Went for dinner with my friends to Nikko. We usually choose to sit on the right side of the restaurant where the booths are instead of the left side with the hibachi grill tables. We were here just for the food and not the whole hibachi experience, although the other side of the restaurant did sound very fun and lively. We were seated pretty quickly upon arrival on a Saturday evening. Menus are available via QR code on the tables and a physical drink menu is given to you. There's plenty of appetizer, sushi, and hibachi entree options. My friends and I shared the salt and pepper soft shelled crab, fried chicken wings, and lobster rock and roll--which were all tasty and quickly devoured. I got the hibachi combination dinner with shrimp and scallops. All the hibachi entrees come with soup, salad, mixed veggies, fried rice, 2 pieces of shrimp, and the most yummy dipping sauce. I like the clear soup with some mushroom that comes with the meal. The salad is lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers with a generous amount of the tasty salad dressing. The shrimp and scallops were a little overcooked, but still very tasty. The veggies consisted mostly of broccoli with a smattering of carrots and mushrooms. The fried rice is pretty delicious and buttery with bits of eggs. My friends who ordered the filet mignon as their protein choice said that it a little overcooked from their choice of medium rare, but still tender and tasty. The server was friendly and took our orders quickly. Someone came by to offer a refill on my hot green tea, and plates were cleared off regularly. This is a solid hibachi spot and we will surely be back. read more

To start, they went from a disgustingly putrid smelling restaurant with a "C" rating to now an "A" rating but with unclean food surfaces. I guess that's an improvement. The problem is that if they ask you how everything was and you tell them something was not quite what you asked for all they do is pat you on the shoulder and call you honey while they ask for payment from you. So insincere. No I'm sorry or offer to lower the bill. Just a persistent grin from the server who perhaps doesn't understand that this would deter people from returning. read more

We had a long day and walked in for hibachi. The atmosphere was lively, many people here for Hibachi birthday parties, chefs doing utensil shows on the grill, squeezing water or sake for guests to catch! The portions were generous and food was delicious. We ordered Kani salad and vegetables tempura, both good! For Hibachi, the 3 of us ordered different proteins, and Chef Eric gave each of us some of each protein: chicken, steak, and scallops. Green tea hit the spot to balance out the food. read more

This is my cousins go to hibachi spot so she Invited me to stop by for a quick bite. We didn't do the cooking station this time- we ate at the regular dining area. She had the shrimp and scallop hibachi entree with fried rice. I have to say that in some places the hibachi in the dine in section doesn't have that hibachi flavor but you it did here . It had that firey Smokey taste as if it they brought it fresh off the other side. I had the pink starburst which was amazing. It's like a lychee martini but pink. Really good. Craving hibachi, a group of us made a reservation and came for a hibachi experience. The hibachi performance were very energetic and lively making for a really fun dinner from the youngest to the oldest. The stunt with the sake gun where sake (or the non alcoholic kind) is sprayed into your mouth is a little intimidating. Make sure to firmly say no if you don't want to partake... We mixed and matched a few of the combo hibachi which turned out to be great because our party had a few people who didn't come as hungry. Food wise, the scallop was my personal favorite of the hibachi. The food was cooked a little bit on the saltier side, but still had good flavor - especially paired with their sauces. We also ordered some rolls and appetizers - the rolls were alright, but the soft shell crab definitely hit the spot. I never knew about this place. My sister and I wanted to go for a walk at Cunningham Park but wanted to grab food first. We stumbled upon this place. It's a nice size restaurant. One side is regular booths and a bar and the other side has the hibachi tables. The service was good. Everyone worked as a team making sure our waters were full and finished dishes were collected. My sister and I ordered pork gyoza for our appetizer which was so good. I never had it before and really liked it. The chicken lo mein was phenomenal. We both got hibachi for our entrees. Everything was delicious. We had to get dessert! The fried ice cream had an after taste which we didn't really care for but we finished it. My sister got an Angry Orchard for her drink. This place really gained in popularity recently. It was packed when we went for our friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We had reservations and waited about 5-10 minutes for our table to be ready which is fine. The food is ok- nothing special and came out fairly quickly. I noticed that the add tip/service charge to ALL the bills. Not sure I am fond if this idea as a tip is optional for service provided. This alone puts me off to potentially going back. It is also a good place to host a party as there was another table I saw that had a party and the restaurant was accommodating. Another Friday night new restaurant adventure! You have a choice between one side is Hibachi or the middle which is what we chose it's all cozy booths! There is also a bar area with sports but it doesn't interfere with the ambience of the other areas. So we started with Sauvignon blanc wine and Stella Artois beer, kiddo had a strawberry Japenese soda. Soup was mini wonton soup which was delish! Main courses were tender short ribs everyone loved! Lobster bites, fried rice , But our favorite was Black & Pink tempura sushi which was crunchy & amazing ! We had fried ice cream, and tiramisu for dessert also very good. I had a very disappointing experience at Nikko Hibachi - Fresh Meadows on Friday, July 18th around 9:50 PM. The food tasted terrible, and both my husband and I felt sick afterward. The service was just as bad--slow, disorganized, and completely inattentive. It was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. What makes this even more upsetting is that this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We used to go 3 to 4 times a month. But after what happened, we won't be returning. I didn't end up eating here. I had originally planned to, but once I arrived and saw the B letter grade posted I decided to go elsewhere. For me, cleanliness and food safety are non-negotiables. While I can't comment on the food or service, the B grade affected my trust in the restaurant's standards. My favorite hibachi place ever!!!!! I go at least twice a month & am basically a regular. The food is the best hibachi you can get in nyc. If you are on a budget I recommend going in the afternoon for the lunch special the food is almost half the price for just a slightly smaller portion. Note that tip is included in the bill which shouldn't matter because the service is so good you're going to end up tipping anyway. If you haven't tried the chicken wings here you need too! I always get my tried and true filet mignon hibachi with wings as an appetizer and fried Oreos for dessert. It's very calm on the booth side which is where I like to sit but the hibachi show is always fun as well. 10/10 I recommend this spot to everyone I know. read more

I've been here a few times as well as ordered online. My experience yesterday wasn't the best food wise. Might've been because the hibachi chef rushed the food and the shrimp was not cleaned well. Service was decent to say the least. The manager took money off the bill but did it really matter if taxes and gratuity is included? No. Food - Drinks were good. Got scallop hibachi dinner (extra lemon of course), edamame (literally the best off their appetizer), & Black'n'pink sushi (yum! recommend every time). I've been coming here for literally 7/8 years consistently since they opened and I have never once experienced what I am about to write so here it is... After not going out to eat for a while with my mother I wanted to take her somewhere she would enjoy and we could spend time this is usually where we come her and my daughter like it very much I really wanted to take her somewhere else but she wanted to come here. When we arrived it was the same as always we were seated at a hibachi table with three other ladies. We put our order in and we're ready to eat! We ordered our usual app shrimp shomai which took a few minutes to come but my rocky shrimp took over 15 minutes. I ordered a drink it took over 15 minutes also! The chef this night was horrible! He burnt the eggs that go in the rice. He didn't make the rice correctly, he gave me a child's portion and didn't give my daughter chicken at all they literally had to bring another piece of chicken for him to took. He was actually piling food on the other women's plates and we all got scraps basically. When I complained to the owner he told him to give me more veggies he have me 3 more pieces. The server was just as bad she was rushing us and had nerve to put 20% grat. On my bill did she deserve this NO! Where do I begin with my review. To start, I want to state all the positive in my experience before we dive into the negative. As a start, I was happy there is parking out in the back, I was accommodated with seating quickly without a reservation. The restaurant ambiance was relaxed. The hibachi experience was great; hibachi chef put on a show that made us laugh and feel better after all. Most importantly we were there to celebrate my sons 5th grade graduation. Now, let's dive my family and I arrived to NIKKO around 12pm. Restaurant opens at 1130am but working in the service industry myself know that although we say we are open at 1130 we are not ready until 12pm. Upon entering the establishment, we were asked if we wanted regular seating or Hibachi lunch- I misunderstood what I was asked and quickly replied regular. My husband upon sitting asked the host if the hibachi area was available, the host immediately jumped out annoyed and said I asked you guys hibachi or regular. My fault is that I understood "bachelorette or regular". Please spare me grace, yesterday it was 100 degrees in NYC, and I was hot and dehydrated. We are promptly seated at the Hibachi area; there was another family who arrived minutes before we did. Mentally, I prepared myself that there was going to be wait before a server came over. But let me tell you that we were sitting at our table for 20 mins, probably more, being generous before we were greeted. I want to emphasize here again that I work in the hospitality and we go out to eat pretty often and have picked up on terrible experience before it begins. My husband said to my brother and son out loud that he already knows what experience we are about to encounter so make sure that we order everything we may need. The server immediately jumped in to take our orders, we placed our drinks, apps, food extra bottle water because they don't offer you anything that you are not paying for. My husband is asking the server that he is interested in the Japanese Saki, my husband can't pronounce the name of it but he is pointing at what he wants. To confirm my husband asked the server for the pronunciation of the saki. The menus are sheets of paper stuffed in a menu case that does not fit so everything looks stuff in. The server aggressively replied " I, don't know I am not Japanese". As a server you are supposed to know pronunciation, what goes in every dish if there is allergies or whatever upsell too. Hello, we do not need to be a certain race to know certain things but if I am working in an Italian restaurant I should know how to pronounce and describe what's in the menu. My husband, to avoid any further back and forth just pointed at it and told her that is what he wants. I ordered a lychee martini. I noticed that the food came out quick our apps, main dishes. The chef made the rice; veggies and mid-way through I noticed that my Lychee Martini had not come out. We had placed this a while ago so I called the server over and asked about my Lychee Martini. She did reply that she would check with the bartender, okay. Continuing with my meal, now I am finishing up the main course and I was hot, parched and drank my husband's soda at this point I asked her again where my martini is she aggressively said I do not know and walked away. I loudly got upset and said how the F you are upset at me if I am nearly done eating. A minute later the server appears with my drink. She tried to walk off quick, so I called her back and asked what the status of my husband drink was, the Saki. Her reply was oh- I do not know. My husband is not trying to ruin lunch very kindly and said I do not want it anymore. The check comes we are a party of 4 and bam automatic gratuity for such a shitty as service. We paid for the shitty service which thinking back I should have said to remove. So please be aware the service sucks and remember to tip your hibachi chef. He will ask if everything is okay three times after cleaning the stove, but I did not mind tipping him the cash he was great. read more

A to go place in our neighborhood. Parking can be a problem but with patience, you find a spot off union turnpike. This place is lively with younger folks both at the bar as well at each hibachi table. We tend to sit at the booths adjacent to that spot. The service is always great! We found our amazing drinks to be so good. The appetizers were also amazing. My wife had lobster and crab sushi. I had the Peking duck. We were very pleased with our entrees. The only negative thing was that they seem to now add an 18% tip to your bill and give you the opportunity to provide more! Tell you what... I'm so glad I came here. Our daughter is celebrating her bday with a couple of good friends, and we suggested she take them for Hibachi. We found this place on Yelp, of course. Looking over the photos here, my wife and I decided that the stuff looked so good, we wanted to come too, though we're sitting at another table (in the dining room at a booth, while the girls are at a Hibachi). I had a salad with Carrot ginger dressing... it was iceberg lettuce with some cucumbers and a couple of sliced cherry tomatoes... the dressing was nothing special. My wife got the Spicy Garlic Edamame and it was her favorite edamame of all time. I liked it... it's kind of buttery with a garlic kick... not too spicy, just right. I really liked the miso soup. It's not your average miso because they add a LOT of seaweed, scallion, and tofu. It's a chunky soup, and the seaweed is a little crunchy! I dig it. I got the yellowtail serrano... but I asked them to do half yellowtail and half salmon. They changed an extra $3 for that... That's ok. Let me tell you... the sauce in that thing is the ultimate, and the fish is thinly sliced and so soft. That was my favorite thing by far. I followed it up with some Rock Shrimp, which was pretty good. I couldn't help but slather it up in the Yellowtail Serrano sauce! Wife got some kind of weird special sushi roll with shrimp tempura and Crab and mango... not bad! They charge 18% gratuity to everyone. I wanted to give more because we had them sing happy birthday to my daughter... they brought over some kind of drum... it was cute. But I didn't see a choice to be able to tip the wait staff more. The dining area is split. One side for hibachi and other for casual dining. Limited seating due to Covid restrictions. No temperature checks or contact tracing is required to dine in, or at least we weren't asked to. We all need to very patient and understanding during these days as service was extremely slow and basic items like water and menus had to be flagged down, but the staff was extremely polite. We had the sushi and sashimi as our main entrees. The fish was ok but I felt the amount of sashimi was on the skimpy side when it came towards the tuna and salmon as the assortment of fish was limited. Don't get me wrong I received the correct number of pieces per order, I just felt the pieces were on the smaller side. We also had the duck roll and a miso soup. The duck roll was pretty good with slices of duck, cucumber,mint, lettuce and avocado wrapped in a thin scallion pancake that was a little on the oily side. The miso soup was light in terms of the amount of miso added to the bowl, so it leaned towards being a little bland. They also serve Thai and Chinese inspired dishes as Niikko is a fusion of sorts. The hibachi looks like alot of fun and I plan on booking a reservation next time to try it out. read more

The food was super filling and for a good price, however it was super salty. After adding their sauce they give, it masks the saltiness. I think the hibachi performance depends on both the performer but also the customer. Unfortunately my performance was not the best and we could see a few tables down how good the other performer was. Nonetheless, it is not entirely the performers fault. After our performance however, we were rushed to leave. Everyone at the table still had at least half their plate left and they came asking us if we wanted to go boxes. This was around 5 minutes after the performer left (after he cleaned his station up). Came here for late lunch (2pm) as a party of three on a Saturday. It was very empty as the dinner rush hadn't come yet and they just opened about an hour before. The servers/hosts were very courteous and there were even Drink specials (summer smoothies). We had mango, strawberry and passion fruit. For appetizers we had the deep fried crab cakes, rocky shrimp, and shrimp tempura. Probably wouldn't get the rocky shrimp again, it reminds me of a lower quality version of bang bang shrimp. Nonetheless the others were spot on. For our entrees we had shrimp hibachi, salmon hibachi, and chicken/shrimp hibachi. All were cooked to perfection. the only reason I'm going to give it 2 stars is because when I went home and air fryed my rock shrimp it tasted better when it's not soggy. I love hibachi food and I was suggested Nikko's. For the price of their food ( mind you I also ordered this off doordash) you would expect it to be better . The sushi is actually good tho! I got steak and chicken entree with noodles and fried rice . The rice was nasty. At first I was like whatever because I wanted noodles anyway, but those really werent that Better. The chicken is rubbery. Maybe it is over cooked? Bc once you heat it up it's tougher to chew. The steak was eh. The veggies weren't seasoned and nasty as well. While the environment is decent -- it can get loud during Happy Hour -- the food is uneven in quality and execution. Dishes We've Had: - Rainbow Roll: OK, but we've had better sashimi pieces at some all-you-can-eat restaurants. - Salmon and Avocado Roll: Somehow the salmon in this basic roll was better than the salmon in the premium Rainbow Roll. - Kani Salad: could use a higher kani-to-cucumber ratio. - Shrimp Tempura Roll: pretty good, the tempura was nicely crisp. - Japanese Seaweed Salad: OK. - Steak Teriyaki Dinner: Beef was mediocre, sauce was gelatinous. This restaurant has lots of seats in both just for sushi items as well as for hibachi, which basically is a show. I came for dinner and drinks and was pretty disappointed. I ordered the spicy salmon roll and the salmon avocado roll which are just basic rolls but they didn't look very appealing when they came to the table. Since eyes eat first, it already gave the impression that it might not be as good. It definitely wasn't the best sushi but it was decent. I also ordered the rock shrimp which came out nice and hot and were pretty good but I think the batter might have been a bit too thick. To accompany the meal, I got the autumn sky cocktail and it was way too strong for me. I prefer a nice sweet cocktail but this really was not that at all. My friend got a Stella and was so sure that they gave him Heineken instead. Overall, the prices are not bad but the quality just isn't there.
