Although I have yet to use their tailor services they took me quickly for a consultation and quoted a decent price for the work compared to other places for a wedding gown. They were realistic about what could be done which I appreciated the honesty as it was clear they were not trying to upsell me. Note I asked if they could make a simpler custom lace bridal topper/bolero and they said I would need to bring in the fabric and it be $1200, which seemed quite expensive. Disappointing experience. I had a brand new bridesmaid dress that was too long and big in waist / sleeve area. For the two different areas the total was $250 for alterations. The result had me exposed in the front by the way things were taken in and I will now need to tape the dress down for the wedding on both sides. This is what the tailor specifically said I should do even though I didn't anticipate having this issue. When I asked how much that part was specifically it was $180. I suggested that feels overpriced for now needing to rush order boob tape. She didn't budge and proceeded to tell me my waist was too big to take the area in a different way and increased the price since I was doing the balance with Venmo not cash. Won't be back. read more

Bad experience here - I requested a quote for 8 items and received a response that "The price is $x for the sewing work." I traveled 30 minutes and waited another 30 minutes to be helped. Upon checkout, the lady helping me told me this was the per piece cost. I showed her what she wrote to me in the quote and she clearly knew she was in the wrong. However, she wasn't willing to honor the quote. Waste of time... I'm giving an extra star because they were at least friendly. read more

I got my wool Max Mara coat shortened here. I was quoted $300 to shorten and ensure that the stitching was the same. I was quoted $160 if they were to cut the coat shorter, fold back the fabric, and sew it back (would be very thick on the bottom) To keep the same stitching for the Max Mara double wool coat, you have to be very careful in separating the two layers after cutting the fabric to your desired length. In my opinion, it is expensive to get it shortened here but 100% worth it. They did an amazing job and it looks like I never made any alterations. read more

The shop is clean and organized. I had 3 pairs of pants and shorts altered. The shorts, in particular, involved a complicated alteration of the waist. Everything was perfectly done at a reasonable price. They listened to what I wanted and did it. Their turn around time of one week is quick compared to other tailors. They are opened on Sundays which is a plus. Appointments are not required. They do not take credit cards. Be prepared to pay in cash or by Zelle. They are all very nice people and very professional. I have been coming to Wo's tailoring for about 6 years now. I found them when I lived in the Upper East Side, but I still make trek since I've moved to the West Side. I've gone to a bunch of tailors in the past, but none like Wo's. The price is fair (remember this is NYC though!), service is friendly, and their work is consistently excellent. I tend to be rather last minute when it comes to my tailoring needs, and they have always made it happen on time for me. Furthermore, I especially appreciate their honesty. I have had a few pieces where after explaining what I wanted done, I was told the price and that it was not worth the expense. It speaks to their integrity, and I trust them with my (sometimes rather expensive) closet. I wholeheartedly recommend Wo's tailoring - to the point where I would walk across Central Park in the pouring rain to get there (true story. Wo's worked their magic and gave me the dress of my dreams. Their attention to detail and skill reworked a size 10 ball gown with applique down to a size 4. They listened to my feedback and were patient with my questions. I probably went in for 8 fittings to get everything just right. Sheila made the scheduling process very easy and worked with my schedule. They also hemmed my husband's jeans and took in the lace sleeves of another of my dresses and did a great job on all of it. I came to Wo's with a suit I bought online that was supposed to give me a "perfect fit" based on their algorithm. The jacket ended up being about four sizes too big. While I can't speak to the quality of Wo's alterations, I can speak to their honesty. It would have been easy to take the $500 from me to reshape and then alter the original blazer. Instead they told me it wasn't worth the price to alter and to return the item for something smaller. for great customer service. read more

I came here for tailoring my wedding dress and it couldn't have gone better! From beginning to end, Sheila was super responsive and helpful. I'm 5'2 and weigh 100 lbs. Since I'm petite, my dress needed a lot of work despite buying the smallest size. My dress needed to be shortened and taken in at the torso, the hips needed to be taken in, straps shortened, hemmed, bustled and breast cups added. Sheila helped me understand what steps needed to be taken and in which order so I felt confident in what they were doing before they did it. 3 fittings later, the dress fit me like a glove! I brought a vintage leather jacket here to have the lining redone. Wo's did an incredible job. Not only did they recommend an even better fabric for the lining, they perfectly preserved the original tailor's patch that was on the inside of the jacket. It belonged to a lost family member, so keeping it as close to original as possible meant a lot. I would definitely use Wo again for any tailoring needs. read more

I had a last-minute-choice-for-an-evening-dress for a gala that needed to be altered immediately. I knew I was asking a lot to be making such a request the night before the event when I went searching for alteration possibilities on the internet. I live in the UWS and come to Wo's to get my alterations done. (it's about a 30 minute commute, which I thinks says a lot) I've brought in 4 gowns thus far (2 bridesmaids dresses, 2 bridal dresses) and have been completely satisfied each and every time. The ladies are super friendly and so knowledgeable, and I fully trust their recommendations and expertise. They truly know what they are doing and I have always felt safe and confident knowing that I will be happy with the outcome of the tailoring. All of my dresses have turned out beautifully; I've gotten the length hemmed, cups put in, straps shortened, waists taken in, etc. They are also so accommodating and will work with you to figure out timing that works best for all. Turn around time will depend on what you need done and how many fittings you need, and I have never had an issue as they are so efficient! ***Ladies, make sure to bring your shoes/heels with you!! Mr.Wo is an artist. I've only gone for alterations, (as a tailor, bespoke clothing is available), and I've been extremely pleased. Have dropped 40 lbs and unwilling to part with my nicer jackets and trousers, Mr.Wo has been able to tackle what would seem to be very challenging alterations, even practically reconstructing clothing so that it's better looking than ever; as if it were made-to-measure. Was one of the worst tailoring experiences. Came in for a simple hem that cost $80 and they caused additional problems with the dress. It cases a ruffle at the thigh which they continued to deny. They refused to provide a solution without additional costs. Would not bring anything of high importance here. Will likely get ruined. The poor customer service, the way they insult your intelligence and the fact they only take payments in cash or Venmo speak to the shadiness if their service.
