Decided to stop by this place as it looked like it was a good hole in the wall. The outside of the restaurant is beautiful and they have a very nice patio set up on the street. It was a little hot so we decided to sit inside. The bar tender was very friendly and provided good reviews of menu items. Drinks were reasonable for Fells Point area and the food was okay. We got cheese curds and mofongo. What's mofongo you ask? It's a Puerto Rican dish that is basically mashed potatoes but instead of potatoes plantains are used. Usually a really good side item and I hardly see it on menus so I was very excited to try it! The cheese curds were perfect, just as you would expect. The mofongo was bad. It was so dry and it looked like oatmeal. I'm very sorry Alexander's but I don't think this should be on your menu. It seems the American food you serve here is right on the money, maybe leave the Puerto Rican food for somewhere else. I don't really want to judge the place in that because what was I thinking ordering a traditional Puerto Rican item from an American tavern anyway? I liked the hole in the wall atmosphere, the good drinks, the American food, the patio, and the awesome service. I would be happy to return any day to try more menu items. read more

Amazing! Highly recommended for anyone with a gluten sensitivity and must eat for those with Celiac Disease! This place takes gluten free seriously!! They have their own dedicated fryer and make all plates with a special flag. My husband (no gluten issues) and I (celiac) shared the crab tot appetizer and crab cake entree. They were delicious, my husband said he didn't miss the gluten and I didn't get sick! Our server was very friendly and attentive. If we are ever back in Baltimore we will stop again. Walked in here last week for the first time on a sunny pandemic day because someone we passed said they got their crush from Alexander's Tavern. We walked in with our dog and face masks and ordered 2 grapefruit crushes and a blueberry lemonade crush. My grapefruit was the best I've had--with fresh grapefruit juice. So refreshing! Came here for a Sunday brunch with two of my girlfriends. I loved that they had a vegan menu, a brunch menu and a lunch menu with TONS of options available to us! I was feeling a healthy meal, which I was a little nervous about before arriving at a "bar" in Fells point. However I was pleasantly surprised! I was able to get an egg white omelet with sweet potato tots (no substitution charge.. amazing!) that was delicious! Although I didn't indulge in any brunch drinks, they were reasonable priced at less than $4 for a mimosa or bloody mary during brunch hours. I really enjoyed the separate room at Alexanders that was pretty quiet and comfortable. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Loved this and will remember for our next brunch outing! read more

So I ended up ordering takeout from this place. Was inside for a few minutes but it is a very chill, decently empty restaurant. Super narrow and tiny space, which I thought was notable, so I would advise against going here in larger groups because it might be a little crowded. Onto the food! The menu is filled with stereotypical bar food. As a born and raised Midwesterner, I have had a hankering for some good cheese curds in the area- they are hard to come by in Baltimore. Surprisingly, they had them on the menu so it was a must try for me! Maybe my palate is a little overcritical for these, but they were OK. The cheese wasn't too squeaky and they were a little too fried. I also ordered the Baja Chicken Nachos, which honestly could have been made better at home. The scarce topping was probably the straw that broke the camel's back here. For the price especially, it did not live up to the expectation. Finally, my sweet tooth overpowered me to order the Brownies a la Mode. As the best part of the meal, it just seemed like they were store bought and reheated. It would be against my values to say chocolate is bad, but this was a particularly unappetizing version of it.  Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the my food experience here. Brought extended family here for a brunch meetup. We'd contacted the restaurant owner a week earlier to ask for a private dining area and she was able to give us the second floor space for our party. Had a fabulous time: everyone enjoyed their meals (ranging from brunch items to burgers) and drinks. Tristan the bartender took great care of us. Prices were amazingly reasonable for portion size and quality. This was my second time here. We did a 12 Bars the first Saturday in December. They were VERY accommodating. They let us sit in the restaurant side because they weren't to busy yet. They didn't have staff for the restaurant but dealt with it. Some of ordered food, most just ordered drinks but the staff was wonderful! We had brunch and it was very good. Breakfast mac and cheese and a wrap (I don't remember which one). Today, we went for lunch. Again supper nice staff. Someone saw us coming around and told us to sit anywhere. He had water for us in his hands. Told us the waiter would be with us soon. The waiter was very nice. I was intending to go to the bar next door for lunch, but they were closed as I came to find out many pubs in the area are. Awesome ambiance, music was good, and the customer service was on point. Their pulled pork sandwich is also within my top 5 of best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. The pork was so tender and savory, perfect meat to sauce ratio and the buns they use are also primo. Definitely a great place to go to for a quick and delicious lunch and the prices were lower than their surrounding peers. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in the area. read more

I live close to the spot and when I saw them on the restaurant week list I figured what better time to try. I ordered two meals from the restaurant week menu for takeout. The shrimp tacos were definitely my favorite part and I will definitely be back to get more of them. They also had a yummy house salad (it had strawberries!) that I really enjoyed. Frankly I thought it was a little bit overpriced for bar food, but everything was freshly made and tasted good. I am talking one star because I specifically asked for the fruity pebble brownie and chose that as my dessert option, but when I got home I was given a regular brownie. I was incredibly disappointed because the fruity pebbles brownie sounded absolutely amazing. Since my order was for takeout I didn't have the option of sending it back or saying something about how my order must have been mixed up. The brownie that I received with my dinner was a very average store bought brownie. I'm disappointed that someone didn't double check to make sure that I was given the correct dessert option :( read more

One of the many bars in Fells Point, this one stands out for the great service, food, and drinks. It's very clean and they offer a wide selection of menu items, including lots of gluten free items that can be made dairy free too. Our awesome bartender even offered me gluten free vodka for my drink. We just came from dinner so I ordered a couple snacks. They have a cool tater tot menu. I just got the plain ones but even those had a lot of flavor. I also ordered the fried polenta which is served with mozzarella slices and tomatoes with balsamic glaze, reminiscent of bruchetta, but using polenta in place of the bread. I didn't get the cheese but it was still very flavorful and I would order it again. Great place to hang out. I'm sure we will be back before heading back to California. read more

My husband and I bought a Groupon for this location and it was fantastic! The Groupon allowed for 2 beer (or wine) drinks, an order of tots and a pizza. When we arrived, we chose to sit outside and were greeted by our energetic and super funny waitress. I wish I could have remembered her name because she was the reason we love this place. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband a local beer. We were pleased with both and finally settled on our food choices (which was hard bc the amount of tot options was nuts, heaven for a tot enthusiast such as my self). We landed on the margherita pizza and the crab dip tots. Food was the great! Pizza was a nice size and I fell in love with the balsamic drizzle, added a nice touch to a classic pizza. This place so cute and cozy. There's a lively bar on one side and a quaint dining room on the other. My date and I got a little table in the window. The waitress was very attentive and sweet. I'll start this by saying if you don't order anything else get TOTS. As much as I love potatoes I am not a fan of tots at all. My date and I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Tots and BBQ Sweet Potato Tots; both were fantastic! I could have used a little more spice in the buffalo sauce but the flavor was great. The combination of the sweet potato with tangy BBQ sauce and savory pulled pork was to die for. I want to replicate it at home! Even though I was completely satisfied after the tots I ordered the Maryland burger. It was cooked as I requested and the crab dip on top was delicious! I can't wait to go back. Fells Point is a very busy place with lots of drinks and bar eats, but Alexander's Tavern is at the top of the list. Like most of the locales in this district, it's basically a hole in the wall. But inside it's a great place to get a drink with awesome bartenders and a full bar. Friday's are the busiest but there's ample seating and there's never a long wait for service. The booze will get you in the door but the food will keep you planted. I always get the tot-chos, which come in a wide variety including Mexican, barbecue chicken and buffalo. You can't go wrong. They also have specials like bread pudding bites which are terrific. There's also the Saturday morning happy hour if you need to recover from the day before. Parking can be a chore in Fells Point so take an Uber if you can. After an hour of good drinks and food here, you'll probably need one anyway. read more

Do not get the crab cake. It was supposed to be jumbo lump, but there was no lump in it. I was told that was because they mix it all up and the lumps disappear. Really? I'm not a tourist, so I don't buy that explanation. The crab cake was mainly filler and mushy, the taste was off, and the color was even off. It is one of the worst crab cakes I have ever had in Maryland. My husband enjoyed the hangover burger, the tater tots covered in crab dip were good (though there wasn't much crab dip on them), and the brussel sprouts were alright. They did remove the cost of the crab cake platter (it really wasn't eatable), but did add 20% tip to the bill. I probably would've tipped that or more. I really don't like having tip added automatically for a party of two. Doubt that I will return. read more
