She fit the dress exactly to my body as it needed and I felt like I could trust her with my dress, as opposed to some of the other dress alteration companies in NYC that I've read some questionable reviews for. The price was reasonable, the experience was very easy and her and her mother working in the shop were very friendly. The shop is extremely small and tight, but the ladies here do a good job. At times, their vibe could be interpreted as unfriendly, especially if you've never interacted with them, but don't take their curtness for rudeness. In no way does it look like their intention to be unfriendly, but it's just the way they operate - quick and to the point. In addition, they don't speak fluent English, so sometimes things can get lost in translation. If you DO need any type of alterations or clothing fixes, all you have to do is walk in, present to them what you need done and they'll take a look at it on the spot and let you know if it can or cannot be done. If whatever you need can be done, they'll fill out a receipt for you with the date you came in, what the work is and how much it might cost. When your clothing is ready, they'll give you a call and you can come in to pick it up. It's that easy or at least those were the experiences I had and each time was a replica of the previous. In addition, the pricing for their work was very reasonable as I called up a few tailoring shops for a quote and Sanita's always came out as the lowest or equivalent.

I've sent men, women and nonbinary friends to them because I trust their work and they're respectful and attentive to customer requests on fit and drape, even if non-traditional. Most recently, I needed a linen suit tailored for an event. They know exactly what they're doing and how to do it. I was pinned with precision and they genuinely listen to about my desired silhouette. They're honest with you about what is and isn't possible, so you don't end up looking insane. If it's your first time getting anything tailored, I can give perspective that prices are definitely reasonable for the work, and hand work isn't (and shouldn't be!) cheap. It's a whole lot more reasonable than any place in lower manhattan. Keep in mind that it's cash upfront only.

I asked her "can you sew the original hem back on?" since many tailors that I've been to over the years do just that She said no, too thick. She will hem it to look just like the original. Okay, fine. Well I arrive to pick them up and the hem on the jeans is a solid 1" thick wide. I nearly blew a gasket. I calmly explain that this looks nothing like the hem on a pair of jeans, which is what I said I wanted. She apologized and rehemmed the jeans while I waited. Nevertheless, I think I'll take my next alterations elsewhere.

While the alterations don't get too complex, what AM offers usually covers most of what I need. Alterations pricing are also incredibly reasonable.
