *perfectly*. Overrated. Had my late dad's a suit altered; paid a mint; frustrating experience. Many problems; here's one. Got the jacket back and they didn't match the arms to the rest of it. So the jacket had big flappy arms and they said "you didn't tell us you wanted the arms altered too." Really? 90 dollar up-charge! Now the tail flap sticks out like a mallard.
