I didn't get the cheapest option, which was chicken katsu + teriyaki chicken, because that would be just too much chicken. I got the short ribs + seafood special and a can of passionfruit juice. It came out to be $11 something for both. My order came out fairly quickly, like in 5 minutes or so. Gross. I got the Garlic Prawns, and it definitely didn't live up to its namesake. The shrimp was doused in a cream-based sauce-- maybe mayo. If you are from Hawaii or have ever eaten at the shrimp trucks in North Shore, you would know that this is NOT how we do shrimp. $10 down the drain. This establishment should take Aloha out of their name and change their menu; this is cultural appropriation. As an islander, I was misled and highly disappointed. The dish tasted more Viet than anything. Although I do enjoy Viet-style seafood, this just wasn't what I was looking for nor expecting. As a 6 year resident of the international district, I never expected that one of my favorite places to eat would come from inside the uwajimaya food court! The price points are excellent, the menu offers a slight variation on some of the cuisine offered in the area, and with a small staff, the food is always well cooked (as well as tasty). You can't go wrong with the K&K plate or the lunch special (which is available at all times). And they might make the best musubi in the city. I heartily recommend going here. Seating in the restaurant is extremely limited, so be prepared to order to go or sit in a cafeteria-like setting. In closing, well worth a visit. Eat here and be happy. read more

The food is always good here! I always get one of the mahi mahi dishes either the fish burger or the mahi mahi entree dish. Wife always gets the Saba. There is parking on the other side of Uwajimaya so make sure to bring your parking ticket in to have them validate it if you buy a certain amount there is an outdoor and garage parking areas. Also this is a food court type set up so while restaurant itself does not offer bike parking there is plenty of sidewalk areas to tie up your bike. Also being a food court type dinning the noise level is consistent of that of most food courts. Also I marked no for group mainly cause it is a food court set up. So that would be up to your group if this is the style dinning you want or something more formal. read more

3.5-4 STARS... the service was very nice and the prices are not that bad for the amount thatyou get. I got the chicken katsu with brown rice and toss green salad. The only dressing they have is ranch and the alternative to green salad is mac salad. The chicken katsu is cut this but you get a lot and for it being chicken breast it wasn't dry. My friend got the katsu curry, the curry is actually really good and it comes over a big bowl of rice which more right that I got my my chicken katsu plate. The best lunch counter in seattle. There is variety and choice and the Owner is very fast and seems to remember you, which makes you feel seen. Inexpensive Hawaiian food with most of the favorites represented. We used to come here a lot when it first opened. I recommend taking food from Uwajimaya food court somewhere else - there are some "characters" running around (to the extent that you have to get key coded into the bathrooms) and it can be dirty. Today's extremely mediocre loco moco was a total let down today. You know how sometimes you just need some soul food or that solid, stick to your ribs type meal? I was counting on that from Aloha Plates today, and they really let me down. The loco moco was subpar because the hamburger patty was really tough and the gravy seemed a little on the "been sitting" side ($7). The macaroni salad was the quality I usually expect from Aloha Plates - it's a solid, classic Hawaiian mac salad. My daughter liked her chicken teriyaki ($6.50 on special), basic, filling. Normally I have the fried bananas ($3) - if they are still as good as they have been in the past, I recommend them. But I wonder if there's been a change in ownership or something??? Aloha Plates will have to step up its game now that there is more Hawaiian food in the area. Between the ambiance and today's offerings, I'll get my Island fix elsewhere for the foreseeable future. read more

This review is based solely on the Kahlua-pork, to-go, so I can't vouch for the other things that were all terribly reviewed by everyone else. That caveat aside, the Kahlua pork was one of the very, very few versions that I liked--really liked. It is super salty (good!), more crispy/dry than usual (again, good!), and goes really well with the cabbage. Most Kahlua pork is all soggy and gross, but not so here! The macaroni salad and rice were tasty, but not spectacular. Nothing here is going to win awards. It's not the same as a roasted-in-the-earthen-pit piggy we all wish it could be, but it's fast, cheap(ish), and fatty goodness. read more

So after trying every other place in the Uwajimaya food court (and being sorely disappointed) exasperated I finally gave Aloha Plates a try. And after doing so I really wish I hadn't. First off, it was like $7 or $8 bucks for a plate lunch that I'd get for $6 in Hawaii. Then after ordering the chicken katsu and having it served with sweet and sour sauce - yes i said sweet and sour sauce - I pretty much decided I'd never eat there again. I mean, how can you claim to be a Hawaii style restaurant and not have tonkatsu sauce???? Which oddly enough has Japanese roots - which considering that this place is in UWAJIMAYA would mean that this would be done well. Regardless, I continue to be disappointed with EVERYTHING in the Uwajimaya food court (note samurai ramen is not in the food court and remains the exception). So do yourself a favor and avoid this sham of a restaurant that pretends to serve hawaii style food and generally just avoid all the restaurants in the Uwajimaya food court. They all pretty much suck (though some suck more than others), the food aint cheap, and I'm sure you can do with out all the random yelling in some random form of broken english that seems to be part of the ambiance of this zoo. read more

Yah....to do hawaiian food, it's gotta taste somewhat hearty and tasty full of grease. otherwise, it won't be hawaiian food to me! Plus, the constant screaming in a shreaking voice for people to try samples "alohaaaa, try teriyaki" just isn't cuttin it. and its not the accent i'm talking bout but the high pitch ear blasting shreak of a voice the lady at the front gives off. I ordered the Katsu Saimin here for lunch after realizing I could very well go down the menu of Specialty's when I get back to the SF Bay Area (stupid me) and I thought this would be something light and somewhat cheap (not really $6.50). I was majorly dissapointed. At first the noodles were ok, but the soup or broth was a little too salty and didn't taste...well....good. The katsu was very dry and not crunchy at all on the outside even though I was going to add broth to it. But just like tempura at a Japanese restaurant, if you're having it with udon soup, you don't make it soggy. Nonetheless, I think the noodles were wayyy over greased and the soup didn't do it for me, neither did the katsu. and i don't think the fake crab pink oval things are that worth it either read more

For $2.50 you get a decent sized side order and I can usually eat the whole thing by myself in one sitting. Albeit...this mac salad is creamy with not a lot of filler. It has absolutely no flavor, other than burnt seaweed. Every time I eat here, the chicken katsu makes me sick. Not sure what it is, but it just doesn't sit well with my stomach. We ordered dinner tonight from this restaurant and it was amazing. It really hit the spot. We had two kind of chicken- teriyaki and some breaded chicken that was delicious. Spam musubi was also great. The only thing I didn't like was the salad dressing- something white and tasting too strong for my taste. Thankfully the dressing was in separate containers so it didn't bother me at all. I never went in this restaurant but what we got today was super delicious! We'll definitely order from them again. Not the best Hawaiian food in Seattle, although i can't say I'm an expert. I recently expanded my taste buds to Hawaiian food, after getting tired of the usual Sushi, Thai, or Vietnamese food. I just felt a craving for Hawaiian food, and stopped in after doing some grocery shopping at Uwajimaya. The lady was very friendly, and handed me a picture menu after she saw me stopping for a micro-second longer that one just walking by. I ordered the beef ribs. They were a bit dry and very chewy and tough. The flavor and sauce on the rice was pretty good though. I also wanted the macaroni salad, and instead I got a regular green salad on top of shredded cabbage. Oh well. I would definitely recommend North Shore over on Boren over this place. read more

Of all the food stalls in Seafood City Supermarket, this was one of the better one in term of taste and valve. We ordered herb encrusted Mari Mari combo plate and fried shrimp / fried Mari Mari / short rib combo plate. Both plates came with the choice of green salad or macaroni and cheese and brown rice or white rice. We went with green salad and white rice on both plates. The green salads were fresh and dressing was delicious. White rice was white rice. The herb on the encrusted Mari Mari was heavy on the garlic side, which was ok with us. We love garlic. The fish was perfectly grilled. The short rib and fried seafood was well seasoned and not at all greasy. Overall it was a good meal at around $20. read more

I love Hawaiian food. I'm from California, but I go in search of L&Ls wherever I live, and and I make spam musubis at home. That said, Aloha Plates is pretty good. The chicken teriyaki and kalua pig are delectable. I was pleased about the kalua pig because you don't often find that as an menu entree choice even at most H BBQ places. I had the best of both worlds - the platter with the kalua pig and the chicken katsu, when I am often forced to choose between the two. Katsu was good but a little drier than I'm used to. Know that this place is in the food court of Uwajimaya so it's not exactly a fancy sit-down place. Then again, I would probably be wary to go to an upscale H BBQ place (Roy's doesn't count) anyways. I work on 5th and Columbia and I make the trek to Chinatown maybe twice a week just to eat here. I always get he K&K combo with an extra egg on top. It tastes great and is always consistent for me. The portions are good for the price and they make it quick. The mac salad is delicious, all the other Hawaiian spots are way too salty. I would recommend this place if you are in the area. A quick update: If the older Korean lady is cashiering, ask her to confirm your order to you and make sure the register is zero'd out on the screen from previous orders. She over charged me $13 and voided it once I noticed it. But she already charged my card and still charged me again for the correct order and that the first amount will be refunded to my account soon. So I was charged $22 that day which really irritated me. Also, she doesn't really understand my orders for whatever reason in general which is also annoying. I won't dock a star because every other worker/owners are great and the food is good. It's just this one lady. But if the filipino looking cashier is working, you got nothing to worry about. I went here with my boyfriend after the mariners game, during the game: he saw this hawainn or Japanese Family that brought their own snacks with them to the game and one of the snack was spam musubi and so we were looking for the closest spam musubi place close to the stadium and we found this place. It was so delicious! I feel like this place looked definitely underrated for what kind of taste they serve. And their spam musubies were only 2 for $4.99! Which is such a steal! I work just across the street, so the food court at Uwajimaya is my go-to when I'm in a hurry. As long as you calibrate your expectations for food-court food, you'll be just fine. If I actually bothered to check in every time I came here, I'd have dozens more. I end up at Aloha Plates somewhat more often than any of the other food vendors. Good food at good prices, served quickly. The woman at the front counter is a bit tough to understand due to a pretty thick accent, but we get things worked out OK. It's located about midway in the food court at Uwajimaya. Some of the menu is Hawaiian, the rest is random Asian stuff. I think your salad choices are green, macaroni and kimchi, if that says anything to you. I can't think of many other Hawaiian places around, so this a decent choice. read more

I'm not going to tell you eating here took me back to my time in Hawaii and it may not be the best Hawaiian food you'll ever eat. BUT.... It's pretty damn good. I get the lunch special once in a while and I always enjoy it. Yeah, it's not healthy and it's a ton of food for $7.50, but it is damn tasty. If you're looking for a good Hawaiian plate lunch this is the place to go. It is located in the food court of Uwajamaya. They do very good fried fresh fish which changes frequently and my personal favorite the Katsu chicken sandwich. It is also a great place for a Kalua pork plate or sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of macaroni salad but they do an excellent version of it. I really never had anything bad and my husband loves it. The service is excellent and very attentive. You can also get Hawaiian Sun juices which come from Hawaii, they are the best. read more
