The "customer support" / "Front desk" lady at this location was hands down the worst I've encountered. I needed to mail a package and asked for a sleeve so I could put the label in. She gave me the sleeve and brusquely asked me to put the label in. I was struggling to peel off the backing and asked her if she could help, but she refused to help. She just stood there with a smug smile as I struggled with the sleeve. I commented that it was part of her job to help, and she said "this is a drop off location, you need to do this yourself". Seriously?! Maybe there's an infinitesimally small chance that she could have died if she helped out a little, but honestly, she could've taken that chance in the name of customer service. And then she took offense at "the way I was talking to her", at which point I pointed out that I didn't want to indulge in this in front of my 6 year old child who was standing right there. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I regularly mail packages out and always have had extremely positive experiences with UPS, Fedex, and even the local USPS. Had a very unpleasant experience here - made an appointment for fingerprinting a week prior and I show up and it's closed. Called the number of the door and the gentleman who answered mentioned the person working was out sick, but they never contacted me to reschedule (even though they have my contact information). He mentioned "they" tried to reach out, which seems like he had no idea what's going on. It's possible that this is pretty common at this business. Their information on yelp mentions they're open by appointment on Saturday, but he didn't offer to reschedule for that. If I can't trust a business to honor an appointment, trust them to contact me should something come up, trust that they won't make it right - would I trust them to take my fingerprints, mail packages, or notarize my documents? read more

Extremely Frustrating Experience- Went to have my daughter (a minor) finger print scanned for her volunteer job at the library and brought supplemental documents as required (birth cert./soc. security card) since she doesn't have her Driver's license yet(she has a valid CA. permit) which we also brought along with a High School Student ID and her passport which had just recently expired. The gentlemen at the counter barely even looked at what we brought in and explained that it wasn't sufficient and that he wouldn't perform the service. I tried to discuss the matter with him to no avail as he insinuated i was merely trying to persuade him to do the job. I understand there are requirements and felt that everything he needed to establish her identity was more than sufficient as outlined on their website. I told him we'd go elsewhere and have them perform the service and his response was quite cavalier and that yes I can go elsewhere. So i did just that, a quick drive and within 10 minutes of arriving at the other business my daughter was completely fingerprinted and we were out the door. Before leaving this place my daughter thankfully remembered that the clerk had taken her application and neglected to give it back to us, thank goodness or I would have really been bent out shape. Now that we've had to go online with our business, this place is so great to meeting our needs cause we ship food so we have to package orders quickly and have delivery made quickly. This store has been willing to help us figure out timing of pickup and even kindly ask the pickup courier to wait a few minutes if we were still packaging! I had a terrible experience here. First, I had to wait over an hour in line to do my background check that I needed for my daughter's school. Once we were done I paid and they gave me a receipt. When I decided to join a field trip at my daughter's school, my school told me that my background check was never processed. They even checked with the justice department and my name wasn't there. And that I needed to go and check with this place I paid. Once there, the man that looks like he's the owner says that I need to do it again and pay again. I request my money back since he never provided the service a paid for before. He kept denying it and I told him that was a criminal action. He told to leave and NEVER apologized about the mistake. I would never recommend this business since they took my money and never apologized for the error. read more

I did a lot of research on notaries and used several other people before finding my way to A+ Mailboxes. I wish I knew about them earlier! One of the other notaries we used worked full time at a bank so just trying to SCHEDULE with the guy was painful! With A+ Mailboxes, you can just walk in any time and there they are. No appointment needed. Over the course of a year, Superman and I have had to get passport photos, fingerprinting, photocopies, numerous documents notarized (off site as well), numerous items to UPS and FedEx... heck... I've even bought greeting cards at this store! The fact that it's a one-stop place and conveniently located downtown made things so much easier for us. We also appreciate that the owner helps us to figure out the best and most economical delivery service to use, depending on the circumstance. Sometimes it's rush, sometimes signatures are needed, sometimes it just needs to be tracked but not rushed, etc. He will even tell us if it's cheaper to mail from the post office. Who does that?! Most of all, the owners are genuinely nice and friendly people. Dylan is the kind of guy you want to have drinks with after work because he's just so chill and relaxed. I am happy (relieved!) to have A+ Mailboxes as a local resource, and I'm sure we'll be using their services for a long time to become. Highly recommended. read more

Amazing little gem of a copy/print/shipping place. I needed a passport photo in a hurry and A+ delivered! They took the time to help set my up appropriately, so the photo wouldn't be rejected, and allowed me to choose from the picture options taken. With a government issued document that will be with you for years, this little extra option to select my best photo was so appreciated. They then made sure that my photo made it to the passport agency immediately ( overnight). I will totally be back- they convert VHSs to DVDs! For all you '80-'90s kids with boxes full of memories, this has got to be your place to go and get them updated into a format you can enjoy all over again. read more

We came here for live scan finger printing services and had a very pleasant experience. They originally don't offer Saturday service but as we can't do it on work days, Dylan and his wife went an extra mile for us. My finger prints are fine and difficult to get right, but they were very patient, and also knowledgeable about a good finger print would be like. We've been very satisfied with the scan results as well as the copies printed to card. Almost forgot to mention they're very strict with personal information, they would delete the personal info on their computer the next day for safety purpose. Today I needed to get fingerprinting done for my professional license- I was met by Dylan who was friendly, very knowledgeable (he knew a TON on different kinds of fingerprinting and which is used for what) and very professional! My prints are not easy to capture due to my very dry hands, and he really took his time to make sure they were perfect! I would agree on "inconsistent customer services". I had such a pleasant experience with them for notarizing service and came back to mail some packages only to waste my time when I could've taken them somewhere else. Before they started I wanted to get the prices of packaging service. The lady gave me pricing for the box and packaging since I didn't have my contents wrapped up already, I agreed and they started packaging. When they were done and they were ready to ship, she started adding more charges on to what she said earlier. It was not the matter of how much more it was at all, in all it was only 2-3 dollar difference. What got me angry was her attitude. When I asked her why the charges were, she kept on saying it's only few dollars difference. I didn't agree to pay and asked her for the breakdowns. She didn't even do the math right. I said I didn't want to use them anymore and I'd undo all the stuff and leave. She said that's not possible because I wasted their time already. She also decided to lie to my face that the labels were already printed and that it cannot be cancelled. I demanded to talk to the boss and she said she wouldn't call her boss for this kind of matter at first, but when I mentioned the California consumer law, she finally called the boss. Even with her desperate convincing her boss to make me pay for her precious wasted time, the boss decided to let me go. She tossed a cutter in front of me saying that I can undo them myself. I wonder if she knows about liability, had I cut myself undoing the package??? read more

Bad and inconsistent customer service. The lady there has no customer skills and is super bureaucratic. Got a ping on their poor designed app that I got a mail. Address/name is clearly mine. They refused to hand it to me because sender put "unit" behind mail box number. It was a tax document so I suspect something's wrong with the sender's system and by default "unit" is in the address. When asked why they can't hand it to me, she refused to answer. When asked if she would notify the sender to remove "unit" in the address, she handed me the iPostal1 customer service number and asked me to leave. Rude! read more

Dylan has been at this for awhile and has a great deal of experience - he knows what kind of Notary paperwork you'll need, what causes problems for fingerprinting, and what kind method of shipping will work best. Nazish is a little newer at it, but is still has vast knowledge and is extremely helpful and friendly. We used them for much of our adoption paperwork and we wish we could have used them for everything, but that wasn't physically possible. Given the importance of the documents, I really appreciated the care she took. I have been a customer of Dylan for over 10 yrs. He is a very professional, kind, reliable and nice person. We use his notary public, passport, DHL and FedEx services frequently. He always makes himself available before and after working hours if you need his assistance. When my mother in-law was ill and was residing in a Nursing Home and we needed to notarize a Durable Power of Attorney, he made himself available in the early morning to stop by the Nursing Home to notarize the document. Even though I live in Burlingame, I always went to San Francisco to his office in the Mission Neighborhood. Today, I called the SF office and learned that he opened another office in San Mateo.This is definitely a more convenient for me. I recommend his services to everyone. I went here during a short lunch break to get a document notarized and mailed. The woman who was working there was helping the customer in front of me with fingerprinting and did not acknowledge me when I walked in (it's a small store and it was only me and the other customer). She knew the customer she was helping and they were chatting away about their kids and school and a bunch of other stuff. Fast forward 15 minutes of patient waiting and she says to her friend "Oh the credit card machine isn't working by the way, but I'll take a check for you since I know you well". Of course I only had a credit card. She then turned to me and said "the credit card machine hasn't been working this morning". I asked if there was an ATM nearby and she told me she didn't know, that I'd have to look it up. I left and went to the UPS store instead- I was in and out of there in 5 minutes. Chatting away with a customer/friend while keeping another customer waiting for 15 minutes without telling the second customer that the most common method of payment isn't working is, clearly, horrible customer service. I could have easily gone to an ATM and returned in the 15 minutes that I was waiting for her to finish with her friend. read more
