Adel's had its problems in the past, but they seem to have things under control. The restaurant is clean and pleasant, the servers are cheerful and the service is excellent. The food has been very good. I like my steak rare and hot, I got it rare and hot. The salad was all fresh, no chemical rinse taste ( I used to work the industry, I know the taste ). Adel's food and service is consistently excellent. I love taking my kids there after 4, when the kids eat for a dollar special begins. They are happy to customize any order for you, and the food is always delicious. The friendly, local atmosphere is one of a kind. You can't go to any of the big box restaurants around town and see the local "counter guys" chatting over coffee, like they do at Adels. Try the burgers! Never been here before. Stopped in for breakfast while visiting Humbolt Bay. It is on Highway 101 and is one of the many family style dining places on the highway. Staff was friendly and courteous. Stopped for breakfast on my way through. The interior is nicely decorated, granite counter top, lots of chrome. Service was friendly, though fairly slow considering how empty the place was early in the morning. The cheese Benedicts were advertised as Bennies with cheese sauce, though its color and consistency was reminiscent of Velveeta. Adding seared bacon on top of the ham was a nice touch though, and the eggs were cooked to runny perfection like I requested. I've been here plenty of times now and I can confidently say that for the most part, I like Adel's. I've never been dissatisfied with the food. It's nothing "top of the line" but its good. Same goes for the service. Sometimes my husband and I get a friendly waitress and sometimes we don't. I believe the prices have also been raised which was a bit disappointing.. I'm currently finishing what's left of my sirloin steak and egg breakfast and let me tell you, no one in Eureka has this place beat on diner food. The steak is absolutely delicious, eggs are cooked perfectly and the hasbrowns are perfectly crisp yet very flavorful and fluffy. The beautiful inside is decorated for the holidays and brings this lonely bastard a tear to his eye wishing I had someone to enjoy this breakfast with. Very happy to have found this gem, best diner I've been to in Eureka. This really hurts to give Adel's two stars, but I'll explain why. I've been eating at Adel's for years. It's always been good food, fast and very friendly staff. Lately I've noticed that the restaurant is not as clean as it use to be. The men's rest room is absolutely disgusting. The last two or three times, the bathroom is so nasty, I've walked out and cut my eating experience short. When I sit down, the first thing I notice is the dirty windows, and hand prints on the glass. The ceiling lights clearly have dust on them. I know that the staff works really hard, but how hard is it to get a bucket of hot water and do a through cleaning at night when the restaurant is closed. Cleanliness should always be the top priority at any restaurant, at all times, busy or slow! First impression is the everlasting. The entrance and exit door hallway stinks. It has an musty odor almost like stale urine. I can't explain it, but others have mentioned the same thing. As for the food, it's excellent! The coffee is the best I have had at any local restaurant. The one complaint I have are the french fries. Adel's use to have large big french fries. Now they've gone cheap and are serving little baby french fries, that are awful. As a customer, I hate it when an establishment changes things. I understand a business is in business to make money. Trust me, I get that I've worked in restaurants before. When something is working don't change it! Change what isn't working to make it better. On the last occasion I noticed a lady manager working at the counter on her laptop. I watched as she was working on something for the restaurant. she had no problem helping her staff bus food, and help where ever she could. I can tell she is a good manager, and really cares for the restaurant. That's great to see! I wish I worked for a manger like that :) All in all, Adel's is still a good restaurant. Great hard working staff. If I had the money, I'd buy this business! I love the atmosphere, I love food, and I love the customer service they offer. We showed up new years expecting a mad house! Boy were we right! Full house had to drive around the block /parking lot 2x to get a spot. We waited patiently and were seated promptly. Amazing customer service!! The restaurant was very busy but moves at a fast pace. We had a party of 6 adults and 4 children. Our waitress named Kate was fabulous. We we're very impressed by the attentiveness that she was able to show us being a big party, all the while handling multiple tables around us. Came here for dinner with my kids. We were seated quickly which was nice. Our waitress wasn't however, had a bit of an attitude. They didn't have good dinner selection for my 2 little kids so I got the chicken quesadilla for them instead. My daughter didn't like it. I ordered a chicken scampi for myself, instead what was brought to me was a chicken alfredo & a garlic bread (a toast with whatever they spread on it, nowhere near what a garlic bread should taste like.) It was ok, my kids ended up eating it. Waitress checked on us twice, didn't bother to offer water or even a to go box. The second (last time) she was somewhat nice and could be because we were leaving and wanted a decent tip. The food is okay. Nothing special. However, the dark-haired waitress has an attitude to put off any enjoyment of your meal. She will talk friendly and freely at length with her favorite customers but if you don't belong to her special club you have to hunt her down to get a coffee refill. She actually passed right by my table when bringing around refills...several times. I had to flag down her friendly and competent fellow server. Go to Denny's instead. First impression....CLEAN! Even the salt and pepper shakers were clean. Very nice establishment with attentive staff. Excellent variety of menu for all. Unsure if they have a kids menu a senior menu but I'll ask next time. Green salad was very large comparatively and couldn't have been fresher if I'd put it together myself. Had a French Dip for the main course and it was filled with meat which was nice to see and the Au ju was not overly salty. Overall, def a must visit for the price and service. read more

Christmas dinner what a waste of my money! I took the wife in for dinner tonight and what a disappointment. 4:25 pm and had to wait for a table as they do not take reservations for less then 8 people. 35 minute wait then another 45 minutes for dinner. I had prime rib and it was the worst piece of meat I have ever had, tied chewing through several pieces and had to spit every one on my plate.. My baked potato was hard and also not fit to eat. I have had better round steak for a buck and a half a pound. I complained and the cashier stated they were just very busy. That is a management problem not mine. I will never eat there again and never recommend it to anyone either. Almost forgot to mention my salad was served in a bowl so hot it had wilted and was also unfit to eat. read more

This restaurant is great for guests who are over 60 years old and for those who are taking their parents or grandparents for a nice meal. For anyone whose medications have not destroyed their taste buds, if recommend looking elsewhere. The food is exceedingly bland (which, honestly, is probably influenced by the fact that the median age of their clientele is 65). I ordered the haystack chicken sandwich and the bacon was even bland. I'm not sure how they did that, but I was stunned. Then we ordered the Brownie Obsession ("warm fudge brownies, hot fudge, vanilla ice cream, chopped nuts, whipped cream, and cookie crumbs") for about $7 and when we got the order, the "warm fudge brownies" were microwaved Cosmic brownies. You know, the Little Debbie's brownies that come in a box for $3? I'm not even kidding, the waitress ripped open a package of Cosmic brownies. I love Cosmic brownies and wouldn't be so offended if they had said that in the description, but when I pay $7 for a "warm fudge brownie", that's basically what I expect. The service was fine, the establishment was clean (if a bit worn), the food arrived quickly and was obviously made fresh, so I know they do care about their food. However, if you're not looking to use a whole shaker's worth of salt on your meal, I'd suggest going across the street to The Pantry. read more
