We went to get my daughters passport today and the service was 5 star and Anjana was super nice. It made the entire process quick and easy.

This is my first review and I had to give kudos to the employees. The staff are very friendly here. I come to this office frequently. The only issue I have is that there is never enough people working at the counter. Every time I come here, the supervisor is always helping with the long lines in the lobby and is very friendly and helpful. The cashier by the name of Anjana always has a positive attitude and always smiling. I don't understand all the negative it is but my experience here has always been positive. Sorry to see so many bad reviews, I can understand why because I saw a few customers get very frustrated with the employees. Some even yelled, which was quite disturbing. The employees handled it well and just walked away from them. But these days scary things are happening and I guess going off-peak hours is best. Passport service is not good here. We came here to apply the passport for our newborn and the staff helping us is not patient which we can tell from the way she asked for our material. We prefilled everything online and printed out, but she requested us to filled out something that is optional in the form. It's still okay just the way she talked makes us feel like we're in DMV. The worst thing is to take the passport photo here. I just asked if there's built in flash light because I don't want my baby to look at the flash light when taking photos. The staff refused to even check on it and said the flash light is must have. I guess she didn't have a sense that newborn babies should avoid direct flash light when taking pictures. I ended up decided not to apply the passport or take pictures here since I don't think that lady showed any patience or understanding. read more

Just dropped by off today. December 19, 2020 around 12:40pm. The lady that helped me today. Blonde. Caucasian. I should have gotten her name. Perhaps in her late 50's was extremely rude. It's a busy holiday season. And I had about 30 letters within US and 7 letters to be mailed international. I have counted them beforehand but i forgot. So I had to recount. She was impatient and constantly saying "do you wanna pay first?" "Oh my god" "I cant believe this".. Her co-workers seemed to be fine and very polite to customers. She didnt even ask if I wanted it to be registered or anything. She just handed off my stamps and said "NEXT". I did not even know where to put my mail. As I do not mail often. After multiple negative experiences with an employee at this location, Tessa, I have decided to leave a review in order to warn others. I have a disability that doesn't allow me to stand for very long periods of time --think increments of five minutes at a time-- so I went to the front of the line with a pick-up notice I had received in my PO box. Tessa was extremely hostile and rude and said, "I don't care. You have to go to the back of the line." There was an extremely long line going out the door. I once again informed her that I have a disability and that I was only requesting a package pick-up. Tessa then went on to call me rude and loudly asked me, "Why are you doing this to me?" I simply restated what I needed. After this experience with Tessa I don't feel welcome at this location anymore and I am unfortunate enough to have my PO box here. Long lines and slow service are commonplace here and I recommend you go to the location in Downtown San Mateo instead if you'd like to be treated like a human being. Run! read more

Once again, I'm here because the manager asked that I arrive between 8 and 830 to pick up live poultry and what happens? The manager didn't tell the employees and then the employee slammed the door in my face saying "sorry, we dont open until 830". Even when I explained that her boss called me and I am picking up live animals, she still said no, sorry. Was so rude. And like always they ended up on the delivery truck again. This is how they die. When you leave them in a cold, unstable location. I cannot tell you how many hundreds of animals have died because of this post office. It sucks and I wish I could go somewhere else. Today, I came to send some eyeglasses back. I wasn't sure how or which way it will be the cheapest way to send it back. I asked a lady, and she was very nice and helpful. I did one of the options she said. When I went to pay, I got her again as a clerk. She complimented my handwriting. It was funny how she was surprised when she saw the handwriting. She was helpful throughtout my today's experience. I don't know if that was the cheapest way, but it wasn't to bad of a price. Customer service was great. I usually don't have that bad of a customer service in this location compare to other USPS. Parking is great too. A lot of parking outside. read more

Conveniently located post office if you need your stuff done! First of all, there is a big parking lot in front of the building. It may be crowded, especially during the lunch hour, but it is here and available to you. Secondly, they have staff who are available to help you out. All windows are working and the line moves fast! What a bliss to come to the post office and do everything you had to do in a shortest time possible. Finally, these ladies are trying to be nice. They ate pretty busy but speak to the point and try to help you the nest they can. I had to file some governmental papers and even though my appointment was a week out, they went out of their way to help me. I appreciate that. The Post office itself is dated and looks boring and dull but people who work here are not. I highly recommend to bring your business here! read more

AVOID THIS POST OFFICE AT ALL COSTS! I would give 0 stars if possible. I have had multiple issues with this location within the span of one month. First, I was awaiting an international letter and had it scheduled to be delivered on a Thursday. They did not even attempt to redeliver. I received another delivery attempt slip (even though there wasn't one), filled it out, and left it in my mailbox. The following day, I saw the mailman delivering my mail when I asked him if he had a letter for my address. He said, and I quote, "sorry, your usual mailman is on vacation and it's not my job to redeliver your letter." Like what?!?!? I was outraged. I called the post office and a man hung up on me when I told him the situation. I had to call again where he gave me an attitude and spoke to the manager who was able to get me my letter. The following week, I dropped off a few packages. When they were received, the person scanning used the arrival gun instead of the departure gun so my customers could not track their packages. When I called to inquire about it, I was hung up on again and once again had to call back and speak to the manager. And FINALLY, I dropped off a total of 6 packages last week to get shipped out. 4 of them were scanned and shipped out, but 2 of them were not scanned. I thought that perhaps they were scanned with the wrong gun, but nope! The post office manager told me that they 'probably got stuck in a machine' or that 'they flew off the truck' and because they never got a departure scan, they couldn't even declare it as lost mail. I find it very suspicious that 4 of my packages shipped, but 2 of them disappeared?!? The manager was NOT helpful and basically told me tough luck and that there's nothing they could do for me and it wasn't their fault. I DO NOT trust this post office. You are better off going to a different post office. read more

I had to make a return and was having trouble on how to ship it back. Luckily I was helped by Boba, the sweetest clerk I've met at any post office. She was able to assist me quickly and even helped me fix my label. Her service was so refreshing I hope everyone else gets to experience someone as courteous and knowledgeable as Boba. read more

This is for the Delaware St branch that handles mail to my area. I get email notice of scanned mail that is on the way to my address. I have NEVER lost a piece of mail until one which appeared to be a check was NOT delivered. The day of scheduled delivery was a day when the usual mail carrier was substituted for a different guy. The check was either stolen after being scanned or stolen by the substitute carrier. Whoever it was is a PATHETIC LOSER. I doubt it was a check because I don't get checks in the mail for anything, for this very reason. read more

There's a backstory to this, but I'll get there. This is the second time I've been to this USPS. I'm a bigger fan of the general cleanliness of this location, however the service is unbearably slow. Paint dries faster. I always end up up waiting at least ten to fifteen minutes if not more each visit. Ten to get through the line of two people and five minutes for them to find my package or letter. It's beyond frustrating - at least Fedex will take several "We missed you" cards at a time, go grab the items, and start checking people out one by one. USPS is just inefficient and honestly not well trained. This visit was even worse than the first because I had no idea who sent me the certified letter. USPS wrote CB in the from section (to this day absolutely no idea why) so I had no idea who could be sending me something from Oakland, why it was important, or what it was about. And I had no way to know unless I came down to pick it up. So when I do pick it up and finally realize it's from Kaiser, I'm like okay, perhaps it's something to do with my plan, fine. But no. They'd sent me a letter harassing me to choose a doctor. I literally wasted 15 minutes of my time, and several more driving down here on trash. Lovely. Three stars. read more

WORST customer service was received from a lady: she made a mistake of charging extra on stamps, instead of having the right attitude to solve the problem by looking into the evidence, she was trying to ignore it. She yelled at me, and she told me that she was mad?! Sounds like I was the one causing the problem! I was speechless... Finally, the problem was solved by the manager after A WEEK! This post office means business. It's not the closest USPS for me, but I go here more than others when I really need something sent out toward the end of the day because it's our main branch. The lobby features the new-fangled high-tech postage machine, as well as the lower-tech stamp vending machines. I like that there are options here, so you don't necessarily get stuck waiting in line. read more

Ok remember this place is a US Governmental Agency, so if your looking for 5 star service, you do not have realistic expectations. I have been going here for years, the lines are usually REALLY LOOONG, there is usually a significant wait. If you don't want to have to wait, use the machine outside in the lobby area or print your postage at home and you will spend less time here. Since I am regular there, the service for me has been good, you just have to be patient to get to the front of the line. This place is so busy, that you may not even be able to get a space in the parking lot. My advice, try to come during their non-peak hours. And if your coming during the holidays, be very very patient, your going to be there a while. read more

This is my fav post office because it has a APC (Automated Postal Center) right in the lobby (which is open 24/7)! This means that instead of rushing to make it here after work....I can come anytime I want! And during those off times when I have to ship something thats either international or outside of the demensions allowed by the APC, I find that parking here typically tends not to be an issue. Though the lines do get rather long. read more

Came in here on a Saturday morning which would normally have been a very busy time and they were not crowded, super friendly and very helpful about tracking down my package. Only opportunity is the location is not awesome and also there's a separate line for picking up packages which would be great if it was actually marked instead of waiting in line and then having to then wait in the second line. I am not sure why I am bothering to write this..because it doesn't seem to do any good, given all the one star reviews.... Now that the Foster City post office is closed and being relocated and will not reopen until April....(great planning on someones part) I am forced to go here. I have to go to the post office every day with packages. All different shapes and sizes. I buy my postage on line, so I don't have to wait?? But guess what? I now have to wait longer than ever in line.....just to drop off....Why? because there is no drop off window.... Now you would think they would have a window designated for that...it would keep their line down....but no....All they would have to do is have a window with a bin behind it and a sign? (now there's an idea) So you could leave your packages and if they had to (god forbid) open that window to help some one, they could push the packages in and roll it to an empty window, with a sign...... so easy....I don't get it. Where are those people that were picketing in front of Staples, when staples was accepting packages....Remember? They said they were going loose there jobs to Staples?? And that Staple employees are distrustful and would steal your packages?? (Never, not one) Why don't a few of them (never saw them at any post office) stand in the lobby and take packages from people. This is a special side not to the snide woman that told me to use the bin.....Hey rocket scientist, that bin only takes packages up to 13 ounces.....you might want to brush up on your postal knowledge. I hope that someone, anyone, from the San Mateo Delaware post office reads this.....and does something. They do not answer the phone. I dunno why they can do that. I called a different post office in the area and the person just gave a sigh and said, "Well they're supposed to." Showing up in person wasn't great either. Had the worst usps customer experience with Employee named Boba. Heavy European accent. Twice. First time I had an insurance issue, had to go to post office to file it. She looked at the damage and said i can't get any money for it, it's not the post offices fault. Her coworker tells her, it's not up to them, they just file it and let the insurance people decide. But she kept insisting "it's not that easy to get money". Kept saying if you want me to file it I'll file it but you're not getting any money. I gave up and left and went to another post office. The person there was way more helpful and patient and didn't make any statements about whether or not my insurance claim would go through. Next time I had to go to mail a large item, I saw boba again and I'm like fml. But whatever I'm already here, I ask her how much to ship my item. She takes some measurements and explains it's too large. I ask her what my options are and she just keeps repeating herself. I give up and go to another post office again. The Employee there explains I can't ship the regular way, I have to use more expensive global express method. But it's still possible. Thanks a lot boba. Seriously if you have to do anything more complicated that buying a stamp or dropping off a package, avoid her at all costs. read more

I have always used this branch (with an occasional trip to burlingame, foster city or even the SFO branch) to send my package to my long distance boyfriend in B.C., Canada, with no trouble at all. Few times the employees can be a bit sensitive in the info you put (either they dont like having to type out the content list I wrote out, if it was 6 items, or about the ounces and pounds of the contents), but people have different personalities. I have experienced being helped by this lady that some people here on Yelp have described, always talkative and can be a bit moody at times. yes, i have heard her refer to some customers as "honey" or etc. Re: her mood, I just see it that she can get affected by the busyness of the day, so she gets that way. Unfortunately, my opinion of this branch has changed since July of this year! I bought 2 t-shirts from Amazon and, although it look very long to be sent, it finally was delivered on 07/23/16, BUT NOT TO MY HOUSE!! I gave it a few days, then I marched myself over there to ask about it. i talked to the supervisor, STEVE MARTINEZ, who promised that he'll look into it and personally take care of it (go to the house where the package went to, if they occupants wouldn't give it to the postman upon questioning). He also admitted that the postman did confess he went to a different street to deliver it, when he called the guy. This supervisor said i'll get results by the next day (either the package will be re-delivered or he'll call me re: the issue). HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING NOR DID THE PACKAGE COME TO MY HOME! I go back the next day and i bring my father, (he spoke to the postman and the guy said he wouldn't deliver my box to the wrong house b/c he knows boxes addressed to our names belong to our home. the postman also said he kept going to that home that received my box and they denied getting it). we spoke to STEVE MARTINEZ AGAIN and he said sorry for the issue not being solved and he'll do something, but its better I contact amazon. I do contact amazon and the seller of the products, but the seller said its my issue w/ the post office now! according to the seller, the package was delivered, so its like, "that's your problem, not mine anymore." I CONTACTED THE USPS HOTLINE AND COMPLAINED TO THE CUSTOMER REP. RE: THE ISSUE, SHE SAID SHE'LL FORWARD MY COMPLAINT AND THEY'LL GET BACK TO ME. I didn't hear anything from that STEVE MARTINEZ & ITS ONLY NOW THAT THE USPS EMAILED SAYING THEY GOT MY COMPLAINT AND WILL LOOK INTO IT. THOSE PEOPLE IN THE BRANCH THERE ARE SO CARELESS AND INEFFICIENT, PLUS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE SINCE I HAD TO GO THERE MORE THAN ONCE AND THEY NEVER TRIED TO FIX THE ISSUE!! I DID SENT A PACKAGE A WEEK LATER TO CANADA, BUT I USED THE UPS STORE. I DON'T WANT TO USE MY $ TO PAY FOR SOMETHING IN THE USPS AGAIN!
