This is my favorite post office! It's not perfect, but I have lower anxiety when coming here. The post office is conveniently located off of Hillsdale and Foster City boulevards. Nearby is the public library, restaurants, Starbucks, Indian Grocery, Highway 92, the fire department, the police department... I actually haven't see many police officers or vehicles when I go to the post office, but one did randomly pop out of nowhere to help me with my packages one day. So I do feel a little bit safer coming here at night for my errands. It is also less crowded at night. But sometimes they lock the package drop-off even on weeknights when it isn't a holiday. They have a self-service kiosk that I tried to use, but I could not figure it out - hopefully you don't pay for expedited shipment only to find the dropbox is locked. Maybe whoever locks it works the next shift and they want less packages to process the next day? One time, someone just left their packages in front of the dropbox unattended. During the day, the postal workers are friendly and helpful (and forgiving). There are also more pedestrians because of the businesses and also because the post office shares the building with the Atria senior living complex. I often see seniors walking around. There is ample parking and several 15 minute slots - you can park across the way if you don't mind walking. read more

this US post office didn't have any blue drop off box outside. there's a drop off unit on the wall just inside the door. noticed the service stations weren't busy. easy to go in and out. parking lot isn't full. easy to park and drop off my voter registration form. read more

HOWEVER...When I went to my PO Box today they were all kinds of locks and keys sitting right there on a rolling table with no one around! Every other post office I've been to has drive-up drop boxes. Not this one. You have to find a parking space in the always crowded parking lot with small spaces, and walk into the lobby just to drop a letter in the mail. What should be a 30-second detour on my way to work can take 10+ minutes when parking is bad. So much for no contact, outdoors drop off. Why didn't they just move the drop boxes from outside the old location? There's tons of curb space where boxes could be located in this inefficient parking lot. read more

Its really, really, really, really annoying to get a summons that requires you to make additional trips during your biz hours (which are NOT convenient for me in the slightest bit) to receive packages that should have been lest in a parcel locker. Just like the tracking said it was. Because of this laziness i have to reschedule my work trip and cover the $540 fee out of pocket. The summons says the package "was too large". The box was no larger than a shoe box. I've received dozens of packages this exact size before so theres no reason to require this stupid and massively inconvenient summons. Ill be canceling the box immediately, expect to see a summons for an inconvenient time from me. read more

Not sure why they have such low ratings but this is hands down the best usps i have ever been to. The employees are actually nice here and care about their customers. I came in here few weeks ago to mail a parcel. I was about to purchase a box and some tape for my parcel and when I got to the counter Eng told me there was a cheaper and better option for my parcel. Wow. I had the honor of meeting Engbeng recently. Engbeng is awesome!! Engbeng went above and beyond in making sure I got my packages when I missed the cutoff time. This was most appreciated since this eliminated the need for me to make a second trip for the missed packages. In my prior PO Box post office, this was never the case. I'm so happy to have a PO Box at this Foster City Post Office with such top notch Postal Service Representatives as Engbeng. This post office is always clean, fully equipped, modernized, and has the best of the best Post Office Team. Now there's a self service machine in the lobby! The scale was broken when I went though. It would show 1.2 oz even when nothing was on the scale. I had prepaid for my package so I didn't need the scale, but if I did need the scale, it would be a bit frustrating. Hopefully they'll fix this soon. This way you can use the machine to buy postage for your package even when the post office is closed. read more

Good experience here: ample parking, short lines, fairly friendly and helpful staff, and best of all, they were open later than any other post office around San Mateo County on a Saturday (most close at 12:30pm, this one at 2pm). Super convenient and accessible! read more

For my job, I come to this post office at least 3 times a week, so I feel like I live here at this post office. And when I mean by "live," the lines are at least 30 minutes long half of the time I walk in. While there are 4 counters, there will be 3 clerks at most to handle customers. Thankfully, if there's something quick to do, there is a self-service machine, which I highly recommend to bypass the long lines (sometimes out the door). Also, the credit card machine has been acting up lately. At least 3 times in the last month, the clerks were unable to process credit/debit card transactions. Make sure you have cash or a check ready. Parking is usually good during the week. But there is a Farmers Market in this shopping center on Saturdays; if you dare come by then, you may have to circle the parking lot a few times before finding a spot. I will say that the staff at this post office are very friendly and helpful, even though their jobs are endless. Despite all the long lines of people, they are always willing to go the extra mile for customers. read more

I hate this USPS location. I baked some sourdough bread to send over to my mom and came to this location to ship it off. The Korean lady named Kim was the most awful person. She started yelling at me because I couldn't locate the priority boxes that they hadn't restocked. After giving me the box - which was too flat for my boule, she started to shove the bread I had baked with so much love and care into a tiny box. She proceeded to yell at me for trying to write my address on the box while at the desk when no one was even around. As I did so, she kept grumbling about how it wasn't fair for the next customer who would actually be ready for her in her terrible broken English. The payment process was even worse. Bread is perishable, so for the first question on whether the content is perishable or not I answer 'Yes'. She then looked at me like I was stupid and gave me a lecture on what perishable means. "What did you do? *judgmental stare* Bread not perishable like fruit," she said as if I worked at the post office. I will never come back to this location no matter how convenient it is. *Note: I am Korean (not being racist). This lady has some serious anger issues. read more

My mail carrier is great but my skin crawls when you have to go into this Post Office. I don't think I have ever encountered a greater group of people that make it as unpleasant as they possibly can. They are cold, unhelpful, and make it as difficult as they possible can. I would rather pay more and go to UPS than go back to this post office! read more

So if I can give this place a negative 5 stars I would give this place a 20 negative stars!! I swear how freaking hard is it to write the correct info in the delivery notice form? They tell me to pick up my package at the Post Office M-F 2-5pm. SO why the hell is the package not there? It's really annoying when you wait 40 minutes in line to get your package and find out it's not there. The sad part is this isn't the first time this happened to me! ITS the freaking 3RD time this happened. This happened before and they wrote down to pick up my package M-F 9-2pm and when I get there the worker tells me "oh the driver wrote the wrong time it should be after 2pm" ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?!?!?!?! This place is C-R-A-P!!! Management needs to hurry up and fix their employees or start firing people cause there is a lot of unemployed people out there who needs jobs that actually knows what they are doing! read more

There's always parking. Line, if any, is relatively short comparing to other locations. They have the automated system where you can take care of any/most mailings on your own. It's always clean. April, one of the postal workers, is a real joy - very friendly and helpful. read more

Love the new, clean, and convenient location! My experience has always been positive when dropping off packages and obtaining a confirmation receipt. There is ample staff and lines move very efficiently. There is also a Starbucks, gym, and stores nearby so I no longer need to drive out of my way to find the post office! read more

I usually go here for any quick mailing errands and people are usually helpful. Try and go during non peak hours as there always seems to be a line but can be a bit shorter during non lunch and late afternoon hours. read more

I actually love this post office because it's never crowded and parking is never an issue. I have been to many post offices (all in California) and for some reason, the parking lots are always very small with only a few spaces. It's like they try to make you stay away. I have to admit, I have never had super friendly service at any local post office so I don't expect this type of service, sadly. However, the staff at Foster City has always been at least courteous and civil. I've never had an issue with their customer service or with items getting lost. I actually have recommend this place to other people who live in nearby cities because of the short lines and big parking lot. I came here the week of Christmas expecting a long line, cranky customers, and an overworked staff but instead was pleasantly surprised. There were 3 people in line and the customers and staff were all very nice. I did overhear a customer saying he got an email from them saying his package was lost but the worker said that it was a virus sent out and that it wasn't directly from the USPS. The customer left and was really upset...not sure if it was because he may have gotten a computer virus or because he had to make a trip to the post office in the morning of a workday. read more
