This UPS Store is exceptionally well managed. The staff are professional yet genuinely warm -- efficient, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with. The franchise owners (M. et al.) are the real secret sauce behind the operation. Compare that to the company-owned FedEx store on 4th Ave -- considerably larger footprint, almost certainly higher rent -- and you have to wonder how they compete on the retail side of things. Awesome UPS location, super efficient and helpful, not just for my hundreds of free return Amazon packages lol, but also for other services, e.g. shredding and by weight shipping. The owners of the place are professional and friendly. I love when people know what they're doing, when I don't have to wish they'd be supplanted by AI. This is a small-ish location/interior but everything you'd want from a UPS office is here. It's walking distance from my place, thank goodness because free street parking, especially during peak hours, can be difficult. It can also get busy during peak hours--before folks get to work and especially after 5 but before they close. Fyi: unlike some other locations, they do close on Sundays. read more

Needing to get my Passport Photo, coming into the store I was greeted by Sadegh, Zoe and another gentleman. Wasting no time I was able to be in and out. The staff was super fast, efficient, and friendly. They were able to answer certain questions I had. Awesome group of people and very personable. The notary made a typo on a document that ended up costing us an additional $400 in lawyer fees to reprocess the document.

Called because I needed a notary done last minute and the kind gentleman who picked up the phone said he does them and will be at the store until 6pm. No appointment needed which was a godsend being that this came out of the blue and I had to get it done asap. Was taken care of as promised and I went off my merry way! I made an appointment for the notary public. They e mailed me the reminder for the appointment. I went to the store and found out that the notary public personnel was off and not available. Why did they accept appointment when the service is not available? I went to the other UPS store without appointment and completed my task within 30 minutes. read more

This UPS store steals your packages. We ordered computer parts to be delivered and held at a UPS store hoping it would be safer (versus the package sitting outside), but the employees stole over $1k worth of computer parts and when confronted, started lying about where our package was and retroactively begin changing information on our delivery. Their story of what happened to our package also changed, at first it was that the package never arrived. Then it was that this location doesn't store packages. Then it eventually shifted to someone came in with our ID the day prior and took our package (mind you, the timing would have been that the package arrives and someone else impersonated us less than an hour later to pick up our package). Not only that, the employee Mickey claims that they have security video footage that they can send us and guess what, a day afterwards, he emails us that there was a technical issue and that security footage from that day had gone missing. Their actual story that they ended with doesn't make sense either as I'm the sole recipient of the package (my wife had bought the pc parts as a Christmas gift from Newegg). They claimed that a random guy came in and he somehow had my wife's ID and because of that, they gave him the package. Which doesn't make sense as my wife purposefully didn't put herself as the recipient because she knew I would be the one picking up. Avoid this UPS and probably all UPS if you don't want your expensive packages stolen. read more

The UPS store on 2nd Ave in downtown San Mateo is always neat and clean with a staff that is courteous and polite. I have had to ship items, as well as drop off many Amazon return items over the last couple of years. Mickey Pandit and all of the gang at the store greet you and take care of your shipping needs in a professional and efficient manner. I realize that this is a customer service based business, with plenty of options for people to choose as their shipping service, but I prefer this stop as it is efficient and the service provided is a great time saving value. Walked in needed a notary i was shelled right away. Fast Prompt service asked if they notarize walk ins or do I need an appointment. He said come on over here and I can help you. Showed ID paper that needed notarized asked if he can fax the r papers for us. He started To get a line coming in but he tended to all of us so fast and professional. I waited for my fax confirmation as he was assisting others and once the fax confirmation beeped he picked it up rang up my total showed me my pages went through and I paid and was out the door literally maybe 15 minutes if that. I will defiantly come back for any notary I may need or any other shipping packing etc they do so much here read more

Because our wedding needed to be postponed the honey and I decided to get domestic partnership married. Because he hated the idea of a Zoom wedding, and I hated the idea of not dancing at my wedding with my friends. We compromised. Enter in UPS. We needed a notary to sign our paperwork. A friend of mine recommended a bank for free, but they actually refused to sign the direct paperwork and would only add in a loose certificate. So we paid the $30 (and by we I mean the honey) to have the physical documents signed at UPS. The space itself had an outside queue and indoors the associates were really wonderful about keeping people apart. I also appreciated how friendly they were during such stressful times. I kind of feel like most UPS stores are the same in terms of packing, shipping, printing, etc. I could be wrong. Never-the-less, one of the most important aspects I've come to appreciate, is customer service. This UPS Store gets an A+ in my book based on my interaction with Sadegh and the owner. I had to send a package, then printed some docs from a USB and scanned those docs back to my UBS after some modifications. Both gentlemen were extremely patient, friendly, and helpful. Great store. Great service. The associate that works the front counter when I stop in, is always so nice. Everyone there is really. My boxes are usually delivered here so I have to pickup often. They'll hold your boxes if you are on vaca- just give them a call or send them an email. The associate is also a notary. read more

So, I decided to procrastinate and ended up needed to ship out a couple of packages five days before Christmas. UGH. I basically don't trust the USPS, so I Yelped the nearest UPS Store and found this location. It was a Monday night, and Downtown San Mateo was hoppin' like a disco. I circled around for nearly 10 minutes until I found street parking about two blocks away. As I was walking up, I saw the UPS delivery driver taking packages to the truck, and I thought I'd miss out. I was expecting the worst upon entering the store, but thankfully I was the only customer in need of shipping services. The clerk was kind, got my packages, and asked me what I needed. I had to ship my goddaughter's gifts to Mississippi and a friend's birthday/Christmas gift to Lodi. Unfortunately, it cost my $66 to ship the items to Mississippi, but that's my fault for procrastinating. I was quoted $9 to send things to Lodi. The transaction was quick and painless, and the UPS guy actually made another run through the store, and took my packages with him! My friend got her birthday gift the next day (Tuesday); I was so surprised because I was told it would be there AFTER Christmas. My goddaughter's gift arrived today (Thursday) one day earlier than expected. Parking is rough, prices are a bit expensive, so know before you go. read more

Ami and Sadegh are both so friendly and customer service driven, they really make this place a pleasure to deal with. I've been renting a mailbox here for a couple of years (they can receive your packages for you which means less theft off the front porch.) While it's pricier than USPS, the level of service they offer makes the pricing average out on the low end. I came here to ship some packages back to some vendors. The service was good The traffic sucked. The parking situation sucked. Using their boxes is a rip-off. I got charged $15 for one large box!! I've used this UPS location several times and every time I come back - the service gets better and better! The nice gentleman who works here even said "it's nice to see you back!" My recent visit here was for notary because my "banks" told me -- "only bank documents" can be notarized. I love Amazon, but sometimes things just don't work out and it's time to make a return. This UPS store makes it really easy!! Typically there isn't a line, I drop it off, they hand me a receipt, by the time I get home, Amazon has already started the return process as received! There packaging materials are a bit on the pricey side, so I try to reuse what I already have, but when in a pinch, they will have what you need. Service has always been really friendly here and that is why I return again and again. They also have a notary on staff, which has been very helpful for the few times I have actually needed one. Parking can be tough as this is downtown, but if you go before lunchtime, it is usually no problem!!! read more

I went to two UPS stores to get boxing and shipping of a musical instrument. I went to two stores. One did not have a box that would fit even though people ship these all the time, and I was told before going there that they had a box that would work. The rep said they might have to construct it from two boxes. The second UPS store may have had a box, but the rep said I would have to come back several hours later. Apparently only the manager is competent at packaging. Finally, I went to FedEx. They not only had the right size box, and did a great job at packing it, their cost was actually less than UPS. read more

OPENS AT 10AM ON SATURDAY EVEN THOUGH SIGN SAYS 9AM. I sat in my car and watched customer after customer come by with their packages, look at their watch, wait around and left puzzled or frustrated after a while. Told the employee who finally opened the doors about the 9am start time and he said,"Really? This location always opens at 10am on Saturdays." I told him they should fix the sign in the window that said 9am and also the Yelp listing, and he mumbled something but didn't acknowledge what I said. He never bothered to verify that the sign was wrong (he can't see it from the counter). I'll increase my rating once this signage and Yelp time listing issue is fixed but for now, you get a three star for making me (and others) wait half an hour for you to open. read more
