I was surprised by a few dear friends for one of my birthday dinners here. They were so kind and gracious to treat me. We had a great, GREAT server named Maggie Chen, whose name I am mentioning here due to the fact she was able to set us up with a free desert for a kind (and fair!) review. So here is my (updated) review: - The rolls we ordered were tasty and fresh. (For me, the Rapunzel Roll SLAPS. I ordered the same one - unknowingly - both times I have been here!) - We shared the Wagyu dumplings and the Shrimp shumai and they were honestly SOOOO GOOD. Finger-licking good!! - We also shared then chicken lo mein - also delicious and a big portion (there were some leftovers) - The staff is always kind and very friendly. Again, Maggie was really sweet, accommodating, took pictures for us and of course helped sing the HBD song which never not embarrasses me ever. darn. time. The ambiance is also always very chill, but a hit higher scale, with its beautifully colored mosaic-like rounded booths and a big, full bar, too. Knowing Mito is so good now and so close to my house can be a bit of a problem. I may become a regular but I guess that'd be a good thing for the business, HA. I had the best girls night at this Sushi spot in Forest Hills. Tucked away in Queens, you'll find all of your favorite classics right here. For starters we had to get Edamame and Calamari which was a little soft for my tasting but was still pretty good. For our mains, Chicken Teriyaki and of course so many selections of Sushi Rolls to choose from. Dessert and drinks were (Cherry Blossom Cocktail will for sure pack a punch) delicious and our server was so nice! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new sushi spot :)!!! read more

Since the change in ownership, the quality of both the food and service has noticeably declined. During my recent visit, I ordered from the three-course lunch menu and specifically requested a steak cooked medium well with fried rice. Instead, I was served a cheeseburger with french fries, which was completely different from what I ordered. When I brought this to the staff's attention, the response was dismissive and argumentative, rather than focused on resolving the issue. Rather than escalate the situation, I chose to leave. Although I had already paid, I did not feel comfortable staying or continuing the conversation. This was especially disappointing because I have been a loyal customer for years, long before the new ownership. I used to visit frequently, and even now, I go out of my way, often 40 minutes, to come here when I am in Queens dropping off my kids. As someone who does not eat cheeseburgers, receiving that order was both frustrating and avoidable with basic attention to detail. I truly hope the new management takes steps to improve both service and communication moving forward. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning. Ordered for delivery. Well packaged. The Kani Salad on the dryer side (barely any sauce), but had lots of fresh cucumbers and imitation crab. It could definitely use more sauce, since I mostly just taste the imitation crab. The Rock Shrimp was also light on sauce, but the batter holds up. Shrimp is cooked well. It came with a side of plain salad, which makes it feel even dryer. Maybe get some ginger dressing on the side. The Pork and Chicken Gyoza (Steamed) doesn't travel that well. I image it would be better fresh, as the wrapper is thin. Good porky filling. The Any 3 Maki Roll combo was a good deal. The maki rolls do not have too much rice, which I like, though the rice is a bit chewy as it does not have much vinegar. Feels more like regular rice than sushi rice. The seafood is fresh and decent quality. I went with Tuna, Salmon, and Shrimp Avocado (which was more avocado than shrimp). Overall a little pricey for what you get, and the food was on the blander side. I'd rather get my sushi elsewhere. read more

Nice setting and good food. Nicely decorated dining room in an open space. Interesting decor made for lots of looking around. Service wasn't amazing but it was good. Everyone was friendly and responsive when we asked. Food was very good. Tartare three ways was excellent, one of my favorite dishes in a while. And it is a unique way of presenting tartare. Sushi four ways: salmon was another interesting and great dish. Nice to have four different preparations of my preferred fish instead of some I like and some I don't. For dessert the warm chocolate cake was nice, very rich and tasty, but dessert is t the strongest dishes here. read more

I got the fried rice with the tuna tartar and truffle. It was yummy, with a very subtle truffle scent. The rice balls were significantly larger than the amount of tuna on top. With that said, it was still delicious. The Mongolian beef was only slightly better than that you would get at a fat food Chinese store... so don't be like me, order something that makes more sense. The fried red snapper was surpassing as it was many filets of fish. They were well cooked, but overpowered by the sauce, which was just okay. The millet had citrus in it, so i personally wasn't a fan. The lava cake was good. The meal also came with a glass of house wine. We really enjoyed our dinner at Mito. The staff greeted us immediately when we arrived and our waitress was quite attentive, which we appreciated. The vibe and atmosphere was great for a date night, special occasion or a family dinner. The drinks were very tasty. I had a coconut cocktail (I can't remember the name), which was DELICIOUS!! Regarding food we had the following things: rock shrimp tempura, petit filet mignon, black diamond roll with foie gras, bluefin tuna crudo, black truffle wagyu fried rice, scallop truffle canapes, miso sea bass in pumpkin puree and green tea crepe cake for dessert. We especially loved the petit filet mignon, black diamond roll with foie gras, and bluefin tuna crudo. The reason I dropped a star in my rating is due to a couple of the plates were slightly disappointing. We did not think the pumpkin puree went well with the miso sea bass. We would've preferred the dish without the puree. We thought the wagyu fried rice was a little lackluster. And, I've had better green tea crepe cakes elsewhere. This cake was a little denser than I expected. In any case, we really enjoyed our experience overall and plan to come back to try out more of Mito's menu. read more

it has been a while since I came here and I did not remember what I loved about the place. So, I just ordered with my heart and I wound up ordering the same things. I ordered six years ago when I used to come here all the time with an ex boyfriend. We got the lobster guacamole with scallion pancake as an appetizer. We also ordered a side of chips to go with it. This is such a delicious thing. It's worth a trip to this restaurant just for this appetizer. I was driving and my friend ordered a drink. I took one sip of it just to see what it tasted like. It was so yummy. It was their version of an old-fashioned. A buttery old-fashioned. We ordered three rolls to share. We got a yellow tail scallion roll, a mango Hawaii roll and another roll that I forgot the title of, but it says something about the number four. Everything was really delicious. We really loved loved loved that mango Hawaii roll. Simple perfection. I will definitely be coming back real soon. The place is beautiful and the staff is excellent. Our waitress Maggie was perfect. I've been past this place several times & finally decided to give it a try. First time around , Drinks I had a Lychee Martini, hubby a Coconut saketini both very good nice & strong. We started with the Scallion pancakes they were so good we also had a Mito roll this was great. Main meal we tried Petite filet & the Mongolian chicken , both very good nice tasting steak as well as the chicken good tasting sauce. Let me start off by saying the decor in this place is beautiful. Very clean and pretty. The food was also really really good! We ordered the fried calamari to start. This was my least favorite dish only because the calamari were alittle soft/soggy. We ordered the volcano rolls, and shrimp that was battered in a mango sauce. That was delicious! For entrees we got the hibachi steak, and regular steak. It was amazing! The flavor was SO good. We also ordered lo mein which was delicious as well. I went base on the great reviews of the place the food was ok , what ever I had I can get at any sushi place in my neighborhood .the staff was very unprofessional , the hostess was giving herself physical therapy treatment right in front of me like she was in the park with sweatpants on . I've been to Mito several times this past year and I've frequently ordered their catering. Great for birthdays and any special event. My kids absolutely love it. The staff is very friendly and professional and it is apparent that they certainly take great pride in their excellent customer service. You can be sure to feel welcomed as soon as you step through the door. I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality of the menu, drinks and appetizers. The inside is very chic and modern, great for dates and meet ups, the sushi bar has glass panels so you can easily see the chefs prepare your rolls. Definitely a great experience, the one downside is that it's a bit overpriced compared to other sushi restaurants, however they make up for it with quality and diversity of menu. Having mito today for a birthday dinner was a mistake. The large tuna order tasted like rubber and was stale. The speciality roll has a sweet/dessert mango puree instead of fresh mango. It was essentially sushi dessert. Unappealing flavors and messy. Every single dish was a miss. We have been wanting to try this place since it opened years ago. Got the chance when we wanted to celebrate our marriage anniversary and it was fantastic. Great service, wonderful vibes and atmosphere, and comfortable seating. The lunch specials are good. The sushi bento box is worth it, considering one special roll can be the price of the entire lunch special. The regular lunch special is also a good deal. Our order came with a giant miso soup. The stir fry chicken udon noodle had great flavor and it was a good portion. Reasonable prices for the fancy environment. The dessert spoons are so giant and cute. Really fun to use when we ordered the creme brulee. For this dessert, we liked the crunch on top but it's not the type of crunchy where you need to jackhammer your way into it. Velvety texture once you crack the top. Really delicious! Mochi ice cream is standard. Obviously always easier to buy a box at the grocery store but with the kids here, sure why not? Ordered from here once, then went for the happy hour with a big group. Great deal overall. The menu was actually pretty good including soup dumplings, various sushi rolls, other cooked items. It had reduced price beers, wine as well as cocktails, very difficult to beat The location itself is pretty nice. It looks like it doesn't even belong where it's located with all the old shops but it's a welcome addition to that strip on 108th. Our servers "Mark" and Suki did a good job of keeping us fed, informing about dishes and drinks etc. It was a group of 8 of us and they kept things moving Drinks were really good I had the cucumber smash. Food wise the rock shrimp was crazy good, fried rice excellent etc. Honestly I don't think we had anything that wasn't great. Maybe the spring rolls you can pass on.
