(9A) Chicken Shoyu Ramen (9A) 日式酱油鸡拉面
Calvin K.

Two more week to go for my upcoming trip to Osaka, I found myself strong craving of Japanese and here I am. I was being placed to a booth flights up and in a honeycomb shape. I ordered this chicken shoyu ramen. The ramen texture is fine and the soups is rich in favor. The chicken to me is a little dry and it's being chopped in to small bites instead of a regular chicken cutlet pieces. It made the ramen feel like a to-go order or from a booth in a block party. The staff here is polite and response time is quick even I am like two flights up. It would feels much better if the staff can be more engaging to their customer by doing some small talk instead of being so focus to their task per their customers. I also suggested to maintain the honeycomb seating a little bit as it looks a little bit old and tearing. Well, I thank you for this resting place for my rough work day lunch. P.S. I am always curious on the reason for labeling the ramen to places in Japan. Like.... What made this chicken Ramen Kumamoto? Lap Yin Calvin Kwok

Ramen is good and tasty. The place is cool with the interesting seating. Good specials and very attentive waiters. The food comes out pretty quickly and it is a good family environment too.

Great ramen, flavorful broth! I enjoyed the katsuobushi pork belly ramen, and the noodles were just right. So delicious and filling, really great for a chilly night. Staff were attentive and quick, fun atmosphere too!

We have been to Kyuramen on Queens Boulevard before and enjoyed it enough to come back for another visit. This particular trip was on one of those miserable days -- snow or rain, I cannot quite remember which -- but the kind of weather that makes you want nothing more than a warm bowl of something good. Kyuramen has these enclosed honeycomb style booths that you climb up into, which made for a cozy and fun experience on a day like that. My wife and I settled in and ordered our ramen. Having tried their signature dishes on a previous visit, we knew what we were getting into and it delivered again. The one note of caution I would pass along -- be careful on the stairs, especially when the weather is wet. My wife took a tumble on the way down and ended up a little bruised. Thankfully nothing serious, but it gave us a scare. To the staff's credit, they were genuinely concerned and offered us a complimentary appetizer for our next visit. That was a thoughtful gesture and completely unprompted. As for the ramen itself, I was never really a fan of the dish until my wife got me eating it regularly. At this point I have been fully converted. Kyuramen is a solid spot and we will definitely be back.

After Friday errand day, stop in for peaceful sustenance and welcomed with smiles. Immediately to table ordered filling beef ramen with flavorful broth perfect jammy egg. The highlight was fried oyster appetizer with sauce and added sauerkraut pepper. Speaking of peppers: see pepper bar. Sauerkraut pepper did not disappoint and tickled my German Scottish roots. Bear in mind mid afternoon, was not crowded but people there. Casual relaxing vibe with Asian rock softly played in background. Very clean and beautifully neatly plated food. I had hot tea. But there are cocktails, sake and beer. It is by movie theater, so if on a date (looking at those romantic curtained booths), would get B2 combos has 2 ramens Sapporo miso ramen and Tokyo tonkotsu shoyu ramen, appetizer popcorn chicken, cherry blossom jelly, and matcha red bean pudding, lemonade and Thai ice tea for $56.99. Have many combos with various appetizers. Great meal.

This is a cute little Japanese restaurant with appetizing dishes to check out in a residential area. Street parking is doable on a weeknight after 6pm, so you can order in small tables or private booths with curtains. Service was fast, friendly, and accommodating for kids. We enjoyed the fried oysters, shrimp tempura, Sapporo miso ramen, and Japanese omurice combo, takoyaki balls, and fries. The Yakitori skewers looked enticing with variety, but it depends on how tender or well cooked they are to chew. We loved their yellow dipping sauce to end each bite on a sweeter and tangy note. If you write a five star review for Yelp or Google, you get a free Thai iced tea or amazing lemonade. Try their hot sake in a cute Asian bowl. I'll be back for this local fave restaurant :)

When you wake up w/a stomachache...Ramen, is always the best medicine If you're ever in Forest Hills, make sure you check this spot out Ok, now for the food...not in the correct order but one of the dishes was bought after seeing an Uncle Roger episode where he goes overseas to make the Japanese Omurice dish (the egg + gravy over rice dish - mad, I didn't take a video) - that dish came w/Matcha Pudding & Red Beans; Chicken Shoyu Ramen w/a side of Kimchi; Spring Rolls; Japanese Fried Oysters; Takoyaki Octopus Balls The restaurant was pretty cute - specially the seating. Was able to sit inside w/the curtain covering. Service is intersting: when you sit in the 'stalls', you push a button when you want to place your order etc. Food was pretty good - would definitely go again

I've been to all four Kyuramen locations in Queens, and one thing I truly appreciate is the consistency -- the service is always warm, the atmosphere inviting, and the quality never disappoints. Whether it's Flushing, Bayside, Long Island City, or Forest Hills, each visit feels like coming home to a familiar, comforting meal. My staple order is always the Yin Yang Ramen Bowl, which beautifully combines two different broths in one -- one spicy, one mild. It's the best of both worlds. Each side is deeply flavorful, rich, and balanced, and the portions of meat and veggies are generous. The presentation is always on point, but it's the taste that keeps me coming back. I unfortunately suffered a loss today and grieving - honestly, there's nothing quite like a hot, savory bowl of ramen from Kyuramen to soothe an aching heart. There's comfort in the routine of that first sip of broth -- it's like being wrapped in warmth and familiarity. Kyuramen isn't just a place to eat; it's a small reminder that even in hard times, simple pleasures like good ramen can make things a tiny bit better.

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a fan of Ramen, but Kyuramen has been on my "to try" list for a while after realizing that they had other dishes besides Ramen. The non-ramen dishes looked quite interesting and tasty and they indeed were!! Had lunch here recently and was not disappointed! I adored the beehive seating upon walking in and asked to sit in one of them on the second level. I started off with the skewers, which were a true culinary delight, a perfect balance of flavor and texture. I'm not sure what kind of marinade they use on the meat skewers, but it gave them a rich and savory taste which I loved!! The beef skirt skewer was my favorite, I can still taste it and I can't wait to have it again!! It was well done like I asked, but still tender and pretty much melted in my mouth!! Decided on the deep fried chicken rice burger for my 2nd dish, because WHY NOT?? I've NEVER had a "Chicken RICE burger" before ;-) and it was delicious! However, I would've preferred a little less sauce on the chicken. In addition, the rice patties fell apart when I tried to eat it as a sandwich, I ended up using a knife & fork for this dish ..but it was still tasty nonetheless. Food was served quickly, background Music was a vibe (mainly RNB) and I absolutely ADORE the decor!! I love this place and I will definitely return sometime in the future!!

Great food, unique decor and restaurant design, nice staff! Recommend for those in the area. The Chicken Shoyu Ramen was excellent, as was the Spicy Chilli Dumplings.

Delicious ramen, came in with a big group, good service, good food, nice decor inside. I ordered the Kyushu Spicy Tonkutsu Ramen. It was just the right amount of food. Thai iced tea was good as well.

Love a warm ramen soup anytime of day. They have the ying-yang bowls where you can try 2 different type of ramen bowls. The restaurant is spacious and it's good for gathering with friends.

The restaurant has an eye catching honeycomb interior with extremely fast service. We came here for lunch and literally minutes after ordering we got our entire order including drinks, appetizer, and ramen. We ordered: * #3 Mega Ramen Chashu and Shrimp ($17.99) * #Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen ($16.99) * Yinyang Bowl ($19.99) * Yakitori Platter (5 skewers) * did the combo meal + $6.99 for the three of us which include Thai iced tea and a pork bao Total came out a little over $100. Ramen was decent but the noodles aren't the best and don't have that ideal chew feel. The yakitori meat is a little tough and has a lot of black pepper on them. The Thai tea was great but the pork baos were very lackluster. It has a slice of pork, lettuce, and a Mayo sauce inbetween. On each of the table you'll find containers of togarashi, cayenne pepper, and sauerkraut pepper as condiments. I do enjoy the portions, it's very filling and it's nice that they have a "slurp and win" promo going on. I was able to win a gift card for free popcorn chicken for my next visit because my bowl said "chicken" when I cleared it. Overall Kyuramen is a solid 3 stars, not bad but not great either. If you want a quick hot meal come here.

The Kara Miso Ramen was better and I enjoyed the spicy taste of it. We also tried their Pork Buns, which were yummy and had a nice smokey taste. We had Lucky Chicken, a Japanese beer that's a red IPA that we both enjoyed. Business was relatively quiet and rather empty on a Tuesday early afternoon for lunch as there were only two people and I subsequently became the third patron.
