Came here with my family for my mom's birthday. We were seated in a little booth (not honey comb) with a curtain which was nice for privacy, but unfortunately forgotten about for a little bit. We had to press the button on the wall in order to get a server to come bring us waters and an extra place setting. That said, we were 5 people squished into a four person booth so I don't know if this place is great for groups. The food came quickly but was delicious and really good. We tried a bunch of ramens and they were all delicious. I tried the omarice, and it was good, but the glaze lacked flavor. I feel like it would be better to go with their curry sauce. Two more week to go for my upcoming trip to Osaka, I found myself strong craving of Japanese and here I am. I was being placed to a booth flights up and in a honeycomb shape. I ordered this chicken shoyu ramen. The ramen texture is fine and the soups is rich in favor. The chicken to me is a little dry and it's being chopped in to small bites instead of a regular chicken cutlet pieces. It made the ramen feel like a to-go order or from a booth in a block party. The staff here is polite and response time is quick even I am like two flights up. It would feels much better if the staff can be more engaging to their customer by doing some small talk instead of being so focus to their task per their customers. We have been to Kyuramen on Queens Boulevard before and enjoyed it enough to come back for another visit. This particular trip was on one of those miserable days -- snow or rain, I cannot quite remember which -- but the kind of weather that makes you want nothing more than a warm bowl of something good. Kyuramen has these enclosed honeycomb style booths that you climb up into, which made for a cozy and fun experience on a day like that. My wife and I settled in and ordered our ramen. Having tried their signature dishes on a previous visit, we knew what we were getting into and it delivered again. The one note of caution I would pass along -- be careful on the stairs, especially when the weather is wet. My wife took a tumble on the way down and ended up a little bruised. Thankfully nothing serious, but it gave us a scare. To the staff's credit, they were genuinely concerned and offered us a complimentary appetizer for our next visit. That was a thoughtful gesture and completely unprompted. As for the ramen itself, I was never really a fan of the dish until my wife got me eating it regularly. The Thai tea was great but the pork baos were very lackluster. It has a slice of pork, lettuce, and a Mayo sauce inbetween. On each of the table you'll find containers of togarashi, cayenne pepper, and sauerkraut pepper as condiments. I do enjoy the portions, it's very filling and it's nice that they have a "slurp and win" promo going on. Overall a positive experience and I would dine in person again! I've gotten Kyuramen for takeout in Manhattan before but this was my first time eating at a location. In looking for a place to eat after seeing a movie at Midway Theater, this place popped up as an option. At around 8:45pm on a Friday evening the restaurant was about 85% full, the staff asked us to put our names down via tablet on their virtual waitlist, though we were seated within a couple minutes. Their signature honeycomb seating (built out along the left wall of the restaurant) was full, as were their booths in the back so we sat at one of the two-person tables. The total space probably seats around 50-60 people. Not really set up for parties larger than 6. We ordered a #1 Tokyo Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen with black garlic $16.99 + extra half marinated egg $1.25, and a #2 Katsuobushi Pork Ramen $16.99. Their tonkatsu broth is pretty good here, a bit creamy but not too heavy, and on the saltier side but not so much that you can't finish the soup. (Did need to drink a tall glass of water afterwards though!) The noodles are springy with a good level of chew, and the marinated egg is perfectly runny and soft-boiled inside. They give a fair amount of topping s (corn, bamboo shoots, scallions) and pork belly pieces that came with my ramen were sizable. The staff was friendly and easy to flag down when our call button (they have an electronic notification system at each table) wasn't working. There's also a "Slurp and Win" promotion where at the bottom of each bowl (after you finish the soup) there's a code that shows whether you won a ramen, dessert, drink, chicken or nothing for your next dine-in visit. One of the coolest things they offer is a split ramen option, where you get to try two different broths in one bowl. Such a fun and unique idea! The chicken is especially great, which can be hard to come by in ramen places since most focus on pork. It's always tender and flavorful, never dry or overcooked.
