I've been using this post office for many years and have always thought the employees were friendly, professional, and competent. Recently, the long-time (like 15+ years) clerks have disappeared from what I can tell (hopefully just reassigned) and there always seems to be a new person when I go in. Fortunately, these new clerks have been friendly and (mostly) competent.
So why the 2 star review? Because of the CUSTOMERS! This post office primarily serves Bayshore area businesses. There are at least several companies who ship very large numbers of packages on an apparently daily basis. Rather than use online services to prepare and ship, these companies haul their dozens upon dozens of boxes into the post office and have the clerk individually process each package. Usually these packages each have some insurance and other forms to go along with them. Though the sign by each counter clearly states all forms must be filled out ahead of time, some of the companies do not and the clerks don't enforce the rule. As a result, each one of these companies ties up a clerk for an hour or more at a time. That is bad enough when there are 2 clerks working, but this location often (usually?) only has 1 clerk on duty. Just today I encountered such a situation and was told I couldn't be helped and to come back over an hour later or go somewhere else. I ended up driving 20 minutes round trip to the Millbrae PO for something that required 30 seconds from a clerk.
First off, these companies need to get with the 21st century and use online services so they stop taking over the post office for hours on end or, at the very least, go to the airport post office which always has plenty of clerks on duty. Second, the post office needs to enforce its existing rules about completed forms, require such customers to use online services, staff more clerks, and develop a protocol which allows a clerk to stop and help other customers. Make those rude, selfish companies wait for a change! read more
