Brought my new suit to this place for a rush order, because I needed it for an event the afternoon of the next day. They told me the suit will be ready at 12, so I picked it up at 12 and hurried home to change, that was when I found out the suit is not finished. I contacted them, and they apologized and agreed to finish the suit. After I got the suit back the second time, I guess the suit is finished, but the quality is absolutely terrible, and they would not give me partial refund for not finishing the suit on time (which was the sole reason I paid 500 dollars for this, if I didn't need it the next day, I wouldn't pay that much for sure). This place cannot deliver their promise and the quality of service is not acceptable, especially for this crazy price. read more

Sam is one of the best tailors in NYC. My husband and I were married in May, and he did a custom 3-piece suit for my husband as well as altering my two dresses. I bought 2 dresses at a sample sale at Kleinfield's, and both needed adjustments. One more so than the other. Sam took the original dress and essentially re-made into a different dress that fit my vision, which was not easy by any means. The dress didn't entirely fit as well and I was very nervous I made a mistake buying the dress. Sam is extremely detail-orientated, and wants everything for his clients to be perfect. I'm so happy we both went to him for our big day. My husbands suit fits him perfectly and the color and pattern were exactly what he was looking for as well. Thank you Sam for everything! read more

I went to Sam Wazin when I needed a new suit tailored because he's one of the most highly recommended alternations tailors in NYC. He charges a price to match, which would be worth it if I got work that matched the recommendations. Unfortunately for me, I didn't. An assistant of his spent a few minutes measuring me up and then I picked the suit after a few days. I should've tried it on for fit immediately, but I was in a hurry and didn't try it on until I was at a wedding, at which point I noticed the sleeve length was totally wrong (way too long, down to my fingers), the alterations to take in the waist weren't nearly enough, making it look extremely baggy, and the shoulder / upper back area was a real mess, with it being very wrinkly when I stood in a neutral position. If I dropped my suit off at a dry cleaner's to have it altered for $40, I wouldn't complain, but I paid Sam Wazin $218 and he made a mess of a new suit. read more

I needed my measurements for a custom caftan. I needed the information quickly. I called Wazin after a quick Google search. I was told that I could go in immediately. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Very professional and courteous. I would certainly use them again. read more

I did not know what to expect when I arrived. All that mattered to me was that I get this dress tailored as quickly as possible. I am now SO thankful to have discovered Wazin and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for professional and trustworthy tailoring... My best friend was getting married this past weekend with two special ceremonies on different days (a Nikah and Cameroonian ceremony). I got a dress for the Nikah ceremony a long time ago but didn't know that the Cameroonian had a specific colorful and formal dress code until two weeks before the event...and I'm the maid of honor! Unfortunately, since it was prom season, I had extremely bad luck in finding an appropriate dress in stock and one that could arrive on time. So as soon as I arrived in New York, I finally found a great dress but it needed to be shortened and the bodice slimmed. I needed it to be tailored within TWO days! I called two places but they couldn't accommodate the rushed service. Then I called Wazin. Sam answered and immediately replied that he'd be happy to help me get this dress tailored. With two suitcases, a briefcase, and a new dress in hand, I stumbled on over to their address and was surprised to find such a professional and upscale place. I walked in to a cozy space with classic decor and met with a man who was dressed well - it was Sam! He was very kind, understanding, and knew exactly how the dress should fit me. He even suggested putting in a built-in bra into the bodice so I wouldn't have to use a strapless bra when wearing the dress (Ladies, DO IT. It was such a great suggestion). He was very honest with his opinions and helped show me where things should be cut and to what length. It was such a relief and surprise to find that my dress was ready the very next day. The length and built-in bodice fit me perfectly and I received so many compliments on this dress during the event. I am extremely grateful that I found Wazin and would absolutely recommend anyone looking for quality tailoring and genuine customer service to give them an opportunity to work with them. Thank you, Sam and to those at Wazin, for helping to make this a wonderful wedding weekend! read more

If you're looking for a magnificent tailor, then you've found him with Sam. I had bought a few nice suits that had to be tailored and I did some searching on Google and Yelp. After going through a lot, I decided to go with Sam based on the reviews that I'd read. I went there with two suits and he was great. He asked me what I was looking for and also gave me different options to choose from. For example, for my pants cuff, he said I could make it more formal or more casual. He asked for the type of look I wanted in my suit. I was happy that he gave me options and his recommendations instead of just dictating what it should be. He worked fast and efficient but never rushed. I probably took a little longer in the changing room but I never felt rushed at all. I needed my two suits for a photoshoot and he was very accommodating to making sure he got them done in time. When I went to pick up my suits, he had me try them on to make sure it looked and fitted well, and that I was also happy with his work. I was happy with his craftsmanship, and I had been going on a bit of a suit shopping spree, so I gave him two more suits to tailor after the original two. Overall, I was happy with Sam's attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the overall experience. You really can't go wrong with Sam and knowing me, I'll be buying more suits in the future, and like how everyone has a person for something, Sam will always be my tailor guy. read more

I brought in a pair of trousers yesterday afternoon that required some hemming. And Wazin got them finished earlier today! Fantastic turnaround time even though I told him it was no rush. He also did a very high quality job. It's the perfect length and I'm so excited to wear them. Very friendly, great service, and I will definitely be back if I have additional items that need tailoring. read more

I couldn't be more thrilled with Sam's expertise and work. I needed a dress totally reconstructed during this past holiday season for a TV engagement and Sam did an unbelievable job. He is so professional, brilliant with design and knew how to fix every picky detail I had, to deconstruct my entire dress; adding in a built in bra, shoulder pads and tailoring it to all my curves. It ended up being a stunning blazer dress and made me feel comfortable & beautiful the day of my event. I would recommend this work a million times over! read more

Wazin Custom Tailor & Alterations - The dress! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - New York, New York

Not going to get into the details, but do not go for Indian bridal lehengas, there are better options in the city for a much better price. They will do the bare minimum here and charge you way over price. We paid $1600 for two dresses and the end result was mediocre at best. If it's for your Indian wedding dresses, don't do it. Nice people I'm sure, but overpriced and unwilling to find the right solutions. This is probably a fine spot for smaller jobs or American dresses, but not lehengas or complicated outfits - tho they will try to convince you otherwise. They try to create shortcuts instead of properly fixing the garment. Which, if i only paid a few hundred dollars, would be fine, but we paid so much and expected much better. read more

Brought over a $2000 Paul Smith suit to have the sleeves shortened and the trousers tailored. Waited over 2.5weeks to get them back only to whined up leaving them for another two weeks. Pants were not properly done. Suit jacket sleeves way too short. Sam took them back and said all will be fixed. Unfortunately this was not the case. The work was not properly done. You can see from the photos. Where the sleeve meets the shoulder should not be so wrinkled, it should be a nice clean finish. There was even extra loose thread sticking out. Over a month pasted since I first brought in the suit. I just took it elsewhere and that tailor agreed the work was not properly done. Over $200 down the drain. I rarely post reviews but feel all the positive reviews can be misleading. read more

I came Wazin's desperately hoping to have two lehenga blouses altered for a close friend's wedding, one of which has detailed and delicate embroidery. Their customer service and craftsmanship is impeccable. read more

I cannot recommend Sam highly enough. I went to Sam with my wedding dress, with just a few weeks to go until the wedding, after the first tailor I used did a dissatisfactory job taking in my dress. I had purchased a dress a few sizes too big at a sample sale. Every tailor I went to said it was a tricky dress as the top had boning, embroidery, and applique work, and the bottom was a very unforgiving silk crepe. It was honestly such a relief to leave the dress with him because I knew I could trust him to do a great job. It really gave me such peace of mind. Sam not only took in the dress (which at that point was all I thought was doable), he also managed to magically adjust the severe gapping happening on the back of the dress. (In addition, I've also used him to get womens' blazers & pants taken in and all done at a reasonable price and to very high quality.) read more

Sam Wazin has been my tailor for more than five years now, and I must echo the outstanding reviews. This is the only tailor in NYC that I will entrust to handle my nicest garments (Cucinelli, Tom Ford, Zegna, etc) because quite simply they always do a fabulous job from simple alterations to more serious projects. Sam, and the entire team, have impeccable attention to detail, proportion and quality. Since Wazin is also a bespoke tailor, he is not afraid to take on more challenging needs (shorten jacket, re-cut pants, and so on). The client's opinions and desires are fully respected and expressed in the work, but at the same time valuable expertise and advice are always offered politely. Their knowledge extends beyond garment construction, to the fashion and design itself. If it is possible, Sam Wazin and his team can do it with style.  I always feel confident that the result will be nothing short of exceptional and fully customized. Highly recommend! read more

Went to Sam for a custom tailored black suit. The experience was amazing and the price was great for such a quality suit. Even after I miscommunicated what specs I wanted, Sam took care of it and fixed it, no questions asked. He did whatever was needed to make sure I was happy with my purchase. Would definitely go back to him again. read more

I needed a rented, complicated gown to be shortened without being cut. Mr. Wazin took the time to examine the fabric in order to properly assess how he could address my specific instructions. In the end, I didn't get the dress altered, but I wanted to comment on Mr. Wazin's excellent service and professionalism, as he was kind and attentive to my needs while giving clearly expert advice on the gown's complicated material. It was a wonderful experience to work with Mr. Wazin. read more

Sam is a miracle worker. I have been going to him for the past two years and will never trust anyone with my alterations like I do with him. He works quickly but never sacrifices quality. Wazin is great! I had bad experiences with tailors in NYC and I found WAZIN in yelp so I decided to give them a chance ( thanks to yelp ) and I don't regret it. The team is awesome and very helpful with me, they did a great job on some jackets I brought and I already went again to get some of my husband's suits altered... and not to mention that they do custom suits as well! Definitely recommend them! read more

Sam & his team are amazing at what they do - after taking a couple pieces to get altered (pants, blazers, skirts; they do everything), I decided to try getting a custom blazer for the first time. I'd thought about it for a few years but was always hesitant given the price. While definitely not cheap, the fit of the custom blazer is SO perfect. It is my most worn blazer since getting it and I've sent a few of my older pieces to get altered to these measurements since. Strongly strongly recommend them for any job, big or small, but especially their custom work!!! read more
