The Japchae was fantastic -- it had so much flavor and a ton of veggies in it as well. I'm a huge fan of Bossam generally, but theirs didn't quite do it for me. It didn't taste very fresh and I thought it was just a little soggy. They also cut it thick, which I don't think helped much. Not the best thing on the menu for sure, so I'd probably skip this next time. But the good news is, there's a ton more options to choose from here that are probably better. The stars of the show were definitely the meats. Beef bulgogi was so soft and well marinated! The short ribs were not too tough and the meat glided right off as you eat it. YUMMY! As for the seafood pancake, i would say it could be a bit more crispier but the sauce that came with it was good and filled with seafood. For the kimchi fried rice, it was a bit below average as the rice seemed overcooked. Their banchan was really good by the way! We came on a Saturday afternoon and luckily it wasn't packed. Soooo fricking good. Came here after a night out with a friend and got a half and half order of korean fried chicken, corn cheese, and creamy tteokbokki. Everything was a 10/10 to be honest, but my favourite was probably the tteokbokki because of the added bacon (was basically like a carbonara). I know they're not specifically a korean fried chicken place, but I would have loved to see other flavour options like snow onion or seaweed. Our server was really quick and helpful and the food was served in a reasonable amount of time as well. Seafood Scallion Pancake: 5/5 The seafood pancake was my favorite part of the meal. It also comes with sauce to dip in, but I really loved the crunch and texture that it had. It's also a great dish for sharing bc it's cut into pieces already. Definitely recommend! Kimchi Fried Rice w/ pork: 4/5 A little spicier than the kimchi fried rice that I'm used to, but still good overall! Each wing was enormous and packed with meat. The chicken was so juicy and especially flavorful with the thick soy garlic sauce glaze. Every bite was delicious! Fun Korean pocha spot for hearty pub eats and vibrant ambiance! There isn't too much of a wait if you don't come on a Friday or Saturday night; our group of 8 was able to walk in and grab a table easily on a Sunday evening. Service is quick and friendly! The army stew is a bit spicy, but hearty with how much is packed in there. I recommend turning the heat down after the first serving, so that the stew doesn't dry up into the bottom of the pan. The dipping sauce is soy sauce based, and a little salty. The inside is super spacious/plenty of tables. We came around 7pm and had no wait! We ordered the kimchi/beef/tofu stir fry and the seafood pancakes. The stir fry was good but I wish there was more beef. Kimchi was flavorful and spicy, super yummy. We also had kimchi on the included bonchon (also standard w/ cucumbers, seaweed, sprouts, etc). Tofu was cooked well, def firm tofu but not extra firm. My fave was the seafood pancakes! So so savory and fresh. The sauce they give pairs great (it is salty so a little does a long way). Service was fast and staff was friendly. They also leave a water pitcher at the table and I personally love that because salty food like some Korean dishes make me thirsty! The ambience of the place is so fun. They have K-pop music videos playing all the wall, mood lighting, string lights, etc. definitely a place that takes you away from sf for awhile. Overall solid wings with hefty amounts of meat for each piece. Seafood Scallion Pancake - a classic, light and fluffy pancake with scallions and other assorted vegetables. On each piece are shrimp and squid as well. Flavorful enough to eat without sauce but the sauce does enhance it for sure. However, not too atypical of a seafood pancake from anywhere else. I like to eat in between lunch and dinner (between 3:30 - 4:30) and most of the restaurants in San Francisco closed between that time. But this place is a good all day eating place. I ordered Soon Do Bo (Korean tofu soup with beef). It came with a bowl of rice and 6 different of tiny banchans. The rice was dry and the banchans were very basic and mediocre.
