The place was honestly just okay. I got the pork bone broth and that was pretty flavorful. They do have cucumbers in there for those that have cucumber allergy. The first round of snow beef was really tender and delicious. The second round wasn't as good as the first one. The menu is a QR code that you scan on your phone. However the booth is very cramped and it sucks that you have to keep standing up if you have more than 2 in 1 booth. The sashimi and oysters are fresh but not amazing. With the price point of $75 bucks per person and the average service (no one offered dessert; water with no ice), I would rather spend the money at Haidilao. I've been accustomed to AYCE joints where they took a bit to bring out the ordered item. So as I was seated, I placed an order for a big handful and boy the items were being fired out of kitchen like a machine gun. So for those who haven't been there - rest assured and order with moderation because you will run out of table space. Within 10 minutes of being seated all of the stuff I ordered arrived at the table and I had to temporarily park some dishes on the seats. 2) The waitstaff are super friendly and proficient. As soon as call button was pressed someone appeared almost instantly and tables were constantly checked to clear out empty dishes. 3) The food items were super fresh. Shucked oysters, sashimi and LIVE shrimps on skewers were all great. The restaurant is lined with booth rooms so each party has their own space. For $48.80 per adult, there is a wide variety of options. You get all the typical hot pot fixings as well as sashimi and some appetizers. We ordered marinated cucumbers, fried crispy pork, raw oysters, and a sashimi platter. The marinated cucumbers were bright and acidic, I couldn't stop eating them! The standouts on the sashimi platter were the sweet shrimp and scallops. The oysters were very fresh and I would come back just for these. For hotpot we ordered the wintermelon seafood soup and tomato soup. Our favorite add ins were the shrimp paste, live shrimp, fatty beef, and wide noodles. Blue crabs, prawns, clams and mussels were also offered included in the price! They have SO MUCH fresh seafood no other ayce spot will give you and that's on top of all the general hot pot meats, veggies and noodles. If you can really eat and like seafood, the all-you-can-eat is really worth it. However, like most all-you-can-eat places, everything is mediocre. The pork bone broth base didn't have much flavor, the seafood was frozen solid, and even though the oysters and shrimp cocktail were fresh, they're cocktail sauce was gross. Such a small detail, but it would make those items delicious. Why not put a little more love into the small details and the meal could be great instead of mediocre? The sashimi was uneven, the salmon, tuna, and scallops were delicious but the hamachi wasn't fresh and the sweet shrimp were frozen solid when it was served to us. The seating is comfortable as each booth is separated for privacy. I guess you can close the door if you want to, but we didn't. Our server was polite except when we reached our time limit and he started rushing us out (which is fair) but I can't help feeling slightly annoyed. It was empty when we arrived, but it did fill up when we were finishing. I really enjoyed the carp, fresh mushrooms, and veggies but the best part of the meal was the complimentary grade A Wagyu beef that was offered if we send an invite for the restaurant on WeChat. That meat was like butter. Such a shame to drop it in the hot pot. I wish we had a grill or skillet to get that sear, that would've put it over the top. As a group of 4, the wait was not long with a reservation and we were put into a private room with a table that comfortably fit 4. They even roll the sauce cart over to your room to make your sauce without having to wait on line! The food selection for an AYCE hotpot is great in my opinion. My favorite options were the shrimp paste and snowflake beef. Everything else was good and the seafood selection is better than most AYCE hotpot restaurants. At first I was hesitant about the sashimi, but they were good for AYCE. As a small group, I really enjoyed my experience and the food. As a big group for a birthday, I did have a different experience. This is where the downhill started. Once we placed our initial order, the staff were not to be seen. Once we placed our second order, 60% of our meat did not come. For example, we ordered 4 plates of beef and only 1 plate of 6 slices of beef came. We placed 4 orders of the snow crab leg, and only 3 legs came! 3!! Despite having ayce hotpot AND sashimi I was pretty disappointed with my time here for dinner. While it's super cool to get your own little private "cubby" for dinner, it sadly didn't make up for the lack of attentive service. We ordered our first round of sashimi and hotpot items and while our server was there for the initial order, we ended up never receiving a third of our items. We even tried to flag down other servers who said they'd get back to us, but never did. At the end of it we just accepted we wouldn't get what we ordered and had to even flag a different server to get our bill. So when we first arrived, we asked for appetizer for one of each so we can try them all. They have maybe around 8/9 appetizer dishes total, the server told us we shouldn't order this much and won't allow us order 8 or 9 appetizers for a party of 14 people. This is ridiculous as this is buffet and we are a group of 14 people. I am sure we can finish 8/9 small plates of appetizers. Please note we are not sharing any pot, everyone had their own individual hotpot. So sharing 5 skimmers for a party of 14 with individual pot is just not going to work.I am not sure what kind of hotpot place runs out of skimmer. It's basic requirement to have utensils in order for a restaurant to stay in operation. Asking customers to share skimmer is not only inconvenient, also not hygiene. Throughout the whole dinner, our server didn't check in on us once. We had to refill our own water cups, refilled our own hotpot soup, cleaned our own plates, got new plates on our own, we even we had to bring tray of food to our table since they just left them at the entrance. But 37 Alley prides themselves on their seafood forward menu, which is a great diversity and breadth of cooked and raw seafood. When it's cold outside and you're craving a warm filling soup with spicy Sichuan mala, you also get the bright and tender sashimi, geoduck, Australian lobster, oysters, live prawns, king crab, crab legs, mussels, clams, scallops, etc. The seafood feels fresh and light and the sashimi was tender. It offers great diversity to the typical hot pot experience. On the hot pot side, 37 Alley has all the typical menu items, like fish balls, beef, pork, etc. The sauce bar is carted individually to each semi-private room, with the typical sauce bar accoutrements. Service was unfortunately lacking and it was near impossible to get anyone's attention for help. We ordered certain items and items would often never arrive since service would just forget. DON'T WALK, RUN HERE! literally the best dining experience I've had so far in NYC this year. The all you can eat is so worth it if you've come belly empty, and the best part is you order on a tablet, and don't have to be annoying and flag down staff (which is great if you're an introvert like myself). They have your own sauce bar where you can customize your sauce. We would like to come back due to the nice food selection.
